"You have to be forgettable" I think I found my calling guys

Her husband is so good that HE could play Ben Affleck in disguise hahahaha
Office romances happen everywhere apparently, lol.
this entire thing is so casually badass
Ha ha 16, oct and I just wrote pretty much the same thing .... scrolling through the comments lol
She’s a total badass. With all the stuff she’s allowed to tell us, imagine what she isn’t allowed to talk about- it’s so fascinating.
Or maybe THEY want us to think what she is telling to be the whole truth
Is she a badass? Or a criminal?
i mean i think she’s talking about older disguises because she worked a while ago with them so i think it’s outdated now
I'm sorry but, I'm not allowed to let you imagine that.
some secrets, are better to remain secret.
Mystique. It's one of the most bankable tools of intelligence agents, everywhere. A half smile and "That's classified" can open so many doors.
17:08 I just have to say, I always thought the Clark Kent glasses disguise was ridiculous until I realized how many people don’t recognize me without my glasses on. People that see me every day, and just taking my glasses off makes me a stranger to them. It really is kind of wild.
Just glasses seems a bit weak. But I remember one time I was eating lunch with some church friends when a young woman comes up and sits down with us. It seemed odd to me, but everybody else seemed to know her. After about 15 minutes of casual conversation I realized she was the daughter of a couple at the table, somebody I saw every Sunday, but here she didn't have any makeup on.
@@MacNerfer Probably has to do with religion. To be in a church, listening to all the things that are obviously false and don't describe ANYTHING about the real world, to a large degree shuts off the reasoning aspect of your mind.

I can say as a nurse, we blend in. People often forget our names but will say "oh, the nurse yesterday" or "the dark-haired nurse". We blend in dramatically. In the last 8 years of my career, only about 5 patients have remembered me for an extended period of time, and it was because of either: a) having them as a patient for a deeply emotional experience, and b) if they were in the hospital for a long period of time and saw me frequently.

What's so bad about being proud of your skills?
My grandpa told me he was a spy, not that I believe him, but the funny thing he said was that one of the most difficult things about being a spy is having 2 real jobs at the same time
I totally agree with the "distracting back and forth" bit at 2:14.
Last few times people have tried committing banknote fraud with me they usually try asking me questions just as I'm counting the money or pulling out their change, luckily I notice what they're doing. But distraction is a big part of avoiding people noticing what you're doing or preventing them looking too closely at your documents.

Wouldn’t you say though there’s a case to be made for adopting aspects of a persona that are more out there and unique? If you’re sussing out a spy, you might only expect to look at the most boring types who have high or convenient access to sensitive areas or material. The crazy red hair disguise is a good example of that.

Holy crap, she just casually said that they literally tried deforming people's palates to change their voices. She is frightening, to say the least.
They probably used dental plates, like the kind they use with dentures, with attachments to change the shape of the palate.
Jon in rural BC, Canada
I'm pretty sure they did that with wearable items similar to dentures and retainers. That would definitely be the easiest and safest way of going about it.
Despite all those spy action films I always thought that actual spy activity took a lot of time, and that included the disguising process: always just imagined a lot of time taken to fake a person. It was actually really interesting to learn that spies often did put on quick disguises to evade surveillance like in the movies.
Fr I always thought that part was made up
I didn’t know she could get anymore badass... until I learnt that she herself was an active field agent and served for 25 years before retiring to become *CHIEF* of Disguise. Talk about life goals

The key to Superman's disguise isn't really the glasses. It's that Clark doesn't *_behave_* anything like Superman. Combine that with people seeing what they expect to see, and it works. Even if someone did momentarily realize Clark and Superman looked similar, they'd immediately dismiss it as an obviously ludicrous idea.
Did she literally just casually say, with a smile, that one of her agents failed his mission, so he had to kill himself with a pill?
Just like she said. Nothing u can do if u get caught, ur just done. Deal with it yourself
Man I would never get into the spook business. You have no idea who is really giving the orders, and just like in that Ryan Reynolds/Denzel movie they are agents chased through the whole film and at the end discover their enemies are also working for the CIA. They run three different levels of every operation. The low level ground crew that are "doing their duty" for country, their handlers that think they know what they are really involved in, then above them are the real handlers that know what the hidden agenda is for that mission.
I got the impression that she was talking about a source, not an agent. Could be wrong.

Of course the CIA has spies in those professions as well, why would you believe what she says?

She's so pleasantly nonjudgemental about the sillier clips.
@ThatOneAsianBroChick : I'm a bit disappointed though that she did not dive deeper into superman/ Clark Kent. Cause althought it is obviously silly, there is also good points to it. Clark Kent has an entirely different personnality (or at least he plays it very well): not very sure of himself, difficulty to assert himself and be taken seriously, shy, etc. So in addition to the glasses (ans journalist suit of course), this change of personnality is interesting; at the very least, he would make a decent spy if he had a real disguise. But I do agree that it is not enough for a long terme disguise, and that no one ever recognises him (especially close friends) is very silly.
I found her to be plenty judgmental about all of them.
@@bs13690 Did she judge then, yes absolutely, that was that objective off the video. But what I think the people above where getting at was that she was not mean spirited or belittling about it.

There's something to the glasses thing, but not an actual disguise. I changed my name to ditch the awful name I was given, and friends were struggling to emerge to use the new name. MasumiSeike yes. It does. Just because you see it and hear about it doesn't mean that violence and death is ever easier to find out about
I mean if you follow the subtext it's not that shocking to me. ME TOO HAHAHAHAHAHHA
What about the most accurate spy movie of all time: *Spy Kids*
Too accurate. She might spill something confidential.
Mmmmmhmmm
Hahah... U guys r so funny
That was a leaked mission
Too confidential, if people find out about the truth behind it, the world of espionage will never recover
She’s the coolest literally. I love her she seems so sweet and fun to talk to
Glorious. I love the interplay of the Hollywood fantasy and the shocking reality. Thank you.
I love how she talks about doing super illegal stuff but in a super vague way
Like a true agent.
It's not illegal if your working for the CIA/government
@@destryedbyhippiepwrs he meant unethical
SEND ME HATE ON MY VIDEOSSS..
@@destryedbyhippiepwrs not really illegal, depending on what it is they're doing, just frowned upon if you're caught.
"Ben Affleck is playing my husband, Tony Mendez"
What a life this woman has had. She also has a book and she's done a Reddit AMA that I'm definitely about to go read
Would you mind sharing that ama link? Sounds like a good read.
omg thank you for this!
@Website guy They probably deserved it
@Website guy deserved it = not innocent #MindBlown
@Website guy casualties of war, think about the even more innocents she has probably saved that will never know it
Theres another one of these with an FBI behaviorist that was able to identify a false persona because he carried flowers stems up, which is apparently a eastern European cultural thing. I loved that so much because it gave some real credence to something i would have pegged as just being Hollywood. The other part that was fascinating is that they told him thats how they knew and it helped bring down the front.
Thanks a lot lady. Argo is literally what I do for a living and my country. I'm a Canadian who works on filming locations
"We don't have stores of maintenance uniforms or military uniforms, but we can arrange... anything."
This woman scares me.
The one with the L-Pill pen, i have read (or watched) a story about the spy who took a sip on his pen when he was about to write his confession (maybe it was the story she was telling)...he was taken to hospital and every nurse and doctor who got into the room and inhaled whats coming out in his mouth died. I believe it was about 6 doctors that died not including the 2 men that took him there and nurses.
That pause, tho...
@@monmayor1467 Considering that she said he was dead before he hit the floor I would say this is not the same story. Frankly, yours sounds absolutely ludicrous.
@cak01vej i'm not really sure about the authenticity of the story i read. I can't find it on google
What is the substance put in the pen? Must be hella potent and faster acting then cyanide.
I love that she understands that just because something isn't accurate to real life doesn't mean it's bad or not entertaining.
your comment is so underrated!
I so agree, and it's how you can have fun in life in general, almost have to at times. Real life is a personal, relative term anyway.
If only you knew the darkness this lady has contributed too.
She's my favorite guest by far. Such interesting subject matter, such a rockstar job title, yet such an unassuming lady. She reminds me of my mom quite a bit haha
How interesting. I knew nothing of how disguises are used or that there was a person in charge of it. Very enlightening video. Thanks!
