I don’t think people who say “he is an old man he needs to get over it” fully grasp what happened. Mustaine was kicked out of a band of his best friends, then watched those friends SKYROCKET to fame by using HIS music he SPECIFICALLY asked them not to use, didn’t give him credit, then shamed him and encouraged fans to shame him. Then got relentlessly teased for being kicked out of Metallica and for not being as cool as Metallica. Sure he had a lot of issues with drugs and drinking, but a lot of that was fueled by this and it’s not fair to tell him to just “get over it” because that is some SERIOUSLY hard stuff to deal with.
Mate here's the thing, after having created such a great metal band AND being one of, if not the best guitarist of the genre, Dave seems to just hold on to the past a lil too much He tries to exaggerate what Metallica stole from him, claiming James hetfields entire alpha male persona is a ripoff of his(which btw is contradicted by Ron mcgovney too) and even though after kill em all, he legitimately has writing credits on 2 SONGS, he gets so mad even when their best albums have hardly any contribution from him(or none as in the case of master of puppets) Lastly, it's been 40 whole years, which is just way too long to hold on to that kind of grudge, so yes I do think Dave does tend to overreact to the entire situation

Then read up on Metallica's very first show. James didn't play a guitar on stage. He talked about it before. Not the first 4 shows. So McGovney didn't contradict anything. If Ron knew James played guitar, that doesn't mean Dave saw James playing when they met. And talking to promoters? Lars told Rolling Stone their first show was 90% people who knew Dave. Lol, Google it. 40 years is too long for Metallica fans to be getting so mad at Dave's opinions. Metallica chose to record his contribution and play it live for 40 years, so you can blame them as much as Dave.
I think that at least Mustaine is right about Metallica treating members differently. I remember Jason Newstead was constantly bullied by the members of the band due to regrets and trauma over their old bassist Cliff Burton, who tragically died in a crash.
Dave really only hates Lars. He says many times he loves James, loved Cliff even wrote a song towards him, and yeah he has thrown a few jabs at Kirk but Dave doesn’t even see him as a threat. So is more so Dave vs Lars then Metallica.
They gave him credit on like 10% of them before kicking him out,i remember one time they just didn't cite his name in the entire album and when confronted about it idk who replied with "don't worry about it" they were planning on firing him for a looong time
The funny part about all of this is that after he got kicked out, Dave on multiple occasions jammed with Cliff without the others of Metallica and they stayed friends till his early passing Edit: (The Jamming probably didn’t happen, I was distracted when writing this comment but they were friends after Metallica, there’s a famous photo floating around on the internet of Dave and Cliff hanging out when Megadeth opened for King Diamond.)

And though Ron left the band because he essentially was more mature than the others (and got tired of waiting for the band to get more successful), he had by far the most animosity towards Dave, who seemed genuinely mean and dangerous. That's why Dave got kicked out.

The whole structure, placement of climaxes etc. All Dave. I imagine it would be pretty crushing, though Dave has always been insufferable, though it's ok because he wrote basically the whole Peace Sells album.

I think The second Four Horsemen is almost note for note though. Listening to the demos and the album the differences are obvious and listening to Kirk's Exodus demos you can hear a lot of his licks turn up. I will say though that Ride the Lightning was when Kirk could be completely original

They sound exactly what they are: Kirk wanted to do his own solos but with only 3 weeks until recording Jonny Z tried to convince him to do the solos like the demos so they compromised and he did the first 4 bars of Dave's demos and did his own style for the rest of it. Dave's demos were not anything special at all it was really just mindless noise mess, Kirk made them far better.
Note regarding the Some Kind of Monster Feud: The song “Something I’m Not”, is specifically directed towards Lars Ulrich. It is Mustaine’s second diss track after “Liar,” the subject of which was ironically playing lead as a session guitarist on the album “Something I’m Not” appears on.

This whole "feud" was imo always one-sided (coming more from Dave). Sometimes rightfully, when talking about stolen riffs and music in general. I think it's sad to see that he still talks about this topic. I love Mustain, Megadeth and also Metallica. They made some of my favourite music ever and were the reason i picked up the guitar. It's sometimes hard to like Dave and his music, because i can feel a lot of resentment and spite in his art and his singing. Mostly towards the government but i hope you know what i mean. I love his guitar playing and i'm currently practicing Holy Wars... by Megadeth. I want to play his stuff and enjoy his music, but i never want to be like him. I hope he finds his inner peace and continues to release great music. Great video!
If Lars' claim is true that he wrote the greater majority of those songs on No Life Til Leather, then he really doesn't need Mustaine to sign over anything, they could have just produced and released it. To me, that little fact alone gives Dave Mustaine's claim that they stole his work far more weight. It would be smarter for Lars to shut his mouth, get Mustaine his proper share of royalties and get the tape produced and re-released. Simple As.

Truer words have never been spoken, the video is biased like all mustaine metallica content these days, pretty weird how rewritten the history has become. He can say it is all in the name of memes, but there was nothing funny about what he said. And dave is not a good lead player, he never wrote a single solo that had thought put into it, if you just want random shredding sure, but you are not getting anything else. Mustaine would have never been kicked if he was a good guy to be around and he would have a stable line up in his own band. People should just be objective, it's exhausting.
To add on, Lars played a big part in arranging Metallica’s early work, so him wanting writing credits on the demo honestly doesn’t seem out of the ordinary.
In 1984 when Metallica were writing ride the lightning, the producers have said that they had to help lars with drumming and lars didn’t even know what an upbeat was so…. But overall Lars was insane back in the day. He just got lazy and got more bitter as a person. I think now they’re old folks they’ve calmed down a bit.

I honestly didn't know about James kicking a dog I just knew they had a dumb feud and didn't know what started it. Like I'm not justifying Mustaine keeping the feud alive or the media enabling him to do so but if the dog kick is true then I at least understand Mustaine's initial reaction. Like if someone kicked my dog I'd be fucking pissed immediately.
Remember james took it personally after that day and metallica started kind of conspirating against him from that day on,that's why he continued until they kicked him out
The details of the dispute are still hazy to this day. Part of the issue is that they were all drunk and/or high, so getting a straightforward account from anyone, let alone a consensus, is impossible

This whole "feud" was imo always one-sided (coming more from Dave). Sometimes rightfully, when talking about stolen riffs and music in general. I think it's sad to see that he still talks about this topic. I love Mustain, Megadeth and also Metallica. They made some of my favourite music ever and were the reason i picked up the guitar. It's sometimes hard to like Dave and his music, because i can feel a lot of resentment and spite in his art and his singing. Mostly towards the government but i hope you know what i mean. I love his guitar playing and i'm currently practicing Holy Wars... by Megadeth. I want to play his stuff and enjoy his music, but i never want to be like him. I hope he finds his inner peace and continues to release great music. Great video!

If Lars' claim is true that he wrote the greater majority of those songs on No Life Til Leather, then he really doesn't need Mustaine to sign over anything, they could have just produced and released it.
To me, that little fact alone gives Dave Mustaine's claim that they stole his work far more weight.
It would be smarter for Lars to shut his mouth, get Mustaine his proper share of royalties and get the tape produced and re-released. Simple As.

i gotta disagree with you blaming lars mostly for the feud. lars is the only one who repeatedly meets with dave, says respectful things about him only to have dave repeatedly badmouthing lars. as for lars drumming skills being bad, thats bull. hes not as good now as he was in his youth but the drumming on the first 4, maybe 5 albums is exceptional and has been praised by many talented drummers like dave lombardo. mustaine talks shit about everyone, especially kirk who has done nothing wrong. the only person he speaks respectfully about is james who doesnt pay any attention to him at all
Truer words have never been spoken, the video is biased like all mustaine metallica content these days, pretty weird how rewritten the history has become. He can say it is all in the name of memes, but there was nothing funny about what he said. And dave is not a good lead player, he never wrote a single solo that had thought put into it, if you just want random shredding sure, but you are not getting anything else. Mustaine would have never been kicked if he was a good guy to be around and he would have a stable line up in his own band. People should just be objective, it's exhausting.
To add on, Lars played a big part in arranging Metallica’s early work, so him wanting writing credits on the demo honestly doesn’t seem out of the ordinary.
In 1984 when Metallica were writing ride the lightning, the producers have said that they had to help lars with drumming and lars didn’t even know what an upbeat was so….
But overall Lars was insane back in the day. He just got lazy and got more bitter as a person. I think now they’re old folks they’ve calmed down a bit.

@@taranbhachu1976 theres lots of musicians that dont have technical knowledge, guitartists who cant read music or even know scales. at the end, what is on those albums are proof that lars was fast and good. plus theres tons of live footage of him ripping it up like the binge and purge concerts or those days in the 80s when they played super fast, like that show in toronto you can find on youtube.
