Pretty sure 97% of metal bands will cite sabbath as an influence, if not, chances are they'll cite a band who will probably have been influenced by them.
Keep this is mind.
Whenever you listen to a metal album, regardless of decade/genre etc, black sabbath will somehow play a role in it.

Strangely, Sabbath shows up often in punk, funk, and fusion music too. They’re definitely one of the most influential acts ever.
Sabbath only became a predominant influence in metal in the 90s. Proto-metal/early metal bands such as Judas Priest, UFO, Scorpions, Rainbow, etc. were actually influenced by Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Cream, Sweet, Budgie, Blue Cheer, and Hendrix.

I won't stand for this Dio era slander! Heaven and Hell is one of the greatest albums of all time and is right up there with Master of Reality and Paranoid. Headless Cross and Tyr from the Tony Martin era are also among their best work.

Heaven and Hell is incredible but it feels less like Sabbath and more like “The Tony and Dio Show”. Bill and Geezer were really phoning it in for the Dio years. Still amazing.
it's best to regard it as a totally different band. I would even go as far as saying it's pointless to compare an album like heaven and hell with master of reality or paranoid for example.
Heaven and hell is awesome but the Martin albums don't hold a candle to any dio or ozzy album
Black Sabbath live in Paris 1970 at L’Olympia Theatre is a fucking 10/10 concert. Absolutely insanely powerful.
ive been a self taught guitarist for thirty years now, the way we would learn and teach ourselves guitar was to learn how to do a bared power chord in drop d, and proceed to learn black Sabbath self titled album and paranoid by ear. once you could do that in time, you were good enough to start playing in a band.

I love the Black Sabbath era with Dio as the frontman. Ozzy may have a more "unique" personality to say the least, but Dio is objectively the better singer.
Mob Rules is a great album.
I would argue Ozzy was a great singer during his tenure with Sabbath and his early solo career, man had genuine vocal chops

@@TheAndostro Dio definitely had a more classical voice, and better technique. Does it means he's "objectively" the best singer? I personally prefer Ozzy's nasal voice and style, and he doesn't sound "average" on The Writ.
If you haven’t already, I’d love to get some ignorant guides of funk, soul, Latin, and jazz fusion. I’ve been getting into these genres, but they don’t have much shared history with most other music I listen to, and your ignorant guides really do a spectacular job of providing not only an overview, but also some deep cuts.

In my opinion, Black Sabbath was the first alternative metal band to use horror and sci-fi themes before White Zombie, Powerman 5000, and the controversial artist Marilyn Manson. But there's more: Ozzy's son was fascinated with the paranormal and had his own series where his father usually gets a guest appearance on the nowadays less dependently titled Travel Channel, and Ozzy was hospitalized for a short time from supposedly biting the head off of a bat during one of Black Sabbath's tours. Without Ozzy's solo career, we wouldn't have Crazy Train or his collaborations with other musicians that continue to this day.
Blue Oyster Cult are another great band, even if its debatable on if they're really metal half the time its some of the most passionate sci-fi/horror rock from the 70's and 80's.

All four members love The Beatles, not just Ozzy. Black Sabbath is anything but simple. But they both have an immense influence on numerous bands in numerous genres.
But they don't need me or anyone else defending them. They are huge for a very good reason.

Everyone gets this wrong, Helter Skelter DID NOT inspire the Manson murders, Piggies off the white album did. Main reason why I assume people get it wrong is because Piggies is a boring song and having the first metal song linked to a cult leader is much more interesting

yes yes. very good channel. you can't watch all the videos at once though, just a few a day or a week will make it more fun to come back to to laugh at, otherwise it gets dull, like everything else.
even though Ozzy isnt my favorite era, in fact my least favorite, It does stand the test of time to how a band that had everything that could go wrong did go wrong stacked against them but that's really the whole story of Sabbath with all the musicians and singers of Sabbath post Ozzy. The first album from it was always destined to be a hit but everything onwards from there just derailed into some unforeseen chaos that either splits the band or drives its members into deep obscurity like Geoff Nichols or even Ray Gillian. The tragedy of Sabbath as id like to call it.

Wow so shocking 😂😂😂 ! Probably most Sabat fans don't really like me very much. But I Love the Sunblind song. Black Sabath has been a huge inspiration for the Stoner Doom Metal scene which is misogynistic yet I dig some of their music.
All their crosses were built by Ozzy’s dad
I know true Sabbath is Ozzy, Tony, Bill and Geezer but Dio Sabbath is comparable to peak Sabbath, Dehumanizer is a super underrated album and in my opinion even better than some of the original 6 albums
