One of the stranger facts is that a few of his groupies and ex-band mates ended up going to North California and becoming Orthodox Christian monks, supposedly after a conversation with Seraphim Rose. Rose himself was a burnt out hippie, so him adopting disenfranchised punks isn't too out of the ordinary. With the group they released a zine called "Death to the World" featuring photos of monks wearing leather and aviator shades while holding decorated skulls.
The zine is still maintained by the monastery and a lot of their articles mention GG as an example of a tortured soul that was thrashing around in kind of a horrific cultural environment.

I honestly think that GG was amazing songwriter, considering how little time he got to spend actually making music between his bands breaking up and being in jail, not to mention he had to learn everything by himself. That he made music that is listenable at all is impressive.
I think his earlier songs like anything pre-Eat My Fuc or even songs like “Gimme Some Head” show genuine pop sensibility and effort to make catchy songs first of all things. The later stuff is very rough production-wise and his voice gets shitter progressivelly - wchich just shows the skeleton underneath is still good because they are still discernable from one another and memorable on their own. My favorite songs are “I Wanna Fuсk Myself”, “Expose Yourself To Kids”, “Louden Boomer”…
I’d even say he was just as talented as Kurt was, just Kurt chose to make by landslide more accesible music.

Whether you love him or hate him. GG was the most honest person in rock and roll history. What you saw was what you get out of him, and he was not a saint clearly, he was an awful person made by childhood abuse from his father, bullying, and the times he lived in, but he dared to live his life the way he wanted to live by regardless of what authorities and institutions had to say about it, and that in its own philosophy is quite admirable even if you do despise the guy. He dared to live life to its fullest in his own way. This is a man who truly lived by the principle teachings of Aleister Crowly. If you put the poop-throwing and naked fighting to the side for a moment. He lived his life without rules and without fear regardless of what society and the law thought. Something that most people wish they could do every day, and that is to live life the way you want it to be without any rules or institutions to hold you down. Yes, he was a freak show, a comedian in his own way, and a bad guy in one package, but the one thing he was not; was dishonest. There are way bigger scumbags out there in the world than GG Allin, and they live in cities like DC, LA, San Fran, New York, and Settle, and they all wear expensive suits, drive million-dollar sports cars, live in expensive yachts, and go to private islands to have those depraved Jefferey Epstein style parties. GG was scummy no doubt about it, he would punch people in the face who did nothing to him, and that's how a lot of his fights got started, but there are much bigger pieces of crap in the world than GG ever was, and they run and rule our political and economic systems across the globe.

If GG got his act together and tried being in a consistent band with proper songwriting, he could've been a good comedy rock singer, if you listen to some of his country songs, they are more tongue in cheek and his early material was pretty good 'cause it was more classic punk as opposed to edgy shock value.
