My favourite thing about Angelic 2 the Core is how it’s *so* frighteningly bad, on *so* many levels, that you can’t help but find some genuine entertainment in it. Despite being one of the worst albums I’ve heard in my entire life, I have never once been bored by it. In that sense, it really is like The Room - it’s awful by every metric, yet I’m so happy it was made.

@@a-don13 I still think it's bad tbh, and it's more exacerbated by the fact that Kamikaze was basically just rushed as a response to people panning Revival (though admittedly that album had a bit more of the tracks I like), but it's cool that u like it, there's a few tracks that I've warmed up to now, esp. Framed, that track can be pretty tongue-and-cheek.
One thing I noticed about this list is most of these albums are made by popular artists, it just happens to be their most lackluster release. I wanna see 10-15 albums made by nobodies that are so bad the album becomes more infamous than the artist.
I once had Bell's palsy and when I am in a brainless stupor, I have to check my face for droop. Thankfully, Total Xanarchy didn't make me anything but pissed at the audacity of existence to put me through that album.
I saw lil wayne in 2009 and he played prom queen and so he had a guitar and he was air playing it like he never saw anyone play a guitar before and half way through he forgot he had the prop and stopped pretending to play altogether
I feel like these lists reflect how usually things closer in our mind are going to be more "potent" than anything far back. Recently, I've noticed the "decade" lists are very much influenced by the ladder half of the decade. I mean, even this list, if you think about it, is very much made up of mostly things from the far latter half of the year--many being from the last two years, even. I don't think that discredits it, or anything, but I think it's a very interesting statement on how we focus more on recent things. Just a neat little observation. Because, in retrospect, it would be quite easy to pick, say, some of the really mundane and uninspired trap of the mid to late 2010's, or some of the formulaic and problematic electronic/pop music dominating the mainstream in the early 2010's and mid 2010's. Melon himself has said djent is a movement he REALLY dislikes, yet none to really be found, etc. I really don't think it's laziness or anything. I just believe when you're creating a list like this, it's extremely easy to focus on the things that stick out in your mind the most. And for someone consuming as much music as Anthony on a regular basis, it's pretty easy to understand why the most recent would stick out as the worst, even if in retrospect they might not be the absolute worst of the worst. And that's not even MENTIONING the underground lol. bit of a cop out even if I understand why this happened lol
Well Yh a lot of the bad stuff is bad but not bad enough to actually be memorable, as he’s not gonna be checking these albums out again rly. Also taste changes- and as he’s become more open the last ten years in reviewing trap styles of music and pop music he’s discovered a lot worse music at the same time. These effectively are still open wounds whereas older ones he j doesn’t care for so much but doesn’t rly want to revisit.
According to Melon, all music in the 2010s fit nicely between Angelic 2 the Core and TPAB. Like they are the beginning and end of a story, 2 sides of the same coin, if you will. To have one without the other is to invite chaos, as they balance the music spectrum as masterclasses of the art form that is music.

My favourite thing about Angelic 2 the Core is how it’s *so* frighteningly bad, on *so* many levels, that you can’t help but find some genuine entertainment in it. Despite being one of the worst albums I’ve heard in my entire life, I have never once been bored by it. In that sense, it really is like The Room - it’s awful by every metric, yet I’m so happy it was made.
So true. Almost makes me wanna pick up this album, it’s a glorious masterpiece of the 2010’s.

One thing I noticed about this list is most of these albums are made by popular artists, it just happens to be their most lackluster release. I wanna see 10-15 albums made by nobodies that are so bad the album becomes more infamous than the artist.

I saw lil wayne in 2009 and he played prom queen and so he had a guitar and he was air playing it like he never saw anyone play a guitar before and half way through he forgot he had the prop and stopped pretending to play altogether

I feel like these lists reflect how usually things closer in our mind are going to be more "potent" than anything far back. Recently, I've noticed the "decade" lists are very much influenced by the ladder half of the decade. I mean, even this list, if you think about it, is very much made up of mostly things from the far latter half of the year--many being from the last two years, even. I don't think that discredits it, or anything, but I think it's a very interesting statement on how we focus more on recent things. Just a neat little observation. Because, in retrospect, it would be quite easy to pick, say, some of the really mundane and uninspired trap of the mid to late 2010's, or some of the formulaic and problematic electronic/pop music dominating the mainstream in the early 2010's and mid 2010's. Melon himself has said djent is a movement he REALLY dislikes, yet none to really be found, etc.
I really don't think it's laziness or anything. I just believe when you're creating a list like this, it's extremely easy to focus on the things that stick out in your mind the most. And for someone consuming as much music as Anthony on a regular basis, it's pretty easy to understand why the most recent would stick out as the worst, even if in retrospect they might not be the absolute worst of the worst. And that's not even MENTIONING the underground lol. bit of a cop out even if I understand why this happened lol

Well Yh a lot of the bad stuff is bad but not bad enough to actually be memorable, as he’s not gonna be checking these albums out again rly. Also taste changes- and as he’s become more open the last ten years in reviewing trap styles of music and pop music he’s discovered a lot worse music at the same time.
These effectively are still open wounds whereas older ones he j doesn’t care for so much but doesn’t rly want to revisit.

According to Melon, all music in the 2010s fit nicely between Angelic 2 the Core and TPAB. Like they are the beginning and end of a story, 2 sides of the same coin, if you will. To have one without the other is to invite chaos, as they balance the music spectrum as masterclasses of the art form that is music.
