I would say that Munky's trauma is about as, maybe even more severe than JD's. In an interview where he talks about his alcoholism he said that being adopted at a young age caused him to always feel isolated and alienated while never being able to identify the cause, and when he was five years old he had been sexually abused for 3 months which caused him to resort to start drinking when he was 12; he's since been sober since 2011
that's a weird thing to say, JD was sexually abused too, don't compare people's trauma

I visibly wore a KoRn "Follow the Leader" T-shirt in my 9th grade yearbook photo in 1999, and I also wore glasses had an angsty look on my face like the Chudjak meme. Zero regrets.
Korn were a genuine breath of fresh air at a time when grunge, death and thrash were mostly going stale. What came after them, well, yes, there’s that.
To be fair though, Coal Chamber played at the first ever Ozzfest and were the first nu metal band, or one of the first bands ever to grace an Ozzfest stage, also Coal Chamber were playing shows since 1994 in the California area so they did come up with KoRn before Limp Bizkit but CC didn't release their first major label album until 1997. Dez Fafara said though "once he seen KoRn blow up on the scene that it was time for Coal Chamber to blow up too" in this documentary I watched.
Same with System Of A Down and Snot, they were California bands who came up after KoRn who were playing the Cali scene years before their first major label album dropped. It wasn't easy back then to get a major label deal though bands really had to work to achieve that. KoRn just happened to be the first band to really break through and create a buzz that helped bands like Snot, SOAD, and Coal Chamber become successful.

@@itookallthenames It was the same in America. Those bands like SOAD and Coal Chamber were mostly just playing local shows in California until their debut albums were released around 1997/1998.
I mean the first few Korn and Slipknot releases.. really realized a certain potential of the genre that many, many copycats would recreate in ways that weren't all too exciting anymore already.

Kids these days are borderline r*tarded, and that's coming from somebody with Autism. Social media is de-evolving them if anything. These kids can barely speak and write their native language and can't even do simple math, but they sure as hell want that new Gucci hanger to hang their Gucci shirt on while singing about big booty b*tches and twerking. The internet is pure degeneracy, and this is why kids should not be on it. All this while technology is going in the opposite direction to a point where it will outpace us all in every area. Future generations are REALLY not ready for what's coming in the next 10-20 years yet we're still focusing on weapons of mass destruction and identity politics (which apps like TikTok are pushing, on purpose). Kids are becoming dumber but technology is becoming "smarter". A very bad combo, indeed.

@Goatpuke They left that rap metal sound behind back in 1999 man, you need to get with the times brother...I will admit IDC much for Follow The Leader because of the rap rock vibes but they aren't that band anymore and haven't been for many, many years.

Jonathan Davis was back in the day at the party with some of his friends, and there were these gay guys, who goshed about how they love felching.
Felching is a sexual act, where after anal sex, the jizz alongside with sometimes shit is eaten out.
The guy shat on his face accidentally during this act. Among other things, he had corn kernel on his tongue after doing this.
And it became like a gag meme within this friend group, whenever someone said corn. Then the band who though it was hilarious used the now known spelling KoЯn.
The logo was drawn by Jonathan himself with his left hand.

Coal Chamber and KoRn started at around the same time period, so I think it was them influencing each other and not one doing stuff that set the template for the other.

KoRn still rules! I love Technical Death Metal, Progressive Metal and Black Metal and Goth Rock but I love Nu Metal and Other styles of Metal. I've been listening to them for 15 years.
