Some feuds that weren't mentioned: Kerry King from Slayer - Said he almost completely quit playing guitar because of Limp Bizkit's rise to fame. Lars Ulrich - Stated in a Metallica fan magazine he felt "a tremendous amount of hate towards Limp Bizkit. All I have to think of is Fred Durst's red baseball cap, and I get very hostile." Creed - After Fred dissed Scott Stapp onstage while they were on the same tour, Scott's manager gave him an anger management booklet with bible quotes written on the cover. Also, the Limp Bizkit/Slipknot beef ended around the early 2010s and Fred's kids are Slipknot fans
Kerry King, imagine being so bitter that you almost quit your passion because another band starts playing music you dont like. With the slipknot fued, im pretty sure it came out that Corey Taylor was lying, because where did Fred Durst call slipknot fans fat smell kids? And the Creed fued, Fred was calling Scott Stapp stuck up for the way he treated his fans.
Anytime someone older talks about the band in a positive way I swear the only thing they can bring up is their guitarist, he’s literally the only thing anyone likes
Before Limp Bizkit got famous, I saw them open for Faith No More. They were so bad, they were booed off stage. I’m not a fan, but felt bad for them as someone who has performed live gigs. That having been said, Wes was pretty much the only artist/performer in the band who was very good. Just my anecdotal two cents.
Eddie Van Halens tank story is my personal favourite in rock history, the old guard literally held a gun to the new kid on the blocks head and said "we're sick of your shit Fred, this ends nooooww"
imagine taking a nap then getting a knock at your door then opening it to see eddie van fucking halen pulling up in a tank dressed like a wanna be samurai with a gun
On the other hand, I don't think it's possible for Les Claypool to have a bad side. Think about it. Who could Les Claypool meet and -not- result in becoming friends?
In my eyes, Fred durst will always be the single funniest and somehow unapologetically 90s-cool frontmen in nu-metal, I enjoy limp bizkit, while admittedly not my favorite band, they're still a very fun group to listen to, and Wes borland's guitar playing will always be the best part of their music.
In 2002 a kid from our class pied Fred Durst in guitar center while they were auditioning for a new guitarist in the NW. It was a thing of local legend for years 😂
A few notes: - Fred spoke positively of Eminem in a 2016 interview, it's on RUclips, just search "Fred Durst on Eminem". - Tim Commerford once apologized to the world for RATM inspiring Limp Bizkit, Fred's reply to this was basically that he respects Tim and RATM but that Tim is a bully. - Zakk Wylde said something to the effect of "Limp Bizkit sucks dick" on stage once, but he's since clarified that he was upset that his own band wasn't doing so hot at the time because they didn't wanna conform to nu metal tropes, but that there's no bad blood between him and LB now. - Shaggy 2 Dope has explained recently that the reason he messed with Fred on stage was that he was drunk and had said he was gonna kick Fred, and that he was basically in too deep when he tried to back away and not do it, so he did it. He's expressed regret for doing it and apologizes for it every time it comes up. Fred and Violent J have recently discussed the incident and everything is cool.
Of course shaggy pulled his drop kick.. Everyone knows he could have sent Fred Durst into the freakin shadow realm if he wanted to at that moment but it was friendly
You can hate the guy all you want But you gotta admit Fred going from hating on Britney to now helping out female rock artists (i.e Courtney from Spiritbox and Kat from Scowl) is some pretty impressive character development on his end.
you know what I find interesting about Fred Durst is I truly believe everyone has fallen for the persona he puts on you got to somewhat respect that even if none of that shit with Britney spears never happened I see why he said something did its putting his name in everyone's mouth and it fucking worked like holy shit that's some interesting business strategy lol
Durst's dissing reputation was made worse when Chocolate Starfish and the Hot Dog Flavored Water's opening track, the lyrics being mockeries of Trent Reznor's substance abuse that nearly killed him. Ironically enough, Limp Bizkit's drummer Wes Borland would collaborate with NIN's Renhölder and A Perfect Circle(one of TOOL's side-projects aside from Puscifer) on the first Underworld movie's soundtrack. The history of Limp Bizkit, and any of Nu Metal's beefs have been a massive rabbithole to dive down imo. Slipknot even got to throw shade at Mushroomhead; the reason was made hilarious by the fact I'm a fan of both artists. 😅
You know, I just realized with this video, I had absolutely no idea what Britney Spears looked like. How can this larger than God celebrity look like an absolute stranger to me. What sort of rock have I been living under
Dude he may have brought the one of the Kramers since they were geeking out for him, they should have just listened to his request not to smoke in front of him since he was quitting heroin at the time, pure disrespectful shit lmao.
I heard a rumour back in high school that slipknot got in a fight with Limpbizkit on stage at The big out music festival around 2001 2002 but that's my friend who told me
I listen to the first live version of "Outside", a somber acoustic rendition of a man regretting his adult life, hear Durst stop him during the bridge and say "This is the real m*f'in deal y'all... I'm feelin' those lighters" and hate Fred all over again.
Reminds me of someone who'd be arguing in favor of the band Oomph! in Rammstein comments sections, then when the vocalist Dero split from the band he went solo and reused an old account, so when the name change happened on the sockpuppet account everyone realized they were arguing with the Oomph! singer all those years ago.
I can't look at Fred Durst without seeing the "how do you do fellow kids" meme. Also Linkin Park video when? I have the feeling they might be the only Nu-Metal band you respect.
I had been a huge Limp Bizkit fan at the age of fourteen - "hard music" appealed to me and I listened to whatever had been accessible to me, from weird metal introduced to me thanks to a local station having a two hour broadcast dealing with it for two hours a night once a week to music TV where Nu Metal was blowing up. I wasn't proficient enough in english yet to actually understand the lyrics and didn't care anyways because it was more about associations and admittedly image at a time when I got into skateboarding and downhill mountainbiking and this was just the kind of music the slightly older kids we looked up to had been listening. But I would soon realize a certain lack of substance - it was merely pop music at a time when I became more aware in regards to politics and culture. Thankfully we had a local punk scene in the metropolitan area of Berlin coinciding with a humble 70's punk arrival and after I had read "England's Dreaming" I knew where I would feel home. With 16 I was pretty much set on this particular sub-subculture to this day more than 20 years later although I meanwhile identify with HC just as much. For a time I feel ashamed to ever have listened to Limp Bizkit, but now that I hopefully have matured at least a little I can see why it made sense at this time and feel grateful that it alongside my compatriots of Rammstein set the path for making me who I am today.
Na dude he pressed a 1911 between his eyes, he wasn’t kidding. Coolea missed a claim that Ive heard a few times that not only did durst ignore Ed, but hung up on him, so ed was pissed.
You should have done more research into that drop kick. It gets severely overlooked and further fuels the misunderstanding. Shaggy made a bet that if they got a teenager backstage he'd drop kick Fred. He's a man of his word so he did a wrestling drop kick which is why it looked like he missed. He wasn't intending on hurting him.
Fred durst to me is funny. As a highschooler in a small southern town with no real metal scene or p2p capable internet connection during the peak of nu metal popularity, i liked limp bizkit ast 2 albums. After that it got really dumb and couldnt stand them. Looking on it now durst just seems like a music shitpost from fl (sorry from a floridian) and now i can kinda respect that.

Big W for Creed's manager.
Iimp got alot hate just for being popular and then add the lighyer fluid that was freds personality
Limp toured with Metallica more than once though? I'm guessing Lars was just winding people up.

wtf i love Fred Durst now.
Calling a beef between two white rappers a “Cold War” is hard
That is what true genius is
Nah, it's super easy
I don't think Durst is a rapper

The Van Halen situation killed me lmao.

Fred Durst was already making Redditors seethe even before Reddit was created.
@exodusn2233 *idiots vs idiots made into a youtube video by an idiot.
it was a very fun time to be a 12 yr old. These are all just juvenile antics
He’s just livin’ it up, not giving a fuсk, in the fast lane
And it IS fake when the girls get naked.
And being obnoxious
People took Fred's character way too seriously, that doesn't mean he didn't play into it a bit too much, but still.
He wasn't a character. He was an asshat.
It was the Livejournal that really made him insufferable.

Van Halen went Panama on Durst and invaded his estate in a literal tank. Cocaine is a hell of a drug.

Eddie Van Halen basically declared war on Fred Durst to get his gear back........wow
Yep, he sure did!
Some of the most important gear in rock history too, so as unhinged as ed was at that time, I kinda understand lol.

“limp dog” is probably the worst thing he could have said about himself 💀💀💀

I hope to one day own a Fred Durst signed dreamcast
