I actually cried after watching this as his childhood story is pretty much similar to mine. The same heartbroken feeling I had as a kid and still have when I get to the thoughts of my childhood and teen period of time. Thanks to him for speaking it out and letting people know they're not the only ones through this kinds of stuff. The most inspiring man I know.
Dave Mustaine is still alive....... And well.!
Salutations musicales.
He’s definitely one of my guitar hero’s. I’ve listened and tried to play back several megadeth songs growing up. His riffs show the dedication he has to his craft, a master.
Good interview at a very interesting time of his life: divorce (which never ended up happening in the end). A brilliant mind, a true metal icon. My teenage years’ idol. God bless you Dave Mustaine 🙏🏻❤️
And a year after that he was diagnosed with throat cancer. The man upstairs does not play around. In Dave's words though, it is speculation. But it is eerie how those type of things connect so easily. It is very possible that Dave didn't tell the whole truth about the "hex" he put on the guy for physical damage. That person could well have been for a member of Metallica, which wound up being Cliff Burton. Not only was his leg completely destroyed, but he died in that bus accident. This is the excerpt that describes the unexplainable coincidences and events that occurred that day from his Wikipedia page: In Sweden, on the Damage Inc. tour in support of Master of Puppets, the band members complained that the sleeping cubicles on their tour bus were unsatisfactory and uncomfortable. To decide who received pick of the bunks, Kirk Hammett and Burton drew playing cards.[16] On the evening of September 26, 1986, Burton won the game with an ace of spades, thereby getting the first choice of bunk. Burton turned to Hammett and said "I want your bunk"; Hammett then responded, "Fine, take my bunk, I'll sleep up front, it's probably better up there anyway." Burton was sleeping shortly before 7:00 a.m. on September 27 when, according to the driver, the bus skidded off the road (the E4, 12 miles (19 km) north of Ljungby),[17] and flipped onto the grass in Kronoberg County.[18] Burton was thrown through the window of the bus, which fell on top of him and killed him. The bus driver said that the crash was caused by the bus hitting a patch of black ice on the road, but James Hetfield later stated that he first believed the bus flipped because the driver was drunk. Hetfield also stated that he walked long distances down the road looking for black ice and found none. When local freelance photographer Lennart Wennberg (who attended the crash scene the following morning) was asked in a later interview about the likelihood that black ice caused the accident, he said it was "out of the question" because the road was dry and the temperature around 2 °C (36 °F), above the freezing point of 0 °C (32 °F). This was confirmed by police who - like Hetfield - also found no ice on the road. Ljungby detective Arne Pettersson was reported in a local newspaper to have said the tracks at the accident site were exactly like ones seen when drivers fall asleep at the wheel. However, the driver stated under oath that he had slept during the day and was fully rested; his testimony was confirmed by the driver of a second tour bus that was carrying the band's crew and equipment.[17] The driver was determined not at fault for the accident and no charges were brought against him.[19]
Superbe interview!
I discovered MEGADETH in 6th grade in the 80's! HELL YEAH DAVE'S A LEGEND! Credit to being a member of Metallica wrote killer riffs and songs with them. Then rises from the ashes started "The State of The Art Speed Metal Band" MEGADETH!! Survived all the shit and still here.
This is a great interview. Dave is right on with his talking to God daily. Christianity is a relation with God through a Jesus. It’s not a religion thing. None of us are worthy. To religious groups the church is often a building. In the the Bible the church is the people because there was no building. A relationship with Jesus is what it is all about.
Dave is one of the few people who can call himself a legend and nobody really disagrees with him. I’m reading his book now and when I read the part about how Metallica fired him and how they went about it, I could feel the despair reading his words. But then he went and pulled himself up out of that hole and created one of the greatest bands in metal. Not many people have that type of endurance and magic. He found a pamphlet on the bus ride home that stated “The arsenal of megadeath can’t be rid no matter what the peace treaties come to”. If that wasn’t a sign from the universe then I don’t know what would be.
I can understand Dave's cynicism and anger, because he had it rough growing up and he really has been hurt. All that pent up emotion went into Megadeths music which made them brilliant. He was the best guitarist in Metallica hands down Hetfield a close second but only in rhythm, the man is a legend. God he looks in his mid 70s now. A genius. Thanks Dave for the music 🎶.
love how he went from bein super energetic and happy explaining his dental work, to being a legend, to dissing lars, to basically child abuse and satanism. Thanks Dave, very cool.
I feel identified with him, I can understand that feeling of being lonely, when I was in school my mom had to work so I were almost everyday lonely after school, I remember struggling with the key sometimes, I had to make my own snack and my mom was ausent most of the time in my childhood, my stepfather were working too so I had to wait for them, there were nights when I stayed home alone with my stepfather taking care of me while my mom was working because she was the one that paid for all of my school stuff, clothes and he (who was way older than her) helped her with home and food so she was working to taking care of me and her life But in my case I woundnt say I had a bad childhood, it was normal, I played with dolls to entretain myself and I was happy like that too I grow up as an only child feeling lonely most of the time, I still feel lonely sometimes but I know im not the only one feeling that way, I dont let that let me down cause its just life at the end
Dave your absolutely a legend, the first time I seen Megadeth they were the opening band for Alice Cooper & I left the show with a Megadeth shirt & it never ended from there

Pretty sure he said he was on drugs here. This point in his career was one of his lowest. After all, nobody talks about a divorce and moving from your kids that happily unless you're on something to make you not think about it.

The most inspiring man I know.
baby
@@thedog7494 Hey baby 😘
Dave Mustaine is still alive....... And well.!
Salutations musicales.
Je suis entièrement d'accord
Dave has one of the greatest metal stories ever.. True legend..
He’s definitely one of my guitar hero’s. I’ve listened and tried to play back several megadeth songs growing up. His riffs show the dedication he has to his craft, a master.
Thank you so much for uploading this interview. So rich an full of information.
Good interview at a very interesting time of his life: divorce (which never ended up happening in the end). A brilliant mind, a true metal icon. My teenage years’ idol. God bless you Dave Mustaine 🙏🏻❤️
Amazing how he said in that interview that he would never play again The Conjuring, however, he did it back in 2018. Time flies so fast.
Really!? That son of a gun just couldn’t resist the devil, only joking love Dave!
Yea he reconsidered it because he wanted to play it. Not because of the hex obviously but because it was a good song.
Were the lyrics the same though?
Glad he decided to play it again as it's in my top 3 favorite Megadeath songs
And a year after that he was diagnosed with throat cancer. The man upstairs does not play around. In Dave's words though, it is speculation. But it is eerie how those type of things connect so easily. It is very possible that Dave didn't tell the whole truth about the "hex" he put on the guy for physical damage. That person could well have been for a member of Metallica, which wound up being Cliff Burton. Not only was his leg completely destroyed, but he died in that bus accident. This is the excerpt that describes the unexplainable coincidences and events that occurred that day from his Wikipedia page:
In Sweden, on the Damage Inc. tour in support of Master of Puppets, the band members complained that the sleeping cubicles on their tour bus were unsatisfactory and uncomfortable.
However, the driver stated under oath that he had slept during the day and was fully rested; his testimony was confirmed by the driver of a second tour bus that was carrying the band's crew and equipment.[17] The driver was determined not at fault for the accident and no charges were brought against him.[19]
You Dave Mustaine are beyond a legend. You are a KING
Dang this man aged hella quick, i can't believe all my guitar heros are getting so old, it feels so weird honestly
Look at him now, if you think this is crazy. This is from 2008.
On top of ol' teacher! 😂😂😂
Eh beh, j'aurais adoré voir ça dans ma grosse période metal, super intéressant ! Merci Arte !
I can't count how many savage quotes there are in this interview xD
Love both Metallica and Megadeth :)
Cool video🤘🏻
I love he how calls Lars out 10:50
I'm laughing so hard at 3AM
Dave is one of the few people who can call himself a legend and nobody really disagrees with him. I’m reading his book now and when I read the part about how Metallica fired him and how they went about it, I could feel the despair reading his words. But then he went and pulled himself up out of that hole and created one of the greatest bands in metal. Not many people have that type of endurance and magic. He found a pamphlet on the bus ride home that stated “The arsenal of megadeath can’t be rid no matter what the peace treaties come to”. If that wasn’t a sign from the universe then I don’t know what would be.
I kind of have a crush on Dave mustaine.
Surprisingly daves in a happy disposition in this interview, which is rare
I’m 46 years old and grew up knowing Megadeth and this is why I have so much respect for Jason newsted
Jason went through it - with those 2 clowns.
@@seagullpoet so Eric Bell 😅
Damn he sounded SO MUCH happier back then.
He’s had a lot of surgeries since then plus the years of abuse caught up so he’s aged quickly
I love hearing anything Dave has to say 💖
"Choose between me or Megadeth ".... women are crazy
As a woman I think she's crazy.. it says a lot x)
Did he divorce pam and get back together?
Une femme, quoi..
I'd never said that to dave lol
XD
This might be my favorite interview ever
L'un des meilleurs compositeurs du 20ème siècle. Merci pour cet entretien.
omg, this is the greatest interview ive ever seen with dave... love it...
Have you read the biography he wrote?I did the audio version which took about 10 hours.you should listen to it on youtube. It is great!
@@alegnalowe3679 Thank you Alegna will do 👍
I really appreciate how much class this guy has as apposed to other celebrities out there, such an intellect
What a great interview. Dave is on my list of artists I dont want anything to happen to them.
love how he went from bein super energetic and happy explaining his dental work, to being a legend, to dissing lars, to basically child abuse and satanism. Thanks Dave, very cool.
0:12 “life?? What do you mean life?? I ain’t got a life!!”
I feel identified with him, I can understand that feeling of being lonely, when I was in school my mom had to work so I were almost everyday lonely after school, I remember struggling with the key sometimes, I had to make my own snack and my mom was ausent most of the time in my childhood, my stepfather were working too so I had to wait for them, there were nights when I stayed home alone with my stepfather taking care of me while my mom was working because she was the one that paid for all of my school stuff, clothes and he (who was way older than her) helped her with home and food so she was working to taking care of me and her life
But in my case I woundnt say I had a bad childhood, it was normal, I played with dolls to entretain myself and I was happy like that too
I grow up as an only child feeling lonely most of the time, I still feel lonely sometimes but I know im not the only one feeling that way, I dont let that let me down cause its just life at the end
He’s so precious
Dave your absolutely a legend, the first time I seen Megadeth they were the opening band for Alice Cooper & I left the show with a Megadeth shirt & it never ended from there
This is Mustaine's greatest interview brutally honest, very candid.
I love and respect Dave and have for years. Angry Dave is my spirit animal
I love the way you are Mr Mustaine, thank you, I still remember the riffs of Holy wars I learnt when I was teenager, the best riffs in heavy metal history
Dave’s giggles are infectious! 😂
I absolutely adore Dave.He is a hero to me because he is honest and a surviver.I as always wish him the best of everything life has to offer.thank you metalica for giving us a fantastic guy!
You know whats cool, if you learn piano and get a general feel of the notes and scales and if you can read music you can pretty much learn any instrument
Can confirm
Fun fact I started in piano 🎹. Than ended up picking up a guitar the notes are very very similar
@@natoalvarez5762 Similar? They're exactly the same....
Thanks for all the great tunes Dave. Legend. 🤘
Damn even Dave's voice sounded like 1992 here.
I never saw Dave looking so happy.
It is cool to see him like that.
Pretty sure he said he was on drugs here. This point in his career was one of his lowest. After all, nobody talks about a divorce and moving from your kids that happily unless you're on something to make you not think about it.
Great interview
As a kid I admired Mustaine. I still think he's an outrageously talented artist. Speaks his mind freely, does stupid things, gets away with them, ends up wiser than before. Okay, so I apparently still admire him. Well..
MegaDave is a pioneer and one of the Greatest Metal Shredder OF ALL TIME🍺🥃👍
Long live Dave long live megadeth.
Thanks for uploading this. Dave always gives great interviews. He looks so happy here.
"My family in my mom's side are still Jehovas Witnesses, I'm sad for them because they're all going to Hell" 😂
he was being honest, and honestly its a valid thing to be sad about.
Every time I hear Dave being interviewed the more I like the guy. Just straightforward about everything, no bullshit no filler just telling it how it is. Fucking love this guy
4:40 I feel like Dave was happy to get divorced. I wonder why he stayed married.
One of the better Dave interviews
Dave Mustaine rules!!!
🔥🔥
One of the best interviews with Dave
"Lars is not a great drummer", man I agree with that statement. I've had many of arguments with people about that one.
He's not the most proficient drummer, but I doubt Lars really cares when he's busy snorting blow off a supermodel's ass on his yacht somewhere.
I love seeing him in a good mood like that
