In the US a lot of these sets mentioned could be purchased for 50% off at Walmart or Target. Thats where you have instances of people buying multiple sets at a time
I've had really mixed experiences with Rebrickable instructions. My biggest pet peeve is when they need a lot of extra parts but don't have a list of what you need so you have to figure it out yourself. At this point I just look for good/interesting parts usage and resign myself to the fact that I'm going to need to hit my parts collection pretty hard and redesign as I go to make things work.
