I think that Lego can justify the premium price due to the effort in designing the builds and various licensing fees. But if you're building a retired set, where Lego won't get any of the resale money, it makes sense to use 3rd party bricks.
I'm glad that you are helping us average people build alternative sets that are more reasonably priced than the Lego extortionists. A lot of us can't afford sets that are over a hundred dollars much less two hundred dollars. Keep up the good work.
I don't know. The cost of this webrick set was roughly comparable to the cost of the set when it came out BUT without the mini-figs, printed pieces, initial promotional costs (box art, ads, etc) and design costs for creating the build. So it seems like lego might be competitive already given all the hidden costs. But if you just want bricks and free lego instructions, then webrick is great.

I’m not coming at this from a “purist” angle, and I’m not even an aficionado by any means, but I think it’s important folks are aware that a huge contributor to the cost of Lego brand sets has to do with paying Lego employees-including the amazing engineers and designers that spend months creating these builds before they’re ever even brought to market or make a profit. Yes, Lego has made their instructions and parts lists available online, so yes, you can def rip them and then source the bricks from somewhere else. But just know that you’re not contributing to the source that invested in all that time and talent to produce those designs-which are the best in the world for a reason. I’m honestly not arguing either way, and I think it’s fine to source some bulk quantity pieces elsewhere if you’re building major MOCs and need to save some cash-I don’t think the number of folks doing this will make a huge dent in Lego’s sustainability. But it’s just a good awareness to keep in mind, and also can contribute to Lego prices going up. If everyone did this, it would only result in a race to the bottom where cheap is all that matters, and Lego couldn’t afford to pay for the talent that gets us these designs. Lego isn’t price-gouging or trying to rip off their customers. Lego is the company that is investing in all the people and their talent and skill. And they pay a competitive living wage to all their employees. That investment in people increases the price per brick vs a knock-off company that only snags their final work, and then manufactures a knock-off end-product material to copy it. Nothing is contributed to paying for what it took to get there. Just something good to be aware-the cost for Lego isn’t about the manufacturing costs alone, like it is for the copycats. But I appreciate this vid talking about the differences and similarities in the final end product. This is just something for people to keep in mind. Has nothing to do with being a purist or a brand fan; I only own a few Lego sets myself. But I do care about quality development and companies that pay their workers. And I think Lego build designs are incomparable and unmatched by any other, and I’m happy to pay for that.
I love how candid you are about using alternative bricks. For so long it’s seemed like every lego fan/content creator has been so hush hush about even the possibility of going that route. I’ve been buying bootlego for years at this point and have yet to have any issues and it’s nice to see someone going out there publicly and validating that, yes, this is a thing, and yes, it’s cost effective. LEGO isn’t owed anything from us. If they want to make the prices too high, you’re allowed to take your business elsewhere.
Same here. Why pay those crazy prices when you can get the same thing at a fraction of the cost. I have the Death Star and daily bugle. You couldn’t tell the difference.
I think Lego purest look at non Lego parts as a waste of money because they may feel that if a set is made of fake Lego or non Lego parts then that set is not worth anything in a resellers eye.
I don't mind alt brands for lego, the only thing I kinda regret is that it will get mixed up more and more in people's collections, and when I buy a second hand collection for parts I would prefer to have 100% lego or 100% alternative and not a mix. because not all copies are the same good quality as the Webricks seem to be
Watching your cat walking on the lego table made me smile, i've been kicking myself for not getting the bank before it retired. Maybe this way i could still build a bank in my city
im not even a lego builder myself i just love lego content and i think you might be one of the best addition to the community. beside your tipps your videos are on a very high quality level visual and audio wise. keep up the good work!
Great work! I am a purist when it comes to Lego, but my method for "scratch building" sets is to take my inventory lists and go pick bricks out of the bulk at my local Bricks & Minifigs store. If I keep running into a rare part that is statistically not going to show up in the bulk pile I order off of Bricklink.
Love your channel!! I’m a new lego fan, on a budget and i had no idea i could have every lego list on their website!! I’m so happy i’ve come by your channel. Also very glad you’re not against other brands. I’ve just completed a Nifeliz kit from amazon and i loved it !
Wish I could give you 100👍s. There is nothing wrong (in my personal view) of alternative brands. I build them all the time and honestly...no one notices the difference. Lego is getting crazy expensive, which is sad...but its forcing most of us to find other ways. Totally agree with omitting rare parts, and stickers/prints can always be custom made. Lego should be for everyone but sadly it's becoming more just for the rich. I think a healthy mix of both is just as good. Fantastic video!!!
Thank you so much for the kind words! LEGO is a tough hobby to get into because you realize how expensive it truly is. I just want people to be able to build for cheap! Lol
I've been building lego as an adult since the first modulars came out. But these days I've watched the prices just go crazy. Makes me sad its becoming out of reach for many at a time when we need hobbies. I love the collection I have but, like you, I am not ashamed to add in unique alt brands. I think lego as a brand is missing a lot of opportunities. Used to be a purist but life changes ,and income decline opened up my eyes to alts. I think its great if people can afford all real lego but they have to realise not everyone can. Alt brands give every socio-economic group the chance to enjoy the hobby. It's all about creativity. I hope you video goes far and wide to help people.
@@mishti06 100% agreed. I really appreciate your egalitarian attitude (one that I share). Like you say, Lego, or at least the hobby of building such sets with toy bricks, should be something that can be enjoyed by as many socioeconomic groups as possible.
Really thoughtful tips - and impressive production value as usual. Excited to try these out, we've always wished for a way to try retired builds without spending thousands of dollars. Thanks so much!
Webrick is my go to for all my Moc builds now. I am totally impressed with there quality, color and the clutch of there Bricks. There website is simple to use and they have a ton of parts in colors that Lego does not offer. Also I can not say enough about there custom service being top notch. So far every order I have placed has been spot on also with accuracy of the parts count.
Hey!! Are there any good other options or is this one of the best websites?? Im interested in trying getting bricks from another website, however im not sure so i thought id ask!
@@bland.l I have tried a lot of other sites but Webrick by far has the best variet,, quality not to mention there customer service is great. They always seem to have a great stock of parts. Also there prices are about the best around.
Built the cafe corner without spending one cent. It's all made with simple bricks. Had everything in my collection and what I didn't have the correct colour I just swapped and it still looked amazing.
It's curious to me that Lego never offered the service to order out of production sets as a complete partlist. Yes you can painstakingly go through pick-a-brick and select all the pieces, but it seems like a missed opportunity that they are losing out to third parties on.
There are 3,800 unique lego bricks. The factory couldn't realistically print all unique pieces from every retired set they've put out in the past 70+ years. The fact is that once lego retires a set, those unique prints just skyrocket because lego has no reason to continue to print the pieces. Lego is releasing 150+ new sets, just in January 2024. Lego didn't get where it is today by continuing to make wooden toys. They are constantly evolving & innovating.
@@Miduuza They could still add a "add this set" to pick-a-brick and then show which pieces are missing. Majority of the bricks on a retired set you can find on pick-a-brick after all and most of the time you can find alternatives for the missing pieces.
After this video I used webrick to purchase the parts I needed to build the Central Perk and Seinfeld Sitcomplex rebrickable model. I substituted the out-of-stock pieces with other fitting pieces, but some sort of error happened and they didn’t ship them to me. It’s all good though, after I contacted them about it they shipped me the rest of the pieces. I’ll definitely buy from them again, having all the pieces shipped from one place feels so much better than buying from 15 separate bricklink sellers, and you save so much money on shipping alone. This video has really opened a brand new world of Lego building for me
DUDE!!!! I'm making some mocs and I had to abandon part of the build because the parts that I wanted average $8 apiece due to appearing only in 1 set ever, on webrick they are $0.07 apiece!!!! I'm going to order some to check the quality, the part is dark red 1x2 plate with 2 fingers on end (it's a hinge piece). I need about 20 of them and there are zero vendors that have that many. This is a total game changer for me. So hyped!!!!
That's a great point! Even if you are a lego purist, WeBrick can be a great supplement for those expensive and rare pieces. The $9 key piece I mentioned in the video was only a few cents on WeBrick.
I quite agree with using 3rd party replacements for lego on the interior of the build, but on the exterior, I prefer using actual lego even if it does cost me more, and for printed parts, I like to print those out and glue them. I'm going to try WeBricks out, hope it works out well for the Daily Bugle I'm trying to buy for cheaper than the $350 it is currently.
That's a great strategy. For my MILS plates I will sometimes use 3rd party bricks on the inside but use real LEGO for the exterior too. LEGO pieces do look a bit better, but city building requires so many parts!
I took your advice from this video and got mine for $110. Only had to buy a few parts and custom stained glass windows plus some of the printed paintings Also had fun sorting thought my own collection for brink bank, had about %65 of my mine. Rest of the pieces I bought from Webrick.
What a great video. I wasn't aware of we brick but see you learn something new every day. Thank you for your posting. So many possibilities now. Will definitely continue to watch your posts. Have a great day.
So glad I stumbled across this video. I have bought a lot of bulk to use for ball contraptions or finishing my son’s sets that he left when he moved out. If I plan to sell something, I would use 100% lego but for ball contraptions I could use anything! I have pulled out a lot of mega block and other brands in the past due color or plastic issues but sounds like this is a perfect replacement! Great video!
I’m a new lego enthusiast. I’ve just stared to source and buy second hand lego pieces from mums in my local area in an attempt to build my own lego city style modular buildings. I love the idea of building a city but my bank account does not agree. I’m doing it as therapy and for the build not the investment. Sourcing other bricks from places like webrick are not a bad alternative either. Great video. Thanks.
I just subscribed because of how much I loved this video! I’ve always wanted to go back and buy the modular buildings from my childhood that I missed out on but they were super expensive! Now I can buy them for reasonable prices!
You made me do it. I checked out and old MOC build the wanted to get about 10 years ago, but the $80+ price tag was to much for me to justify it. Checked it out today on Webrick and got it for $16 (missing 3 printed parts that are hidden anyways in the cockpit).. Plus used the $5 off for a sign up coupon which covers the shipping cost. So $17 in total.
I think it's totally fine to use these bricks as an alternative. As long as you're not flipping sets & trying to pass them off as authentic, or replacing parts in authentic sets with bootleg bricks. It would be incredibly upsetting if i were to find even one bootleg piece in a retired set I purchased used.
@2:45 I swear to god the second I saw this shot I said to myself 'This isn't original LEGO'. You can see it, especially with the ingot pieces - they don't look as 'crisp' as original LEGOs do. That said, I can't convince myself to use other brands (not even in places where you don't see the bricks, like in a foundation). That might be dumb costwise, but a part of me thinks that it's just not the same *shrug*. Like an original painting and a print of it.
Big thanks to your video I just saved tons on a lego set I really wanted to buy but was really pricy bc they dont produce them anymore. Your video was really helpful and easy to follow 😊
I don’t personally have any alternative Lego bricks or sets but I will be starting a Lego city soon and I might dabble in alternative bricks there’s nothing wrong with saving money, especially in this economy
Very interesting video and I appreciate the alternative point of view about using non Lego products as it’s different from the majority of the Lego community. While I have not ventured outside the official Lego brand products, I don’t begrudge anyone who does, as there is a place for everyone to enjoy it how they see fit. In some ways I admire people bold enough to be open minded and trying something different. I would be curious how the webrick version you built would compare to sourcing Lego brick on a site like bricklink while omitting the same expensive pieces.
I knew about this to build retired sets in general, but I knew certain rare parts would still be extraordinarily expensive individually so this is a great video to find other work arounds
Thank you! I needed to hear this. I’ve been carrying some lego brand guilt. I bought a fake lego johnny 5 set and have been thinking about getting other sets. This solidifies it. I wont spend stupid money on retired sets
i brought my modular bank from aliexpress for £80 ish. i also replace some parts with new colour. eg sand green winow with dark green etc with stained glass :) that way its like lego but my own style. still much cheaper than lego stamped brick. in the end of day its just bricks.
@@LordDavid04 I'm sure that no one who is using off-brand parts would take them to a LEGO convention 😁 It's just for fun if you want the same buildings for less money!
@@MrSamperkins No way? That's a very generous offer. If you're serious, would love to talk to you in private haha feel free to send me a message on my email/Instagram/Twitter.
How do you find out what pieces are missing from your webrick order. Whenever I download the xml file bricklink claims to not have most of my pieces that are missing from the webrick order. Can I go on without some of those pieces?
I was also trying to figure this out just now. I downloaded the parts list from Rebrickable for the Brick Bank. I uploaded that list to WeBrick. Then I exported the xml for the missing and out of stock parts. However, when I tried to import the xml to Bricklink it failed and didn't find any of the missing parts. So I don't know what's going on. It would suck to have to try and find all the missing parts individually, but it might be worth it to save the $$.
Webrick could be costly to buy as there is practically no resale value. Also I hope you could have included the shipping cost and provided a total cost which should be bringing this closer to $200. Now, I am not 100% loyal to Lego, but I better spend $400 and have an opportunity to resale with more money in future than spending $200 with no ROI. Kindly let me know you pov on this if possible.
8:59 I understand what you mean about the Lego faces. But for me, I loved playing with Legos as a kid, so I guess I started to love the figures. Even if they did look a bit weird.
If you really want to use custom prints but don't wanna pay the extra 20$ a piece, there is a solution (although I'm certainly not the first person to think of it): send the prints into a label maker, and print them as stickers to put on the pieces. Surely many people have tried this already, and it can't cost all that much, especially if you already have a label printer
If a set I want is still in production, I’ll buy from LEGO. If it’s disco’d and still available at a reasonable price, I’ll Bricklink it as a set. I bought the first 4-5 modulars while they were new…then slept few a couple I really want (Bank and Diner). I’m going to check out the difference between part sourcing off of Bricklink and WE Brick. We’ll see where it goes!
I really like the fact you are building on a budget. I can't justify the cost of a lot of lego and only have limited space to build as my wife has banished my Lego to the shed in the garden.
Hey NB! Fellow AFOL here. At the very beginning of the video you have the bank modular on a rotating turntable. Can you tell me what brand/model that turntable is? I can’t find one that can support the weight of a modular and I need a few for an upcoming show in September. 💜💜
Hello! Absolutely, this is the JAYEGT Motorized Rotating Display Stand, 5.74inch /22lbs Load, 360 Degree Electronic Turntable Display. I got it on Amazon for about $22. There is also a 10 inch version they say can support 55 pounds. Good luck with your show!! Here is the link: a.co/d/7J745Jv
Great video! New to the channel and enjoyed this one so much I became a subscriber! I especially love some of the production value, and the music choice and editing at 11:59 reminded me of the intro to House of Cards! Great work. PS what is that great track?
I have mixed a company called strictly bricks in with my lego bricks before they specialized in unique plates and I got a 32 by 32 color pack for my 16th birthday quite a few years ago and honestly love them especially the grey ones and tan plates which I got 2 green, 2 blue, 2 grey and 2 tan ones and 2 half circle blue ones in a pack as a gift from my mom as an early gift. 1 of the grey and tan ones actually got used to make a space lab for my city a few years ago the walls are all ofical lego bricks but the floor and roof are not but you can't even tell.
I have bought the tile sets from them. I got the bulk set and the pixel set. That one comes with plates and 1by1 tiles. The bulk set has 2by2 tiles. I also got a tiny tower and stacker set that's no longer available. The tiles I got on sale other wise they cost alot.
After I got my 2by2 tiles I made a garage moc that is covered in tiles. The floor the roof everything is. I couldn't help it when I got them in. Tiles are expensive and especially when you get them from lego.
Great video, I just recently started discovering all the great (cheap) tools available for building legos, including ones made freely available by Lego. Seems they get a bad wrap for price gouging or what not.
LEGO is the best, but they are overpriced for that reason. I like to help people find what else is out there because it's such an expensive hobby anyway. Thanks for the comment!
I pieced together the Cafe Corner thanks to a local used Lego store and Bricklink. I was piecing together a few other modulars before I realized I don't have the space for them ._. I'm having trouble convincing myself to try off-brand bricks, mainly cause idk what I have against them. It just... feels wrong. Not that I have anything against people that go with those instead of Lego. Edit: I should've waited until the end of the video to comment. I think what you mentioned about Lego just feeling right to put together is a big part of it. I'll have to try WeBrick parts and see for myself. I have been wanting to put together either a custom steam locomotive so maybe I'll try WeBrick for one
Yeah, there is a stigma against third party bricks from a lot of the community. That's okay, it's not for everyone, but if you don't mind experimenting it's the #1 way to save money on bricks
Maybe Lego could do a remix-version of the old sets(if they ever run out of ideas...), so new and old builders get something new but also familiar. Or just introduce the old sets again to the market. I mean they would definitely get off the shelves fast.
Yeah, after I recorded this I noticed that they didn't have many old sets. It seems that they go back until about 2000 or so with at least the most popular ones. I'm sure you can find those missing instructions online somewhere it just may take some digging!
BBack in my day('90s='00s) "alternive" Notlegos weren't cheaper and required super glue to lock and fit they never did... But I have to admit now a days I hear good thing from not legos so maybe I should thy them... Which used seems to be half the price of new and We brick seems to be a trid on normal lego... I wonder how they do it if they are with in 10% of legos in all aspects?
There seems to be quite a few lego competitors cropping up these days. Some of them are cheap and low quality, but many are getting quite good, so you just have to know the good brands. Thanks for watching!
A couple questions - what is the shipping time to get the parts from China? And, could you explain how to use the exported out of stock parts list on brick link? The XML file does not seem to be compatible there, and you didn't really show that part of the process. Would appreciate it! Thanks!
It's generally a couple of weeks from China. WeBrick picks and ships usually in 3-5 days, depending on the volume of pieces you order. Then it goes to the China shipper for a couple of days. A day through China customs, and then the ride across the pond - sometimes there's a delay before it actually gets transported. Then it goes through US customs - usually another day - and gets handed off to the US shipper - maybe another day delay here, and they usually take about 3 days to get it to you. I found WeBrick's order tracking to be very detailed and easy to follow. The file he exported out of ReBrickable was a ReBrickable .CSV file, so it's not directly compatible to BrickLink. There's also a BrickLink .XML option that will produce the file you're needing. The CSV is easier to edit if you're savvy and want to make color changes or part substitutions before uploading. ReBrickable is a good interchange place between formats because they support so many. So you can take files from anywhere and import them to a list there, and then export them into whichever format you need.
I watched this video in the past and was going to use webrick to get parts for an inverted corner modular build and went to their site and an error screen came up saying "web server is down" ..is the company still doing business? Just wondering of somehow I messed something up or if the error was genuine, that's all
I've built 7 of the modulars using real Lego bricks that I bought on the aftermarket for much cheaper, and put 3, 4 and 5 more stories on all of them. 3rd-party bricks? Why? You can get used Lego for almost as cheap. I've re-bricked the 1st 4 modulars for far less than the aftermarket price!
I love this idea, and I’m definitely gonna use it this summer when I want some new sets; I had a play around with the websites and the palace cinema came out to be half the price if not less than what eBay was selling for! But then I also did it with the boutique hotel and some were cheaper and some were only slightly more expensive, yet again, they would all be second hand ones and this way would be brand new ones, and I guess the palace cinema is a much older set and therefore more expensive and has a higher want, interesting to see how the prices vary!
I think buying alternative basic Lego pieces is great and personally I would still get the special pieces, I believe they are what make the set stand out than other sets, but I will definitely use webrick for the basic/unprinted parts
As a Lego collector i'm not interested in buying knockoff Lego pieces but i don't judge people who do it.When i was collecting Hot Toys figures sometime i was buying bootleg figures because the official brand were to expensive. Not everybody as a lot of money so it's a good thing to have cheaper alternative.
Just subbed! As a videographer, your shots, lighting and edit are on point. Is video your main profession? I see a c-stand so I’m assuming so. Great work!!
How do you remove the parts you dont want to order? lets say you already have a good chunk of the pieces and want to remove them from the check out, i cant find the option
I have ordered 3 or 4 sets of bricks from WeBricks. Color can be VERY inconsistent. I ordered a bunch of trans (dark) blue tiles, and they were all over the map in color--with 3 different shades of blue which went from slightly darker than Lego brand trans blue to slightly lighter than Lego brand trans dark blue. Ended up ordering replacement bricks from Lego. Similarly, my whites ranged from Lego white to slightly yellowed white to slightly tan white. It looked really obvious on my ski slope. Other than these two colors, everything else was just fine. Brick tolerances were not as good as Lego, so some bricks -- like the shorter axles were too long and interfered with the motion of some models. The solution was to trim the axles until they fit and did not bind. Not an ideal solution. Some other parts didn't lock together as well as Lego bricks do. So, overall, I save money by buying from WeBricks, but I always end up having to order some replacement bricks from Lego or Bricklink.
I have a mix of both Lego brand bricks, and various others, I can definitely tell the difference in quality between certain brands, and of course Lego itself. I honestly didn't mind getting complete sets that were 'stolen' from Lego, because the thing is, if the set is no longer available, I can't buy it from Lego anyway. They are not gonna make money off me either way. I also did a large moc creation in my city, and I bought those parts out of China as well, if I had bought those from Lego, it would have been 4x the cost. I like Lego, but I also like a ton of other stuff, so I have to choose where to buy it from.
I'm quite satisfied with WeBrick, although I wish they'd give you a "Place an Order" option for out-of-stock parts. I can build modulars of my own design - including using bricks in colours Lego don't make (i.e minifig utensil telescope in red, for railings) - for a price that, while high, is still less than the cost of an official lego modular.
I found a AliExpress a very good place to get my knock off Legos. I’ve gotten four of the street view buildings and a garden building there’s no backs on them but that’s OK as you were saying in the other video you can always put the backside on. With extra pieces. Or you 13:57 could put the buildings back to back so you don’t have to see inside but that’s the fun with going and playing with the Legos inside.move them around. I just spent $102 today with shipping included. By buying the Cuba church and a treehouse four road pieces. some railroad track and a cute little florist shop so three main buildings and some odds and ends for $102 that’s pretty darn good.
Sorry for any confusion, I don't have all those modulars haha. That clip is actually from the video from LEGO with Jamie Berard going over all the modular buildings they've made. I should've labeled it.
@@NewBrickerton I actually hit pay dirt one time. I bought a huge tub of Lego from a methhead once. In the tub were 90% of the pieces needed for a Brickbank. Including the windows.
Would you happen to have any tips on keeping WeBrick pieces separate from LEGO brand pieces? Like for personal projects, I'm fine using offbrand and this looks very promising, but if I'm part of a LUG collab they're going to be more strict about it. Just worried that once imposters enter the house (however high quality) there'll be no escape 😅
I totally understand, for me I would recommend not mixing the bricks in builds if possible. For example, if you are building a building I'd use all WeBrick parts or only LEGO parts. This will also help in the case of slight color differences in the plastic, which does happen occasionally. Organization wise for the piece collection you'll just need to be careful and keep them separate. If you have separate storage then you can be confident of which is which.

@@Gurkenglas999 bro you don’t even have proper grammar how are you going to fix someone else.
'bootlego' .. what a simple yet brilliant find....
Same here. Why pay those crazy prices when you can get the same thing at a fraction of the cost. I have the Death Star and daily bugle. You couldn’t tell the difference.
@@scottishdude9682 cool, you inspired me to do a search for parts for such a project,
I think Lego purest look at non Lego parts as a waste of money because they may feel that if a set is made of fake Lego or non Lego parts then that set is not worth anything in a resellers eye.
@@iamfallin4ux3 Thats how I feel. Plus deep in my soul I just know I have a fake product and I don't like that feeling haha
“You wouldn’t pirate a Lego modular building.”
Wow, thanks! I really appreciate that. Thanks for the comment!
Thank you! I'm glad that you liked it!
Thanks so much for the kind words!
They have thought of that. That's why they own bricklink 😅
Majority of the bricks on a retired set you can find on pick-a-brick after all and most of the time you can find alternatives for the missing pieces.

i love how your cat just runs around the city its like Godzilla but in lego.
Just getting into Lego at age 39 and my word - the tools available for building any set on the cheap, EASILY is insane - thanks for educating me !!
As someone who is just now getting into Lego and wanting to build a city of my own this is awesome!
Thank you. As someone who is in college and doesn’t have much disposable income. Love your emphasis on affordability
This video has really opened a brand new world of Lego building for me
That is amazing! Thank you for sharing. I'm gonna be able to order more pieces from them soon, you're right, the single source is so much easier.
I discovered Webrick about a year ago and the savings is amazing. The pieces are good quality and color match. Thanks for the video.
Glad you like them! It's nice to be able to get a lot of parts affordably.
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks very much
So glad I stumbled across this video.

Ugh... 3 weeks later, I get an email saying their logistics provider lost my order. Not a good first start for me......
Thanks for teaching us ways to get lego for cheap in 2023 😮
Happy to help! Glad you liked it
I think it's totally fine to use these bricks as an alternative. As long as you're not flipping sets & trying to pass them off as authentic, or replacing parts in authentic sets with bootleg bricks. It would be incredibly upsetting if i were to find even one bootleg piece in a retired set I purchased used.
Totally. It's for personal use only. Don't try to fool others or pass them off as LEGO to make a quick buck, not cool.
Dude, I owe you a big thanks! I had no idea this was a thing. Great way to finally build old sets.
Glad you liked it! Thank you for watching!
I am now subscribed to your channel because of this video, thank you. Does webrick ship to Australia?

That's a good question! I will have to give that a shot. Thank you for the comment Jason!
I knew about this to build retired sets in general, but I knew certain rare parts would still be extraordinarily expensive individually so this is a great video to find other work arounds

How do you find out what pieces are missing from your webrick order. Whenever I download the xml file bricklink claims to not have most of my pieces that are missing from the webrick order. Can I go on without some of those pieces?
Confused what you do with the missing or out of stock parts? Do those parts get reinserted back into rebrickable or lego website somehow?
I was also trying to figure this out just now. I downloaded the parts list from Rebrickable for the Brick Bank. I uploaded that list to WeBrick. Then I exported the xml for the missing and out of stock parts. However, when I tried to import the xml to Bricklink it failed and didn't find any of the missing parts. So I don't know what's going on. It would suck to have to try and find all the missing parts individually, but it might be worth it to save the $$.

@@NewBrickerton Don't we all!

I understand what you mean about the Lego faces.
But for me, I loved playing with Legos as a kid, so I guess I started to love the figures.
Even if they did look a bit weird.
It was mostly a joke, they are simple but definitely classic!! :)

@barbiegirl 2100 Yeah, I don't know the original price my mom paid for the plates, but they definitely helped with 1 project for my Lego City.
After I got my 2by2 tiles I made a garage moc that is covered in tiles. The floor the roof everything is. I couldn't help it when I got them in. Tiles are expensive and especially when you get them from lego.
Extremely valuable video, thanks so much Michael
Thank you for the comment Joe!
No hate toward you, only my greatest respect towards you a wonderful job Lego needs to steps down some this works for me 110% all the way!
Thank you very much! I appreciate it.
Maybe Lego could do a remix-version of the old sets(if they ever run out of ideas...), so new and old builders get something new but also familiar. Or just introduce the old sets again to the market. I mean they would definitely get off the shelves fast.
Some of the instructions are missing on the Lego website, like old technic, town, and minor updates
Yeah, after I recorded this I noticed that they didn't have many old sets. It seems that they go back until about 2000 or so with at least the most popular ones. I'm sure you can find those missing instructions online somewhere it just may take some digging!
Im going to use this strategy to build the cafe corner and the green grocer
Technically the Brick Bank is the 4th Creator Expert modular building. Only eight of them had the CE branding on the boxes
Good point! I was going off the list online, but you are right. They weren't always Creator Expert and now they are Lego Icons.

Just wondering of somehow I messed something up or if the error was genuine, that's all
Check again, I'm not sure if their server is down or what but the website is working now for me!
Dude how do you not have a million followers? Bravo

This video is so helpful to us budget builders out there. This guy is actually making useful videos. Let's get you to 10k subs

You’re video production is superb! I’m subscribed. I’m about to binge all your content.

Yes, aliexpress is a great place to get off-brand modulars, then you can use WeBrick if you ever want to build MOCs or custom builds.

The minifig in the portrait on the bank wall must have been a time traveller from the future 😯
I have some plans to create my own mocs or modify existing versions, so glad to learn about webrick. Will be looking to them for parts.
