When I played SoulSilver over a decade ago, and wanted to catch a shiny Latios, I just used an action replay code to make one appear in the wild for me. I regret nothing.
@Anthony Thatcher Action Replay is/was a 3rd-party piece of hardware designed to have GBA and DS game cartridges. You put the Action Replay device into your DS, put your DS cartridge into the game slot on the action replay, turn on your DS and then run any pre-programmed cheat codes on your game.

Did you really have to go from the save file you used before talking to the NPC? Or could you get it to one of your roots, save before stepping into the grass, and reset quicker? Or would it be the same frame every reset by doing it that way?
What a beautiful shiny. I'm the same with the Hoenn region: it's like a home to me. I love going back and seeing what's in my Sapphire PC box and battling the Elite Four over and over. Gen 3 always gives me that bit of nostalgia as it's the generation I grew up with. I'd watch my brother play XD Gale of Darkness and I'd play Sapphire when I learned what Pokémon was and how to play. It's such a great game!
Small tip for HGSS menu, if you leave your bag/pokégear/any menu using the touch screen instead of pressing B you don't have to press B again to close the selection menu

Yea if that's what he does it's beyond crazy. If you assume 2 minutes from the restart to encounter, 12 000 resets means 400 hours..
