I Hunted Every Shiny Roaming Pokemon

- After 3 and a half years, I completed my quest to find every single Shiny Roaming Pokemon in Gen 2, 3, 4 & 5. I've put together this supercut for you all to enjoy and watch at your leisure.
In total, I did 103,891 encounters for all 17 (not including the Gen 5 pseudos) with an average of 6,246 per shiny roamer. Underodds for the win!
The highlights of this quest were probably the Entei in 100 seen in Crystal along with the Suicune in FireRed. The Lati twins in Ruby and Sapphire too. I'm really proud of the Gen 3 Roamers in particular. I feel like they're still super difficult and take a lot of attention to hunt.
The low point was probably the Latios in SoulSilver. I don't really know why but I really disliked that hunt. I'm usually one to double hunt with something else on the side but that hunt was difficult to match something to. It felt like it dragged on a lot. Sometimes a hunt just doesn't agree with you I guess.
Generation 2 was insane. I absolutely had luck on my side when doing these.
It doesn't feel real that it's done, it's over. I keep forgetting it's finished. It'll sink in soon.

@@ericwtfsky He purposely ran away to catch it on the water with a dive ball. It remains shiny if you run away. And I believe he did it on the water on purpose so it was easier to catch with the dive ball.

Other than the amazing achievement of catching all roamers I have to say that the compilation is really well edited and super entertaining. Back to back highlights really fit well in this case, and if people want to see more they can just check out the original videos.

I back my saves up. I don't keep them in Stadium, I just show them off. My saves are safe :)

I find the existence of shiny pokemon very confusing because...if there is only 1 of each legendary pokemon "canonically" then technically that Shiny legendary would just be a normal legendary

What do you mean?
What does it mean when it says x amount seen and x amount encounters
It represents how many times he’s seen a legendary bird that wasn’t shiny. Since he was looking for all three at the beginning the encounters were 3 times the amount of resets; and the same for when he was searching for two birds, the encounters were double the resets.

Steve, congrats on this epic shiny hunting journey you embarked on, such amazing targets and a really great achievement, don't understand the dislikes, though.
I also caught the birbs in Platinum Shiny once but uhhh, with no resets. All three of them were Shiny all at once and I literally did nothing; they were just there. I was simply training a Meowth I had hatched, ran into the grass and - BAM! Shiny Zapdos. After I caught them, I decided to go after the other 2 and they were both Shiny. Absolutely NO cheats used, as Mespirit was not Shiny. And for anyone wondering what the odds are of that actually happening, it’s a 1 in 707,824,406,528 chance (yes, someone calculated it and figured this out) It was wild

Just encountered a shiny roaming raikou in SS while watching this video
Does anyone have an estimate for how long it would take to get all of these in total hours? I always try to do the math for these types of catches and it comes out to like 40+ hours each, which is insane but also seems accurate. Is that the actual time it would take to get one of these?
It's variable, they're roamers. It's the encounters/resets that are the important factor. If you focus on time, you'll drive yourself crazy.
@@Sonikks Thanks for the reply! Not a shiny hunter or even really a pokemon player anymore, but I really love your videos and your enthusiasm! I think with things like roamers it's interesting to look at time since something like a static encounter is going to be significantly shorter. Even for hunts like starters, the total time is staggering for someone who doesn't do this type of thing, thinking hey I should try and do a playthrough with my favorite shiny starter starts to set in when you realize that each encounter can take over a minute. Definitely the focus here shouldn't be on time and should be on achievement for which you deserve a congratulations, it was just something I was interested in.
@@LetsGoRelo I have to disagree with time being variable for roamers. It doesn't make sense to say that really. Everything has an average and trends towards a mean. Time is probably the most important measurement too, as opposed to encounters. Encounters are meaningless. If someone does a shiny hunt and it takes 10k encounters, no one is going to be able to relate to that. If you tell them you spent 200 hours on the other-hand... then they can start to understand.
Your question was on average how much time would someone expect to hunt all of these? 40+ hours each isn't even close unfortunately, it would be way more than that on average (if they were single-hunted of course).
GEN 2 Roamers, 3 total: ~752 hours
GEN 3 FRLG Roamers, 3 total: ~1,446 hours
GEN 3 R/S Roamers, 2 total: ~566 hours
GEN 4 HGSS Roamers, 4 total: ~820 hours
GEN 4 Plat. Roamers, 5 total: ~1,046 hours
Gen 5: I dont count gen5, lol
17 Roamers total, you'd expect to take at least 4,630 hours, single-hunting to hit odds on all of them combined. Thats an average of about ~275 hours per Roamer.
Again, that's only to hit odds, which you would expect to see a shiny, but we know it doesn't work that way. Soniks said his average per shiny roamer was 6,264. So then that total would be ~3,518 total hours (207 hrs/per roamer). But if someone where unlucky, and say averaged 10k per shiny roamer then they would ~5,651 hours total (332 hrs per roamer). So now you can kind of get a better idea. Again these are single-hunted numbers, and assumes the person knows how to do the hunt., and is doing the most efficient method available. Which btw, no one does for FRLG roamers.... But its a good basis nevertheless.
