Hey before you comment saying this video is outdated, I made an update on it when scarlet and violet came out! You can watch that video here: ruclips.net/video/e7TRTrrRc9c/видео.htmlsi=1oBiLkuKNuvv0LdC Also these videos will always become outdated at some point. Maybe when the next Pokémon game comes out I’ll make another update!
I'd say that Gyarados is basically free since you encounter one through the main plot of Johto. It's a lot easier than the conditions surrounding haxorus or the dratini/gible gifts in the Unovan sequels which also make a strong case. Don't know whether you'd find them easier than breeding but something to consider.
Ahh that’s a good point! However I really only made the free category specifically for shedinja as it’s the only shiny that is essentially a 2 for the price of 1 lol
@@gabrielalves303 no because every evolution doesn’t give you a second shiny to go along with it. But for the most part every evolution is in the same category as the base stages with a few exceptions. Everything about my reasoning is explained in the video
I actually didn't know that breeding a Nidoran will give you a 50/50 chance for each Nidoran gender. I always assumed they were treated as different species when breeded
As someone who isn't a shiny hunter hunter myself, stuff like just makes me even more impressed at the insane dedication you guys who do hunt shinies have. My friend is an avid shiny hunter and convinced me to Masuda hunt litwick a while back because it's my favorite pokemon, and after almost two thousand eggs I finally got it. I love my shiny litwick to death but no way could I ever do something like that again, so huge respect to all the shiny hunters in the community. You guys are awesome.
To be fair though 2000 eggs for a masuda method Shiny is very unlikely to happen and with egg hatches being slower you would probably get some full odds shinies doing random encounters in the time. So it’s all in perspective and not always about odds! Congrats on your litwick though I commend you for sticking with it as that’s brutal to go that far!
I got a legitimate shiny Ho-Oh in Ultra Wormhole with my brother yesterday, he got a shiny Lugia after 524 resets and i got a shiny Ho-Oh in 799 resets, i was so happy when it happened and it's my first shiny Legendary Pokemon.
That’s awesome! Funny enough I’ve actually never gotten a shiny legendary before but I’ve hunted for a couple shiny mythicals if those count lol congrats though those are great shinies!
@@ThedomiNATION same I had never gotten one until I shiny hunted kyurem in bw2 last month and got it under 20 SRs, luckiest pokemon experience ever only bested by when I first got bw many years back a while after it's release, around 2013, and my first wild encounter was a shiny patrat but once I got it my game crashed. This is redemption for that incident lol, black kyurem is one of my top 5 favorite shinies so I'm so happy I got it so earl, currently hunting the starters on my white 2 copy and hunting shiny eelektross on my black 2 copy that I got the kyurem (using the repel strat with static).
@@mannyadorno7968 The challenge was to find what pokemon was missing from the tier list from when I had to make a whole new tier list myself. This happened when I ranked the generation 4 pokemon not at the beginning of the video
2:25 What I also love about Nincada is that when you catch it in a master ball in original Ruby, Sapphire, or Emerald, you'll get Shedinja in a master ball as well. From what I've read this doesn't work anymore in the remakes. 25:40 You Can't get Jirachi with your own OT in the original RSE games, so even the Pomeg barry glitch will unfortunately betray itself. I do have a shiny Channel Jirachy. I'll upload it eventually to Home once I got it some nice ribbons. Earth Ribbon will be one of them since that one is so rare. 32:32 Darkrai and Shaymin can be shiny hunted in Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum after you get their respective events. In 2018 there was a method found with connecting these games to a certain cerver that years later still worked for both gen 4 and gen 5 alike.
same, I got 2 from the pogo event (1i caught one from a friend cuz its my favorite shiny) then i have one from the black and white event that’s been confirmed legit
As a curious fact, during the tour where they gave you the mission of Mew shiny, steps back they give you Ditto shiny. And another fact, during that same event there was an error and if you were in Sydney you could receive the mission, bonuses and others without having bought the ticket (that happened to me haha). They gave extra things to the people who bought the ticket as compensation by the way
I found a random shiny shinx in legends arceus yesterday, and I planned out a team before it and luxray is on it :D And yes, I know Shinx is extremely common, but still i like shiny Luxray
I found a shiny Budew near the beginning and I now have a Roserade on my main team! I was especially pleased because Roselia was the only pokemon I've ever tried to shiny hunt in Emerald. Got about 2k encounters but gave up :( but I have one now!
22:36 I find it funny that you said this and a few days later Niantic announced Deoxys forms is raids for February all with shiny forms, not complaining as I missed it last time, just a funny coincidence
in sword and shield rockruff evolves simply by the time of day, like espeon and umbreon. You still need a Rockruff with Own Tempo to get dusk form, but once you have one from a max raid battle, you can simply breed it.
For Combee, you can use the Gen 8 evolution glitch if you have the shiny Male Combee. Basically you initiate evolution of a normal female Combee, then force the game to select the shiny Male instead.
Genesect was a really frustrating one. I dropped over 60 raid passes on that when it was available, no shiny. I did get one with perfect stats though, so that was a nice consolation prize. hopefully now that all the forms are out, they'll release the shiny again, and maybe even the ability to change forms like you can with furfrou and hoopa Also, wanted to comment that shiny mew was made available as a masterwork research reward for GO Tour Kanto in 2021. Unless I'm mistaken, we still don't know what the masterwork research reward will be this year for GO Tour Johto. I'm just crossing my fingers that in 2023 there's a go tour Hoenn that makes shiny Jirachi available, and maybe we'll get shiny Manaphy the year after that.
Yep I mentioned the Kanto tour mew in the video. As for celebi, all we know so far is that we can get an additional normal celebi for johto tour. I can see jirachi coming maybe next year but after get it could be an extremely long time before we see the sinnoh mythicals shiny in GO. They aren’t even available as normal forms yet.
Looks like we got Shiny Jirachi as you said, but Shiny Shaymin instead this year in GO (still no Manaphy at all?) The shiny Celebi was released in a much easier quest actually
Amazing!! I’m hunting for a Tepig in black(or white) version while watching this. I am hunting for a shiny roaming suicune so I hope I get it, that’s on the side. Good luck!!
There’s a problem with hunting roamers, their shininess is determined upon the first time you encounter them (I believe) if it isn’t shiny no matter how many times you chase it it can never be shiny
They had a Pokémon GO event where you could get a shiny celebi, and I got them and transferred them to my swsh game. Still very hard to get though. Shiny celebi is a favorite of mine as you might find from my pfp lol, great color scheme and I love the character in mystery dungeon 2.
Weird thing about shiny ditto, basically in generation one if you have a pokemon you know to be shiny when transferred up to generation 2 and you teach it mimic and mimic transform the ditto will be able to transform a second time and because of a weird glitch, it will always be shiny.
49:17 thanks to the way Pokemon has been updated over the years you can technically make almost any shiny Pokemon competitive ready thanks to bottle caps, ev training, nature mints and exp candies
Yeah it’s great! My first ever hunted shiny was dratini and it was adamant nature! After sending it up to later generations, I managed to give it perfect ivs and I plan to give it its hidden ability when I get enough dynite ore!
Wormholes are easy. Watching a movie and got it. Was the wrong nature even though I synced so I didn't save. Did it again, same thing, until the third or fourth try then got the nature I wanted. So about 2-4 movies worth of time. Wormholes are great if you wanna pass the time with a movie.
Great video, though I would love a version of this where you rank every shiny on how hard it is to get them in the wild, and put only the shinies you can only get by breeding for them (Like phione) in the breedable tier.
That might be a little too specific as I feel my explanations for most shinies get the job done in the list. However I am gonna try to tackle a tier list where I rank every possible way to hunt for a shiny. Still unsure if I’m gonna rank it based on difficulty or my personal opinion though!
God bless that Jirachi masterwork research in pokemon go. It will probably take me a year to finish but it’s less time that lots of pokemon colosseum resets.
I just started my Shiny Unown Challenge :) I'll throw in one thing regarding Letters I and V being the only 2 in Gen 2 you can get. If you only unlock 1 Unown Puzzle The odds of getting either of those forms is SUPER fast. Like you can get multiple V's in 3 days. Both only took me maybe 4 hours to get. So I'd bump those down to Easy at least :3
It’s funny right after recording this video I thought of that! But after hours of things going wrong I figured I would just leave them there than record myself changing them 🤪
I do go back to DexNaving the Unown once in a while. Surely a long hunt for all 28. I do look forward to your shiny hunting method tier list. I'm sure it's by preference but SOS and DexNav are my favorite.
@@absollnk I would like SOS more if call rates were the same across all pokemon, but some of them are a massive pain in the ass to chain this way because it takes so long to call in a replacement. It's still less mind numbing than breeding, but I think pokeradar in gen 4 was the one I liked the most.
The odds have probably changed since then. But I recently got 3 shiny Meltans. Which was cool. Because I evolved 2. Kept 1 shiny Melmetal as my buddy, and sent the other shiny Melmetal and Meltan into Let's Go Eevee.
You can transfer non shiny arceus in diamond if they’re level 100 and caught in either jubilife or the mystery zone. Darkrai is the only void shiny that’s transferable from gen 4
Yep I actually have tutorials for these on my channel that’s why I stated they arceus even though can be hunted in gen 4 it isn’t considered legal and can’t be sent into Pokémon bank without the use of 3rd party software
A thing about the Lycanroc forms I got to mention is that in SwSh, they're just based on time (8 AM - 8 PM Midday, 8 PM - 8 AM Midnight) Now Dusk on the other hand needs a special event ability... Rockruff's Hidden Ability is Steadfast, while Dusk needs Own Tempo. Luckily, you can breed Own Tempo from one of the Event Rockruffs you could have gotten at the launch of USUM. It also needs to be between 7 - 8 PM... or 5 - 6 AM/PM in USUM, depending on the game
Yeah I did not realize that when making the video. I think all I would do though would be to put the midday and midnight into Breedable and keep dusk in easy
I noticed you forgot to mention Eternal Flower Floette as being unobtainable (without a cheating device ofc), both normally and shiny, but understandable since it's an odd one. Also, I'd personally add both male and female forms for Unfezant, Frillish/Jellicent, and Pyroar because the difference between them are so big compared to most gen 1-4 Pokemon (look up the list, gen 5 onward gender differences sections are tiny lol). The first two Pokemon being in Easy tier with Nidoran and such, but male Pyroar being with Vespiquen and Salazzle in Medium because the rate is just as low at 1/8 chance (probably put female at the low end of Easy tier since there's still a chance of male). One more thing, the Star (yellow) and Ribbon (purple) items to evolve Alcremie into those forms are event-exclusive and now no longer available unless you find people to trade those items with (or cheat, ofc). So, they should be in Obtainable But Can't Be Hunted, which side note, if Flower and Poke Ball Vivillon ever released, they would likely be in that category too (or in an form-exclusive category, Idk). Otherwise, this is a great overall list! Long comment, but I'll conclude by saying I'd love to see a generation by generation breakdown of this, for all Pokemon available in that generation. It'd probably be more or less the same for gen 4 onward due to Masuda Method existing in those games (which could be excluded for all intensive purposes), but for gen 2 and gen 3 it'd be very interesting to see where the otherwise common Pokemon would rank. For gen 2, gen 1 would be included since you can't get all of the Pokemon available without using gen 1 games anyway. For gen 3, Pokemon Colosseum and XD can be used as alternative ways to hunt certain Pokemon (coughHo-OhcoughLugiacough). So hard to get a full dex in gen 3 games to begin with so would be interesting to see where the shinies line up!
I did not include AZ’s flowette simply because you can’t even get the normal form currently and I didn’t have a home sprite for it. As for the gender differences, I elected to only include the ones that were actual form changes and not simply cosmetic differences as it would’ve caused a snowball effect of me including literally every gender difference and it would’ve gotten really messy. For the different alcremie forms, you can still get all the sweets at a battle cafe, cram-o-matic, and as a daily item from a watt trader in the crown tundra so they’re still obtainable! The pokeball and fancy pattern vivillon might be released shiny at some point but since they are not and no one can know how long it’ll be before may even be released, they will stay in unobtainable. As for going through different Pokémon across generations, that might get a little ridiculous because having to rank every Pokémon essentially 8 times seems tough 😅 however, I plan to go through every way to shiny hunt a Pokémon in my upcoming shiny hunting methods tier list video! So I will try to include nearly every way to get a shiny Pokémon and my thoughts on the methods!
@@ThedomiNATION Thanks for the quick reply lol! All good with AZ's Floette, one of those weird Pokemon sort of like spiky-eared Pichu. Has a shiny form, but can't be hunted without removing the shiny lock, I think it's the same with Ash Greninja. This time, just unobtainable in any form. I think of it more like a "anime/movie exclusive" Pokemon than anything. Would've been cool to mention since I don't think a lot of players know about them even having shiny forms to begin with lol. The Star Sweet and Ribbon Sweet were first distributed through a Max Raid Battle event for Milcery last year thereabouts, as well as through a Japanese gift Milcery celebrating Pokemon Center's birthday (not sure if a particular one or in general but it was a serial code in late 2020). So, they weren't available pre-DLC for SWSH. However, I didn't know it could be obtained randomly through the Cram-O-Matic. For some reason it's mentioned on Bulbapedia but not on Serebii for the individual item pages at least (which I primarily use for game data). Thanks for mentioning it so I don't die inside trying to eventually collect all the forms lol. Still, should be ranked higher than it is due to needing DLC and being based on chance. The five other sweets are far easier to obtain in comparison, with Strawberry Sweet being the only guaranteed item (found in Hammerlocke I believe). At the least, an honorable mention, but I understand it more comes down to preference. I understand how people would ask about the other gender differences, but I only mentioned those particular gender differences because of how different the shinies look between Frillish/Jellicent and Unfezant males and females, as well as the mane giving a drastically different silhouette for Pyroar males and females. Not much extra to add imo, and again, the gen 1-4 gender differences are really miniscule in comparison to gen 5 beyond. So, agree to disagree, but know it doesn't necessarily take away from your video here (more a bonus if anything). Yeah, I getcha, it would be quite the task. And again, I mention gen 2 and 3 specifically because they would be the most informative to go through compared to the others. So, you can keep this in the back of your mind in case you ever wanted to do it lol. But yes, you can easily go through the majority of hard encounters exclusive to different methods (the infamous honey tree Munchlax, for example). I look forward to watching it to see if there's any I haven't thought of or forgotten about.
I actually had no idea about the star and ribbon sweets. I just assumed all sweets had equal chance of being obtained. If I were to change it, I would simply put the ribbon and star alcremie in easy as opposed to Breedable!
You and so many people have had the same comment but the Breedable category should be treated as the easiest category. I intended free to only be for shedinja as it’s the one shiny you get simply for having another shiny. Plus gyarados is only a “free” shiny in certain games
As soon as I heard the breeding thing with the Nidoran lines and with the fireflies I was immediately reminded of the two weeks of breeding it took to get a shiny Illumise after getting 3 shiny Volbeats, y’know, the one I didn’t want.
@@ThedomiNATION Yeah. At least now the shiny Illumise has Alph, Louis and Sans to keep them company… I ran out of blue Pikmin characters once I got the third.
Considering RNG abuse (which can have you obtain a shiny Pokémon in less than 10 minutes) is very easy to pull off in Gen 3, 4 and 5 all Pokémon on your list from Gen 5 or bellow (if you count the stationary events) are easy to obtain except for Jirachi, since RNG abusing him is probably the hardest RNG abuse in existence. Did it myself, was not fun. Also for those wondering RNG abuse is simple and requires no cheating. 100% legit but you still need to know your SID which can be done by RNG abusing it or having a shiny Pokémon caught in that save file.
Abuse if you want but I didn’t think I needed to explain that this list does not include that because similar to straight up hacking, it takes the whole point of shinies out of the game
@@ThedomiNATION How is that hacking? You aren't modifying the game in any way shape or form nor does it requiring the use of 3rd part devices on the game/system. You're simply predicting when it appears. It's no different than reading spawn statistics from a wiki page.
@@Mudkip971 I didn’t say it was hacking. I’m saying it’s similar to hacking in the sense that you’re manipulating the game to take the rarity of shinies away. The entire point of shinies is that they are rare. Take that away and they are simply regular old forms that no one cares about. Believe it or not most people would prefer to hunt for shinies without giving themselves extremely easy odds it’s more fun that way for a majority of people
@@ThedomiNATION Well I mean to be fair, considering it's legitimate and methods do exit, shinnies aren't really that rare to begin with. From my point of view the more valuable Shinnies come from those acquire in Gen 6 and upwards since those can't be RNG abused without the use of cheating devices or software on the system. But hey that's just how I view it *shrug*
@@Mudkip971 after being on RUclips for years you gotta accept that legitimacy is solely opinion based. Some people are way more harsh than others on what is viewed as legit. Some people think that simple soft resetting for shinies is illegitimate. I would argue that because rng abuse is completely changing the way the Pokémon were intended to be encountered that it is illegitimate but I won’t hate you for doing it. But in the end, this is my tier list so I’m going to go off of my personal preferences 😅
Own Tempo, which allows Rockruff to evolve into Dusk Lycanroc, is actually not Rockruff's hidden ability. Ability capsules and patches can neither give it to or take it away from a Rockruff, and a Rockruff with it can't evolve into Midday or Midnight Lycanroc. It's passed down 100% of the time through breeding with a Ditto (if breeding two Rockruff, it's 80% if the mother has it, 0% if only the father has it, not sure about if both have it), but it can take a bit of setup work to get one in the first place. It's only available in USUM from an event and in SwSh from a single raid den in Isle of Armor (where it's a 5% chance with a red beam, 15% chance with a purple beam). Also in SwSh Midday and Midnight Lycanroc only depend on the time of evolution, with no version exclusivity.
Keldeo and Meloetta had game stop events I literally remember going there as a kid to get the event and I still have them on my save files to this day.
Celebi will probably be in the really hard category since the 3ds shop is closed, now you need a copy that has crystal and bank to even use it. Plus the odds in that game is way harder then just resetting for any other legendary.
I did make this video long before that announcement was event made but you do have a point. That being said they’ve made shiny celebi available multiple times from GO, so who knows if it’s take considered too much harder. Also the odds are pretty much the same as they are for every other legendary. If you’re comparing the 1/8192 odds with the 1/4096 odds though, I’ve done plenty of hunts with both those odds and they don’t really feel any different. The only time the difference is noticeable is if you go way over odds for the shiny
The void glitch is the one you're talking about for the soft reset hunts for Darkri/Shaymin/Arceus. Quick edit: I have a manaphy hunt on hold at the moment. Edit again: Gyrados is a story shiny in gsc and hgss. There's also a gift gible/dratini shinies in gen 5, as well as a shiny haxorus that you can catch in a special area.
So I actually have a shiny manaphy me and a few friends spent close to a year trying for it and we did end up getting it which is probably one of my most proud moments
@@ThedomiNATION best of luck it took a lot of time to be fair between all of us we had 5 eggs so that helped if you can get more then one egg do it it will save you some time
@@dragontamer-ot5jr yeah I actually started the hunt a few years ago and got 8 eggs to work with. I did about 160 hatches before putting it on hold but I plan to get 4 more eggs before returning to it!
Nope as that is simply a game exclusive distribution. Breedable is essentially the “easiest” tier but I wanted to make shedinja have its own tier as it’s the only Pokémon where you get two shinies after only hunting one!
Yep which is why i paired it with legendaries in this list. On the surface legendaries seem very hard to obtain shiny but they really aren't at all and vespiquen has become a similar rarity to them in sword and shield!
This might be potential spoilers for Pokémon Legends Arceus. Manaphy is in the game and assuming there is no shiny lock on it (currently we don’t know about what is shiny locked in that game) we will finally have an easier way to hunt for it without using Pokémon Ranger.
@@ThedomiNATION I got more news, based on preliminary information about shiny locks. It appears that Manaphy is NOT shiny locked in Pokémon Legends Arceus so we may finally have an easier way to hunt it. Update: Actually it appears to be locked. rip the dream
In Pokemon GO Deoxys is in raids right now! Currently, as the time I'm writing this, Normal form Deoxys is available as Shiny. It will be available for about a week, and then its' other forms will be available for the first time as Shiny in GO and they'll all be for about a week as well. So hop on Pokemon GO yall and get the shiny noodlearm alien!
Really happy that I managed to get Zygarde in swsh AND Shaymin ( from bdsp so I used exploits to go to it's area so it isn't counted as legitimate... Yet).
Nice! I’m really hoping they release the darkrai and shaymin events soon! I’m thinking of rehunting them completely legit as I used action replay to get the event items back in platinum!
I personally think an interesting video would be ranking shiny hunts, excluding breeding. Obviously you can breed most pokemon, but it would be cool to see what the options are if you don't want to do that.
Breedable should be treated as the easiest category. Even though the Pokémon is in Breedable doesn’t mean there aren’t easier methods to obtain it than breeding but I didn’t want the list to have 30 different tiers lol. Also it’s only 100% in a few games not every game!
The real definition of unobtainable should be that glitches are allowed to get it, but the only glitches are ones that start encounters. If it can be encountered by glitches and found as shiny then it is obtainable.
For the most part that is true on this tier list. Which is why I have arceus as obtainable. Other shinies I put on this list as unobtainable are event only shinies that have never been released as shiny and also have never been released in a huntable manner.
My first full odds shiny (and my 3rd shiny overall) came really late. My first pokemon game was diamond and my first full odd was a Chansey in let’s go eevee. So really late but pretty rare 😁
I made an update video when scarlet and violet came out! ruclips.net/video/e7TRTrrRc9c/видео.html I will probably not update it for only a handful of new Pokémon that get released with the dlc
Some of the ones from the hard category can be obtained relatively easy from pokemon go (pokemon home transfer), such as darkrai and deoxys. It's a pity that they lose some of their value because of that.
Even though they have high shiny odds in go, you have to take into account that niantic sometimes waits over years to rerelease them in raids and most of the time they aren’t for long enough to get a good amount of checks being free meaning you have to pay for a solid shot at them. Similar to say having to buy the dlc for SWSH in order to hunt for zygarde only zygarde you can hunt for any time
@@ThedomiNATION agree with you! It was no critique on your video. I managed to get them this way, because I missed the events in the past on the different consoles (or they were regio specific). I enjoyed your extensive tier list 👍 I hope that Gamefreak gives us more events to soft reset for them
@@ace_gaming6565 yeah it’ll probably be a while for genesect to come back as they still haven’t released the chill drive. So odds are they’ll do the first and have it shiny locked like the rest. I’m glad deoxys is coming back soon but I think it took them about a year and a half since last shiny release of deoxys :/
So knowing that much, I think all I would do is move the midday and midnight form down to Breedable as outside of gen 7, they are only day and night evolutions and not game exclusives and I would keep dusk in easy as it’s similar to most of everything I have in easy. Can be bred fairly easily but there’s the hurtle of getting the rockruff with the correct nature first
Great video man, subbed! You missed mentioning the Odd Egg has a 12% chance to be shiny in GSC :) I’m not a shiny hunter but I always reset for this shiny every playthrough.
This video was discussing the rarities of shiny species in general not specific methods to obtain them. I will be discussing methods of obtaining shinies in a later video though!
There indeed was a popular glitch to get to Shaymin in BDSP, and because I still haven't updated my game, I can still do the glitch if I so choose. And as you rightly said, there would be an event for it, and there was, but I missed it because I was already in the middle of shiny hunting it, and that hunt ran well past the event distribution. Then I started the same hunt in Platinum but that's still ongoing.
11:30 also ditto is easy to SOS chain. Just have it transform into a mon that only knows recycle, and trick/switcheroo a leppa berry onto it, and you can just kill the new dittos until Mr. Shiny comes.
Well, yes, you actually have a glitch to shiny hunt for the shiny hunts of event mons like Darkrai and Shaymin (If I remember correctly it works for Arceus as well), called Tweaking, but it's extremely tedious and easy to mess up!
@@Akumo69 well, it was something that abused the old systems slow load times, so I think it's something that was gonna be patched just by being a newer gen game
You're not actually able to use an Ability Capsule on Rockruff to get Own Tempo. You have to either find a wild Rockruff with the right ability (in Raid Dens), or you have to breed the special event Rockruff that was distributed a few years ago for USUM. Nowadays you can find some Own Tempo Rockruffs in the wild in ScarVi, but they're rarer than their counterparts.
Updates as of the Scarlet & Violet DLC 1 release (I may miss something) - Gyarados: Should go in "Free" due to the Lake of Rage Gyarados in GSC/HGSS - Ponyta/Rapidash (Kantonian): Now goes in "Free" thanks to Legends: Arceus. - Jirachi: Still stupid difficult, but there's also a now passed ticketed Pokemon GO event to get a shiny Jirachi. - Gible (and evolutions)/Dratini (and evolutions): "Free" due to being a gift in Black 2 and White 2. - Arceus: Now in "Medium" tier with the rest of the soft-reset Pokemon thanks to Legends: Arceus + BDSP. Arguably could be considered "Hard" due to needing to complete Legends first. - Phione: Arguably a "breedable" tier Pokemon now, thanks to Manaphy and Phione being obtainable in Legends: Arceus. - Fancy-Pattern Vivillon: Now SUPER easy and "breedable" in Scarlet and Violet. - All STANDARD Vivillon Patterns: Now easy/breedable in Scarlet and Violet through postcards in Pokemon GO. - All Furfrou Trims: Arguably either "Hard" or "Hardest of them All" depending on how you look at it. Furfrou's Trims ARE obtainable in HOME, through Pokemon GO... That means you need to play Pokemon GO, get 1 shiny Furfrou per trim, have 25 candies per trim, and then go to different countries in the real world to get said trims, or wait for 1 week in February for the Heart Trim. So technically, they are obtainable, but NOBODY should ever attempt to get them all. Hopefully they put Furfrou on the Switch soon, and they make trims a semi-permanent transformation unless explicitly removed by the player, like a Deoxys or Oricorio form change. - Eternatus: Now "Obtainable But Can't Be Hunted" due to an Event. Authentic Sinestea and Polteageist: Now "Easy" thanks to a change made in how Outbreaks work with the newest Scarlet and Violet update. New Additions: - All Hisuian Forms (I think): "Breedable," if not, "Easy" - Enamorus: "Unobtainable" - Most things in Scarlet/Violet: "Breedable" - Paradox Pokemon: "Easy" to "Medium" depending on the Pokemon - The new Legendaries: "Unobtainable" EDIT: TECHNICALLY, any Pokemon from Gen 1-2, plus any future evolutions to those Pokemon are SUPER easy to get using the Coin Case glitch. That's really up to personal preference, like using glitches to be able to encounter Mew. (This list includes but is not limited to: Dudunsparce, Ursaluna, Sylveon, Wyrdeer, Farigiraf, and many more)
Arceus is at least hard for a variety of reasons. First, you need 2 full priced games. Second, you need to 100% legends arceus and finish BDSP. Third, resets take a full minute being by far the longest for a legendary soft reset. And last the shiny charm in BDSP doesnt affect static encounters making it a full odds hunt. All these extra steps combined together make for a nightmare of a hunt that takes u around 100h just to reach odds. Honestly, I would even argue it staying in "HARDEST OF THEM ALL" category since manaphy and jirachi both require another game to make them accessible, so it passes that check and while u get an infinite amount of checks unlike the others, the checks are so slow that it actually makes up for it. At the very minimum i would make a new tier over hard for it, its not ur typical soft reset pokemon.
@@lusanao8489 That's pretty fair. Having to beat two games for 1 Pokemon is already rough, but at least you could just borrow a copy of Legends, speed through it to get the save data needed, and that saves you $60. Not really any way around needing to beat own and beat BDSP though. Technically you could borrow a copy, but with how long the hunt will take, you might as well just buy a copy. I'd say not the hardest out there, since beating the games can be fairly easy (especially with HOME integration), but needing to beat 2 whole games is a bit much. I'd say "Hard" is a valid tier for it.
All of sudden I’m getting so many comments on this on why it’s outdated but I made an update video for this list right after scarlet and violet came out…
@@ARDIZsq Yeah, even tho we cant take into consideration the specific scenario where u can borrow the game, most people would have to buy it. Including all the other things i mentioned its definitely the hardest of all currently accessible legenedaries (3ds-switch era).
I dont count pokemon bank as a reliable source for legal pokemon because it made the legendary beast shinies and event celebi shiny not legal even though they were event pokemon. I've also heard legitimate shiny shaymins cant be sent through bank so they kinda just pick and chose which pokemon they weren't ok with transferring
I haven’t heard any of that unless it’s from an early version of Pokémon bank. Bank doesn’t allow shaymin if they were obtained in diamond and Pearl but it allows platinum shaymin to be transferred
@@ThedomiNATION idk if its like super widely known but yeah. I know the legendary dogs one because I got the legitimate event and was super confused when they wouldn't transfer. 😔
The reason I didn’t is that those are temporary forms and I would’ve had to include every mega and gigantimax Pokémon in this list when they are obtained through the same means as getting their regular forms. However I will say it’s completely ridiculous that you cannot use max soup on meltan or melmetal
I do not believe that is available currently but I think it has been brought back at least once for those who missed it the first time. Very similar case to meltan and deoxys but celebi has a permanent simple method of shiny hunting it in Crystal making it easier by default in my opinion
Yeah it’s usually shiny locked. You have to keep up with Pokémon go news to know when it will be available again. But it is not likely for it to be available…
To add a minor adjustment to your gen 2 list. The babies you can acquire from the crystal daycare centre. The egg given to you as you get it is a 14% (someone check my math) shiny. Individually, the Pokémon fall into 1-3% chance of being shiny, which is the highest rate that exists I believe, but definitely the highest rate overall for a shiny.
Hey before you comment saying this video is outdated, I made an update on it when scarlet and violet came out! You can watch that video here: ruclips.net/video/e7TRTrrRc9c/видео.htmlsi=1oBiLkuKNuvv0LdC
Also these videos will always become outdated at some point.
@@ThedomiNATION doesn't that mean that every evolution is technically free too?
@@gabrielalves303 no because every evolution doesn’t give you a second shiny to go along with it. But for the most part every evolution is in the same category as the base stages with a few exceptions. Everything about my reasoning is explained in the video

As of now, Arceus is huntable in BDSP at the Spear Pillar! 😁

Thank you! Not a lot of people are willing to take time out of their day to get the accurate time stamps. I appreciate it!
As a curious fact, during the tour where they gave you the mission of Mew shiny, steps back they give you Ditto shiny.
And another fact, during that same event there was an error and if you were in Sydney you could receive the mission, bonuses and others without having bought the ticket (that happened to me haha). They gave extra things to the people who bought the ticket as compensation by the way
That IS curious fact.
Thankfully the first zygrade raid I went into and beat turned out to be shiny

idk why it took so long for youtube to recommend me this channel, but now that i found it, im gonna enjoy it a lot.
in sword and shield rockruff evolves simply by the time of day, like espeon and umbreon.
I did get one with perfect stats though, so that was a nice consolation prize. hopefully now that all the forms are out, they'll release the shiny again, and maybe even the ability to change forms like you can with furfrou and hoopa
Also, wanted to comment that shiny mew was made available as a masterwork research reward for GO Tour Kanto in 2021.
Weird thing about shiny ditto, basically in generation one if you have a pokemon you know to be shiny when transferred up to generation 2 and you teach it mimic and mimic transform the ditto will be able to transform a second time and because of a weird glitch, it will always be shiny.

I'm sure it's by preference but SOS and DexNav are my favorite.
SOS chaining has a lot of initial setup but it's so fast
@@absollnk I would like SOS more if call rates were the same across all pokemon, but some of them are a massive pain in the ass to chain this way because it takes so long to call in a replacement.

A thing about the Lycanroc forms I got to mention is that in SwSh, they're just based on time (8 AM - 8 PM Midday, 8 PM - 8 AM Midnight)
Now Dusk on the other hand needs a special event ability...
I remember wandering through galar and finding a shiny ice cream cone, It was cool because it was freezing outside
The thumbnail is insane
Super underrated man love the vid, just subbed. The body is 14 miles north of the philadelphia art mueseum
Shouldn't Gyarados be in "free" since there's literally an in-game event that gives you a shiny gyarados
Never fails. At least you ended up getting the one you want in the end!
@@ThedomiNATION Yeah. At least now the shiny Illumise has Alph, Louis and Sans to keep them company…
I ran out of blue Pikmin characters once I got the third.
Cool video my dude! Also congrats for the 6k subs 🧡
Thank you!
Keldeo and Meloetta had game stop events I literally remember going there as a kid to get the event and I still have them on my save files to this day.

I wish keldeo could’ve been hunted in the crown tundra but my hopes are for victini and meloetta because they’re so cool!

I would like to add that Haxorus can be free in Black and White 2 if you complete the Unova dex and go to the nature reserve.
Specific methods for obtaining shiny Pokémon are touched upon in my shiny hunting methods tier list video I posted the other day!
So I actually have a shiny manaphy me and a few friends spent close to a year trying for it and we did end up getting it which is probably one of my most proud moments
That’s awesome! I’ve only seen a few people on RUclips get it legit! I’m gonna try for it at some point as well!
That was me! Thanks for using my idea!
I thought garados would be Free, as of the red garados event on ss/hg
Nope as that is simply a game exclusive distribution. Breedable is essentially the “easiest” tier but I wanted to make shedinja have its own tier as it’s the only Pokémon where you get two shinies after only hunting one!
Another thing about Vespiquen is that it's in Dynamax Adventures as well. Since Gen 8 it's difficulty to obtain has dropped significantly.
We can only hope!
@@ThedomiNATION I got more news, based on preliminary information about shiny locks. It appears that Manaphy is NOT shiny locked in Pokémon Legends Arceus so we may finally have an easier way to hunt it.
Update: Actually it appears to be locked. rip the dream
@@bluemoon4546 dang, I had my hopes up. :(
In Pokemon GO Deoxys is in raids right now!
Unfortunately each form will only be available for about 3 days each and not a week. However you can get up to two free raid passes each day!
Funny enough, the first ever wild sinistea I caught was the real version
Nice! I think it took me like 6 Sinistea encounters to get an authentic one for my Pokémon home so I got pretty lucky as well!
Domination: Almost every pokemon in gen 1 is breedable
Rule 34 artists: You dare challenge me foolish mortal?
Really happy that I managed to get Zygarde in swsh AND Shaymin ( from bdsp so I used exploits to go to it's area so it isn't counted as legitimate... Yet).
Nice! I’m really hoping they release the darkrai and shaymin events soon! I’m thinking of rehunting them completely legit as I used action replay to get the event items back in platinum!
I personally think an interesting video would be ranking shiny hunts, excluding breeding. Obviously you can breed most pokemon, but it would be cool to see what the options are if you don't want to do that.
I got my Zygarde when they released a special code for sun and moon and i already had a 50% non shiny one so 100% Shiny Zygarde just like that
Duuude, that's sick!
Casually throws Galarian Yamask into Gen 5...no big deal. 😊 I'm kidding, great video dude I really appreciate it!!
Hey I did it with all the regionals lol
Shouldn't the red Gyarados be in its own category? It's a 100% odds find
Breedable should be treated as the easiest category. Even though the Pokémon is in Breedable doesn’t mean there aren’t easier methods to obtain it than breeding but I didn’t want the list to have 30 different tiers lol. Also it’s only 100% in a few games not every game!
@@ThedomiNATION very good point! I agree! Did not think about the breedable option but just the encounter in Gen2/Gen4 remake.
I love watching this during the S/V era and how they made so many of these shinnies easier to get
Crazy times we live in 😂
13:43 you're making me want a shiny mew now though I always wanted one, I now want one more
My first full odds shiny (and my 3rd shiny overall) came really late. My first pokemon game was diamond and my first full odd was a Chansey in let’s go eevee. So really late but pretty rare 😁
That is rare for a full odds shiny! My first was a bidoof in my original pearl copy but I don’t have that anymore 😢
I've been playing pokemon games since alpha sapphire and my first full odds shiny was a woobat in pokemon black last september
Are you planning on updating this soon or after the S/V dlc?
I made an update video when scarlet and violet came out! ruclips.net/video/e7TRTrrRc9c/видео.html
I will probably not update it for only a handful of new Pokémon that get released with the dlc
@ThedomiNATION oh no way? I'll give that a watch then! And will look forward to seeing your future DLC videos too
Some of the ones from the hard category can be obtained relatively easy from pokemon go (pokemon home transfer), such as darkrai and deoxys.
I enjoyed your extensive tier list 👍 I hope that Gamefreak gives us more events to soft reset for them
And indeed, although darkrai re-releases around Halloween, I'm still waiting for genesect. I did not managed to get it with 40+ raids
@@ThedomiNATION yes I am also afraid that it will take some time for genesect
What is the song at 30:20?
It’s colosseum round 3 from Pokémon colosseum!
@@ThedomiNATION Thank you so much! Really well done vid!
My sister caught a shiny chansey by chance, can y’all blow this comment up for her! It would mean a lot for her!
Can't stop laughing at lines like "Every generation one pokemon is Breedable." I know it's immature but holy hell lol
Lycanrocc is not a version exclusive. It's about what time of day you evolve the rockruff at
It is version exclusive in SM and USUM. I did however make the mistake in thinking that was true for SWSH but yeah it’s only day/night in those games
The thing with dusk form Lycanroc is you need a special ability, not a hidden ability. Only from a raid den rockruff on isle of armor.
So knowing that much, I think all I would do is move the midday and midnight form down to Breedable as outside of gen 7, they are only day and night evolutions and not game exclusives and I would keep dusk in easy as it’s similar to most of everything I have in easy. Can be bred fairly easily but there’s the hurtle of getting the rockruff with the correct nature first
@@ThedomiNATION the special ability is guaranteed for breeding down so just getting that ability first is the only difficult part.
"Nearly every Pokémon in gen 1 is breedable,"
10/10
Great video man, subbed! You missed mentioning the Odd Egg has a 12% chance to be shiny in GSC :)
I’m not a shiny hunter but I always reset for this shiny every playthrough.
This video was discussing the rarities of shiny species in general not specific methods to obtain them. I will be discussing methods of obtaining shinies in a later video though!
@@ThedomiNATION Gotcha!
That video flashbanged me ngl
so um… im new to this channel. brilliant video, very entertaining but… the llamas, do i even ask why theyre there?
Wait… where?
Can’t you just soft reset for shiny deoxes in oras when you get him
In those games?
Deoxys is shiny locked in ORAS
Well, yes, you actually have a glitch to shiny hunt for the shiny hunts of event mons like Darkrai and Shaymin (If I remember correctly it works for Arceus as well), called Tweaking, but it's extremely tedious and easy to mess up!
That's only for dpp. I believe you could tweak in bdsp and it was even a popular speedrunning strategy but it was patched
Updates as of the Scarlet & Violet DLC 1 release (I may miss something)
- Gyarados: Should go in "Free" due to the Lake of Rage Gyarados in GSC/HGSS
- Ponyta/Rapidash (Kantonian): Now goes in "Free" thanks to Legends: Arceus.
New Additions:
- All Hisuian Forms (I think): "Breedable," if not, "Easy"
- Enamorus: "Unobtainable"
- Most things in Scarlet/Violet: "Breedable"
- Paradox Pokemon: "Easy" to "Medium" depending on the Pokemon
- The new Legendaries: "Unobtainable"
EDIT: TECHNICALLY, any Pokemon from Gen 1-2, plus any future evolutions to those Pokemon are SUPER easy to get using the Coin Case glitch.
All of sudden I’m getting so many comments on this on why it’s outdated but I made an update video for this list right after scarlet and violet came out…
@@ThedomiNATION All good. Wasn't aware of the other video and wanted to leave this for anyone else who also didn't know about it.
Lol shiny deoxys just returned today in PoGo
I do think you should have added one Gigantimax. You can't get Gigantimax Melmetal yet.
The reason I didn’t is that those are temporary forms and I would’ve had to include every mega and gigantimax Pokémon in this list when they are obtained through the same means as getting their regular forms. However I will say it’s completely ridiculous that you cannot use max soup on meltan or melmetal
Wait really? You can't transfer a shiny meltan from pokemon go to sw/sh and use max mushrooms on it?
@@mercury2c you can transfer a shiny meltan from go into sword and shield but the max soup doesn’t work on it
I don't know if this is still obtainable or not but you have a quest in Pokémon go that always gives you a shiny celebi.
I do not believe that is available currently but I think it has been brought back at least once for those who missed it the first time. Very similar case to meltan and deoxys but celebi has a permanent simple method of shiny hunting it in Crystal making it easier by default in my opinion
I have hunted hundreds of meltan, and I now realise that the shiny is event only
Yeah it’s usually shiny locked. You have to keep up with Pokémon go news to know when it will be available again. But it is not likely for it to be available…
in the case of ditto, you can also use SOS method
Yep but that would still be a wild encounter. It’s still in easy category that doesn’t mean it’s hard to get lol
11:30 Theres also SOS calls in Sun and Moon, thats how I got ditto
Also for Shiny Celebi, there was one you could get from Pokemon GO, idk if the event still exists but I got mine from that event.
Yep! But you only get one per save file and on top of that the Breedable tier is intended to be the easiest tier! Which the babies are already in!
Since we're talking shinies, I managed to nab myself a shiny alpha Electivire yesterday, I was pretty happy
Congrats!
