I dont comment much, but not gonna lie i absolutely wish this type of Nuzlocke takes off more. I love Silph and FlygonHG runs as much as the next guy, but the formula has gotten a smidge stale over the years and series like this and Emerald which allow for a slow yet thorough and comfy look at the game are a wonderful breath of fresh air! Being able to look at all encounters aside from type specific ones and closely looking at all tools the game gives you like hidden items and "sidequests" just feels like a great way to appreciate these games while still having the stakes of a locke.
I don’t watch nuzlockes. This is the first channel I’ve ever watched nuzlockes on. I am so surprised to hear this isn’t the norm. Because I love this way of doing it. One thing I always disliked about nuzlockes were the ways they seem to cancel out the joy and heart of the games but this channel changed my mind on that.
I love Nuzlocke's and I have scoured RUclips for any decent Pokémon content, and the way you structure and edit your videos is far and above the best. I sit at a desk all day and watching your videos has been so relaxing for me throughout my work days. Hope you keep them coming and really look forward to your future Nuzlocke's both the super challenging and the very relaxed.
thank you grumpy gengar for making such a slow paced series i dont really watch pokemon content outside of the occasional weedletwineedle vid but id say your passion for these games have really come through much love
This video is one of the best nuzlocke videos I’ve ever come across. The commentary was very in the moment and insightful, and also just the way it was formatted was just great. Unfortunate you don’t have more subscribers, as you definitely deserve it. Ill be sure to tune into your emerald videos once I finish my platinum nuzlocke. Ive only watched one video of yours (this one) and i cant wait to watch more. Keep up the good work bro
Also keep in mind i don’t mean to insult you about the subs, I’m just saying with this originality and work your put into your videos, you should be up in the “big leagues” of the pokemon youtubers
I mean this in the best way possible. but youre like a Jr Chuggaaconroy. I love Emiles content but lately his content hasnt fit the algorithm. the way youre so detailed and your clear passion for the content and series you have. with the detailed resaerched and on screen examples. with encounter rates, hidden items. Great job! very well made.
Another thing I noticed is if you skip Wayward cave until you get Bronzor at Mt Coronet and already have gotten Zubat, Geodude, and Onix earlier in the run, you can guarantee the Gible encounter in Wayward Cave.
I’ve HC nuzlocked platinum a handful of times, and I’m gonna have the AI presidents do it after I’m done with emerald, but I’m certain there’s plenty of tidbits in this video that I didn’t know about. And it’s gonna be super useful for my future run. Gonna enjoy watching this in the background while I work on stuff for the next few hours. Preciate you grumpy
First I'll say that this was easily one of the best resources I found for running platinum and for that I thank you greatly. Quick tip for eternal forest and iron island, you can actually make every battle a 1v1 if you walk up to 1 trainer and talk to them. It makes those portions so less scary bc it totally removes the risk of ending in a 2v1
I really hope your channel blows up and you reach a broader audience. The attention to detail and calming vibe in your videos is immaculate. Truly glad I found this channel.
13:40 speaking of Oreburgh gate, I know i‘m late BUT… The lower floor of Oreburgh gate has 5% Chance of encountering a level 10 Golbat which is normally supposed to evolve from Zubat at Level 22 (Gardenia‘s Level cap), which MEANS if you get lucky and encounter that Golbat and catch it, you can run around in circles for 2 hours to maximize it‘s friendship AND THEORATICLY(spelled wrong probably) GET A CROBAT BEFORE HEADING TO FLOAROMA TOWN! I have NEVER seen anyone do this (I didn‘t do this either), but IT IS POSSIBLE.
1:12:40 I believe that odd number health that can't be rounded to a perfect percent correctly will cause berries and such to pop at one health lower than they should. So if Lucario had an non-roundable health amount, even at 25% (roughly) it won't pop until it's one lower. I'm pretty sure it worked like that until gen 6.
8:30 you should’ve gotten bidoof and starly on route 201 and lake verity respectively so you can guarantee the shinx encounter depending on the time of day on route 202
Honestly the only pokemon RUclipsr I watch I started watching cause I found my old emerald game and started playing again then found your vids and definitely made me want to try out a nuzlocke thanks for great vid man
"Doing HW on pokemon is really fun for me for some reason", brother im right there with you, i fkin love just researching random stuff about pokemon :), cheers
Make change the title from walkthrough? That might be bottlenecking views a bit. This is super high quality video, and should at least have triple the view count. Maybe name it “retrospective”?
I've tried updating it to "guide" instead for now, but I do agree that maybe it needs to be something else. "Retrospective" would definitely get more views, I'm just not sure it's an accurate depiction of the content itself. Really great suggestion though, I need to think about it more
Not true there are many many areas in the game that are like “gardens” that generally have 3-4 bushes with 2 berries each on them of different kinds and if you want a specific Berry you can plant one you have in these areas and wait a bit and a bush with 2 of the same kind of berry will grow in that place!
Well, already with the prediction at 9:27 or so… Don’t sleep on Bidoof rollout simple Strats, they’re UNDENIABLY fantastic my friend. But it also is a wager between.. Would you chance taking a Dark Type before the 3rd gym? You only have 2 available Dark Types in plat for Fantina. Houndour and Umbreon. Absol is too far into the game. Drapion is after Maylene. Sneasel is like Absol… But Bidoof has advantages over Bibarel if you know what movesets are available.
Holy shit this is so close to my team lol, doing my first run now with infernape, staraptor, gyarados, gardevoir, weaving (ice type just like ur nano) and I have a roserade as my last mon
@@grumpygengar22 while writing it I was never think about your answer lol , dude these kind of nice behaviour make you a great channel. So.. you win one more subscriber

FlygonHG is unwatchable imo. The commentary is unlistenable

Sorry not worded well, english not my best
Don't worry about it, I appreciate the kind words ☺️
You're about to blow up... content is too good
Quick! Someone bring a Pokemon with Damp! We don't want GrumpyGengar to explode and die!
He’s a ghost type so he’ll be okay.
Yes, one day he will probably

I remember finding this last year!! It’s great advice
Loved watching these over the course of the last few months, can't wait to see your further analysis on Gen IV!

The best platinum nuzlocke video i have ever seen
Nobody cam make it this good man, you are the G.O.A.T
That final battle had me so emotional 😭. Great video and farewell to our fallen soldiers 🫡
this is such a wonderful video to watch with whilst i do my first platinum nuzlocke! great tips and very nice to listen to in the bg
the road from gen four casual to platinum master, the movie 🍿 🎥
I've watched every episode of it and I can confirm it was popcorn-worthy.
@1:08:03 just a quick note that you can actually talk to them from the side to make them each a single battle which makes them markedly easier
Erm actually, it's remarkably🤓.
5:00 level 24 for Bubblebeam is in DP. Platinum moved it at level 19

Looker gets better in his later appearances in later games. They gave him a pretty interesting story.

fun

1:57:03 you actually do go back to that town for the darkrie event.
Man if you started steaming on twitch while you run, you could really take off. Love the content bro!

Thanks for the tip about Floatzel demolishing Fantina's gym. Used it in my own HN run and used Crunch 4 times and her team was no match!
Finally a fellow Empoleon enjoyer
cant wait for black n white! (or the things before that)

Damn, I'm scared of starly's eyes. It's staring at my soul.
In the town where is your house has no encounter, so there you can get a magikarp without losing a great encounter in route 218
You deserve more followers. Maybe throw in a couple top ten videos every once in awhile
Quick comment, if you’re using bronzor or bronzong you can take on the collector with a heracross no problem. Hard counter for him.
Did my own nuzlocke while watching and beat Cynthia with just my Infernape remaining 🙏💯
The only way of getting the berries is off wild Pokémon or talking to one of the berry people who give you a daily berry

yay a quick guide😊
almost four hours later:💀
I think we need a gen 5 guide Mr Gengar??
Buizel pursuit killed my zubat with pluck just before watching this video🤦♂️😆 I’ll scrape by Mars with geodude and monferno
Loved this walkthrough!! Gen 5 incoming or HGSS??
Not yet, but in time those will come for sure. Got more Platinum related runs and content lined up!
I tried countless times like a year ago but failed. Here to take my revenge on cyrus!
My team is infernape,staraptor,gyarados,gardevoir,rotom,mamoswine
Love it!

Still active? How you doing?
Started working on HGSS, but unfortunately progress is super slow at the moment.
Amazing
Thank you!
What if the moon is made of cheese?
Dude can I ask why did you not name your pokemons in nuzlocke, just for wondering btw i have no any problem with it :D
Never been good at coming up with nicknames haha. But I did use them in my latest run
