    I pick the Crown. Love the unique modern design, better placement of the heated seats/wheel buttons, nicer wheels, the way Toyota has created a ‘pod effect’ for the driver and passenger. The winning factor is the AWD. We’ve ordered a Crown Limited in Heavy Metal.
    Way to go Jeff! You’re a winner as well.

Traded in our 2021 Venza and I just got the very first 2023 Limited Crown from the dealership out of the showroom up here. Let me tell you, people are heads turning like crazy and doing the slow walk in the parking lot. This car is hands down the best car I've ever purchased. The power is great and the styling for a $ jump from the move up from XLE to Limited is worth it, but not for another $16K for turbo to Platinum and bigger wheels for me.

My local dealer called last week..told me has a black Crown Limited w Advanced Tech Package coming in this week..exactly the configuration I would have wanted..maybe not the color..black wouldn’t be my first choice but might end up looking pretty good. I’m 66 years old w tricky knees..thinking 15 or 20 years from now, going to appreciate the ease of getting in and out of my car! Just hope the JBL stereo system doesn’t suck on this Crown..the M L stereo on the Lexus was probably my biggest factor of going with the Lexus.

    I really enjoyed this comparison, as many others you have done before, like the various trims of the Avalon a couple years ago. Can you do a comparison between Avalon XLE/ Crown XLE or Avalon Limited / Crown Platinum? Not just the numbers (we can read those in the brochure), but actual look and feel, and quietness, drivability, and odds-and-ends that one car has and the other doesn't (Moonroof vs panoramic fixed roof, headlight features an quality, driving and parking assist systems, HUD, sound system quality). I think that would be really interesting.

    It is the Cloudburst Gray exterior with Acorn color semi-aniline leather interior.
    Total Installed Packages & Accessories:
    1) Premium Triple-beam LED headlamps;
    2) Smartacess Card Key;
    3) Premium Paint;
    4) Lexus Interface with 12.3-in Multimedia Touchscreen Display;

    6) All weather floor liners and trunk mat;
    7) Door edge film by 3M;

    9) The Dealer added a 5-year windshield protection/replacement coverage package and tinted the driver and passenger windows.
    More:
    The three-projector design that creates an eye-catching L shape. Adding to this brilliant design, the headlamps feature LED side turn signals, as well as an Adaptive Front Lighting System6 that uses steering and speed sensors to direct the angle of low-beam illumination as the vehicle enters a curve. The Adaptive Front Lighting System monitors steering and speed with a suite of sensors and will automatically adjust the angle of your low-beam headlights to improve visibility on curved roads.
    Ultra Luxury extras:
    1) 18-inch split-five-spoke alloy noise-reduction wheels;
    2) Power rear sunshade with manual rear-door sunshades;
    3) Power open/close trunk with kick sensor;
    4) 12.3-inch multimedia touchscreen display 10.2-inch Head-Up Display; and
    5) Intuitive Parking Assist with Auto Braking and Rear Pedestrian Detection, and Panoramic View Monitor.
    Averaging 43+ MPG City/Hwy driving and I had the oil and filter changed at 1,000 miles for my own peace of mind. Just For Reference: I was not going to wait one-year or 10,000 miles to have the factory installed oil & filter changed. And, I shall be changing the Oil (Liqui Moly 0W-16 Spec V) and Toyota filter every 5,000 miles from now on. Like Scotty Kilmer says, oil & filters are cheap, engines are expensive. LOL 😎

    Great review, Jeff! I have to pick the Lexus ES 300h over the Crown. But there's no way I'd choose that red interior and I don't feel comfortable about 19" wheels. The Crown has a lot of pluses but those insane 21" wheels are a deal breaker. There's no way I'd go with 20" or 21" rims, they look awful and sooner or later will be damaged by road hazards. In fact I wonder if the wheels could be downgraded to 19"? I guess I'd have to look at lower trim levels that have 19" rims. Oh, I'm out here in Idaho and have followed you for about five years, Jeff. Thanks and take care.

    Well here is my comments because I just purchased a Platinum Crown. We are an older couple that liked a little more luxury than the gas mileage.
    1. It is Metalic Grey color and I did not like the design of biotone red / Black / Black matt or with gold instead of red. It just looks too busy and color separation looks weird. I like the black matte over semi metalic grey gloss.
    2. Hybrid Max will be in the 2024 GRAND HIGHLANDER in its platinum trim model.
    3. Camry, Avalon, Crown, Lexus 500h, Acura Tlx ... LEXUS???? YES, YES!! The Crown is more compared to me to the 500h but without the leather and additional $15k Price tag. The Crown looks semi cheap with the plastic in different places but adheres to everything else of an 500h. Obviously, this car is bigger than the camry, ioniq 5 and 6. Cant say it is bigger to the Grand Highlander 2024 model which uses the hybrid max too.
    4. I am neither here nor there for gas. I was more directed to the adaptive suspension which the camry or other Crown trims do not have.
    5. I love the TSS 3.O. The safety features are great.
    6. The lights and 21 inch wheels are cool with the sunroof.
    7. I bought my car with tax complete out the lot for $57k. $1500 below sticker.
    Overall, it is everything I can expect from a Lexus 500h and Genesis GV80 but without the price tag. 😊

    Enjoyed your head-to-head review Jeff! I’ve tried both and was pleasantly surprised by the Crown - ride, features, and styling were all appealing. I was at Toyota for a Camry Sport test drive but snapped my neck when I saw a Crown and said “What is THAT?!” The Lexus 300h Sport was also a great ride, smoothest I’ve ever driven - probably a result of its suspension. One drawback to the Lexus is the pass-through door rather than seats that fold down, that was a disappointment and my ONLY negative. The biggest difference is the 300h is a Lexus, the Crown is still a Toyota. Although the Crown is a great addition to the Toyota lineup, it’s a well-appointed Toyota. The ES-300h is a luxury car and it feels like one. It depends what you’re in the market for, and I was after what the Lexus offers.

      Not wobbly, but it is likely to have more "head toss" -- more side-to-side motion conveyed to the occupants over bumps. It's an unavoidable result of a taller vehicle with a higher seating position, whether sedan, SUV or pickup truck. You're simply higher up, so when the vehicle changes its tilt, you move farther.

    I traded a 2020 Avalon Limited hybrid for a 23 ES350 Ultra Luxury. MSRP was$55380. Same money as a platinum Crown, which has no HUD, or power tilt/telescope wheel. I have driven a Crown. The Lexus interior is far superior to the Crown, and is much quieter. Also the Mark Levinson sound system, is heads and tails what’s in the Crown. Also Lexis warranty is longer than Toyota. To me, it was an easy choice. The Lexus.

    For Lexus, the F Sport would not be the one I would use to compare with the Crown. Lexus was not designed for performance. It is for luxury and comfort. If you want performance, buy a BMW, Benz or Audi. Turbos give you more things to break down over time, and a non-Hybrid Lexus (ES 350), while worse for gas mileage, is simpler and thus easier to maintain in the long run.

    You failed to mention that there are differences in the Ultra luxury lexus 300h than that f sport. Also you cant compare the higher horespower crown to the Lexus hybris. Compare the crown limited to the es300h so it would be apples to apples.

    I'll take the Crown made by Lexus. I like the look of the Crown, AWD !, but the interior is bland. I don't much like the interior colors of the Lexus,either but the guts of the 300h (tech) works for me. ( like the HP of the Crown does.
    Guess I want it all.

    I’m actually going to get a better deal on a ‘23 Lexus ES 350 Ultra Luxury with all options than I could get with the Crown since dealers are adding thousands of $$$ to the MSRP of the Crown while Lexus dealers are taking OFF $$$ from the MSRP of the ES models since they have plenty in stock.

    • @Myshcan

      Here in Northern California the trend seems to be to discount the ES 350 below MSRP (~$2.5K) and to adjust the ES 300h hybrid over MSRP (no adjustment to $4K adjustment). I have seen Crown adjustments from $5K to $10K over MSRP. That's just anecdotal evidence, not a reliable survey.

      @@Myshcan yep. In the whole CA seems like hybrids are in high demand. I was not able to locate any Lexus NX hybrid base trim in north CA without markup or 6-9 months wait. Finally locate one in south CA with the exact color and trim, put a deposit in and reserved it, arriving in April. Family and I gonna fly down, take a short vacation and drive back. 😊

      @@jml9550 Nice catch on the NX. In researching, it seems to be an excellent vehicle. I looked at one and they wanted a $7K markup. However, my wife had trouble getting in and out of it, so we went with the ES.

      @@Myshcan Yeah got lucky on that S. Cal NX hybrid. I told the S. Cal salesperson that I will not pay a dime over MSRP nor any add ons, I was surprised that his manager agreed. Previously I already had a deposit with an N. cal dealer but the car is nowhere in site and the salesperson doesn’t even know when the next allocation is. Funny my wife is the opposite, she doesn’t like getting in and out of my 2017 ES350. Maybe she is used to her current 08 RX350, which will be my son’s first car once he gets his license in a few months.

    • @Myshcan

      @@jml9550 Good deal in these times to get one at MSRP. I also put in an order that didn't materialize and wound up buying out of town, but only an hour's drive away. Must be a fairly typical scenario these days. Anyway, as you demonstrated, it pays to shop around. Those cars at MSRP can be found.

    Why is AWD so important to some people. I can understand if you live in the snow belt but in most of America it isn’t needed. In fact if you want to have a more sporty and fun car to drive , RWD is the way to go.
