- In this video I'm showing how I propagate my Rattail /rat tail cactus. I'm amazed with the flowers that made me propagated more! I can only hope that it'll give me Blooms this year!! You never know!!!☺Wish me luck!! 🤞

Wow you have plenty and they look so good hanging on a tree. 😍 I don't give so much attention to my rat tail cactus. I just leave them in their pots and feel lazy propagating them because of the thorns. But seeing how lovely your colony of rat tail cactus are, i'm enticed to propagate more of them.
Thank you!! Before,I don't like cactus at all because of the thorns but Using sand paper to hold it when planting really helps me & made it easy to plant Cactus.I really like the look of it🥰☺ It's pretty expensive too now a days!! It's becoming popular.

I just got myself some rats tail & its so true they can be expensive. How fast do thos newly replanted grow. Mines just 3 strands atm.
Hi Monica, They're actually grow pretty fast!! I water them once a week during fall and Spring.During summer I water when soil is dry..I started only with 1 pot about almost 2 years and now I have 12 big hanging pots and shared some already.And 10 small pots. I bought one this summer but the root system was not developed and when I watered it, it rotted what little bit of roots that it had. I snipped them off, let dry for a week and have them in an airy mix... being we are going into winter season do I water them? I did use a rooting hormone on it as well. Too expensive to lose. Any suggestions for winter propagating would be greatly appreciated! Thanks
Hi,The way I take care of it is not water too often!! Everything you did was right..Now for me,during winter, I only water them once a month or when soil is dry but it really depends where you are!! We don't get snow here so I just leave them out where they are which is outdoor and they're doing Ok!! I don't use rooting hormones or anything like that!! When I propagate, I just put them on top of wet soil and leave it! It takes a while though!! When there's roots,that's when I plant it in the pot!! So,to answer your question.. would just water it once or twice a month during winter!! And also water only when the soil is dry! It is cactus after all,doesn't need too much water!!Hope it helps!! Where and what state are you if you don't mind me asking???
@@mariedauisetc9984 Thank you very much for your advice. I read that this plant loves cool temperatures in the winter. 50 to 60 degrees! I live where we have 4 seasons. Snow and cold in winter and hot 🔥 🥵 in summer. My cuttings look healthy! I gave the top of soil a misting to just water the top portion. Hope it roots!
