    I personally think with the prices of bows getting a little ridiculous they would sell more releasing bows every 1.5 or two years. A bow release in July wouldn’t be terrible with the upcoming hunting season approaching. I’m not exactly sure how much more bows can improve but hey what do I know. But the rx7 to an 8 is a tough sale.

      Yes, there is no real reason to go from RX7 to RX8, but if you are upgrading from several years back, I do feel that the RX8 is the best bow Hoyt has ever made. Good luck.

      You will be shocked by how much better bows are now vs back then. I was telling the cameraman who shot this video about the way bows used to be. How hard they were to tune and shoot well. The poor quality of the bows singlehandedly led to the revolution in mechanical broadheads because that was the only way you could get many of them to shoot accurately at game. You almost had to be an archery shop technician to get a lot of those bows to shoot even decent. The worst bows on the market today are way better than the best ones 20 years ago. The designs haven't changes a lot in the past 10 years, but from 20 years ago to 10 years ago, the difference is massive. Have fun.

      I still shoot a 2008 matthews DXT. Incredible bow. Short, maneuverable, in a tree. Really awesome. When I got that it was a 15 year jump. I’m finally seeing things get to a point again where I’m thinking there is enough difference for a jump again. Point being it seems to me about every 15 years seems about right from a tech standpoint. They improve little by little every year, so about every 15 there enough improvements to make it worthwhile to switch. IMO (Unless you have a professional hunting show) 😂

      @bill-winke  2 месяца назад

      Thanks for the comment Pastor Hart. I am between 6.25 and 6.5 grains per pound of maximum draw force. For my longer draw length (currently 31.5 and shrinking!) that is a good weight for whitetail hunting. If you draw under 30 inches a weight around 6.0 grains per pound is a good compromise between speed and bow noise/penetration. Have a great day. God bless you too.

    Thanks for the review Bill! Well done, exactly what I wanted to hear. Quick question for you: how did your two bows wind up paper tuning? I bought the RX-7 here in NM back in April, and have had to finally send it back to Hoyt last week, because it just wouldn’t tune, or stay in tune. Was driving the boys at the Archery Shoppe crazy. I bet they worked on it for a total of at least seven full days so far, and it still isn’t shooting a perfect bullet hole. Other than that, it’s an amazing bow, love love love everything else about it; draw cycle, sound, looks, features, finish. Just wish Hoyt would catch up on their tuning system, it sure hasn’t been working for my bow, and after sinking $3,000 into the bow with their in line components, you’d think getting a bullet hole would be a three shot process. 😬

    • @WolfinWolvesClothing713
      @WolfinWolvesClothing713 9 месяцев назад

    • @NMBowhntr
      @NMBowhntr 9 месяцев назад

      @@WolfinWolvesClothing713 Thanks for the info. Hopefully it’s just weak limbs, Hoyt will replace, and I’ll be good to go. There is limb deflection on both the top and bottom limbs you can see with the naked eye, and that can’t be good for paper tuning!

    • @bill-winke
      @bill-winke  9 месяцев назад +1

      I have not had a problem tuning these bows. The only real issue is fletching contact the rest so once I get the vanes rotated correctly, it is all good. I do have a tendency to sometimes get my elbow out of line with the arrow and that causes side pressure on the string at full draw which in turn causes sideways arrow tears. But if I am careful to make sure I am pulling straight back, that clears up nicely. Hopefully they can get you a fix right away. Good luck.

If Hoyt won’t replace my bow, and I feel they should AT LEAST be happy to send me an upgraded RX-8 after all the wasted time, pain and suffering these last 12 months, I’ll sadly have to leave them, and I’m a 20+ year Hoyt customer, too. My Archery Shoppe here in Albuquerque is dealing with them, I’ll keep you posted. Hope Hoyt will do what’s right. It’s been a tough year.

      I have shot that way for at least 20 years. That finger never gets in the way. It says right there. Hoyt bows are super well designed and accurate. I have shot them since 1995 and exclusively since about 1997. They didn't start paying me until 2008 so that was a lot of years when other companies were sending me free bows too. Some hokus pokus I think lol I took mine out on the rx7 and never made a difference I noticed or tune different. Limb tip is connected with axle other end the pocket like you said plus resting on the other part of the packet on the underside… and those rubber dampeners are so soft and flexy it couldn’t do much for a connection point.

    • @novotny4
      @novotny4 9 месяцев назад

      It was on hoyts website for the alpha x 30. I think the idea is that since the limbs are stronger they flex less at full draw, so the string angle isn’t as severe. Either way thanks for the response and good video.

    • @bill-winke
      @bill-winke  9 месяцев назад

      Mike, I think the arrow is about 525 grains at roughly 300 fps. I haven't been paying much attention to the high FOC trend. People have been debating FOC since I started shooting a bow back in 1977! I am sure there is something to it, but unless you are penetration limited for some reason (hunting an animal with a tough hide, a huge animal, or shooting a lower poundage bow) I think it is really splitting hairs. Especially for whitetail hunting. Good luck.

    Bill i know your sponsored by Hoyt, but honestly have you shot the Phase 4 or the new Lift? Im a betting man and id bet that you haven't because if you had, I firmly believe you would make the switch. With Hoyt you HAVE to consistently upgrade your bow to stay with Hoyt because they change their cam and limb design about every 3-4 years and they WONT make the old designs making older Hoyts inferior to Mathews because you can still get way older cams and limbs from them so you can keep the same bow for YEARS. Not everyone can afford a new 2500 set up every year ao to me Hoyt is WAY behind the 8 ball and Mathews are actually less expensive than Hoyts and imo are better bows with better customer service. Plain and simple that its a far better value to buy a Mathews. Mathews also has a higher resale value because you can still get older cams, mods, and limbs.

      The new LIFT is horrendous on the draw cycle, holding weight, incredibly jumpy and not a great buy when it comes to the other offerings on the marketplace. I wouldn't rank it in the top 3 personally. You're gonna be over 2k whe buying a new mathews as well, so it's not about money, it's about personal preference and what you like to shoot. I have the V3 and was thinking about upgrading to either the phase 4 or Lift not sure yet leaning towards the phase. But it's definitely not about preference in all cases. In fact in most cases especially people just getting into hunting value and tunability is the biggest factor and Mathews system is optimized for each individual .5 in increments. With Hoyt the longer the better the shorter the more you trade off. Plus as I've already previously stated you can still get stuff for the Q2 that's like 20+ years old you can't get stuff for Hoyt that's like 4 or 5 years old. So man there's way more to it than just preference. ATA length weight how it feels in the hand how it draws and all that but Mathews makes Mission bows which carries it's 4-5 year old technology but at an extremely affordable value. Hoyt bows are among if not the most expensive Bows on the market. Also Hoyts have been known for harsh draw cycles for years while Mathews has been known for some of the smoothest. So just magically like that in one year Mathews went backwards and Hoyt jumped forwards? I highly doubt that man. And lastly my question wasn't for you it was for Bill, and it was a simple question. Has he shot the Mathews Phase 4 or Lift? I bet u if you blindfolded 10 people and had them shoot both the lift vs RX8 at 60lbs (where most people shoot) the Mathews wins majority ea time again and again. The RX line was louder and jumpier than the V line up and that's facts. The RX8 is quieter than the 7 but still jumpy.... Im not paying for the "name and popularity". I've been a Mathews fan and I've had a Hoyt and couldn't stand it.

      @@zachniverson8816 sounds like you work for Mathews the way you’re pushing it so heavily. Goodluck with your season though.

      No difference between that and the lift not being able to use their proprietary crap from previous bows. They're both great bows, just personal preference what a guy likes.
