      I think they should be weighed in a typical hunting setup and then compare how much heavier (percents) they are compared to the lightest. It should perhaps stay as a bonus category, as some people might like more weight, but the context would be great.

    The let off adjustment on the era is a huge plus. 70-90% in 1% increments, and combined with the 1/4 inch draw length adjustments, you can really customize the draw cycle and hold to your liking.

    • @Makka316
      @Makka316 Год назад +1

      Era also has the option to switch between cable stops, limb stops or both. Carbon One has the FlipDisc built in which is great. Era has the option for smooth mods (have them in my Verdict and they are great) but costs extra.

      I owned a Omnia and everything was great about that bow except the sight picture! Cables in sight window bad no matter what we did! I just couldn’t gel with that so went to Bowtech.

  • @PAKraig

    Thanks for taking the time to do this review. I currently own an RX7 I've had for almost 1.5 yrs now, I've had my Era for for about 2 months now, and I owned a Carbon One for about 2 weeks right after release. I'm a Bowtech fan, so I really wanted to like it, but prefer the other 2 instead.
    If you are giving points for draw cycle, don't you NEED a category for fps/energy? That Era w/ Perf mods is probably 12 fps quicker than the Carbon One, and the RX7 another 2-4 fps faster than the Elite. Also, fully setup w/ similar accessories, my Era has somewhat less feedback than the RX7. Despite the tuning disadvantages of the Hoyt, once it's set for you, it's set, and the back/sidebar mounting locations of the Hoyt and Elite are MUCH better than the Bowtech.

    • @ShaneBolerHunting
      @ShaneBolerHunting Год назад +1

      I was always a fan of elite, but you are talking about the era being much faster with performance mods, well yeah it feels like 80 pounds . Elite use to have a really smooth easy draw cycle , well when they went for speed with these new cams, they totally sold out to an extremely stout draw cycle.

    • @PAKraig
      @PAKraig Год назад +1

    Speed and gross weight of the bow should have higher importance than say something subjective like how the grip feels, especially when grips are changeable. It’s nice to have a light chassis so that you can add weight to balance and dampen the bow. Starting with a heavy riser limits that. Otherwise good comparison.

    Would be interested to see a short video addressing what you like in a bow and what is important to you. You often throw out little bits and pieces here and there but an overall baseline for what you like may be helpful when other people compare your thoughts on a bow to what they are looking for.

  • @chandlerh
    @chandlerh Год назад +5

    Durability, Speed & Performance and weight should be categories. A big part of the Hoyt for me is that they dry fire their bows in a stress test. Now... how much of that is marketing hype, but still it's a selling point none the less. And performance is the other big thing. I'll trade performance during the shot for some vibration after the shot since these are mainly hunting bows. Personally I care less about vibration since it's after the shot, doesn't affect my arrow flight... unless you're arguing that force could have been in the arrow... then maybe.
    Categories that I feel are subjective:
    Grip and Fit and Finish. I'd personally swap those two for Durability and Speed/Performance.

    • @africanbornadventures
      @africanbornadventures Год назад

      Yes you make excellent points there. There shouldn’t be pure subjective categories. I don’t know how speed isn’t included.

      too many companies post IBO ratings no one gets to begin with and then some are much slower when you shoot a 500grain hunting arrow. Not to mention I've found bow companies have overdrawn bows. My mathew's traverse and hoyt rx4 turbo draw just under 1/2" longer than advertised, while elite bows draw at dead nuts. Backyard bows does an excellent job of reviewing bows and of the bow's ive shot he describes them exactly as I would and he does a 500grain speed test with the same arrow to get a fair comparison of a bows speed with a realist hunting arrow.

    Hey! Love your videos and these comparison videos. The thing I would add/not rate on these videos, is that the fit&finish. A camo on a bow will always look worse as finish than one color on a bow...so if we want to compare apples to apples I would not rate a camo bow(most of them will be dipped, and because of that will have disfiguration) in one category with a one colour sanded bow.

    I Honesty feel fit and finish is the least important and shouldn't be as much of a factor, like for instance the weight of the bow is more important. Just my opinion tho.
    Good video either brother 👍👍

    Field and stream 2023 bow of the year did go to the xpedition x-lite. A review of the x-lite from the 🐐would be dope.

    I own both an rx7 and a carbon one. Both nice bows. BUT. I like and shoot better with the rx7. Still playing with the carbon one. Haven’t had the best luck with it. Just ordered an era and a rx7 ultra I will let you know.
    I do have different rests and sights but I’m ordering all the same from here on out.

    Hey josh, good video great review but alittle bias towards bowtech much? Tune ability i get it fit and finnish i get it, price eh in Canada not much difference. But honestly thats where it ends. I can't say much about the carbon era, never shot one.

    First time commenting but I can’t help but wonder what would happen if you fully tuned both bows, took tags off and payed attention to chrono readings as well….only reason I say that is because the Elite has 2 different mods and that both feel completely different from each other….on top of all the other tunable features on both bows….to me, it would be very interesting to see if your opinion changes or is even stronger towards the carbon one…..just a thought…..

    I do not like how the Omnia, Era and other new Elite bows have the cables in sight window! You can not tune it out on the 2 I have owned! If they fix that they may have one of best on market for cam features for sure. I owned both and just could not get use to it.

    How about you add speed to that comparison, but do it with your hunting arrow instead of the IBO speed arrow.
