Happy Friday everyone! I want to answer a few questions I saw pop up in the comments of the last video: Q: Why a difficulty ranking instead of a quality ranking? A: This is my first time playing the series. When it comes to first impressions, difficulty is often what sticks. After taking some time to digest, understand the mechanics as a whole, and maybe even doing more playthroughs is when I like to do quality. Basically, I want to make sure I fully understand the mechanics in and out before I do quality, whereas difficulty is more of a feeling you get your first time through. If there's enough interest, I may do quality after the difficulty rankings, but since I'm playing through them back to back, my biggest initial takeaways are the challenge they offered. Q: Where are the Zelda rankings? A: They've been tabled for the time being. I plan to go back to them when we see BotW2 as a nice lead-up. I had fun with that series so far, but I want to take the time and play through each game again before continuing. Unfortunately, I don't have time for that right now.
Extreme difficulty differences: Fortune: One shots you and she fires twice per shot. Olga: You can't shoot the light out. So unless you cheese her in the gap spot this becomes tricky. Fatman: Camps the bombs to troll you once they're armed, requires six shots to knock him down. Solidus: Missiles insta-kill you and track you better, his flying drop attack also instakills you. Vamp: Knife slashes kill you. Harrier: Revamped. Most of its attacks instakill you. Sticks to you like glue during the Exhaust attack, fires rockets during machine gun fly-by difficulty. Twin missiles are stupid good tracking and also instakill you. Oh yeah, you need to kill like 25 of them.
I don't think he's even able of going through all the VR missions. Ray is not hard at all. If you fight Rex before then you know how to fight Ray the difference is that Ray's fight is about endurance and in extreme mode you have to become faster and quite more agressive. I find Solidus to be the hardest one. I think what happened was that he just played it once, so his opinion is more based on first impression than experience.
Fortune doesn't one shot you, she deals the exact same damage from very easy to extreme, the only exception is on e-extreme on which she has a lower damage output
Fortune is MUCH harder on Extreme. She quickly destroys all the cover within a few seconds and you have to constantly dodge back and forth for most of it. One slip up is a one hit death and a restart
Can confirm that Vamp is a *monster* on the higher difficulty levels. He's still cheesable, but likely to mess you up anyway. And trying to take him on without cheese is a satisfying nightmare of a fight. Just take solace in the fact that Vamp is definitely, totally dead, and you will certainly never have to fight him again.
I have to admit Demod, I've followed you for some time, especially since you covered Souls content as I was getting into the franchise. But it's quite a trip to see you take a stroll down my (and many other fellow fans) neck of the woods. Seeing your rankings takes me back to when I just started out as an MGS player and it lets me relive those memories. You rarely get to see a newbie try his hand at these kind of games so it's refreshing. The difficulty setting definitely influences how hard a boss is in this series, Fatman is a monster on Extreme and you have to destroy 20+ Rays too.. MGS2 doesn't really fuck around!
I'm really happy when I can bring a fresh perspective to a well-loved series, I just hope that I do them justice! Thanks for the long-term support James :) I did look into the extreme changes, and by god they crank the difficulty dial to 11
Tips : Olga : There is a spot in between the 3 boxes where you can shoot safely, you just have to dodge the nades. Fatman : You can shoot his rollers to make him fall immediately, plus, if you are fast enough, you can headshot him twice when he is on the ground. Harrier : During the bombing, there is a safe spot. Downstairs, left from the platform itself but right to the stairs. Vamp : Like you did in the video, you can damage his O² and a bit of life by shooting explosives in the water.
Can I add something for RAY Extreme? Stay in laser range. You can tell when its gonna fire the laser when it rears its head back. Easier to dodge than twin missiles.
@@ShadowBaofu Of course you can my fellow MGS2 fan :p Yeah, twin missiles are very hard to dodge. the laser is rather simple and it's very easy to read. Good point mate !
Dang I didn't remember how easy it was to tank things on the lower difficulties on MGS2... That's interesting, Olga would tbh be one of the harder bosses without the tanking strat. Also you missed a boss, or... "Boss." In the boss rush mode of MGS2 the attack with all the guards by the end of tanker chapter is included and considered a boss by the game, it might not have a boss health bar, but by the game's logic it is a boss. They can be a bit of a pain on the higher difficulties if you are doing a nonlethal run, but I would assume if you were going lethal they would be a bit easy? That's sorta the thing with most of the bosses here too, if you do a nonlethal run, it's far more difficult than doing a lethal run because of the limited options. I like it because it does balance the decline of difficulty in the normal game with a nonlethal run (you can get away with a lot because of it.) Anyways I consider Olga to be very hard on the higher difficulties, especially when you are trying to meet the requirements of the higher ranks and avoid using rations because she can kill you in like... 3 shots on extreme iirc. I have to replay her on those difficulties. I agree with Fatman being the best boss from the games so far, I really like the design behind him immensely, he is a fun as hell boss.
Olga definitely got more shots and me than I did her, so I would've had to adapt a lot on a higher difficulty. And oops, I didn't realize those guards were a boss. I can see why they would be considered one though. A non-lethal run would be an awesome challenge to take on! I always like hearing how things would differ from the eyes of a different playthrough. And hell yeah, Fatman is my favorite boss in MGS2, though I did like the Rays a lot.
@@theDeModcracy Olga is pretty fun on the higher difficulties, I enjoy her battle a lot. I am surprised you can play a bit recklessly on the lower difficulties, but it isn't on Extreme so that's fair given it's a first time playthrough. Also yee, the guards are a boss but it's really easy to miss it because of the fact they are in the boss rush feature which you would have to go out your way to find. (I think you'd enjoy it!) And yeah, the non lethal runs on these games are a lot of fun honestly! They can be easier when doing the levels of the game because you are less likely to give your presence away with a sleeping guy rather than a dead guy, but the boss fights for the most part can be more punishing on a nonlethal playthrough. (God damn guards.) Honestly, a no tranq nonlethal run on MGS3 is a lot of fun because of all the tools you get on the game to mess around with. You should search up "MGS3 サルタクロースからのプレゼント2009" after you finish MGS3, it's a really stupid fun video and it highlights a lot of the depth all the systems the game has, the channel is a gold mine of fun MGS3 things, it is a game that offers an IMMENSE amount of playstyles. Super Bunnyhop has a really good video essay about MGS3 (and MGS1 and 2 too) highlighting this too. It's fun. Fatman pretty top tier, he is among my favorite boss fights of all time. I really love how he operates, and on repeat playthroughs he is fun. The rays are also a lot of fun, I in fact enjoy most of the bosses the game offers. One strong strength MGS has in general is how the bosses challenge the player in every aspect of the gameplay that the game has to offer. It's fantastic. At least every title up to 4. (MGS5 only 3 "bosses," one is used several times in the game and it is badddddddddddddddddddd.) Also here a little fun tip for mgs3 that will help smoothen things out a bit, you can do a thing called a tactical reload by unequipping a weapon and equipping it, avoiding the reload animation. It can also make your shots on single fire guns such as the tranq gun a lot faster too which can lead to some pretty fun tactics. The game doesn't really mention it but in an instructions manual it includes that feature, it's really useful and a lot of fun. It helps a lot too when doing a nonlethal run. I hope you enjoy mgs3 too, it's my favorite game of all time! It has a really great story and my favorite gameplay out of a game. It's just utter bliss.
@@ilovenierreplicant2983 cant blame you for being passionate my dude once he hits 3 that's gonna be my big fan moment (as big boss his story and the games around his story are my favorite) personally I couldnt get into 2 as well as I did the others and i never completed revengeance i dont like raiden that much and it marred the experience for me
Well... I mean, i'd say about half of them are among the best, while the other half is mediocre. Really curious to see how he'll do against the end given his main strat during mgs2. (Spoiler: that's probably the worst strat against the end)
For the Metal Gear RAYs, this is where you need to be fast, not just in movement, but also in your actions. Position Raiden in from of any RAY, aim for the leg, unequip, then move. When the RAY you target cries, aim for the head, unequip, move. George Salonikh does quick snaps and after a few failed E-Extreme runs, he got the rhythm. Position, equip Stinger, leg, fire, unequip, move, cry, equip Stinger, head, fire, unequip, move. Note, maintain some distance between the RAY you're watching, but also watch the other two RAYs. If you're too close to any RAY, they will use their water cutters that instakill on E-Extreme. Also by being too close, the RAYs will fire their leg missiles, but you won't have reaction time to dodge, which is why distance and movement are important. Btw, even though chaff helps, because the three RAYs will constantly attack you, they won't even give you breathing room to pop a chaff grenade, so it's best to stick to movement and distance.
The funny thing with Vamp's fight is there's a few tricks the game doesn't tell you which like in any MGS game are really helpful. Like the fact you can prevent him from binding your shadow by shooting out the lights under the platform he jumps on. The Claymore strategy doesn't work when his health is near depleted because he moves way to fast, honestly for the last phase blind firing seems like the best bet.
My list (easiest to hardest, on Extreme): 1. Fortune: just make sure you get her to destroy the barrels and use all of your cover. When it ends equip a C. Box and run from one corner to the other; 2. Solidus: by far the easiest final boss I've fought. Most of Solidus' attack can be guarded and as for the homming missiles: when he fires them, go to a ledge to go to hanging mode and wait for a few seconds to get back up again; 3. Olga: kinda tough when attempting the first time (I was colecting dog-tags and my health was below half, so any shot that got me was an insta-kill). You can't neither shoot the blanket nor the lights, unlike easier difficulties. The fight gets easier when you figure her patterns during the second and third phase (if you don't do anything, she will throw a grenade, giving you a brief moment to shoot her); 4. Harrier: The game gets hard here. The missile barrage and the machine gun barrage takes 25% of your health, and the rest of his attacks are an instant-kill. I've used a guide for this one, and learned that: going up and down in the stairs when he is in front of you is a lot easier than going from one end of the arena to the other (the bad part about this fight is how the stinger missiles will explode before and on the Harrier); 5. Metal Gear Ray: Ray is, oddly enough, the most entertaining boss in the game. I just love the tense atmosphere it has, moving around the arena while getting spammed by H. Missiles. Just don't get too close otherwise it's game-over; 6. Fatman: Probaly the hardest. The guy is a complete jokester in lower difficulties, but he is extremely annoying on Extreme. Planting Claymores might help, but the worst part is defusing 4 or 5 bombs in under 30 seconds... ugh. And as for Vamp: I always use the "cheap" strategy. Much better than retrying over 20 times (and one of those times being 1 HIT away from killing him) and pray for luck
I remember always looking forward to the vamp fights in this game, but that could just because I loved beating his ass both in this and in MGS 4, but I always thought they were the highlights in this game.
I'm in the middle of playing metal gear solid 5 so I'm pretty excited for this series rankings, also they should add a big boss or venom snake costume to smash bros ultimate
Love all the subtle little touches in all these fights. At the risk of spoiling things, I'll just mention one. In the Vamp fight, you can shoot out the lights to prevent him from using his shadow-pinning move.
Ah neat! I didn't think to do that. He weirdly never tried it in the second fight I had with him when I cam out on top. I love those little touches though
As someone who’s played MGS2 more times then he personally cares to admit, this was a pretty solid list. I personally find Vamp harder to take down than the Harrier on higher difficulty levels but the rest is spot on.
MGS2 is pretty bonkers plot-wise but MGS3 will blow your mind gameplay-wise. Have fun dude, we all get excited when someone we know plays these games for the first time!
@@jamesfletcher1319 I don't know, when you think about it, mgs2 was pretty hi-tech gameplay wise too, specifically, with environmental interactions which in mgs3 were kinda lacking on favor of a different gameplay loop, bigger maps and more detailed environments.
Love the video. I personally havent played any metal gear solid games an so far it seems as if i understand each boss by how you talk about them. The sad thing is im not as invested as i want to be i the video, which sucms because i love the videos. Anyways keep up the great work. PS do you plan a quality ranking? Just asking
Thank you for giving the videos a shot! I do my best to describe things well so those who haven't played can still enjoy the video, so I'm happy that's working out. I may do a quality ranking in the future. We'll see how my schedule is looking after Death Stranding.
I loved the first, but I think it showed it's age a bit poorly. MGS2 was a huge step in a better direction for me. One of my favorite games I've played this year - and it's been a damn good year.
@@solidsnake9898 bollocks my ass; it's one of my most beloved games ever and litterally the most important game in my life, it's what made me a videogamer and what left me with some of my life's best memories, and even i can tell mgs1 it's outdated -especially in gameplay- and possibly the worst in the original Solid main tetralogy(battling up with mgs4 whicj actually has a stellar Evolution in gameplay, compared to the involution of mgsv which is just... Weird) Twin snakes might fare better, but the cutscenes are... Well, you know.
One day, and if you want a real challenge, you should try a big boss emblem for MGS 1,2,3 and 4. the bosses act differently on higher difficulty and some of them can even one shot you. For me ( on European Extreme ) : Vamp ambush - easiest Vamp Fortune Fatman Olga Harrier Solidus Rays - hardest I would like to add the fight against the tengus in Arsenal Gear as the most difficult part in the game, it's really insane on E. Extreme.
These bosses change a lot with Extreme and European Extreme. The Harrier and Vamp fights on PS2 EE are near the top hardest bosses I've ever done in any game.
Play it again on Extreme when you can! RAY and Fatman are the hardest bosses ive ever played in any game. Ray because its a half hour battle where you get one shotted, Fatman because you have like 14 seconds to disarm 5 bombs. I'd say even the easiest bosses on extreme in this are harder than the hardest Soulsborne bosses. Easiest boss was Olga and she was still a one shot machine with lots of different mechanics going on (the searchlight segment was hell). But my god beating them is suuuuuuch a satisfying feeling.
Yeah, the horde of Metal Gear Rays are a pain to deal with (Very Easy and Easy needs you defeat 3, Normal needs 6, Hard needs 12 and both Extreme and European Extreme needs 20 out of 23), the ranking I asume it was on Normal difficulty... right?
Just curious do you plan on doing all the metal gear games including the spinoffs or just mgs 1-5? If its the former then you have my sympathy for the Peacewalker bosses.
anyone else used to feel badass & actively choose to slice solidus's tentacle missiles in half with the sword? xD even though they were easy to dodge and you risked getting blown the F up if you messed up the timing. haha
I have an odd ranking. This is on Normal Difficulty 8. Vamp II 7. Fortune 6. Olga 5. Solidus 4. Harrier 3. Fatman 2. Metal Gear Rays 1. Vamp I Vamp was honestly the only boss that gave me trouble. Took me 5 tries. Later phases are killer. Metal Gear Rays were hyped up to me as being ridiculously difficult. I know that you have to fight more on higher difficulties but it doesn't seem too daunting. On my 3rd try I took out all 6 without ever having to use a ration. Fatman wasn't that bad but he has one bomb placement in the bottom left that I couldn't find. Took me 3 tries because of that but the rest was super easy but fun. Every other boss I beat on my 1st try. Yes, even Solidus. The bosses in mgs 1 were far more difficult.
I beat every boss first try except solidus and the metal gear rays because it took me a few attempts to realize when you shot the legs of the metal gear you can do a ton of damage and solidus took a few because same as this video I didn’t realize blocking was a good idea and tried dodging all his attacks for a bit. Farman is a lot easier if you used the claymores as hell just run into them and get stunned constantly. For vamp he was definitely tough but I managed to not get killed by him with a sliver of health
can I just ask, are you also going to rank dlc bosses? Since some of the dlc bosses of metal gear rising for example are literally some of the hardest in the game, Not to mention that the hardest boss of the game is the final boss of one of the dlcs
I'd love you to play and rank monster hunter but the problem might be that the monsters aren't consistent in how strong they are and it depends on which terrain you fight them in
I played msg2 all the way through for the first time on my old ps2 a few months ago and I couldn’t save the entire time because I didn’t have a memory card so I had to beat the game really quickly so I stayed up all night and played all the next day for about 3 days and beat it after having to restart at the end of the tanker because I accidentally ejected the disc and when I finally reached the end the way I beat solidus was by hanging off the end he of the building and then when he came up to stomp me off I hopped back up because I discover I was invincible during the animation and couldn’t get knocked out of it I could get up and while he was finishing his stomp I could whale on him hard but it didn’t always work and it did take maybe 30-45 minutes to beat him because it wasn’t after a few tries I discovered this little trick
Sadly on the backburner. I came back and tried to do to many series at once to juggle. I'd really like to go back though, I want to finish that series since it was such a big part of my childhood.
@@theDeModcracy Understandable you had it take a back seat, it's hardly a series that's short on bosses. Enjoying the current uploads regardless though.
@@kraggi13 fair, everything connected to the story is kind of a mess unfortunately due to the whole kojima vs konami thing Moment to moment though mgs5 has some of the most fun gameplay there is
Might be because i was used to every other mgs, but V just wasn't my cup of cake under any point of view, i even preferred peace walker to it, which mind you, i really don't like. Mission based, open world yet with a singular map you get dropped in every time, gameplay is far closer to a standard tps witj added casual mechanics than the "strategical stealth tps" that arr the two titles before it... I dunno, i just didn't like it, regardless of its quality (even if it's clear kojima was trying to make death stranding with it)
@@iota-09 I can definitely see how offputting 5 would be to someone who's a fan of the others. It's more of a fps than tps imo though, tps just isnt accurate enough
5 is also my least favorite MGS but it's still a good game imo. The core gameplay itself is probably the best i've ever seen in any 3rd person shooter or stealth game.
It might just be my experience but MGS ray bosses are honestly super easy once you have the rhythm of knee shot to face shot down. And harrier is just a cake walk if you stay at the stairs and just avoid getting hit
Yup, same for me, then again, i never tried em on Harder difficulties... Imho the hardest boss in the main tetralogy is the rex though. Also tbh, i would have made the rankings based on a non-lethal run, but i guess this is fine too.
Can I add a criticism to definition here..... I've been watching your boss rankings for around 2 years now but some encounters can be differentiated through this ecstasy term.... A boss FIGHT and a boss ENCOUNTER. Some are scripted moments that progress story and others are actual fights. Maybe a new ranking series? Means I get more lovely DeMod haunting vocals in my ears too......
The Metal Gear Solid franchise is one that, like many others, I suck at but absolutely adore. I've played them all (except the handheld ones), and I hate to see the franchise die. You will really love MGS 3. Easily the best one in the series (in my opinion).
Even if I can understand how things are meant to work mechanically, I suck at them pretty bad myself. I'm not sure if it's the age or my skills (probably both), but I'm still in love with the franchise so far. I just started the first 2 hours of MGS3 and I'm already hooked!
Demod my dude metal gear bosses have 2 different difficulties I get it's your first time so you may not know but especially starting with 3 every body has a fatigue or tranq way of fighting and a lethal and certain bosses (again really starting with 3) have special mechanics and difficulty in the tranq versions of the fight so can you also add difficulty to tranq in your rankings?
As great as MGS2 is, I felt it was too short and didn't have enough boss fights. - For me, a great MGS game should have about 10 boss fights (like MGS1 and MGS3 - I'll admit, I like them more). This one only had like 7 boss fights. (I don't think Fortune really counts as a boss as it's just running around, survival and endurance until the codec call interrupts the fight) Still great though.
While i do respect the ranking, i agree that is on normal difficulty. Fatman/Vamp are almost imposible in extreme. Metal gear Ray is the hardest boss in the series in mgs 2 extreme (IMO). Is really an endurance after you survived the raid fission mailed. Is one of the games in wich the difficulty almost takes the worst of me actually lol
I watch this but I keep having it in the back of my mind on how far harder things get for European Extrame, given i've beaten that (Especially with how you can't get rid of the light or sheet for olga + 1 hit kill, the speed of Vamp's fight, etc).
Oh yeah, there is a strat where since Vamp's melee when you're hanging is so slow that if you constantly melee them run right behind him, you can lock him in a loop of doing that animation if you stay close to him XD
on the extreme difficulty you have to fight 20 metal gear rays in arsenal gears rectum, still 3 a time but one replaces the dead one each time and they have new attacks, do more damage etc, but imo solidus on extreme was the hardest boss in this game, i wasn't great with the sword though
I agree that Solidus is much harder on Extreme, his missles are absolutely brutal and you likely won't have any rations to deal with the tremendous damage he deals. That said I don't consider Ray to be all that difficult sheerly because their cycle never changes throughout the fight, in Extreme it's just really fucking long.
This series up until Rising is gonna conflict with me, because I hear about healing in and killing in an MGS game and I cringe. Then, I remember its Demod's first playthrough of them all and relax a little.
To be fair, I don't think it's a big problem; healing is fine, it's a game mechanic, and while a non-lethal run is what kojima tries to push for in his games, plotwise it makes sense that in his first run demod would go for lethal.

On Extreme difficulty, the Harrier is freaking nuts, easily the hardest in the game
From memory on that difficulty it was the multiple ray fights for me.
Except if you abuse invincible frames from hanging from stuff
Weird, i always thought the harrier was easy. He is so easy to dodge
I'd argue Fatman is harder on extreme due to his c4 and on extreme the harrier doesn't really know what to do when u just go up and down the stairs
RAYs and Fatman were waaaaaay harder than the Harrier imo. But every boss on extreme was nuts (besides Vamp on the bridge)

That's sorta the thing with most of the bosses here too, if you do a nonlethal run, it's far more difficult than doing a lethal run because of the limited options. I like it because it does balance the decline of difficulty in the normal game with a nonlethal run (you can get away with a lot because of it.)
Anyways I consider Olga to be very hard on the higher difficulties, especially when you are trying to meet the requirements of the higher ranks and avoid using rations because she can kill you in like...
@@theDeModcracy
Olga is pretty fun on the higher difficulties, I enjoy her battle a lot.
It's just utter bliss.
sorry if that's a lot btw, I am just really passionate about these games.

You're in for a treat with MGS3. Best Bosses in the series by far!
No. Just no.
Well... I mean, i'd say about half of them are among the best, while the other half is mediocre.
Really curious to see how he'll do against the end given his main strat during mgs2.
(Spoiler: that's probably the worst strat against the end)
The combats are really nice and creative. But MGS1 FOXHOUND blows them out of the water in every aspect.
First time play the game blows my mind, holy shit that intro still one of my favorites ever
I completely agree. Quality list D'Mod!! Keep up the amazing work dude
My experiences in a nutshell:
Vamp: HOLD STILL
Harrier: what's that noise? OH SHIT
RAYs: how many are there?!
"eckelon"
Love you, Demod
lol woops I thought I remembered that one right.
Lol your thoughts on fat man are the same for me. He is honestly one of my favorite bosses in the series he's so goffy
The Metal Gear Ray fight is such a difficulty spike its insane. ****in love this game though.
My favorite game in the series! Hell yeah!
What a good intro. More Bed of Chaos bashing please. Also great list.
My list (easiest to hardest, on Extreme):
1. Fortune: just make sure you get her to destroy the barrels and use all of your cover. When it ends equip a C. Box and run from one corner to the other;
2. Solidus: by far the easiest final boss I've fought. Most of Solidus' attack can be guarded and as for the homming missiles: when he fires them, go to a ledge to go to hanging mode and wait for a few seconds to get back up again;
3. Olga: kinda tough when attempting the first time (I was colecting dog-tags and my health was below half, so any shot that got me was an insta-kill). You can't neither shoot the blanket nor the lights, unlike easier difficulties. The fight gets easier when you figure her patterns during the second and third phase (if you don't do anything, she will throw a grenade, giving you a brief moment to shoot her);
4. Harrier: The game gets hard here. The missile barrage and the machine gun barrage takes 25% of your health, and the rest of his attacks are an instant-kill. I've used a guide for this one, and learned that: going up and down in the stairs when he is in front of you is a lot easier than going from one end of the arena to the other (the bad part about this fight is how the stinger missiles will explode before and on the Harrier);
5. Metal Gear Ray: Ray is, oddly enough, the most entertaining boss in the game. I just love the tense atmosphere it has, moving around the arena while getting spammed by H. Missiles. Just don't get too close otherwise it's game-over;
I can’t wait for the MGS3 rankings
Your so freaking hilarious bro! Love these videos
I remember always looking forward to the vamp fights in this game, but that could just because I loved beating his ass both in this and in MGS 4, but I always thought they were the highlights in this game.
That opening was sheer genius. Another great list to add to the world. Well done sir

THE HOMIE DEMOD BACK WITH ANOTHER ONE ✊🏾💪🏾
I'm in the middle of playing metal gear solid 5 so I'm pretty excited for this series rankings, also they should add a big boss or venom snake costume to smash bros ultimate
Love all the subtle little touches in all these fights. At the risk of spoiling things, I'll just mention one. In the Vamp fight, you can shoot out the lights to prevent him from using his shadow-pinning move.
Ah neat! I didn't think to do that. He weirdly never tried it in the second fight I had with him when I cam out on top. I love those little touches though
There's lots of more this kind of thing in MGS3, so if you haven't played that one yet, keep an eye out!
As someone who’s played MGS2 more times then he personally cares to admit, this was a pretty solid list. I personally find Vamp harder to take down than the Harrier on higher difficulty levels but the rest is spot on.
I can see why you'd play it that many times! I loved the first, but MGS2 was next level for me. I can't wait to do MGS3, I'm starting today!
theDeModcracy MGS2 is my personal favorite in the series, but 3 seems to be the most loved overall. I hope you enjoy your time with it for sure.
MGS2 is pretty bonkers plot-wise but MGS3 will blow your mind gameplay-wise. Have fun dude, we all get excited when someone we know plays these games for the first time!
@@theDeModcracy mgs 3 is where they perfected it
@@jamesfletcher1319 I don't know, when you think about it, mgs2 was pretty hi-tech gameplay wise too, specifically, with environmental interactions which in mgs3 were kinda lacking on favor of a different gameplay loop, bigger maps and more detailed environments.
That opening was pretty good
I never played MG once, i don't have a single clue about the serie.
But these rankings are way too good for me to ignore this.

MGS2 is a favorite of mine. I know that game inside and out.
I loved the first, but I think it showed it's age a bit poorly. MGS2 was a huge step in a better direction for me. One of my favorite games I've played this year - and it's been a damn good year.
@@theDeModcracy Glad you enjoyed it! I look forward to the other MGS games you cover. I consider myself an expert so I am curious on your perspective.
@@theDeModcracy The original is timeless. You're talking bollocks.
Weird)
Twin snakes might fare better, but the cutscenes are... Well, you know.
@@solidsnake9898 I'm sorry, its not. I love the series but MGS 1 has aged pretty bloody badly. Take your nostalgia goggles off.
After finishing the ranking woukd you concerder going back through on the harder settings? Things change quite a bit the higher mode you are on.
The Vamp Fight was the most use I’ve got from Claymores in the MGS Series
I recall beating Vamp by first shooting out the lights and then using the Rocket Launcher.
So excited for MGS3. That is in my top five favorite games
One day, and if you want a real challenge, you should try a big boss emblem for MGS 1,2,3 and 4. the bosses act differently on higher difficulty and some of them can even one shot you.
For me ( on European Extreme ) :
Vamp ambush - easiest
Vamp
Fortune
Fatman
Olga
Harrier
Solidus
Rays - hardest
I would like to add the fight against the tengus in Arsenal Gear as the most difficult part in the game, it's really insane on E. Extreme.
Olga's knife is a ballistic knife. Fires the blade with pressure, not a firearm cartridge
Your videos keep me alive
Cheers nibor. It's a beautiful day
These bosses change a lot with Extreme and European Extreme. The Harrier and Vamp fights on PS2 EE are near the top hardest bosses I've ever done in any game.
Metal gear rays are bad too just due to the sheer length and one shot and ur done
You're joking. Another one? This is too good.
When should we expect the next top 100 to be out?
the intro is 10/10
Vamp on the highest difficulty was a nightmare. A fun fight to master but boy, it took some precise execution for me.
I marathoned this game series before and yep the Metal Gear rays is the hardest endurance fight i ever had the displeasure of doing xD
Great video! I agree with most of your rankings. Did you enjoy the game?
I thought my earphones broke at the start of the video with the audio quality
Yeah, the horde of Metal Gear Rays are a pain to deal with (Very Easy and Easy needs you defeat 3, Normal needs 6, Hard needs 12 and both Extreme and European Extreme needs 20 out of 23), the ranking I asume it was on Normal difficulty... right?
This video makes me metal gear solid
Just curious do you plan on doing all the metal gear games including the spinoffs or just mgs 1-5? If its the former then you have my sympathy for the Peacewalker bosses.
Fighting the Harrier on extreme snake doesn’t back you up with attacks at all and less ammo and rations
anyone else used to feel badass & actively choose to slice solidus's tentacle missiles in half with the sword? xD even though they were easy to dodge and you risked getting blown the F up if you messed up the timing. haha
I have an odd ranking. This is on Normal Difficulty
8. Vamp II
7. Fortune
6. Olga
5. Solidus
4. Harrier
3. Fatman
2. Metal Gear Rays
1. Vamp I
Vamp was honestly the only boss that gave me trouble.
Since some of the dlc bosses of metal gear rising for example are literally some of the hardest in the game,
Not to mention that the hardest boss of the game is the final boss of one of the dlcs
A DUD!?
ohnDUD
The famous purple stuffed worm with a tuning fork is the BEST boss.
Gotta give a like just for that opening alone
Well there be a Nioh boss ranking video anytime soon? My opinion its the hardest souls game made so far
Not sure if I maybe missed a tweet or post somewhere along the line but whatever happened to the community ranking video for Kingdom Hearts 1?

The core gameplay itself is probably the best i've ever seen in any 3rd person shooter or stealth game.
I already know number 1 of revenegeance. If you do that one, that is.
He will rank Revengence bosses
It might just be my experience but MGS ray bosses are honestly super easy once you have the rhythm of knee shot to face shot down. And harrier is just a cake walk if you stay at the stairs and just avoid getting hit
Yup, same for me, then again, i never tried em on Harder difficulties... Imho the hardest boss in the main tetralogy is the rex though.
Also tbh, i would have made the rankings based on a non-lethal run, but i guess this is fine too.
The stairs were the key to survival on extreme mode.
When is the next LoZ ranking?
What difficulty are you playing on?
Can’t wait for mgsv
And it’s one boss fight
It’s so true that I threw up laughing
Whoooooo?
Can I add a criticism to definition here..... I've been watching your boss rankings for around 2 years now but some encounters can be differentiated through this ecstasy term.... A boss FIGHT and a boss ENCOUNTER. Some are scripted moments that progress story and others are actual fights. Maybe a new ranking series? Means I get more lovely DeMod haunting vocals in my ears too......
Exact... Not ecstasy..... Fuck.....

For me, a great MGS game should have about 10 boss fights (like MGS1 and MGS3 - I'll admit, I like them more).
This one only had like 7 boss fights. (I don't think Fortune really counts as a boss as it's just running around, survival and endurance until the codec call interrupts the fight)
Still great though.
It would be good to specify what difficulty you're playing on for a video about difficulty
He always plays on the normal difficulty. He's specified this enough that it should be well known.
dude, the fatman fight being one of the best isn't an unpopular opinion at all.
Something tell me you haven’t achieved the Big Boss tittle for this game, have you?
I watch this but I keep having it in the back of my mind on how far harder things get for European Extrame, given i've beaten that (Especially with how you can't get rid of the light or sheet for olga + 1 hit kill, the speed of Vamp's fight, etc).
Oh yeah, there is a strat where since Vamp's melee when you're hanging is so slow that if you constantly melee them run right behind him, you can lock him in a loop of doing that animation if you stay close to him XD
I Proud To Say I Have The Platinum Trophy for MGS2 and MGS3
on the extreme difficulty you have to fight 20 metal gear rays in arsenal gears rectum, still 3 a time but one replaces the dead one each time and they have new attacks, do more damage etc, but imo solidus on extreme was the hardest boss in this game, i wasn't great with the sword though
You will love MGS3 and its bosses.
Obviously Fat Man from the og mgs2 is the most difficult (had a glitched cd so bombs were actually invisible and I couldn't freeze them).
This is a good day
Ya may not be the best with MGS, but at least you knew what an ariel was. Props
11:29 Fission Mailed I havent played the series so is it supose to happen
Yea, it is a easter egg
This series up until Rising is gonna conflict with me, because I hear about healing in and killing in an MGS game and I cringe. Then, I remember its Demod's first playthrough of them all and relax a little.
To be fair, I don't think it's a big problem; healing is fine, it's a game mechanic, and while a non-lethal run is what kojima tries to push for in his games, plotwise it makes sense that in his first run demod would go for lethal.
Ah the Harrier, like the Hind D but good.
Idk why, but for some reason, Fatman and fortune were harder then the harrier and vamp for me.
Personally waiting for revengance list
You should try on highest difficulty. The bosses aren’t even the same. They are truly ridiculously hard.
I never finished MGS 2 because of the metal gears boss battle. Cannot get a win no matter what I do or how many walkthrough tips I looked up.
