I found that it's not that the bosses are difficult. It's just the path and enemies you go through to go to the bosses are hard since the only way to get a checkpoint/bonfire/archstone here is to beat a boss.
@@gb5164 ye it was the first one tho and you played the remaster with smooth gameplay, it was much more difficult with the old clunky gameplay. Tbh the game was harder when you went full dark world and character tendency and fought the NPCs, this was 100x more difficult than any bossfight in the game. Sleen Vinland, Satsuki and Lord Rydell were difficult to beat like that. Especially Sleen cuz you had to fight her in the poison/mud level.
That jump backward, though. He trapped me in the corner (read: I let myself be trapped in the corner) and then jumped on me a few times. Yes, I actually died to him.
fools idol is easier than portrayed here. You can simply lock onto each idol, the one that doesnt have a small health bar is the real one. (You would basically kill the bed of chaos, and then fight an optional boss, which is the witch of izalith as this fiery being that is half made of fire and half made of that wood stuff that the bed of chaos is made of. Might even give her a fire whip for the fight!))
What I really like about Demon's Souls is how certain bosses are the hardest, for certain classes. In my OG DeS play, Maneater was tough, but I died only once with my Bow focused character, and that death was my own a slip(off a ledge). And in the Remake, well. I went mage, and flame-broiled them. But for melee focused characters, Maneater is a tear eater. False King in contrast, is much harder for my ranged characters, as he covers distance like a Flash villain. I like this, as this plays into one of DeS's greatest strengths, in that, you choose your path, and boss order. And everyone's ends up being slightly different as they play towards their character's strengths.
one thing i noticed in this is that a lot of the bosses can be easily bested with bows and magic, but going in with a melee build is almost like handicapping yourself
@@jeremybk54 Demon's Souls better split the RPG paths than Dark Souls. What I mean, is you can main a spell caster or bow, and actually mostly spellcast or bow. Dark Souls in contrast, started to focus it's combat much more on being a shield & "sword" fighter first, and your "class" just augments that. Magic is still strong, but with its limited casts, you rely on your magic scaling weapon more. And the bow is just a support weapon for a dex build. And Bloodborne is its own beast. Focusing much more on aggressive gameplay, and is more defined by the weapon you use, than the skill tree you focus on.
i'm a noob to demon's souls and i loved the remake. your rankings match mine pretty closely, however the real #1 hardest boss is the run to the old hero. i went pure melee since it's almost always what i do in souls games, and i actually thought i would never make it to that boss. it took me so many tries just to get to the boss fog that i'm not at all ashamed to admit i looked up the strategy for the boss itself so i'd never have to subject myself to that torture again 😂
Fr, those "EL NACHOS" waiting for you with giant MACHETES was a real pain to get through. I kept luring 1 with a bow before taking the other but kept dyong cuz of the stingrays THAT STING
For me flamelurker was the hardest, I needed like 20+ tries to kill him, on the other hand, I defeated old king allant in my first try, all his attacks are easy to dodge.. For maneater I needed like 4-5 tries, if you can kill the first one quickly, it's a lot easier, and if you fight in the center you won't risk falling down
Depends on which NG+ you're on I think. On max NG+ every boss is a joke compared to Flamelurker and Maneater Allant isn't even close to being close to being close.
Flamelurker and Maneater were the only bosses that I had to try more than once. Flamelurker because I underestimated him, Maneater because I died more often to gravity.
First time I got killed by an elevator in WoW, it was in a new raid so the party almost wiped. Waiting for the elevator only to suddenly die was one of the funniest things ever.

Demon's Soul's was my first Souls game to ever play. First class I made was royalty then I played through to firelurker. I was hardly ever dying to I felt like I was missing out on the true masochistic experience. So I started reading and decided to make my barbarian
Finally played through this one, never having played the original. Awesome experience. Nice to finally be able to watch videos like this without spoiling my experience
I usually don't like when remakes change the feel, atmosphere and presentation of OG bosses. But the Storm king is an exception. The fight was much more intense and badass in the remake.
Just finished my first playthrough! Absolutely loved it! Was a veteran of other FromSoftware games, but never went back to Demon's Souls. I didn't love the weapon upgrade system, but overall brilliant game!
This really shows me how the souls games are different for everyone. Personally for my first play through, things like Armored Spider were easy to me even without the arrow spam cheese beating it on my first try, but something like the adjudicator causing me lots of trouble and multiple attempts to get past.
To be fair with false king Allant, When he drains a soul level it leaves all the souls it took for that level in your bloodstain, Just something neat and interesting with that~

I'm playing demon souls remake finally and I'm amazed at how different it is than my first playthrough back on PS3. I must have spent 20 hours getting through the first few parts of bullet area and I didn't last night without a death until tower knight. Knowing how these games work really changes how you approach them. It's still a great game but nothing can compare to the Wonder and send some exploration the first time you play a soul's game
Heh phalanx is my favorite boss in the game. Simply because he reminds me of nightmare from dmc and seeing him now in all his remade glory just makes me happy. Also great video!
I think the Penetrator was easy. I did sweat a bit, but my trick was to check on which side he's rising his sword. If he raises it on his right, he's gonna do a delayed attack. If it's on his left, it's a fast one.
An interesting idea might be to do another playthrough where you fight the bosses in order of your difficulty from easiest to hardest where possible. This would mean you have to go to 5-1 after 1-1, then 5-2, then all of world 3, and so on. I'd be curious if your ranks change.
It's awesome seeing you back at it DMOD, the thing with Demon's Souls I think sets it apart from Dark Souls has always been and will always be it's world design. The choice to go with stages rather than an interconnected world allowed them to create some of the most intricate levels in all of gaming and I never get sick of it. I think 4-3 was definitely the best looking stage in the remake, the storm effects and the way Storm King moves is breathtaking. Hardest boss for me? Flamelurker this time around, I think the updated frame rate actually made it a lot harder for me to respond to his attacks and he kept piling damage though it was still a great boss fight.
Watching this video, I suddenly realized how much my opinion has changed since 2012 when I first played Demon’s Souls. I used to find Leechmonger really difficult but now he’s embarrassingly easy. Vanguard used to be difficult for me but now I beat him 9 times out of 10. I used to have to cheese Armor Spider, but not anymore. I haven’t played the remake yet, because the PS5 costs like $1700 if you wanna buy one online, but I’m guessing my opinion will change even more. God I fucking love Demon’s Souls.
NG+ really made me appreciate every single boss battle. Man, the Adjucicator killed me in a single hit, even with 35 vitality. And so did the tower knight, with the spear swipe.
The only bosses I've struggled with have been Flamelurker and False King Allant. I'm sure that will change over time as I continue changing my build orders.
I like to think that all the new ost tracks you used in the background are the ones you liked, I get why people don’t like it, but it honestly sounds so good I can’t hate it
I fully believe that armored spider is that difficult, but when I got to it my arachnophobia kicked in, I was GRIPPING my controller so tight and somehow managed to beat it first try. Thank fucking god for that I mighta quit if i had to do it twice 😭
I fought the Flame Lurker, Dragon God, and Man Eater as my 3rd, 5th, and 6th bosses in this game...... No wonder it felt so unfair, I was definitely fighting them too early
Actually they DID increase leechmonger and dirty colossus’s defense and health, so both last longer than they did the original. Sadly this only matters if you defeat them earlier than DeMod did.
Penetrator is such a cool boss that I feel is placed too late in the game. By the time I fought him, he wasn't a challenge at all cause I already was at SL60
Haven’t reached the end yet but Flamelurker was the hardest for me. I attempted him when I first got to 2-1 and quickly realized I need to play much more of the game to go toe to toe with him. So I went and played all of the x-1 levels, came back to Flamelurker and he was still kicking my ass. I got so good at getting down those platforms from all the times I died. I later realized the trick with having a magic weapon and that he’s slightly weaker to blunt damage so equipped a mace that also has a magic attack, it was still painful but eventually I got it
I just got this game last week and I absolutely loved it. The overall bosses weren’t difficult in my opinion but they were unique in their own way. The hardest part of the game was just the lack of check points you get and literally the damn tendency 😭😭😭. But overall demon souls ps5 is a much get if you love soulsbourne or wanna get into the community. I finished the game with the moonlight faith build.
Just making my way through the game for the first time at the moment and man, does this video make me feel vindicated for still being stuck on the Maneater fight. I just can't seem to get the hang of it, no matter how hard I try. Thought it was just me for a while, but this ranking definitely makes me feel better lol. Great vid as always!
imo the EASIEST way to solve the issue is to add a high platform after you enter the fog gate where you then drop down to the actual boss fight similar to the adjudicator from demon's souls, this would help solve a bunch of issues: - it is presented as an actual puzzle instead of a mad dash to the staircase - you get to survey the scene first before actually initiating - you get a safe space to test out countermeasures to see which works and which doesn't If you don't want to change the design layout too much (or if you think this would make it too easy or too cheesable with firebombs), another thing you could do is to make the hallway a bit longer so that you don't get charged on frame one by both the capra and the dog when you haven't even regained visibility. Any amount of time to process information is still better than no time.
This was my first souls game. I died SO many times to maneater that u ended up saving him for last, right before Penetrator. I went into it blind and chose a magician and used magic with the falchion crescent. When I went back, I used the big fire spell (firestorm?) And I had put so much into magic at that point that it did just about a full health bar (like 95%). I liked using magic, but it really limited me in terms of what shield I could have since I had like no strength and the false king boss was brutal since I did so little damage using a falchion. Very tough game but I'm so glad I finally played and beat a souls game
You can pull the skellies in 4-1 one by one which makes them way easier to handle. And then the 2nd Vanguard demon can be lured into the pit to cheese him real quick.
Gotta say, I found the Armor Spider extremely tough. Granted, this is my first time playing DS but sometimes dodging the webs can be tricky and the fireballs can wreck your shit.
I finished my first "blind" run of Demon's Souls a week ago and was actually surprised and at the same time somewhat disappointed by the overal difficulty of the boss fights. The only boss I died to multiple times was Armour Spider (got stuck on the permanent spider webs left and right of the spider a lot) and I fell of the bridge in the Maneater fight once but I "first tried" every other boss in the game. There are so many fights you could potentially cheese or were there is an easy kill method once you figure it out. Flamelurker, Penetrator and False King Allant were the only fights were I felt like I had to actually give my best in an honest 1v1 duel against the boss.
Great ranking! Phalanx was way harder for me in the remake, I actually died; in the original I steamrolled him so hard I didn’t even realize it was a boss, just thought it was more shield enemies.
"Unless you picked royalty" I feel attacked 😅. Should say though I only picked it because I never used magic in the original so I wanted to see how overpowered it was for myself
@@VanpyroGaming0 yeah it's stupid powerful you can one shot most bosses with firestorm even multiole ng+ in. Locking-on the fake Fool's Idols shows a mini health bar. Locking-on the maneater will make the camera auto-follow the boss and you won't lose sight of them. I don't know if you can do it in the remake, but in the PS3 version you could kill the 1st maneater before entering the fog gate by sniping it.

As far as I loved the original and I’m absolutely loving the remake as I’m playing it right now, I would never say it’s the best Souls game. DeS bosses simply can’t compare to the other games bosses.
I personally hate the Dragon God fight . Took me way to long to beat him even knowing what his gimmick is . Just constant unknowing what pillars are safe and what wasn't until it was too late

@@EndomouEnd exactly, like the route to the tower knight killed me way more than the actual tower knight

(Also, if they were to remake dark souls, I would want them to actually finish the demon ruins and lost izalith sections. Plus a real witch of izalith boss fight AFTER the bed of chaos.
@@jeremybk54 demon is heavily unbalanced towards magic damage.
@@jeremybk54
Demon's Souls better split the RPG paths than Dark Souls.
@@TheNinjaDC ds1 has the best balancing. Everything is viable. Magic strength dex faith you name it

i'm a noob to demon's souls and i loved the remake. your rankings match mine pretty closely, however the real #1 hardest boss is the run to the old hero. i went pure melee since it's almost always what i do in souls games, and i actually thought i would never make it to that boss. it took me so many tries just to get to the boss fog that i'm not at all ashamed to admit i looked up the strategy for the boss itself so i'd never have to subject myself to that torture again 😂
For maneater I needed like 4-5 tries, if you can kill the first one quickly, it's a lot easier, and if you fight in the center you won't risk falling down
I beat the original ps3 version a few days ago and we literally had the exact same experience lol. Allant was easy but fuck flamelurker
Depends on which NG+ you're on I think. On max NG+ every boss is a joke compared to Flamelurker and Maneater Allant isn't even close to being close to being close.

I went into the Old King Gallant fight blind, having never gotten to him in the original demon's souls. He destroyed me three or four times in a row, making me think he was a truly challenging boss. Then I realized that all you need to do is stay medium to long range, let him do his dash attack, dodge it and hit him in the back a few times. There is literally no danger fighting him this way since you only have to contend with one attack.
yeah that was my experience too, but it's still a fun and fair fight compared to some trashy boss that you dont even have to figure out because it is so obvious
Maneater did take me the most tries outta all the other bosses tho i killed him way easier in the OG 💀

I love how each boss in Demons Souls has a "gimmick" that you need to figure out to beat it. Reminds me of old school games like Ocarina of Time
Yeah! I love this game’s boss roster for that. I understand why gimmick bosses have more or less died out in modern souls games, but they’re always a favorite of mine. Demon’s Souls has some real gems

Heyyyyy! I’ve been waiting for this! Great vid, DeMod, keep this amazing content up!
I think the Penetrator was easy. I did sweat a bit, but my trick was to check on which side he's rising his sword. If he raises it on his right, he's gonna do a delayed attack. If it's on his left, it's a fast one.
Why is it whenever someone mentions Storm King no one mentions the broken house you can use as cover?
The squeak toy noises during the old monk fight was so disrespectful 😂😂😂😂😂
I like to think that all the new ost tracks you used in the background are the ones you liked, I get why people don’t like it, but it honestly sounds so good I can’t hate it

Allant: “I’m gonna have to stop you right there.”

I killed him 1 attempt as a mage🤔
I quite enjoyed the “I threw it on the ground” throwback
I fully believe that armored spider is that difficult, but when I got to it my arachnophobia kicked in, I was GRIPPING my controller so tight and somehow managed to beat it first try. Thank fucking god for that I mighta quit if i had to do it twice 😭
I fought the Flame Lurker, Dragon God, and Man Eater as my 3rd, 5th, and 6th bosses in this game...... No wonder it felt so unfair, I was definitely fighting them too early
Love how he uses the leechmonger spot to literally make a guide for players meeting demons souls by the remaie
I finished the game with the moonlight faith build.

imo the EASIEST way to solve the issue is to add a high platform after you enter the fog gate where you then drop down to the actual boss fight similar to the adjudicator from demon's souls, this would help solve a bunch of issues:
- it is presented as an actual puzzle instead of a mad dash to the staircase
- you get to survey the scene first before actually initiating
- you get a safe space to test out countermeasures to see which works and which doesn't
If you don't want to change the design layout too much (or if you think this would make it too easy or too cheesable with firebombs), another thing you could do is to make the hallway a bit longer so that you don't get charged on frame one by both the capra and the dog when you haven't even regained visibility.
Never clicked so goddamn fast in my life !!!!
You can pull the skellies in 4-1 one by one which makes them way easier to handle. And then the 2nd Vanguard demon can be lured into the pit to cheese him real quick.
U can also git gud
Gotta say, I found the Armor Spider extremely tough. Granted, this is my first time playing DS but sometimes dodging the webs can be tricky and the fireballs can wreck your shit.
There is a pillar in this boss fight...just equip magic ring that generates mp...also magic sword on left hand..that's it..cheesy boss fight
