Love your caring comments so calmly said and easy to digest. Then you present your recipe that looks mouthwateringly delicious, and being homemade rules!
I am so glad you are bringing light to the horrible situation of sugar processing on the United States. Thank you for increasing the awareness!! You rock :)
Well , you may want to use one part of starch , one part of flover , two parts of coco powder , 2 tea spoons of powdered sugar . Then no stripe then . Good recipe .
I read somewhere that Domino sugars produced in some of their factories on the east coast aren't processed with bone char. So just be mindful of WHERE (if using Domino sugar) it was produced. I suggest reaching out to Domino to confirm which factories don't use the bone char processing method.
Hi, Gretchen. Your vegan Oreo cookies look simply delicious. I'd love to see you make vegan multi-colored cookies with red, orange, yellow, green, blue, violet, lavender, and bright pink. Just 30 more days until my 30th birthday on April 19.
Gretchen, they look great!! I always wanted to know what was the difference of vegan sugar I figure it was processed differently but now that you shared this fact that is really disturbing oh my gosh. That's like the bug juice with the Junior mints yuck!!
Gretchen you’re looking great! You looks so healthy and happy! Honestly, you look like you lost weight as well not that you needed to, you just look it.. but anyway, this recipe looks great! My next dessert to bake!
thank you! and thanks for noticing! It's been near impossible to lose a pound, but I actually lost 4 but it's been very restrictive :( I committed to a month of this, so hopefully I can get myself back into better habits, all the cake and cookies got out of control LOL
Look at labels! Sustainable palm oil is available globally now (I think). Our perspective is collectively changing. I am plant based, that doesnt stop others from adding animal stock to my soup or cheese on my salad. I know what I want this world to be for everyone and I am doing what I can to make the shift in perspective comfortable... by making familiar foods, only healthier. I love watching your vids!

awesome thanks so much and you are looking beautiful. I am going to see if I can make a oreo mold so they look even more like the real deal. I get so angry when I see non sustainable palm oil in vegan products
Hey thanks! No I have made my own before, but don't make a habit of it. There are so many recipes out there that have done it, I didn't think anyone needed another one from me LOL :D
Hey Gretchen ! I remember coming across this video 2 years ago and tried making this and it was THE BEST ! I want to try to bake this again this week ! I remember last time the filling was rlly sweet ! Can I reduce the sugar ? For the cookie base, can I use solid coconut oil for butter and stevia for confectionery sugar ? Thanks ❤ subbed
Hey thanks exclamation I’ve tried to reduce the sugar in the cookie recipe and have also used coconut sugar in the past because there’s so few ingredients in the recipe it’s difficult to substitute or take an amount out. Your shortbread cookie will be very dry and crumbly it’s not going to come together if you don’t use the full amount of sugar. I have used to be though but only half and half sugar. As for the sugar filling though you can adjust that to your liking that’s not really a big deal I believe the coconut oil should work as well
The first time I used this recipe it was perfect, then when I tried literally 6 times making it again it's just not the same 😭. They are so crumbly and turn to dust at the slightest touch. I don't understand what I'm doing differently because they weren't like that the first time :(. I tried switching to vegetable shortening rather than vegan butter, using a combination, only using vegan butter, adding a tiny bit of water , adding more flour, adding less flour, adjusted the sugar, and tried chilling the cookie dough before baking. I'm getting so frustrated and I don't know if you check RUclips comments but I figured I would ask if you might know why this is happening? 😥
Is there any alternative for fat (flavorless oil or maybe vegetable shortening) ? Since I can't find vegan butter that easily on my country... The measurements would remain the same?
I guess you didn't "get" the irony of my joke, which was actually on me. Talking about being environmentally aware with all the ingredients we use, then I used plastic. Lighten up, you'll live longer.
Yes good idea, I also tried that and it still stuck slightly :( but give it a go! From Earth Balance website: Earth Balance fully supports the production of certified sustainable palm oil. @@GretchensVeganBakery hey ! Thanks for the reply ! Is it impossible to use stevia in this case ?
I remember when in US oreos had "beef fat" in. Can i do this with my food processor?
yes it would be fine to process it!
I understand about sugar and the process that makes it non vegan. I'm curious what process is for confectioners sugar.
I believe it's the same for confectioners sugar. There are vegan options though. :)

Can I make these vanilla oreos by leaving out the cocoa powder?
yes
im just here because i dont want to get cholesterol from butter lolol
LOL Hey great to have you!
Is there any alternative for fat (flavorless oil or maybe vegetable shortening) ? Since I can't find vegan butter that easily on my country...
The measurements would remain the same?
You could use shortening or margarine that is essentially what vegan butter is anyway, Yes same measurements
How do you know whether the sugar you use in your baking is processed through bone char or not?
You don't unless you call the company, and Oreo has stated they DO USE BONE CHAR (here in the USA)
Can i use not vegan flour?I am not vegan
Is there any way to use something else than butter for the filling? :(
you can use coconut cream as well. :)
Can this be done with gluten free flour 1to 1 baking? I ask because substitution doesn’t always work.
Hey there, I am not a GF baker, some have told me my recipes work great with a gf 1:1 mix, but I have not tried it here so Im not 100% sure!
Gretchen's Vegan Bakery Thank you.
Can I use gluten free flour?
While I am not a GF baker, I have been told that my recipes work great with a 1:1 GF blend. I cannot verify this though first hand
lmao not the plastic! say it aint so! 😋

🤩 lol,
Technically not here in the US since the sugar that they use is processed through animal bone char. 🤷🏻♀️
Oreos are already freaking vegan
Yes! I said that in the video! Consider that some people may like to make their own, how about that!!?? LOL
But thanks for playing anyway ...
Trust American to process sugar through and animal product 🤦♀️ thank God I live in Australia where we don't do that kind of weird shit
