Three men and a baby (stroller)! I knew the minute I saw it that it would break down so watching you three try to get it out was hysterical!! As my husband says (who’s amazing at any kind of problem solving), ‘always look at the thing you’re trying to move to see if/how flexible it can be….’

The mixed up things in the boxes makes perfect sense. She shopped every consignment shop, charity store, yard sale, estate sale, and church sale in a week. After that she brought it took it home packed it up as she found it for her yard or garage sales that she had maybe every 3 months. But the things bought way out numbered anything sold. Then she forgot what she had and bought more.

I can suddenly see that everything IN boxes is actually double the work... open box, look through, sort into other boxes.
Instead of, see and sort in one like with the other two homes.
This is quite the challenge compared to that, but I bet the furniture alone will get you your money back. I hope there's a good extra cheque on top of that for all of your efforts.

Those movies are in a format called Capasitance Electronic Disc(CED). They were introduced DURING the height of the VHS/BETA War and died fairly quietly. They are a type of vinyl record that loads into a player like an 8-track. You'd have to eject and flip the cartridge over after an hour to continue watching whatever movie it was.
The only reason I know this is back when I was first starting out, a roommate bought a player and about a dozen movies at a garage sale for $15. Longer movies were double disc and the picture quality was great on the right TV.

I guess that was sort of what they eventually did, though it would be more accurate to say they took the bassinet off of the frame. That was how it was designed to be used. We would take the top part off of the frame and set it into the back seat of the car with the baby sleeping inside, toss the frame into the trunk or back of the station wagon, and drive home.
Car seats weren't a thing back then.

I would not make the assumption that the owners of this home and these things never enjoyed them, in fact I’d argue that they likely had great fun at auctions, estate sales, garage sales etc buying what they thought was something of particular interest and possibly something they felt was going to increase in value some day. It’s been mentioned a few times that it would appear the last owners of the home were no longer living there, there was on,y one bed uncovered and it was buried deep under a mountain of things. So, the house really had become a giant temperature controlled warehouse to house their treasures. While for most the site of all this “clutter” is anxiety inducing, for others this actually brought comfort and a sense of well being and pride that they were able to collect such a large collection of things. I have no idea of this families background but I draw upon my own experiences with a Step Mother who was a hoarder and several family members who have a shopping addiction. The folks who were buying these things were enjoying the buying and looking and bidding and winning something they felt held great value, like that beast thing in the garage. Anyway ...just another POV.

Alexander, you and Patrick are doing a great job! It is always great to have a Josh with you!:-) I am glad your family jewels are intact and not even holes in the jeans. Lucky you! Sleeping on a water bed is interesting. One little move and the whole bed moves. You get use to it. Keep up the great work!

    Hey Alex,
    Love your videos!
Top Tip, if you put things like that bar stool and good lumber in the front yard with a free sign someone will take it, and you won't be sending perfectly good things to the dump. Or paying to haul it away.
I've moved over 30 times in my life, trust me it will be gone within 24hrs. Especially lumber...

Not laserdiscs. CEDs. Basically they are movies on vinyl records that play via a special stylus. The plastic shell protects the record when you slot it into the player and leaves the record inside when you pull the case out. Not a perfect summary but they were an interesting technology). Horror titles sell well so people can get them signed at fan conventions.

My Mom had the peacock wall hanging and a clock exactly like the ones you found. I also remember a a baby sitting in a pram exactly like that one as well, in the 60's. I knew they came apart because I used it for my dolls later on in years.
