Very opportunistic unintentionally as I was in a bad place at the time I received the call and figured I need to handle this problem on being confronted with unbeknownst to me they had ill intention. PS - kinda off topic, but it makes me feel terrible for legit call center workers sometimes. I worked as a supervisor for 3 years in a US based call center for Gieco insurance. We had one rep, really nice and funny guy, who had a very heavy Indian accent. I always felt terrible for him when he had to make outbound calls because people automatically assumed it was scam based on his voice alone. Some would just immediately hang up on him, others would call him racial slurs or cuss him to heaven and back. I have noticed that a lot of new adults (18-23) find themselves the victims of similar scams lately as well as those over 60-65 yrs today.
      It is hard for many honest hard working people to automatically be suspicious of people they have never met, because who wants to go around feeling like everyone is out to get you. It's depressing. However there are many low lives out there that lack the capacity for empathy as well as a moral compass. That being a fact it's always best to "Trust but Verify".

      I'm sorry about where you're from. Other than the generational inbreeding, lack of fresh water, legal rapes, selling humans out for chemical plants, it seems that the existence of the internet was one of the last nails in the coffin of what was already a failing society (at least in the cities). Yeah it's remote connection software, anyone can do it at any time and it's also used for good purposes. Scammers use it coz it's the quickest and easiest to hand over control of your computer

    • @richtersundeen6105
      @richtersundeen6105 2 года назад

      Best way to think of it is it's like a vampire: you have to invite it in. The scammers had him download software so they could access his computer remotely...but he can use that same connection to access theirs remotely. Scammers just assume their core audience, technophobic 80-somethings, won't try to use that.
