- My full honest review/experience with CarMax Fort Lauderdale Dealership where I bought my car. I mostly have good things to say but with one bad thing. This video is for anyone who may be considering buying a car from CarMax. I talk about their transparency, car selection, customer service, warranty (like MaxCare) and more.

Use the 24-hour test drive period to get the car to your mechanic for them to check it out thoroughly. Very important!
That’s why they have 30 day returns.
@@matthewf8268 Why not determine before you purchase that you really want it? It saves you the hassle of having to return it.
I agree
blks too emotional for all that
You have 10 days to return the vehicle for a full refund
As someone who works at carmax I don’t get why people buy a 7 year old bmw and expect it to be trouble free , or people buy a car from snow states expecting them to be pristine lol , always check cars history and where it came from carmax isn’t going to tell you that car is from Washington unless you ask
Better yet, during the 24-hour test drive period, take the car to your mechanic to have him check it out thoroughly. I did this, and the mechanic came up with a long list of things wrong with the car. So glad I didn't buy that car.
Yes, people like to complain. Honestly, carmax is a decent place. It's not perfect, but I think if you just want a car and a quick, easy experience, then it's worth it.
I went to Carmax in Pennsylvania I was in and out in two hours got a Ford Mustang v6 2015 💪🏽🙌🏻 no hassle and I definitely took the warranty

Thanks for sharing your experience with Carmax and getting straight to the point! 👍🏾This is something that I go back and forth about...Whether to just deal with a no-hassle process or pushy salesmen..lol. Some people don't mind playing the negotiating game but me, I personally would rather do without it. Salesmen always have an end-game..lol
Bro this! I went to 5 dealerships this week, the experience SUCKED at all of them. Carmax might get my business on this alone.
He got straight to the point?
@@Suhhdew Yes he did. You apparently didn't watch the video. He's lists all the positives and goes straight to the one negative.
A no haggle price is just code for a jacked up price.
@@kristin1533 Yes, Carmax will have a higher MSRP but at the end of the day, if someone really wants a specific car off the lot (specific model, trim, specs, mileage, etc), paying the extra on the price won't really bother them at all because in the end, they are getting what they want...lol. This is what people fail to realize. You'd be surprised at how many people would rather sacrifice paying a higher price tag on a car (that they really want) over playing the back and forth numbers game with a pushy salesman. Some people just prefer an easy, no surprises, get straight to the point process.
I had no hassle at Carmax. Everything you just said about them is same thing I have experienced in Dallas. However, the moment I drove off 2017 car off the lot, my engine light came on. I took it back the next day and wanted to give them a chance. After almost 5 hours of waiting they told me they fixed it. My light came back on in 8 days again. I actually returned the car back to them. Not gonna hassle like this .
You could have taken it to any reputable dealer and carmax would have paid for it... Literally took my car to toyota because it had a waterpump and radiator issue. $1600 worth of repairs I only had to pay $50.
Everything you said about carmax was great, even the no negotiations because that lets you know their commissions aren’t as inflated as other dealerships; transparency as you said. I’m glad it worked for you; this is good info, I’ll stop by in the future.
2 vehicles from carmax so far will be getting my third next month ! Maxcare warranty is worth it.
How much is it for maxcare
I bought 3 vehicles from them, great experience from them each time. Good rates as well.
It is what it is. CarMax, like JD Byrider and others, specializes in buyers with lower credit, and they take full advantage of it. They are so much better than Carvana or Byrider that it isn't even close. Good review.
That was a great video! I actually work at Carmax in Richmond Va. Glad to hear you had a good experience!
Thanks for this video and your experience! I was on the edge of thinking about purchasing a vehicle there. I know my answer now about it.
I'm very happy with Carmax, bought a 2017 Nissan rogue for my daughter very easy in and out in about 2 hours no hassle they made me very happy customer, will buy again.
You paid thousands more...hope it's worth it.
@@carlstallins1285 I don't think so I got a fair price compare to what the Nissan dealer wanted.

My mother in law paid more for her Dodge got ripped off
Cause she bought a dodge lol. Trash
I went to car max north Austin TX... love their business and customer services... very friendly and no hassle at all.
I traded my Toyota rav4 2010 with very great deal and took the Honeda CRV 2021... I had 1 month or 1400miles free trial... I then returned and got 2021 rav4 XLE for $36k with $1.3k for 75miles or 5 year extended warranty.. loved my car.. Definitely recommend to other buyers
In contrast from new vehicle vs used vehicle is paying $4,000 - $5,000 less - Would it be better to get new vehicle? Some cars are like 2 years old in carmax lot. Kinda hard to decide new or used. Thanks for sharing 👍
I didn't know about the 24 test drive. Wish I did because after several months I found that my car did not have a spare tire, tire holder, or jack. The salesman did do the walk around, but how many people lay down on the ground to see if there is a spare tire, and I trusted the salesman when he said the jack was behind the panel in the back of the van even though he and I could not remove (found out that it was not removable). Where the jack should have been was a air pump and that green tire repair goop)
I agree Carmax has the best customer service than the dealership.
The sell their vehicles for less then few thousand then other dealers do, it makes sense of why they will not negotiate.
Great video with great info! CarMax is the shit! I bought a 2019 burgundy-colored Chrysler 300, not quite a year ago, from the CarMax in Naples, Fl. Everything you said in your video is true. If you don’t want a new car, get a newer car from these guys. You won’t be disappointed. Enjoy that bitchin’ Camaro, player!
😂🤣😂😂 bet you over payed.
The Dodge dealership would've been cheaper.
@@carlstallins1285 Actually, no Dodge dealer in the vicinity was less expensive, and since I didn’t say what I paid, all you can do is assume, but if you enjoy going through life uninformed, knock yourself out.
@@Whiteboybeats1968 he is basing his assumption on facts though. They have a history or overpricing their cars when you could get the same brand new car from a dealership for a couple grand more with a better warranty than CarMax privides
Good Morning Nigel. First off thank you for your insight especially for someone like me who’s nervous about buying a car because I don’t have the best credit myself. This just put me at ease a little and I appreciate the breakdown and your experience with Car Max. 🙏🏾
Going in Monday to test drive a ram 1500. 24 hour test drive is nuts. They also have done decent extended warranty. The downside is if your car has more miles on it you will reach 150,000 a lot sooner. But most carmax cars have under 100k miles.
Hi Nigel, first off I keep forgetting to mention your intro, it’s awesome! Love the music and of course the vid portion showing your car. Great info on Carmax. It’s where I found my Camaro too. Overall good experience and I would buy from them again. High blue book on my 2017 but she’s in near perfect condition with low miles. I’ve already started replacing any parts that have minor scratches, I’m very picky. I installed my dash cover today. Looks amazing. I received my custom SS floor mats a week ago. I have the “mud guard” trims that I’ll be putting on next weekend hopefully. So much fun. I have one question, do you still love your Camaro now as much as you did when you first got it? Just curious because I think I love mine more every single day. Very addicting bad a*s cars. 😁
Thanks for all the love and support CamaroSSqueen! Appreciate you. I absolutely do love it as much as when I got it! Never a dull moment! 😎
Do you have an instagram or something where you have pics of yours?
Good video. Do they give you 30 days to return it if you are not happy?
" 30 days (up to 1500 miles)" Also, "limited warranty covers your vehicle's major systems for 90 days or 4,000 miles". Quoted stuff form their website.
Thank you 4 sharing. Very interesting information. I did not know they use a no-haggle business model. You mentioned an extended warranty and you added a very small adder to your payment. Can you purchase the warranty outright and if so did they offer you a total price for the warranty?
Again, thank you for your video 🙂
You knocked it out the park bro. Makes me feel comfortable going there
It's seems like all the vehicles I'm interested in are on the other side of the country so I have to shell out $500 to $2000. I went to a lot to walk a bit and they had other similar MVs on site. Is that intentional? Also what bugs me a bit is that they say " No major dents or dings". Do they have minor dents, dings and deep scratches? I'm sure I'm going with carmax but carvana does show you imperfections. $1500 to pay for shipping and the mv is scratched to crap. Part of the problem is I don't like buy cars period. Whats the point of going to the dealer? For me its just to kick the tires.
He's right i use to work for a dealership and when we run your credit the banks will give different options and the big dealership will always try to give you the highest so they make more money. Its all about profit when CarMax and Carvana just try to make a little profit. Also if your trying to sale or trade in your vehicle try Carvana before the big dealerships rip you off. Carvana will almost always offer you more money for instants once a guy had a 2012 Charger RT with 68k miles the big dealership said $9k and Carvana gave him $14500k and you know they was making a little money. Just shows you how much the big dealerships rip you off. Never let the dealerships pressure you to sale to them just walk away.
I will now seriously consider Carmax. Thanks for review.

Man to me Carmax is the shit. A1 when it comes to used dealerships I won't buy nowhere else. First of all they will only will sell clean A1 used cars. If the tires wipers or so are bad they will replace them with A1 parts. Not sure if they still do but my Aunt used to work for NAPA and carmax used to get their parts from them she said they would only order top of the line. If I'm buying used yeah I only fw Carmax
Has anyone had to print your bank statements off of their computer to prove income vs print In your own physical paystubs? The last 2 times I was in there. The rep stood over my shoulder asking to log into my bank on their public computer. Every other person I've seen has not had to do this.
People are getting so bad with making fake check stubs that probably why
Yes, we did this today, it was horrible, not just bank statements, but everything. We were there almost 7 hours. They were nice and my son got his car, but oh what a pia I have never in my 58 years went through this much bs. Easier to buy a house.

Great video. Right now I am having a 2016 Lexus GX350 sent from another dealer for free. Will see what happens on my trade in (2018 Kia Stinger GT) if I can make the deal work. If not, I will walk.
That stinger is wayyyy better than that gx350...why u wanna trade that?? Unfair trade..
@@lawnside82 Here is the deal with that Stinger. Within in one week of having the car, I noticed the paint on the hood was coming off. It took two weeks for them to fix that. Around six months later on vacation, the rotors went out. I looked at Kia Stinger forums and this was a known issue with other owners. Kia payed for this to be fixed. And then around a year later, the rotors went out again. Kia would not pay for this repair and the dealer tried to sell me things for the car that did not need to be replaced. I took the car and had the rotors replaced at a tire shop that informed me of the dealer trying to rip me off. Then there is long term reliability. Great now, but what about down the road? After dealing with the incompetence of my dealer, and the issues with the car, it had to go. Fun to drive? Yes! I ended up getting a 2016 Lexus GS350 F Sport. That car, when properly maintained, will last a lot longer than the Kia. Funny thing, is I got a recall notice from Kia to have the rotors replaced a couple of weeks ago.

I have bought two cars from Carmax from two different locations. The buying process was buttery smooth. But the cars they sell are horrible. Unfortunately I will not be back. My preowned Chevy Impala from a regular Dealerships was more reliable than my two Toyota Camry's from Carmax
Just do your research and make sure you read the fine print!
But are your payments high ?? Like past 400 because I plan on getting a 2017 Dodge Durango and don’t have the best credit
honestly, wish they carry brand new cars i like how they run the business
How much does the 5 year warranty costs
That depends on the car you purchase

And they give you Carmax care for like 90 days
CarMax employees split the commission that's why they're not trying to push you to buy a car because sell , or no sell they still make money.
Carmax employees are 100 percent based commissions. If you come in and spend 2 hours with them and don’t buy anything, they get 0 money.
Yes. True that! CarMax is 1) Transparent NO LYING, NO B.S. and no sales doubletalk. 2) Not pushy 3) Very wide selection of cars including super low miles on 2022 vehicles 4) Very honest, positive and helpful for my needs. 5) I had NO upsells, Why? Because I found a NEW car at MSRP for 3K less for the low miles used 2022 so I bought that one. 6) The No negotiation gave me the option of finding a NEW 2022 at a lower price. It is their loss and not mine but I am not upset about it. It is what it is. I am a cash buyer but I HATE liars and most salesmen who forget to tell the truth. CarMax helped m by saving me LOTS of money stress and hassles on my trade-in. When I arrived at CarMax I fully intended to buy from them. I was actually referred by another car dealer who told me that he bought his cars wholesale from CarMax. A CarMax technician came out to test drive and look at my car., He gave me a CarMax voucher that could be used for cash from CarMax or as a down payment for any car that I selected. It allowed me 7 days for cash or trade in. While comparing prices with other dealers I told the other dealers about my voucher. When I decided on the car I want a manufacturers Dealer let me use the Voucher for down payment as long as l showed them my pink slip and let them drive the car. That took less than 5 minutes! I wrote a check for the balance. But it gets better. One week driving my new 2022 car, I got a letter from the NHTSB that my old car 2015 was just recalled! I guess that problem now belongs to CarMax. If you like recalls buy a Ford, Kia or Ram.
