- Carvana and Carmax are the 2 most convenient places to buy a car from today. But what is the difference between the two? Well, I bought a car from both to find out, I documented the experience just for you. I hope this helps if you were trying to decide between the two companies and choose the right one for you.

Last year I bought a car from Carmax. I researched vehicles and knew exactly what I wanted and could afford, and usual prices. I did most of the paperwork over the phone from home. The car was shipped in 2 days. I drove it, inspected it and bought it. Paperwork took 10 minutes. Car was sparkling clean and had a full gas tank. I'm very happy.
Probably paid 2k over retail
Thanks! Looking at them. Glad for your feedback
@@quickerticker7901 cheaper is always not best. Choices are important too.
Carvana is better or autonation 💯😎
The make, model, and year I’m considering is actually less expensive at CarMax than at the dealership. My spouse and I went to a local dealership a couple weekends ago, and they kept us there nearly four hours with empty promises to answer our questions, in the meantime trying to show us vehicles that we repeatedly said we weren’t interested in. Even if we were to pay more at CarMax, it would be worth it to avoid the stupid pressure tactics and to choose from the wide inventory to get EXACTLY what we want.
You had to do more paperwork at CarMax because you were signing all of the paperwork required by the state to register your vehicle. CarMax went to the DMV to register on your behalf, which is why the license plates were sent to you directly. Carvana did not have you sign paperwork, which is why you had to go to the DMV yourself, and why there was less to sign at Carvana. It doesn’t really have anything to do with CarMax being an older company, they just make the overall process of buying a car easier in the long run.
facts
I bought my truck from Carvana and they mailed my plates and registered to me.
I bought a car through Carvana and they did everything for me. They mailed me the plates.
They mailed me my plate. I didn’t have to go to the DMV
@@jordenfoster5173 Good info. I live in Harris County (Houston) and have absolutely zero interest in going to get registration for the plates & sticker myself. That place is horrible.
All of that research and you bought 2 Fiats?
🤣🤣🤮🤔
I know right, doesn’t say much about credibility.
No wonder it was half the price
Really. Went and got a Fix It Again Tony.
Hahaha my thoughts exactly
I bought from Carvana. Not sure why you had to go get your tags. My tags were mailed to my house. Great overall experience, and super easy paperwork. I was in the process of rebuilding my credit, so I started with in-house financing at. 10.25%. Just refinanced with Capital One for 6.4%. No, it's not the super low rates, but it's better after barely 6 months of owning the vehicle. Damn Timeshare.
(Update) With 39 months remaining on my 72 month auto loan I refinanced again with AAA and gotna rate of 2.99% AND shaved 3 months off of my loan. With a little bit of discipline and dedication to cleaning up my credit it is absolutely possible to change your situation.
Carvana makes money giving sub prime loans and reselling them. Most dealers do but carvana tries to make most of their profits there.
@@jenibarra385 I guess the major point is know what you're getting into before you agree to the terms. If they are not agreeable go with another company such as Vroom or Carmax. As you said everyone is out to make money. Just get the best rate possible and consider refinancing when your(not you specifically) credit improves. In a perfect world I would tell everyone to get pre-approved through their bank/credit union and compare those rates to what's being offered with the in house financing.
I can't believe the number of people trashing his decision to buy Fiats? Good grief people, if you don't like Fiats, DON'T buy one. He obviously likes Fiats. I've been shopping Carvana, Car Max and Vroom for the past few weeks looking for a Grand Cherokee Overland and I'm hearing the same stuff. "I can't believe you want a Jeep, they're a POS, get a Four Runner". Anyway, good run down on the two companies.
Thank YOU. No car is perfect and if you know and understand what maintenance it needs you can make most cars work just fine. So many of these guys are going off just how well it sells or what they knew about the brand in the 70s lol
I know, the vehicle is not the point
Lmao that's what I hear with my 2020 Durango. The ZF 8 Speed Transmission is one of the best in the world and it rides on a Mercedes Chasis still just like the jeeps up to 2022 and it's great. The vehicle rides and feels totally refined as well after 9 years of this generation. But people in GM Crossovers and Trucks that all have nothing but problems these days, or even dudes in Broncos that are having issues as well being New will laugh at me where I live.
4 runners are pieces of shit lol.
They flip just as easily as a jeep and their mpg is horrific

I’ve purchased my last car through Carmax but i decided to purchase a car with Carvana because of there 7 day return and money back guaranteed. That said, in my opinion it was the best experience I ever had! the fastest purchase I ever made on a car! Trick is go to a dealership and try a car you like and then purchaser it through Carvana.
Well said
That’s what I did. I got my car with 8k miles 😊
Carmax offers a 30 day money back guarantee (up to 1,500 miles). I tried Carvana. My experience was not positive. Made me feel I cannot trust their process and/or knowledge. We decided to say, thanks but no thanks. Will take our business elsewhere.
Carmax had a 30 day money back guaruntee… much longer than 7 days…
If you live in the SF area of CA check out the Carvana Car Vending Machine!! It's crazy!!
Carvana more than carmax makes their real profits from the high interest rate. Car loans up to 72 mos with good credit are at 3-5%. 10% is what my credit card charges. 10% for car payment is a rip-off or financial slavery or shareholder profit. I bought a car from carmax with a loan from my bank at 3.3, carmax offered 6% and they hated that I brought my own finance. All the dealer profits are made on finance and insurance. The payment for a $30k car at 10% vs 3 is $130-150 more. Insane!!!!
Carvana was started by the sharks at Drive Time
I worked at carmax for 5 years. We don’t care where you get financing. As a sales consultant I didn’t get paid any more if my customer paid cash, financed with us or financed elsewhere.
And then factor in that the sales tax and registration fees were INCLUDED in the loan at 10% interest! Basically giving them hundreds, possibly thousands more, just so they would give you a check to take to the DMV.
Hey, anyone wanna give me $1700? I'll give you back a check for $1000...
A fool and his money....
I bought a car from Carvana and financed it through them for less hassle, though I knew their interest rates were higher. I refinanced a month later with a different credit union.
Bullshit! I have a 665 fair credit score and the scam artists at CarMax quoted me $275.77 per month for 72 months on an $8998 car at 28.99% interest!!! I was pissed. That is nearly $20k total for the life of the loan
CarMax lots are loaded with lemons with accident history on many of them. Bought a CarMax car 3 years ago with 2 reported accidents (my credit wasnt great at the time and they would only offer me accident reported vehicles to choose from), complained about a vibration after my test drive, even the Toyota dealership couldn’t fix it and gave it back to me. So I was stuck in a 2012 Camry that vibrated heavily at idle for 3 years, and had to shift the automatic transmission into neutral at every red light to make the vibration stop. Ask for the CarFax on every CarMax car before you start financing talk. Also, CarFaxes are only as accurate as what the owner reports. Carvana discovered the CarFax lied on a car they were going to sell and found bent frame damage on it that was not reported and rejected it from their retail inventory. Carvana doesn’t deliberately offer cars with accident history like CarMax does.
Thank you for posting this
Sounds like possible bad motor mounts.

We bought a 2018 GMC Terrain from Carmax, and the whole process couldn't have been easier. I still can't believe the amount they gave on our 2013 Ford Edge when we traded it in. It only took about 30 minutes and we were done signing papers. I've heard good and bad things about Carmax and Carvana, just like anything else in life
@STEVE VENTO That's a load of crap as far as all GMs. In my lifetime, I've owned a 65 Impala SS, a 71 Chevelle SS, a 73 El Camino, a 79 Z28, an 85 Silverado, a 79 Vette, an 87 IROC Z28, an 87 Vette Convertible, a 2009 Saturn, and most recently the Terrain, which has been very dependable, has great power, and is nice to drive. Out of ALL those GM products, only the 79 Vette was a money pit. Fitting that it was yellow
When I picked up my car from Carvana in Florida they asked me to take the car for a drive for as long as I wanted, to make sure I was happy before I signed my paper work.
Good to know!
Yup I drove that puppy across the nation including some Vegas deserts. Then dropped it back off no cost

Carmax has a 30 day test drive. You can return the car after 30 days.
@@jaysmith179 I find that hard to believe.
Carmax is a fairly easy process to purchase a vehicle. In my experience it was no stress & no pressure at all. The sales representative is very mindful in conducting business with thier clients. I believe thats makes them so unique. Really wish that purchasing brand new vehicles was like this from major car dealerships. Challenging part of carmax is finding a vehicle that has your desired mileage.
Thanks for this. Definitely leaning towards using one of these services. I've had terrible experiences with multiple dealerships and just don't even want to do that again. Good to see someone's perspective on this. Thought buying a car would be fun and it has been some of the worst experiences buying anything.
I agree I thought car buying would be fun . It’s horrific and no one wants to help
I just sold my car to carvana 13500 and carmax wanted to get me 11000 . I got the whole quote I was very happy
Because of medical problems I had to quit work and my credit took a nose dive, but within 30 minutes I had applied for credit, chose my car and bought it, with no down payment, then they delivered it but we didn't like the way it drove so they took it back. Will I buy from Carvana again...........YOU BET.
Broke person mentality
Sounds like you didn’t actually buy the first time
Great Video! Thank you so much for sharing your experience with us
Bought with Carvana. They gave me an insane trade in price for my old car...like 2500 more than ANY other dealer would do and have had no issues with the process
I can’t figure out their trade in values. If I go online and put the details in on my car it comes up with $10613 if I tell it about the accident it’s been in. (It was minor. I got side swiped and the fender had to be repainted) but if I say no accidents they come up with $19162. It’s worth maybe $1000 less due to accident history; not $8500.
@@narebman I can answer this if you care. This could be because carvana has a strict policy that they will not sell any vehicle that has been in any wreck retail. So if your car has been in any wreck even if it was minor they will sell it wholesale which is why they value it much lower.

Regardless of who you buy from, have your car inspected unless you know how to do it yourself - just because they do a 150 point inspection doesn't mean anything. 2 CarMax BMW's have been a flop for me. First one with 25k miles had no accident reported. Upon my final inspection before signing, I noticed the car had paint work. Did not buy. Second one was 3 years old with only 7k miles and damage reported to rear only on the carfax I ran. Decided to look at the vehicle anyway. Paintwork in the front, paintwork in the rear, side, misaligned trunk/headlight gap, all the wheels curbed (touched up), rocker panels scratched as if the car ran something over and more. Moral of the story, if you are picky LOOK at your car fully or pay to have it inspected properly.
Carmax should have given you their famous bumper to bumper warranty.
Its kinda hard to buy a used BMW without some sort of problem. They run problem free for about 2-4 years then its a fast slide down hill. This is why the 2nd hand market is always flooded with used BMWs.
Thanks for the video. Great info! I’m from Texas but lived in Tempe. It’s pronounced “Tem-Pee”. I got corrected a lot. 😂
Yeah someone else corrected me on it too 😂 I had a feeling I'd get it wrong but with English spelling it's always risky lol
The only valid comparison for interest rate comparison, is if YOU had applied for financing from both places.
I brought a car from Carvana and they are the best. Best experience I have ever had buying a car.
I want to get one but im scared something will mess up.
CarMax also offers a 90 day bumper to bumper warranty and also a protection plan of 5 years and up to 150k miles on every car they sell.
Never buy warranties. They are useless and a rip off. They always find a reason why the part needing fixing is not covered. They are for suckers
@Jerry Briggs i agree ive bought 3 dealer warranties and when it came to sale those cars i forgot i even had those coverages because i never needed them but i can cover my own missing dip stick and loose gas cap vs paying 2000 for something you wont use
Thanks for doing this video. I see a lot of comments about high APR which is kind of annoying. If you are building/repairing credit it's good to know what to expect. You can always refinance later.
A reasonable comment! Thank you! Lol
How do you refinance?
This was a great video and has good to know information in it. To me though I would go with Carmax because of their more traditional feel and methods vs. the seemingly gimmicky Carvana.
Shift is another place I have known to be a positive shopping experience!
Son, great video. You are a great presenter!! I purchased a 2012 Mini Cooper Countryman S from Carmax in Fairfield, CA. I paid cash so your financing situation was different. I purchased the car for $15,000. It seems theft is a big issue here. After completing all paperwork, I left to go to BOA and get a check certified for the full amt and brought it back to Carmax. I still cannot believe I had to go back on line to BOA, with the salesman standing behind me watching. I had to prove the money was just taken out and legitimate! Never ever in my 66 yrs on earth was I ever subjected to that! Good for Carmax I really liked the car.
Based on my experience, Carvana has quite a few things to iron out still. It was my first time using their services. Unfortunately, we ended the transaction with them. And we do not plan on using Carvana again any time soon.
I’ve been trying to give Carvana credit but they’ve rescheduled my delivery 4 times and overlooked things like broken ac and radio not working in their bs “150 point check” and their customer service has been the most useless help I’ve ever seen from a 100% online process.
Literally just left a review for these exact reasons. It's the harshest review I ever left lol
7:53 What you said:
"What they do is they take the tax, title, and registration fee and just lump it into the total cost of the car so that they can break it down into those even payments"
What you should have said:
"What they do is they take the tax, title, and registration fee and just lump it into the total cost of the car so that I am paying 10% interest on the fees as well as my car for the next 5 years"
Never lump those fees into your car purchase.
That is only true if your down payment is less than your “taxes, title, & etc.” If you are paying down more than that amount you can just think of it as you are paying your taxes now with you down payment instead of saving back some of your down payment to pay the fees later. Ie: $10,000 car with $1000 taxes; if your DP is $500 then yeah your are financing $500 extra but if your DP is $3000 then probably with a traditional experience you would DP $2000 and save $1000 for your DMV trip, either way you are financing $8000.
I wanted to pay the fees separate and carmaxx completely refused saying it was impossible to do.
Thank you for this I needed this 🥲
Damn, you got bad credit or what? Those were ridiculous APRs
No kidding. I got 4.99% APR on my last car loan with very good credit and I thought that was pretty high.

Thank you good sir! Worked pretty hard on this one.
I just bought a truck on Carvana, it was so much easier than buying at a dealer. There's no sales people what so ever, only customer service reps. Really have no complaints, the truck is in great shape and they delivered it with my plates, state inspection, and a full tank of gas. Also you can easily cancel an order if you reserve a vehicle and see something else a couple days later that you like more. 7 day returns, 100 day bumper to bumper and they offer pretty cheap extended warranties (service contracts).
About 8 years ago, I bough a vehicle from Carmax and it was a completely different story. Car was a lemon, terrible rate, sales people like any other dealer, bad experience.
I bought my Honda civic five years ago from carmax. It's great, just wish I didn't get the extended warranty. I barley used it.
Sold a car to Carvana. It too wsd very simple without haggling. Simply took some photos they came two days later put dow the check looked at it for 5 minutes signed some papers and away they went. Yes, I might've gotten a better deal selling on my own but I didn't have the patience to go through that experience. But got a good deal all in all.
Actually you probably wouldn't have gotten a better deal selling on your own, Carvana these days is offering right around what you'd get in a private party sale. They're making their money by charging above the retail market value for the cars and usury interest rates on loans.
You have to get your own tags, because they don't have a full local operation. Carmax has people to go to the registry, Carvana does not.
Lies! My tags was mailed to me!
Bought a 2005 Grand Jeep Cherokee several years ago from CarMax. Had 5 days to return for any reason and financed through them and had 3 days to get alternative financing which we did through credit union and even got lower rate on our other vehicle. Jeep was great vehicle and after owning the Jeep for 5 years gave it to my oldest daughter and three years ago and it is still going. I also sold a vehicle to CarMax and that was a seamless process. Never had dealings with Carvana and probably won’t as I like to touch and drive cars I buy.
Thank You. 🙂👍
Carvana will sell you a car with a salvage or rebuilt title so it makes sense that Carmax would take longer. If you are reading this and don't believe me try doing some research, they don't deny it.
would have been nice if you had posted a bullet list of your points for each company...sometimes it was hard to figure out which company you were talking about, because at times you seemed to be jumping back and forth, and at other times I was not sure AT ALL which company you were talking about.
Great, informative video.
Thank you very much!
Might as well tell my story, I was looking for a specific BMW and every one I wanted got sold right before I could go see the vehicle to purchase it. This happened with about 5 or 6 vehicles. My wife looked on Carvana and found a similar spec to what I was looking for so against my better judgment I said “just buy it, I’m tired of looking”. I live in Florida and the car came from Arizona in about 5 days. Truck pulls up, pulls the car into my driveway, the wife and I drove it around for about 20 mins and we signed the papers. I think we had a week or 500 miles (whichever came first) and if we wanted to return the car we could. To be completely honest, everything was in the condition they said it was and there were no surprises. The only regret I have from buying with Carvana is that I didn’t pick up my car from the vending machine. I do not regret buying from Carvana not one bit. Though to save time, I’d recommend doing a test drive at the dealership to make sure that’s the car you want and then buying from Carvana if they don’t give you a better price.
Great story! Thanks for sharing! As you can see the comments are rather split. Most only want to talk about APR or that Fiat is the worst blah blah blah, but thank you for bringing it back on topic!
Laplanet Arts 🤣, I went through the comments and almost forgot what this was about. I get Scotty and others have their loyalists but it ultimately comes down to how well you take care of your vehicles. I’ve had supposedly reliable vehicles be not so reliable and supposedly not so reliable vehicles be extremely reliable. I’ve got a 11 Cadillac SRX with almost 200,000 miles on it and it has never given me a single issue and I love Bimmers and that’s where I learned that you have to stay on top of your maintenance. Do your maintenance and don’t try to do things that you vehicle isn’t designed to do and you’ll be good.
Thank you! Honestly though, some may have different quirks, or more than others. But if you know what they are you can take care of them them before it's a problem. For example, the fiat 500L is a pretty good car. It has one quirk though with the way the timing belt is made. If the timing belt breaks it'll break a Lot inside the engine. Like a lot. But if you replace it every 70k or so that'll never happen and you should have nothing to really worry about other than your standard maintenance. The Fiat 500x is mechanically identical to the jeep renegade. They are the same. Fiat 500x is deemed unreliable because it's Fiat. And the scottie Kilmers that had a Fiat in the 70s remember the brand as is lol but it's Chrysler now for whatever that is worth. And the jeep renegade is the highest selling crossover for the last couple of years. Sooooooooooooo yeah. People jump on opinions as fact based off one misnomer or piece of information. Get the car that's right for you after educating yourself.
@@steaminbimmin2594 look everyone: someone who actually understands automotive things and doesn't take everything said on the internet as gospel (looking at your fans kilmer...) BMWs are awesome. I've never personally owned one but I've had several friends with them and the engineering/quality I'd say is close to the older Mercedes I own, which by Scotty's reccomendations should be some of the least reliable vehicles on the planet (turbocharged, diesel, Mercedes, cheap) but they have been great. Sure there are quirks and weird things where you wonder what the engineers were thinking, but if you take care of it, any car can last for a good long time. But like you guys were getting at, these people need to stop taking other peoples word on the internet as gospel and do some actual research into these vehicles.
Thank you for sharing. I am leaning towards Carvana as opposed to the traditional brick and mortar dealership. I hope the Carvana business model takes off and that there are similar startup companies that emulate that business models. I would be happy to see many of the traditional dealerships go out of business. Also, as of March 2022 and of writing this comment, I can see companies like Carvana really taking off as it ameliorates consumers like me having to go to a number of dealerships and have consumers compete against one another (& and not compete against the dealership) for a vehicle. This is truly the perfect storm of ingredients to see Carvana overtake CarMax as the preferred way of shopping in the next few years.
Ravi Peiris M.D.
I'm inclined to agree. I only just heard about Carvana a few days ago (since I'm going to start car-hunting soon) but I like the "No haggling" thing they seem to be pushing. Just fixed, up-front prices. Take it or leave it. The convenience of being able to do it from home is also very enticing.

Amazing video! It really helped us feel more comfortable purchasing online. Is the code in the description box still current for carvana?
The "no games straight forward process" you speak of, is, you resign yourself to paying the full list price. Always research the vehicle as to what you can resell it for immediately after purchase. Not necessarily that you want to resell, but as a way to determine its value.

Carvana is amazing. Im an old school car salesman and i can tell u Carvana is the future. You will see dealerships disappear in the next 10 years
Well, they certainly have amazingly high prices... so you pay a premium for the so called "convenience". They are publicly traded and haven't made money... ever. n fact they lost almost $500 million in 2019. Both companies have artificially inflated the wholesale market and both companies are happy to pass along that overpayment to the consumer. I do like that Carvana didn’t pressure me into running my credit with them after I told them I already had financing. I experienced that with other places. I looked at several online lots Vroom, Carmax and Carvana as well as some traditional lots. Out of all the online lots Carvana offered me more for my trade in and I will say online lots appear to have better prices on vehicles which was helpful considering I was upside down a couple thousand on the trade in. It kind of balanced everything out. I did have the car checked out during my 7 days and it was fine. The cons with Carvana in my experience were, they rescheduled the delivery of my vehicle twice. They are sending me $250 for my inconvenience for that. They also incorrectly labeled the car as having navigation which it didn’t have exactly. I ended up keeping the car because I didn’t want to go through getting another loan from the bank and waiting for them to deliver again. I think Carmax would have been easier considering I can physically see the car and pick it up unlike Carvana. Idk if I would do it again. I guess if I saw a good enough deal sure.
I've sold to both Caravana and Vroom, but not bought from, almost, but it was a pending sale which means it's basically sold unless during delivery it's declined. Curious, did the codes work? More than once?
BTW "your auto advocate" reviews both and VROOM, they make from $1800 to $2800 per car.
My question did either one push "extended warranties" like the dealers do?
They asked for a ridiculous amount. Like 2500ish for extended warranty which was like a year but you could make it longer if wanted. I rejected it
Bought a 2029 Honda Civic Si Coupe in 2020 from Carmax. It only had 3000 miles when I bought it. I had already driven a couple locally so I knew what to expect and with only 3000 miles I wasnt too worried. $900 to ship from Denton, TX to New Orleans area. Took 5 days. I was already already pre-approved through USAA for financing so that part was smooth. My Carmax rep was also a vet and had plenty of experience dealing with USAA. Pick-up day only took maybe 30 minutes. 42,000 miles now and so far so good.
Question: Did Carvana have any way to test drive, or is it basically a system where you better know what you want? I know they have a 7 day return policy.
Did any sale reps ride with you from CarMax? When I shopped there the guy rode with me which is what typical dealerships do too.
Carvana had no test drive system that I know of, just take it for 7 days a d if you don't like it return it. You only get 3 returns.
CarMax I took it on a test drive alone. Though that may be new policy due to covid.
I bought a car from Carmax they give you 20 minutes to test drive the car.
Carvana lets you take the car for a test drive when you pick it up (no salesman in the car with you, you just get to drive it around like it’s yours and get a feel for it). You don’t have to take it if you don’t like the test drive you can can return it right there on the spot if you want.
the apr isnt really on the dealership though is it? I mean you can shop for your own financing pretty easily at your bank or credit union. My CU was actually easier to process the loan than it would have been at the dealership. copy of the purchase contract and copy of my insurance.... they emailed me forms the next day to sign and I picked up the check the next afternoon to take to the dealer. I think it could get kind of weird if they put a lien on it and send you to the dmv though- because you gotta put the lender on the registration
Great information thanks for sharing K bye!👌👍👍👍👌
wow, just wow. I am too nice a person to share my true feelings about this video
4:55 " I had it shipped free to Tennessee for free " haha. In all seriousness, great review 👌
thank you.... background: i have sold two cars to carmax and did purchase a Mazda CX9. A coworker bought a Toyota Rav 4 and another coworker bought a Nissan Rogue from Carvana...They both are happy with their purchases...
Excellent review !!!
Am currently in process of buying my fifth purchase at CarMax. By luck, I ran across a Carvana ad this morning and submitted my information on my trade-in. CarMax offered me $27K and Carvana offered me $28,700. Yep, I will now be purchasing from Carvana.
Purchased my first car from Carvana. Was faultless. CarMax was great as well - just more traditional and prices were not as good
Quoting interest rates doesn't mean much if we don't know what the fico score was. Can you share what fico score they were using?
Were you a first time buyer? Had no credit established? Or did you have bad credit?
Carmax was ok. I blame employees for my dislike with them. They sold me a car and it had imperfections. They fixed it and when I went to get my car after them having it a week, they had ran into something and broke/cracked the back bumper. They then had it another 2 weeks. They also financed and gave me a 13 percent apr rate. Now I am full 1099 and no one wanted to sell me a car due to self employment. And if they did they wanted a 20ish apr rate which is crazy. I’ve paid off 2 cars back to back. Carvana didn’t even ask me for a paystub because I put 6k down and they approved me within an hour. Waiting on my car now. I did notice that their cars are a little over priced so I found one that was only 1k over. They gave me a 8% apr so it will even out in the end compared to other places!
Good video. I got my car through Carvana and they delivered it to me for free plus I do not have to go get my tags they mailed them to me. In my state you are required to have emissions done and they even took care of that for me.
Did you try to negotiate vehicle prices at either Carvana or Carmax?
Nice informative objective video.
Thank you!
Carvava offered me 9,990 for my 2016 Volkswagen Jetta. I went to Carmax and they offered me $13,600. It really depends. Try both 🤷🏽♀️
Great video!!
We got a loan from our credit union for CarMax. A lot fewer add-ons after the sale compared to the usual car dealerships. No pressure from sales staff, they are not paid on commission, making more if they cheat you more.
Thanks 👍
apr is more base on the credit you have and the bank who leads the loan. but other then that very helpful video thank you.
“They’ve been around since 1993…. They’re as old as me”💀💀
Good content!!
Thank you!

Currently buying from Carvana and have had 2 delivery delays thus far. Was supposed to get the car today but they said registration and plates were delayed by the DMV. Read a lot of horror stories on Reddit about this, especially in NY where I am. So really crossing my fingers that the car is delivered as of next Saturday's date, or even moved up if possible.
The closest Carmax to me is an hour and a half from me. And I don't have a car to just pick up and go to it. Or else I would have checked them out. I do see however Carmax seems to offer home delivery as well so I probably will browse their selections if Carvana keeps the delays going strong.
i’m having the problem of my car being delayed 4 times.. still haven’t gotten the car.. supposed to be delivered tomorrow. did you ever get yours?
@@cecebennett2795 That sounds par for the course with Carvana. I wound up cancelling the order when I noticed the window sticker said the car was a manual, but they had it listed as automatic on the site. They confirmed it was indeed a manual and I had to cancel the order never having driven stick before.
I wound up finding the same car on Carmax for a $1000 cheaper and with less miles. Had to ship it to me from Denver which did cost a bit but was totally worth it. Got the car in less time then they quoted me the delivery would take. Was very happy with the whole process with Carmax.
I feel like Carvana has grown faster then they can handle with the pandemic last year. Lengthy delays for delivery again seem like the standard as everyone on their Reddit thread that gives a good or bad review says they got delayed at least once if they didn't pick the vehicle up at one of their vending machines.
What about the warranty? Do they give any warranty for the car u purchased
I must say the only two bad things I heard about carvana was the delivery service and time . Also when it came to the tags and registration to get the tags.
No Bueno on those APRs
Yikes, I just bought a car and I got 2.69
This was the comment I was looking for. That cray.
Great video. I know Carmax sells vehicles as is no warranty, but I know they also have several warranty options available. How did carvana compare in your experience?
That’s not correct, carmax gives you 90 day warranty and 30 days to return a car
Do you still have any codes available? Love the video also
8:30 having to make an extra trip to the DMV (for Carvana) probably makes the extra time signing at carmax vs few minutes at carvana a wash huh
I purchased a 2019 GMC Yukon with 29000 miles at CarMax in June 2020. My car is now worth on trade-in at a GMC dealer 41000. We bought at the right time like you did.
I eventually sold my car back to CarMax for $7800 more than I paid for it last year.
Great video.
Fellow Atlanta area native I am dealing with Carmax/Carvana at the same time.
I plan on uploading a video very soon comparing the two and a comparison to a local dealership.
Thanks again for the detailed video.
Where’s the video?! Tag me when it’s uploaded would luv to see the content.
Omg its Stevie Richards!
Carvana all the way for me. Reserved an amazing deal during this crazy market and the wait took about a month. $20k for 2014 Nissan Murano w/ only 3k Miles.
There are lots of great deals like this one but you have be patience like a hawk on the lookout.
I have a Fiat 500x and 500L too!!!
Love them!
Thank you! Lol as you probably already have seen in the comments not many agree lol but all of them are also going off of old prejudice info lol
Do all Carmax dealerships have concrete barriers blocking the entrance and exit when they are closed?
Wow, I cannot say they do 🤔
Isn't Fiat short for Fix It Again Tony?
King of the Hill taught me that lool
BMW - Buy More Warranty

I purchased my last 3 vehicles at Carmax. Like the no haggle pricing.
Is carmax good for my first car just wondering bro
@@Nolimitfredo24 Don't see why not. CarMax will also ship a car to your location. Sometimes free, sometimes you pay for the shipping. Again this is no haggle low stress buying.
@@DavidEVogel Thanks bro
Since they make it easier to get even with lower credit or with less money down I'd say it's probably the easiest way to get a better car as your first car
