I Sold My Car To Carvana For $3,000 MORE Than KBB Said I Should Get!!!

- Excellent experience, no hassle, most annoying thing was the insurance
Now it’s my turn - I’ve found a car im going to buy and therefor I need to sell my car
Trading in at a dealer you can typically expect fair condition KBB value or somewhere around there
So knowing that I remembered the webesedibo ads from carmax and then thought of carvana knowing they buy cars
I went online to see what ballpark i might get for my Infiniti and here’s what they quoted me
So I think the best way to share this experience is just to walk you through my exact steps and experience.
I got the KBB value of my car and it was like 8 grand...pretty much what i expected
Went to Carvana and it was super easy to get a ballpark.
I just put in my license plate and state, mileage, zip code, color, equipment and condition
Pretty much the exact same things you need to get KBB value, but with plate
They then ask if you owe anything on the car/ how much and then they give you your number
Keep in mind that KBB values my car around 8k, maybe 8500
Carvana spits out this ridiculous number of $11652 and I’m like HELL YEAH SOLD
So at this point i bring myself back down to earth and be like “ok matt this is probably big number to get you hooked in and will likely change”
However, at this point Carvana is offering me like 3 grand more than i expected, so I’m like alright even if the number is inflated it’s still a good price, so i move forward
Next step is to enter documents - uploaded to the portal

Once those are added, someone at Carvana reviews them - takes about a day
Then they ask for a few more photos
Trim badge - to ensure it’s a g37x or whatever trim you have
If there’s any damage you’re supposed to take photos of that
Someone will then review that and if they don’t need anything else (which they shouldn’t) you get your formal, real offer.
And the initial offer stood! The number that I thought was inflated to get me interested is what they actually offered me and what they paid me for my car!
They break down the pricing a little bit, and i’m not sure 100% how they get there, but they show the value of the car as about what i thought i was going to get based on what KBB said, but then they threw another 2500 or 3000 at me for local market value based on my zip code - which i thought was weird
In any case your offer is good for a week and i just let my car sit since i had a press car so i didnt mess with mileage.
At this point you accept the offer, since it’s great, and then move on to how you want to get paid and when you want them to come get your car.
At this point I was on the phone with customer service since they called me asking about the trim badge and damage.
While i was on the phone they took care of the payment type and scheduled the pickup.
For payment you can get direct deposit, bank transfer, or physical check
I chose physical check so i wouldnt have to call my bank and tell them money was coming in
Take plates off since in WI you keep your plates

So here are my final thoughts from the experience of selling a car through carvana without having bought from cavana
I did another video where i bought a carvana car and i’ll link it here
Based on this experience I was left, once again with a very positive feeling from Carvana
No one likes haggling
I felt like I got a great price
It was super simple and the support people were wonderful
And there’s something to be said about doing thi from the comfort of your own home on your schedule
Additionally, the clarity, no bullshit about the ease you can get a very real idea of what they will pay you is wonderful
This whole process took about 2-3 days and then they could schedule pickup within a week at my house
Overall, excellent experience, I will certainly use carvana again - BTW this was not sponsored by Carvna in any way

Special thanks to my Patrons for their support of the channel! Any guesses what I replaced the G with??
I say ya replaced the G with a Tesla!
@@nacho7614 That's a VERY good guess. It wasn't a Tesla, but when it comes time to replace my wife's car we are thinking about getting an EV. I've been hearing a lot of good things about the new Ford Mach E so it might be that versus model Y when it comes time!
@@dwnshft hell yeah! That is one good looking car the MACH E. Def you need to make a video on that. Such a good looking EV.
@@nacho7614 no doubt! Currently working with my Ford rep to try to get a Mach E this spring/summer
Sold my Audi with Carvana. I literally entered my info Monday and had the car sold with a check in my hand Thursday morning. Crazy easy, at this point in time would 100% recommend this company.
Yes CarMax offered me 8000 for a 2016 Kia Optima with 50k miles and it has an accident listed on the CarMax , Carvana paid me almost 12k 😬
I meant the carfax listed an accident.
Sold my Honda Accord Hybrid to Carvana after getting buy quotes from the Honda dealership and Carmax. Carvana's offer was $2500. more than both offers. I'm a believer, I'll be using their Buy Services again. Process was quick and seemless. 🏆
I sold my car to Carvana today, it was super easy! I wouldn't recommend buying a car from them, but I will definitely encourage you to sell to them.
How detailed is their inspection
Bought a new car two weeks ago. Got decent deal given the chip shortage and car shortage times we're in. After having it a few weeks I'm really not excited about it. I regret not getting another model the local dealer wouldn't really deal with me on. I think I'll try Carvana when I get the title (paid cash) to see if I can recoup most of what I paid and go get the other one I liked more at another dealership. Basically, you're video gave me hope that I might be able to get out of this without too much loss.
I recently helped my parents in selling their car to Carvana. However, we were somewhat apprehensive due to concerns that the streamlined process might result in something being overlooked, potentially leading to a negative outcome for us.
To our pleasant surprise, that was far from the case. The experience was incredibly smooth, and I received my check on the same day.
The entire process involved a straightforward 15-minute meeting. While I might not feel entirely at ease purchasing from them, when it comes to selling, it's an obvious choice. In fact, the valuation I received from Carvana was higher than some of the low offers I received from other third-party buyers.
I appreciate your detailed description! Thank you!
Crazy, right? I was in the exact same boat as you. I own a 2012 G37x with 100k miles. Expecting a value of about $5-6500 at very most for it, Carvana offered me $8750 and will be here tomorrow to pick it up. I pick up my 2021 grand Cherokee next week!
ahhaha crazy!
The reason for higher price points for your used vehicle is due to the market we're in. There's higher demand and the used car market is hot. Nice work!
Yes! Carvana is a very easy way to sell your car quick for top dollar! I've sold TWO cars to Carvana within the last 7 months and would sell to them again. So easy and actually fair! Second sell was even more generous than just fair! (And I'm a huge skeptic by nature).
AWD would be much more desirable than RWD in Wisconsin especially in winter months. That is why they went through the extra step to make sure it was a G37x and not the RWD G37.
Carvana is AWESOME!!! Effen easy as pie... no drama NOTHING!!!
I did this same thing! $3k more than CarMax for my Jeep. Amazing experience.
That’s good to know about Carvana. Great vid on your experience. But yeah take that free money and run! Haha wow $2500k more? Cool winter boots btw what brand are they?
Thanks for watching! I hope the video was helpful to you. They're Native boots. I got them years ago off JackThreads. Honestly I dont even know if JackThreads is a thing anymore. They're SUPER light and comfy for boots and they were stupid cheap. Love em
I've been looking to trade in my 2016 Jeep compass and ofc dealerships want to low ball the hell out of me. Checked with CarMax and Carvana. CarMax offered 10,880 (which is low) and Carvana offered 15,780! It's nuts.
He's right. They will pick up my car Monday. I didn't think the guy that invented this concept would work. They have it down using this process. Kind of like what Amazon did.
It’s probably because if a car is in LA, it’s stuck in traffic all the time which is horrible for cars VS open country that doesn’t have a lot of stop & go traffic. Plus it’s based off of the type of driver probably too
Spouse just sold a 2013 bmw for 22k, low miles. Dealer offered like 10k in trade in. 💯👍 carvana
I sold my 2020 F150 to Carvana in April. $5500 more than I paid for it in Jan. They offered $8k more than local dealers. Total process took 1 hour. Great experience.
incredible
Carvana offered me $1,200 over my purchase price last June. SO um yeah, I let them buy it. Very easy transaction. I'll never sell private party again if I don't have to. Now what does this do to the used car market in the long run? Will we all be only left to dealers/online retail for high quality recently owned used vehicles? We will see.
Do you need to contact DMV after car is sold or do they do it for you ? Also does Carvana provide bill of sale ?
I think kbb also change their car values calculate system, couple mouth ago my car was like 8-9k on kbb, and carvana offer $10500, and I just check it today kbb offer is $11300.
First, thanks for getting right into it. I just tried to watch a video about if from someone else and all he did was talk about his life. Fast forward a year and a half from your experience, there are things popping up about Carvana, like checks bouncing. Did you have any issues with your check? I've also heard that they issue bank drafts, like it's not really a check until they give the bank an okay to fund the draft. Also, I've read that Wells Fargo handles the drafts... they're like the most evil and crooked bank in existence. Thank you again... liked!
Damn, I just tried selling my Infiniti to Carvana and they low balled me so much they offered me less than what the stock sport wheels, that are in perfect shape, are worth.
Great video . Did you happen to give them the vehicle title without signing your signature and printed name and odometer reading
Did you have to upload your ID AND pic of your odometer ? How did the payment process work? Which one did you do ?
I did yes and yes i got paid direct deposit but they do check took 3 days to get paid because i sold it on Saturday
I got offered 3600 more then what I paid at carvana
3100 from carmax 2019. Not bad
I just went thru sending photos of id, title, vehicle etc, but my mileage will be increasing if they don't pick it up immediately. Mileage was 81,300, but the longer they take, it will change. What will they do when the driver gets here and it's 81,600?
Thank you for your time bro. Very helpful, gave you a like.
Thanks 🙏
Really upset I didn't try this way of turning in my lease 5 mos ago. Unfortunately life changed and need to get out of that lease to get a now more family oriented car due. So I will be checking carvana
Selling my Kia Sorento to Carvana. I was shocked at how much more they offered over Blue book.
I have an appointment for pick up. Do they jump in your car and drive it around the block or do they just get in to drive it up on the roll back. Just a little nervous about them taking it out and about without me. Otherwise, we are happy so far.
How long did you waited for the check to come? Before or after the car is taken?
Ty so much selling my car next week 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Hi Ty for the video!
What did you end up putting for the “buyer” name and address for the dmv NRL?
Horrible. I traded my car and went through 2 lemons. Decided I just wanted my.trade in back. 3 months after that I still don't have my title for my car back from them. Found out it was lost. Then found out I'd have it in a few weeks then found out it's lost again. Was told to goget another one. Tried that and can't because currently my cars title is on carvanas name in Arizona. I live in Oklahoma. My tag is due come July 1st. It's now June 28th. They won't send me a paper tag to avoid tickets. I can't get my renewal without my damn title. Recommendation.. just don't.
I was curious about their process and figured you wouldn't know the real number until they take it back for a full inspection. It seems a little crazy for them to buy cars without any diagnostics on it.
IKR its not hard to clear check engine lights with a scanner
You're an idiot. That's why they're used cars.
@@podatrb3360 Calm down buddy, exactly how does them being used cars exactly matter when making sure they are working and mechanically safe being a Idiot?? Think u would be the Idiot to NOT check them out even being "Used Cars". You prolly shouldn't call people Idiot's then make idiotic statements js
Crazy but true. Just sold mine to them and the guy barely looked at it. Got the check that day.
I got $3K more from Carmax. Pretty easy process. Gave me the deal they told me online.
This is great thank you for sharing your process! :) If you don't accept the offer within the week, but then a week or two etc after that decide you do want to sell to them can you resubmit with them? Also, how long after you accept the offer do they come pick up the car? Thank you!!
Yes
Yeah, but expect a lower offer
CARVANA pay you the money in the moment take your car?
Did you have to sign the title & give it to the driver?
Do you happen to know what happens if I still owe on my car? Would they just handle the title and money situation with my bank?
Did u cash the check before they picked it up? That is then most important question.
Will they pick up wherever? I also live in Wisconsin. La crosse to be exact. Just looking to sell (not trading in)
I think they can buy cars like that because they can make it back when someone finances a car
Not sure if you mentioned this but did they test drive your car before they purchased it?
My online quote from Carvana was over $4K more than KBB or CarMax and a couple others (that will just buy your car). Now I'm wondering if I should just let them buy my car...and then I'll have to scramble to find something else to replace it.
That makes me more comfortable to give them the title during pickup. I guess vroom you have to mail in the title before they pick it up? 😬
Selling my 2018 equinox to them Wednesday for 17k with 54,000 miles
You think if I chose direct deposit and i already scheduled my appointment, can I switch over to the check instead ?
Yes I believe so. My appt is on Friday and you go into your carvana account and you can change the way you are paid.
Very informative. Thanks for the step by step.
Do they take the plates off for you if you ask them?
The next video that I watched said that Carvana gets their pricing from a whole load of data like how popular is the car, how well have these models sold, how long has this model sat on the lot, what is the rating of the car on a number of websites, demographics, etc... you get the picture. One of the main ways that Carvana makes their money is selling debt, i.e. financing their car sales and then sell those loans to other companies. So, the more attractive a car is and/or sells off the lot, the more likely that car will sell at whatever % that they take from the person. I gleaned that from an article.
I've been doing a lot of research because I want to sell a car. It's a 2013 with 13K miles on it and it's cherry. They look to make about $2,500 more than they're offering me and after going through all of the uploading of pictures and texts/calls, they want to charge me $75 to pick it up. The car has a new battery, new tires, new wipers, synthetic oil change, and it's inspected until the end of October. I'm not throwing any more money at that car. I feel like it's a nickel 'n diming ploy and it has pissed me off that they held that from me the whole time until the end of the deal. Then, there's a couple of mentions around the internet that their checks are bouncing. It doesn't leave a good taste in my mouth.
Get a Tesla or Prius Prime!!! Electric Cars only
When we replace Sadie's car it'll be an EV!
Hi! Did carvana ask to check your ID when picking up?
My pickup was the next day. Crazy easy.
If you want to sell a car to Carvana, they refuse to let you preview the sales agreement and power of attorney they want you to sign. What are they hiding?
Oh shit really? I need to look into that. Was thinking of selling.
How detailed I’d the inspection when they pick up?
looked at it for like 10 seconds
They sold it for 22k lol and they don’t care about the damage I don’t think they look.
Good video. Can you sell to carvana if you still owe on the vehicle?
Yes. I just did this two days ago. You send them a copy of the payoff number from your bank/credit union and they transfer or write you a check for the difference on the spot and pay off your loan.
@@travislishman2550 how long did it take for them to pay off your loan
@@afiyaphinnessee4592 2 days. They give you a check for net amount
What car did you trade in with your old car?
what if they buy your car and you have to pay the bank off can they give funds to bank
Aaight
Cool
I’m doing it.
What number do you have for support with carvana?
sell while you can!!!! this wont last, its kind of breaking the car market, but who does not like extra money
Chip shortage . Definitely sell right now if you can
Did you have to pay taxes?
Thanks for a great vid. Did you get payment check at pick up of your car? was it a cashier's check?
Payment at pickup time. Normal business check. Cashed it right there
Why is Vroom paying more than Carvana by 2-3k typically?
It wasn’t for me. About $1500 less than Carvana.
Making 9k on my Kia Sorento Saturday.
My carvana is $4000 under kbb offer.
Audi S5?
Funny just tried it and autotrader was 3k more
You better hope they gave you the check as soon as you gave them the car. They are notorious for not sending the check. Im would be weary of any video that says carvana trade in went smooth. This just looks like a commercial for carvana.
I'm not paid in any way by Carvana, I've done a couple deals with them and these are my genuine experiences. I can't comment on anyone else's experience, but the videos on this channel are legitimate
Do they have an option to select salvaged title car?
I doubt it
Yeah not in my case they offer me 17k for my 2015 infiniti q50s they crazy
Does car need to be paid off?
no
Lol yea this why the ran themselves into the ground within a couple years 😂 they were to good to the ppl that ain’t how you make money as a company 😂 cleeearly. And 10:56 nooo you won’t lol
Mine was better too
All fake carvana offer mer 21.450 for lexus is350 f sport and other ofer 26k carvana fake news
Damn they dont test drive the car ? Probably cause of covid lol
Carvana's insurance prolly dont cover test drives lol, be a bitch to test drive a car and then get in a wreck.
@@cipero9246 I have seen other videos/reviews where the person did test drive the car around the block.
@@xxviciousbeautyxx Yeah it seems mixed tbh. Some do it some dont

Thanks for the review man. I had someone recommend Carvana today and I was skeptical. Im gonna look into it. Thanks bro! Follow my IG @jd3crxsi I think you'll appreciate what you see there. :)
