      That’s wonderful! I’m glad you found the link. I find jumping on designers email list is the best way to find patterns. Pinterest is so tricky nowadays. Don't forget that designers have old patterns too. They tell you about the new ones but check their directories on the website. I think I have over 300 patterns now.

    This is literally the only shawl pattern I've ever been able to follow. No counting to the third stitch of some past row and saying a prayer... just simple and straightforward. I do, however, think I'm going to size way up on the hook for a lacier look.

    • @WindingRoadCrochet
      @WindingRoadCrochet  6 лет назад

      I am glad you like the pattern, you can change the hook or the yarn size and the pattern will remain the same. Just stop working rows when the shawl is big enough for you. I want to make this one with a bulky yarn someday.

    I really like how you explain. It clear and understanding. My question is the chain 3 don't count as a dc would make one side be off count.

    • @WindingRoadCrochet
      @WindingRoadCrochet  6 лет назад

      You will chain 3, work your 3 double crochet into the first stitch (you normally skip this stitch when you count the turning chain as a stitch), then when you get to the end you will work the last 3 double crochet into the last stitch not into the turning chain. If you look at the graphs at the video at (4:14) you can count the stitches and see that they stay even. Let me know if this helps!

    Very beautiful shawl.
    I want to know that how much wool we required for this.

      It is designed to be made with any type of yarn. You just have to adjust your hook size, so how much yarn you need depends on the weight of the yarn and hook size. I used 1 skein of Red Heart Its a Wrap that was 623 yds. That is a lace weight yarn.

    Do you have a video on baby sweaters? Thank You very much

      I may actually do a sweater video soon, the pattern will be for a adult size sweater but in order to see what I am doing I will be making a baby sweater. The techniques will all be the same the starting chain and row count will just be different from the adult size.

      Just gently tug on that. Most things can be fixed by blocking it at the end.

    Love this ! Just a quick question: shouldn't the 3 chain in the beginning count as a stitch?
    Thank you

    Thank you for this. I would class myself as an advanced beginner and this pattern is very simple. I’m working with a cashmere yarn that is much lighter than I usually use and it’s giving me problems! 😂

    • @WindingRoadCrochet

      it can be tough using a new type of yarn.

      @@WindingRoadCrochet It doesn’t help that it’s a very dark blue, either. Anyway, I realised that it was working up in a diamond shape so I read the comments on your blog and ended up frogging 20 rows! Now I’ve added on extra chain to the turning and middle chains, and I’m doing four doubles into the first and last stitches, and that’s making a straighter edge. I am determined to finish it, it’s for my friend who has just been diagnosed with cancer.

    Good, clear instructions, thank you. But why is the picture above so much more open? It looks quite lacy. Is this achieved by using a bigger hook than the yarn calls for? I'm working on a tes piece so have incresed to an 8mm hook with a DK (UK) yarn.

    • @WindingRoadCrochet
      @WindingRoadCrochet  4 года назад

      Yes, for a lighter airier shawl use a larger hook. The full shawl that you see uses a lace yarn and a size h hook, which is larger than recommended. Just play around with your hook size to get the drape you would like.

    So the chain 3 doesn't count as a stitch?

    • @WindingRoadCrochet
      @WindingRoadCrochet  5 лет назад

      That is correct. Most patterns will count it, but for almost all of my patterns I do not count the chain 3 as a stitch. I just don't like having to work the last stitch into a turning chain.

    Very easy to follow, thank you!!! A question , why do I get a bump at top of shawl, I have watched many videos and still get no straight line across the top, always a bump, Help!!!

    • @WindingRoadCrochet
      @WindingRoadCrochet  2 года назад +2

      I would try working an extra chain for the turning chain. We often chain tighter than we crochet and if that chain is tight then it could create a bump.

    Buenas tardes, soy analida de Colombia, estoy tejiendo este chal, y tengo una duda, en la parte de arriba del cuello, donde comienza el chal, esa parte queda recta, o también va quedando en triangulo. muchas gracias

    • @WindingRoadCrochet
      @WindingRoadCrochet  8 месяцев назад

      It should remain straight. If you are struggling to make it straight, the add an extra chain to the turning chain.
