Robbin Crosby has a tough time navigating his way through a seatbelt PSA for music video station U68. Atlantic Records NYC Audio: Ed Kaz Camera: Johnny Elkowitz Editor: Ed Kaz
I am reading many negative comments here about Robbin and honestly no matter what anyone thinks of him, he was a human being, he had flaws and faults like any of us. He met a tragic end. He was a talented musician and by all accounts of people having the pleasure of making his aquaintance, he was a really nice guy too. So keep your criticisms to yourself, this is for his fans to pay respect to him..a fellow human being. A son, a brother, a friend. No one has the right to talk such shit.
Thank you, I totally agree. He was so talented and I heard he was a beautiful soul inside and out. I only wish I had gotten the opportunity to meet him.
Never a bad word about him from anyone he was ever around. Those people ate just jealous losers. My brother died of the same disease. Rat was my first concert. Best day of my life.
I agree. He was very beautiful and talented. His drug addiction doesn't mar his character. We all make mistakes and have lessons to learn. It's very sad what happened to him, and sad to hear that he was going through very hard times even at the height of Ratt's success (addiction, bulimia, depression, hurt feelings). He was a very kind and gentle human being and a lot of his problems stemmed from being hurt by other people. Then he got a terrible disease and suffered even more. Poor guy.
Actually this clip is hilarious. Awe Robbin, thanks for the chuckle, we'll miss ya. Just remember kids... Drugs can also spin you out perm leaving you in loonie bin, not just kill you.
What a kick-ass guitar player. Fuck advertising and all the frills and business crap. His center was guitar, and we all just fucking loved it. That's all I ask of him, so any criticism of this is low-level judgment and petty nit-picking for folks that can't grind that guitar or love someone who could. Go, Robbin.
He was good on the take when he said, if your cable system doesn’t carry u68 then call em up and tell em to stop fuckin messin around! That’s the take where he nailed it
Holyshit, I remember this and that channel, u68, music videos all day and of coarse the POWER HOUR!, nothing but the best metal and hard rock bands back in the awesome 80s, best decade ever, I lived in the Bronx, ny, no cable was not available, only satellite and roof antennas and u68 was always on debuting in 1985, it was really awesome, the only way I could watch music videos was on Fridays with New York hot tracks on 7 and friday night videos on 4, thank goodness for u68, the best if times watching your favorite bands getting down rocking the world like Robbin did, great guitarist, great man, awesome band, rip brother, you will always be missed, thanks for sharing your great talent to the world, I wish I could go back, with todays tech and news and information, you would've still been alive, Steven clark of Def leppard, and numerous other band members and family. damn I can't believe 34 years just flew by, takecare and god bless.
Thank you for the words of encouragement! If ANYBODY else having similar or same issues reads this comment and it really strikes a nerve. Then thats one little bump in the road thats been dealt with. Feel free to send me a message and I will listen to you and tell you things that your going to go through no way around it.
As a musician that had a career and battled substance abuse. Rip the king. My hero man.I’m only 34 but I know how hard addiction is. Sometimes life doesn’t make sense when you have it all.
Robin had his demons. By all accounts, a really nice guy who gave his time to any who asked. When I heard he passed in the early 2000's, I thought of that Billy Joel song : "Only the good die young".
I agree he was a gorgeous man...he was in a rock band in the 80s they all did drugs...unfortunately he got sick..I'm surprised more didnt!! Stop saying nasty shit about him ...the man is gone..He was an amazing guitar player as well
The biggest trouble with Ratt is they were 5 very different personalities and each one of them wanted to be "the" one. I can't believe the negative comments I'm reading about his playing! King was a bad ass! he had his own style and helped co-write many of their greatest tunes (just look at the song credits all the way through until they hit Detonator, he was in real trouble with addiction by then). Pearcy himself called him his 'right hand man". The lifestyle caught up with him. He wasn't the shredder that Warren was but who cares? He didn't have to be. One thing I loved about his solos are his bends, PERFECT pitch and very tasty! still don't believe me? look up his post Ratt project, Secret Service! There are some demos on here that are absolutely killer!
Living proof of that myself! 20+ yrs on the wrong side of a needle. About 5yrs ago I was going to record some parts and I broke down. Engineer (friend of mine) pulled me aside and just broke down himself because he knew. It wasn't that my playing sounded bad. I couldn't play anything!! I had forgotten everything. Total blank! I am still having trouble. I can learn and within 15 mins sometimes or next day will have forgotten all but bits and pieces.
He found out about it years after he got it, most likely he got it a couple of years after this. In one of the documentaries it said that by the time he quit the band in '91 he had started getting symptoms like infections that wouldn't heal, which is a classic sign of AIDS. But this was in '85, so most likely he didn't have it then. He just already had the bad habit of addiction, though it looks like in this video it's just nerves more than anything.
@@stevec1519.. Crosby died in Los Angeles on June 6, 2002. Although his death was reported to be from complications from AIDS, he actually died of a heroin overdose
The saddest thing about this historic clip, is the dehydrated Corn Plant draping all over Robbin. For christs sake can we feed the background talent? He deserves better...he is and was an iconic rock god! Dude played guitar like no other back in the day! RIP Robbin
If he had a speech impediment we shouldn't make fun of him as if he was on drugs, he really does look like he's fighting a stammer in this video, I knew someone with same problem, Gorgeous and talented man, R.I.P The King you are missed.....
His jaw was clearly independent from the rest of the body... Plus the sniffles... we all know what happened to him. Nonetheless, he was awesome and the King of Glam Metal. He had it all... talent, looks, star quality and charisma. Too bad he's gone so quick.
So Sad To See Him Try & Do This Commercial..He's So Wasted..Just Think,,If It Wasn't For Dope,He'd Still Be Here.& If I Was Playing With Him,, I Would've Been & Stayed By His Side In Rehab Even If It Was For 6 Month's.. Thanks To Everyone's Selfish Ness,, Their Brother,Best Friend,Band Mate, Is Gone Forever..I Still Can't Believe To This Day He's Gone. RATT Will Never Be The Same. They Lost The Spark That Made Their "Flame".. RATT Was My Top 5 Bands That I Listened To. I Learned Them On Guitar.!
People saying he's fuched up. Perhaps he's hung over a little. Anyone who's done voice overs will tell you this is common for non-professionals. It's not as easy as you think when you're not a professional actor. Most people would be screwing up their lines just like Robin is doing here. It's a form of stage fright or tape recorder fright
You are absolutely right, just like it happens to countless of other great musicians, such ass, John Bonham ( zep drummer) bad alcoholic died in his own vomit, Jimmie Hendrix ( barbiturate asphyxia age 27), Jim Morrison ( Heroine Overdose) just to name a few!
Yes he was probably on coke and heroin. But that's the only way anyone can be happy in this miserable world. If I had money and access, I would do the same. Fucking love Ratt and Robin!
What do you expect, they were rock stars either hung over, loaded, or strung out, they weren't geniuses. The problem is people believe the hyped up image their sold in the media and then when they meet these people they are like WTF! He ruled on stage with a guitar, hair spray, and a band. Just leave it at that, thats what they do.
The gentle giant. We miss you King .

I’m not seening one negative comment, so where are you reading these?
Yeah we do. He was a fuck up so suck it up buttercup
Only an ignorant fool would talk bad about Crosby
He was so painfully gorgeous. He makes my heart ache. Saw Ratt and Bon Jovi back in the day.
I wish he was still alive😥
Crosby and De Martini were a dynamic duo like K.K. Downing and Glenn Tipton.
Glad to read someone who recognize their work...
Couldn't agree more

He looks so done with life when he stutters...let's be honest if we gave him more hugs he would still be here
Who's 'we'?
You gave Ratt it's name! I was a sophmore in high school when this was filmed jamming to your riffs. RIP Robin Crosby "THE KING"
He was so ridiculously beautiful you could find a way to excuse why he was so wrecked here :) RIP sir...your talent is sorely missed!
Yeah...Listen to your elders kids!!RIP Robin.
He's not fukked up...he's hungover & feeling rough
The world in the palm of his hand and having a good Ole time! Can't say I wouldn't be the same way,lol cracks me up vicariously!
I've been there and I was sober!! All love, Robbin! You are missed big guy!
man that is sad stuff. RIP dude, you weren't meant to be here long....
Gorgeous!! Sorely missed!!!
00:40 that coke swallow. LOL
He was feeling good, and all throughout the video, if you know you know. Fun to watch. Memories...

Even though he was coked to the gills on this PSA, he was the “Nikki Sixx” to Ratt
Guess who introduced him to heroin
@@guitarsandsuchetc Don’t tell me...Donald Trump?

Clark been gone 31 years this month. I remember where I was.
He was feeling the drip.
haha, you really think so? you think he was on some caine? i did hear he was on heroin.

He lived the life people have problems I'll never talk shit about him he loved the life of 10 men R.I.P ROBBIN YOU ARE MISSED

Ha that's probably why Billy Joel is still around
Hard to watch his mind, body, self image and ego collide with drugs and alcohol behind the wheel, what a wreck Robbin was a cool cat!!

It reminded me of a scene from the movie Rocky
When he says he needs a drink, he's not kidding around.
King was a rocker, not an actor. Rest easy dear man.
I have his rare autograph, I'm never selling it. The King lives on.
Cocaine is a hell of a drug...when you’re 20 beers deep😂
Poor Robin, getting tongue tied!!! It can happen to anybody Robin and he did get it right at the end!!🙂🙃👍😊
Rest in Peace .
RIP SWEET PRINCE😢
His aids developed much later - 9 years later, to be exact. What he's suffering of there would be "need drink, need drug".
Very sad...What a phenomenal guitar player...man he had some awesome riffs...Wish he was able to get off that shit!!!!
