- Ratt Drummer, Bobby Blotzer unloads his frustrations while filling us in on his big plans for success. This is only the beginning with Mr. Blotzer. Call this "part 1". We have much more to come.
I met Bobby a few years back. Of all places, it was at a desert hot spring. I was with my group of friends, he was with his fiancee and their friends. I didn't recognize him right away. We were all just hanging out at the springs and having a few beers. He and I got to talking.. told him about my days as a bouncer in a nightclub.. all the women, the bar fights, the after parties etc.. then he told me stories about playing clubs in the 80s and all the crazy shit that happened. We talked like old friends for a good half hour. Then I noticed the Ratt dog tag he was wearing. I complemented him for it, told him how much I liked Ratt in the 80s. Then he told me who he is. I was so blown away. He was super chill, respectful and cool. He told me a bit about his outlook on life.. he definitely seemed to appreciate the business aspect of being a rock star as much as having fun with it. Very well balanced. That's my experience with Bobby. I was very impressed
That's amazing
that's awesome... thanks for sharing
Awesome, cool story. Thanks for sharing that.
Nice
Yawn
Miss the days with Robbin Crosby, the backbone of the band back then!!
wrong, everyone knows without Milton Berle writing the songs, producing the records, directing the videos, etc. etc. Ratt would never had did JACK SQUAT!
Very underrated guitarist and riff writer. Wish he hadn’t been taken so soon.

I couldn't imagine getting up in the morning and applying eyeliner as a 60+ year old dude.
Yeah, he needs to let the 80s go and realize he looks ridiculous 😂
The interview was right before a show he was doing.
Because you're not the drummer of Ratt
You must overcome your insecurities.
You get up in the afternoon if you're a rocker
I love RATT. Listen to them everyday still. Grew up jamming to them now my 14 yr old son sings along with me.
Every day ?? Dude , a Grip and Flip the Script :-)
Honestly the drum sound in the early material was really good he is an excellent drummer that entire sound is a team effort not just one guitar player
Yes. What matters is he always played well. Ep, Cellar, Invasion
It didn't hurt that they had a killer producer as well.
@@badmonkey2222 Saw RATT 2x--once in a club pre-fame, and once as an arena headliner, Bobby was great both times, Pearcy, not so much. The producer made everyone think they had a singer, but the band was always tight.
@@tyroneshuz yeah Beau Hill knew exactly what to do with Stephan's voice in the studio and it was almost impossible for him to recreate it live. Robin was talking about trying to harmonize backup vocals live with Stephen said every night he would be in a different key no it just a nightmare trying to sing backup vocals with him.
He was basic AF and the sound was the engineer's doing.
I saw Ratt front row center stage in 1984 and was one of the best concerts I ever witnessed. I pull out the Ratt songs every now and then and relive those days. Totally underrated 'hair' band from the 80s and on. Blotzer is so clear and level headed. Good to see an older rocker and drum master still with his wits about him.
I was 15, at the out of the cellar tour concert, and 3/4 of the way to the back of an arena and pointed at Bobby as he played and gave him a thumbs up. During the song just a second later he pointed at me and nodded his head and did a thumbs up back at me.. Seemed like a pretty cool guy to me.
RATT N’ ROLL for life …great band..
I liked all the members, they were amazing musicians, and I love RRRRRAAAAATTTT!
Bobby was an animal, and I hope history one day properly records (like this) the history of those 80's days. It was craaaaaazy.... And Bobby deserves a lot more credit than he gets for holding it all together.
Pearcy’s voice is gone
R.I.P. Robbin Crosby
Warren full of talent but probably moved on
Let Bobby keep Ratt alive if he wants, the music was awesome
Good luck Bobby
Warren made his money in RATT, and married a woman who was loaded, too. He's got no reason to put the time and effort into writing, recording, or touring.
The least important and least talented member? lol
Nah.
@@denizenofclownworld4853 Best stay in clown world son
Bobby is keeping the 80' s look until he's 90 lol.
Lmfao
Yeah that's awesome! 🤘🏻😎
😂😂😂
Love these videos bro. This is my generation. These guys are royalty. Keep em coming
Robin Crosby was the riff writer and Warren had the skill that few ever had, even at the very top.
Except Warren wrote most of their biggest songs.
I met Bobby years ago after a show in Belfast, Ireland. He's a cool dude!
Two of the all time best guitar players, plus Robbin Crosby wrote many many of the hit riffs,,, I got to meet Robbin way back in 1985 in Fayetteville NC, Bon Jovi opened,, Sorry Bon but Ratt blew the doors off of that place! Robbin was the only band member to come out behind the venue and talk with fans,, what a great guy, he towered over me and my friends, soft spoken and I have to say a gentleman,,, Thk you for that great memory, RIP
It's really sad to see such a great band self destruct.
Sad yes , but also entertaining as all hell
Lots of bands do.
No matter how he tries to explain it, it was clearly just plain wrong to call that band RATT
He never called it Ratt.
@@godwillguideme.3773 Uh, that is exactly what he did: "In September 2015, Blotzer announced that he had taken control of the Ratt brand and would take his band on tour in 2016 using the Ratt name. However, within days, Warren DeMartini spoke out against Blotzer using the name, as he owns half of the Ratt name as part of WBS, Inc., the company owned by him and Blotzer. Blotzer claimed he has the legal right to go on tour using the name, as DeMartini breached his fiduciary duty by refusing to tour under the Ratt name as a partner in the corporation. In October 2015, DeMartini sued Blotzer for falsely advertising his "tribute band" as the real thing. In November 2015, DeMartini's attempt to procure an injunction to prevent Blotzer from using and touring under the Ratt trademark was overturned, allowing Blotzer to tour using the name Ratt."
@@godwillguideme.3773 wrong. We saw his version of Ratt a few years ago. He said everyone in the band except him weren't born when out of the cellar was released
He should have called the band "bRATT" with the original logo style - as in, "Blotzer's Ratt". Sure, that sounds pretty lame but so does the band. :-)
It wouldn't be right without Steven's vocals
I had no idea Ellen Barkin was in Ratt
This is great. I like that the segment is just under 5 mins long, it held my attention. I always thought Blotzer was sort of a jerk for some reason but this really made me see him differently. Looking forward to more.
Haha, I always thought he seemed like a cool guy and this made me see him differently! Funny how that works.
This dude has always been miserable because he never got any publishing or writing credits. it’s a good thing for him that he’s touring with the Ratt name and it’s cool that he is still keeping the music going and bringing it to the people.
For $$$ not passion. He honestly wouldn't be out there if he had royalties like Demartini and Croucier coming in
State Fair version of Ratt. Crazy that surviving members can't bring the FIRE!!!!🔥🔥🔥🔥
Bobby always seems extremely vindictive
Love Blotz! I read his book. True legend. Still kicks ass behind a kit!!!!
Yeah his book is a good one I really enjoyed it man.
Legend? I don't think you know what that word means, because the Blotz is no legend.
In all fairness to the "Blotz" we caught him backstage just before he went on in LA. This is why you see him a bit dressed up and "gloved up". Love ya Bob!!
Lol. I was wondering about that!
Yeah, be kinda queer if ya caught him just runnin errands about town like this wouldnt it , mate ? 😂
I remember hearing Out Of The Cellar as a 10 year old and immediately being hooked, Ratt & Dokken were my go to, so sad to hear about Ratt in this situation.
He’s a cool guy man. 👍
Glad he’s still rockin ‘ !
Hes a fantastic drummer
Ratt's old producer said that Bobby was always the hardest one to work with pretty obvious as to why....
His drumming was so peppy and zippy on those early records. But now the eyeliner is a bit...

Solid and mature. Keep going 💪🏼
Bobby I’ve met a few times. Always chill and kind. Talks with you like you’ve known each other for years. He’s gotten a bad rap. He’s a really cool guy with exceptional talent.
Your a great drummer one of the best
Bobby l liked your drumming! Very precise and with lot of groove brother! It sad business breaks up a kick ass band because of personal gains from menbers.
I have watched bands break up, burn down, Sue each other in court etc for more than four decades. Meanwhile the public is like, just give us the music we liked when you started this whole thing up. Give us the original band members the way we want it. The band's right to conduct their own business, is their business and not the listening public. However I think it becomes more about the band and less about the fans as the years go by. Pitiful but it happens to many of them. Meanwhile, all of the band members are exceptionally talented individuals appreciated by all of us... so much time and money is wasted by all of the bickering fighting and breakdowns. I can't help but think... What they could have accomplished if they just put their heads together and kept at it
He's slowly morphing into Mickey Rourke
RATT was started by Pearcy and Crosby, how did Blotzer end up owning part of the name with Warren?
To answer your question on that thought I believe there was a time where Stephen pearcy almost lost total ownership the trademark Ratt.. Bobby and Dee Warren jump into the picture saved it from being owned by music label.. so the story goes as Mr Stephen pearcy did something without the knowledge of the band..
💗Looking and sounding great,Honey💗💙
My son went to see Bobby live and after the show let him on the bus. Very cool dude.
Love Ratt. This now sounds more like Spinal Tap!
I met bobby after a show in San bernardino about 15ish yrs ago......he took the time to talk to me. He was a nice guy....he didn't seem like he wanted to get the conversation over with..
I met pearcy after a show in temecula and lets just say maybe he wasn't having a very good night.
I love this band and I think ALL the guys are terrific musicians. I hope I can see them all together again before someone gets an illness or something.
Cudos for getting out there and kickin ass
Super cool dude! Got the chance to share a bucket of beer with him on the Motley Cuise in 2008 on the pool deck at 2 AM.
RATT is a great classic metal band. Thanks. (🤘) !
Bobby must go to the same gym as Vince Neil

The Blotz Bobby Blotzer 🤘🏻🥁
One has to wonder how old this interview actually is. Posted 7 months ago but referring to a lawsuit filed in 2015. All Warren wants is Bobby, Stephan and himself to be in the band and they did tour for a minute until it all went south. Percy is not in great health either.
Love the skull headband lol
But fir real, I love that most of the rockers from back in the day stayed true to their roots. Rock n roll for life is a real thing 🤘
Gee, I wonder why Warren wouldn't want to take a call from Bobby.
The action figure headband says it all.
Because Warren is one of Ratts talents and Bobby isn't.
@@kurtstergar1042 But mostly because Bobby is an asshole. That's what I was getting at.
@@meatwad1 yes I know, I understand sarcasm. So then what's Fucking blotzers problem with Juan? Almost every interview Bobby has done, he takes shots at Juan the most.
@@kurtstergar1042 I heard an interview with Juan several years ago where he said Bobby took special ed courses in high school. I wonder if Bobby was humiliated by that. He might be harboring a grudge. I found that interview here on RUclips so you can probably find it.
Warren Demartini is one of the best guitarists of all time, without Warren there is no RATT sorry drummer.
Agreed
Same here. I also feel the same about LA Guns without Traci
George Lynch
warren is my third favorite guitarist I agree with you without him there is no ratt but robin crosby also contributed a significant part to the band she did not mention
Ok sure But Bobby and his drum skills were just as important as Warrens awesome guitar jammin.
well Warren probably invested his money and is retired by now 🤷♂️
This happens to all bands at some point. It just does. Make the best of it.
Keep Rat rolling dude
Chatted with Bobby today. Nice guy.
A TRUE Rocker! 🤘😈🤘
Glad I saw them in '86 🤘
This would be a better channel if the entire interview can be seen/heard in one sitting.
Why cut these interviews up into segments?
Out Of The Cellar was a very 🔥 album with great drumming also 🤘
Translation: I didn't get any song writing royalties, and the older brothers are tired of supporting their little brother. They made money and watched it so they didn't have to "go to work" in their 70's.
Where is the rest of the interview??
Rock on Bobby. Now that I know the story I'm glad you are doing your thing. I would go see you and the RATT Experience. Why do bands not stay together?
Same reason marriages dont last, egos, money, personality conflicts. You litteraly live with 3 -5 guys for mnths, farting , belching, pissing , eating , stinking , and arguing in close proximity.
I gotta say, these guys got trapped in a look that didn't fare well with age🤘
Underrated drummer
Not really, and i love Ratt, but Blotz is VERY average
The irony 🤣here is that I got off RUclips to watch the Hoarders episode of the Poo 💩 Lady... again.
Kick ass and Ratt&Roll... Always a Ratt, your cousin Chris! Bessamer Terrace Pa.
R.I.P. to ROBBIN CROSBY who passed away 20 Years Ago Today at Age 42
Bobby was badd ass back in the day. It's cool that he still has that drive to perform after all these years. You can honestly see he has a love for it and it's sorta sad that they have not been able to resurrect the great RATT of old.

Ratt is one of the few 80's bands I would pay money to see today. Killed it every album for awhile. Figure it out fellas....
Ive been jaming ratt since 1980 something ive seen them in big open air to drinking with them in pub/bar. Gigs
Robbie might have been in the band longer but was only ever on one good album. Juan, despite his part in breaking up the band, was on all the good ones.
Could you by chance fill me in on Juan's role in the break-up?
If I’m not mistaken, I think Juan wrote the majority of the material, especially on Out of the Cellar. I know Warren did some and same with Robbin on the original lineup material. Bobby Blotzer to me seems really vindictive and full of himself in interviews. That’s a shame.
Met Warren and Bobby in NC after a show. Warren was awesome. Great guy. Took his time to talk and sign autographs and take pics. Bobby would not look at anyone, not talk to anyone and refused to sign or take pics. Wouldn’t walk across the street to see him or his crap version of “Ratt”.
Maybe dude wasn't having the best day, I'm sure we've all had our sour moments.
Inspiring as a drummer and businessman
Love u, Bobby!! 🤘😎🤘
Great drummer.
The Glam-Grandpa Halloween costume, coming soon to a Walmart near you! (The 80's are over, let it go)
I'm surprised Bobby Blotzer was never offered (or accepted) a slot in another big band, or a real supergroup type situation. I think he is the best drummer of that era.
Warren doesn’t need Ratt as much as Ratt needs Warren. Big difference. And if you’ve ever been around or talked with Bobby, you’d totally understand why Warren and Juan want nothing to do with him.
Blotzer is annoying, but DeMartini comes from money. He doesn't have to have anything to do with anybody if he doesn't want to.
I have a signed pair of sticks from him that I got from a Ratt concert I went to at 8. He always seemed like a good dude. Hopefully him and Stephen will play together again some day
To this day I can't believe the great band they had during Infestation...and how it all went to shit. Even though that album wasn't great overall other than a few tracks, they really were set for a great comeback...and, nothing. A real shame. Carlos in the band WITH Warren? Wow!
This is my favorite Mickey Rourke interview.
Crazy stories, Bobby’s a beast on the drum kit..
Beast tag goes to John Bonham, Neil Peart, Bill Bruford.....not this guy LOL
you could've muted the goatee touching sound at beginning. lol
Saw you guys with Skid Row in Mississippi, enjoyed the concert. Such a shame band members can't get on and get their shit together between them. REM had it right, all equal in everything, they were around for years!

whats with the baseball gloves? did he just come from BP?
The problem with being in a band is the miscues of who wants to work and who doesn't. Often the person that was once motivated has decided creative benefit is not worth the effort. I don't know where this comes from but the business side is a drag. It is a ton of work but in the end definitely worth the effort. We need more of the opportunity to become successful. With Covid dying a death that never should have been created, we will see new growth. I am glad Bobby sees that too.
Without Stephen Pearcy it isn’t RATT. It was his band. He drove the whole thing, with the others of course, to where it hit big.
And Robbin Crosby
Great drummer
