"Higher you are, the safer you are" not exactly true for the Mavic Mini in windy conditions hehe. I had to drop my drone below 60 feet to be able to bring it back one day in Bonaire :P
New to droning here so really appreciate the simple breakdown(and fantastic artwork =) This video really helped me understand one of the biggest questions I had in regards to thr RTH process and gives me much more confidence in my initial fly attempts. Thank you and keep up the great work!
Hey Xavier. A newbie here. When i fly my Mavic Mini i notice that the blinking green light in the back sometimes turn red solid. What is this? Any problems with communications? Thanks.
I have to disagree with general rule of thumb, "higher you are safer you are", a ton of accidents happen due to high winds and Mini sailing off or dropping out of sky due to high winds. Imo staying as low possible assures your Mini returning home safely. I always gauge my surroundings same as you and I set my return to home 20ft higher than highest peak. I think (do not have your experience with other drones) that this applies solely to the Mini and other drones are much safer to fly in higher winds. Your channel rocks bro! *1 year in now with mini and 0 crashes.
what if you take off from high attitude at the edge of a hill and when you press RTH and the drone will fly back but not exact precise point of take off, say miss by 15ft, will the drone just keep dropping as there is no platform off the edge to land?
Hi. Got a question what if your in a 120m altitude then you set your rth to 60m altitude. Then you lose signal. What will happen? Does the drrone lower first to 60m altitude then go home or it will go home directly at a 120 altitude? Thanks
If you lose signal, and the drone begins to hover for approx. 10-11 secs. BEFORE it engages the RTH feature, does that give you a few seconds to change the altitude in the "Settings" tab of your Return to Home setting? .. or is it locked at that point?
Suppose we are away from drone or drone are at low level like 20ft in garden or under tress.sudenly we need RTH but if i had set RTH HEIGHT AT 200 feets.. My question is that when my dji air 3 prepear him for goto 200 feets (for set RTH position but drone are at under tress so what will b happened.. They did or not colapsed with tress..? Pls clear my confusion
Thanks for all the info! My question is: If drone does a RTH, will it come back and hover @ set altitude and wait for user to bring it down? Or will it come back @ altitude and LAND by itself?
Mr. X thanks for all your work! VERY HELPFUL! Could you provide any information on Resetting RTH position based off Flyers (Mavic Mini Controller) location? Thanks
spcially for the mm. You forgot to mention that it is important not to setup the return home too high, because the wind is stronger at higher altitude. I almost lost a drone like that...

Honestly it's hard to say what mobile standard is suitable for Mavic Mini, simply because Wi-Fi is very prone to interference and it would be very difficult to determine for a fact if it's the mobile or the Wi-Fi itself being affected by interference that's causing the problem and that's also causing restarts. Thanks for sharing Happy Flying 😎

Hello Sir! I've been watching your videos before I bought myself mavic mini. I'm facing one frustrating issue while flying is with rc signal lost and unable to capture photos. It really kills the mood when you can't fly above 80m of altitude. Please help me to fix it! Also can you make a video about how to get better transmission in city area? I've seen videos where people getting above 500m mark of altitude :/
Tariq Khan depending what country you’re in you might have the ce version which has weaker transmission power and uses 2.4ghz as well as 5.8ghz. Here in the US it has a stronger transmission power and only uses 5.8ghz which is less prone to interference than 2.4ghz.
Hi Tariq, Signal strength varies by location! DJI Mavic mini works with Wi-Fi transmission which isn't very strong in urban areas and proned to disconnections in areas with a lot of Wi-Fi routers and a big buildings! If you primarily intend to fly in these type of locations, maybe look into DJI's more premium drones with Ocusync transmission that can withstand interference much better than Wi-Fi! Good explanation but NOT completely true. U have given UR views a false sense of security. Please review DJI Mavic Mini manual I believe on page 13 for RTH function. If UR drone is not 20 meters or more from the Home Point, UR drone will land immediately and not RTH (go to RTH height and/or back to home point) if U press the RHT button on controller or screen. I have not tried this with loss of signal, only pressing RTH button. Also if the RTH height is set at 100ft for example and the drone is currently flying higher than 100 ft and the HOME POINT distance is greater than 20 meters the drone will NOT descend to the the set RTH height but go to the 0 distance point for RTH then descend to land. DJI and I had a long discussion on this subject until they sent me the manual and I tested the 20 meter limitation. Keep up the great videos as I have learned a lot from U!
What are your thoughts on people that fly for a hobby should we continue to buy expensive drones when the FFA is probably going to put the brakes on the hobbyists, and place us in a corn field to fly in. Or maybe they'll do us like Canada and make you become a full-blown pilot and go through all of the BS that I've seen on RUclips to fly a drone there now totally not worth it
There's no telling what the FAA will propose next, that's kind of out of our control for now, however whatever new rules coming to effect, will take years to be implemented, by which time whatever drone you by now will give you years of flying until new rules come into effect, if these new rules are worst case scenario.
