Hi Ian, very helpful video mate..
It's a shame, I truly believe dji made a mistake with this drone and has used undersized and powered motors, and I don't think it will turn out to be a big seller like the air and pro. Even though the spark is around only 60g heavier is handles wind so much better then the mavic mini due to the much more powerful motors, its a shame I think the mavic mini is z great drone but it being under powered is stopping me buying one, I'd rather keep my spark for sure..
Have a good weekend Ian, and happy flying all 👍

He was out about 1.5 miles checking out a couple small islands and he was getting a couple strong wind advisers when out of no where he lost everything. We both sure he had lost it forever when after about ten minute that little drone found its way home. Very scary indeed.

I took my mini out today for the first time, was getting impatient of flying it indoors waiting for ideal conditions. UAV Forecast was suggesting 14kmph winds so I decided to just go for it. Headed out up to some moorland and had the drone up in the air for about 5 mins. Once I gained an altitude of about 20 meters I could see she was fighting to hold position. To make things worse, I hadn't checked my phone battery (I know) and the thing just died on me with the mini about 50 meters away and about 20 meters alt. To say I panicked is an understatement, RTH button was pressed which began to increase altitude (I had RTH alt. set to 50mtrs) so I took control, dropped it to about 3 meters and she limped back to me. Funny thing was, she didn't want to descend to the ground to land so I had to grab her out of the air from about 5 feet. This was a close call and I am worried now that I should only fly her in ideal conditions which is a shame as the forecast looks poor up here in yorkshire for the next few weeks at least. Thanks for the video, I will be paying much more attention in the future! You live and learn I guess.

While tilted flying forward the rear propellors get wash from from the front propellors. Fly backwards and all four propellors will see cleaner air. Also don't fly outdoors using the guards as they add a lot of drag.
I wonder if Mavic could be convinced to change the RTH algorithm to return home flying backwards if ground speed drops below a threshold.
