    So, using some nice video I took on my recent trip to Amalfi & Positano in Italy, I show how easy it is to multitask 😎
    Let me know of any other tips you use when flying to get more interesting video.

      Hello, me again, :-)
      On an unrelated subject to this. How difficult is it to travel with a drone as far as airport security goes? I am planning a trip to Hungary as well as Indonesia (my family is spread out)
      I would want to carry on my photo gear as far as bringing it with me, not checked luggage. I haven't traveled internationally in almost 20 years, but before then it was all the time so obviously, things have changed since then.
      Do you have any tips on what to bring/not to bring when you travel and how to do it?
      Could be an idea for a video! :-)
      Cheers,
      Greg

      @@quantumphaser Given my upcoming trip to the Canaries, you're right; maybe a simple quick video.... But in a nutshell, carry all the drone and batteries in your hand luggage. Lithium batteries are forbidden in most airline's checked baggage rules. Airport security is well used to drones and batteries in hand luggage.... Cheers, Ian

      My tip for getting interesting video is to use the "middle ground". Most pilots use a "higher-up-looking-down" approach. Currently I using a "higher-than-man-but-lower-than-high-up" technique as a way to get interesting video. I have not yet edited and posted all of these as I am still a novice at editing, but do have a few videos coming up. A teaser, it has to do with flying between natural objects creating "oh my" moments. Check out the link ruclips.net/video/G2S0yMj1_AM/видео.html at 1:17 and 1:28

    You are a natural instructor and very clear. I don’t wish to be pedantic but I know you would be open to a small correction. The word PAN only applies to left and right and there is no such thing as PAN up or PAN down. If you are moving your Gimbal you are in fact doing a TILT. So it is pan left and right; and tilt up and down. Similarly, as there is no pan up or pan down, there is no TILT left or tilt right. Pan Is horizontal swivel and Tilt is vertical swivel. :)

    • @IaninLondon
      @IaninLondon  4 года назад +1

      Thanks for the good words and yes, I've repeatedly told myself in editing to use pan and tilt correctly. Same with the use of the word Props when they're on the front of a plane and rotors are in top.... I'll try harder sir. 😀😉

    Here is a couple of suggestions I would like DJI to incorporate.
    1. In the "P" mode have ALL collision sensors turn on or make it in the menu what collision sensors you can activate. This would keep you from flying sideways in a tree.
    2. I would like to swap the settings in "LEFT" gimbal dial so I would rotate it to the "right" to point the camera down and rotate it "LEFT" to bring the camera back up.

    Awesome video once again Ian! I have a MA in which I've learned an enormous amount from you over this past year. Your P.O.I. tip for using Active Tracks Trace mode is a great one. I've used this boating which worked fairly well. I didn't know that you could focus/start on a stationary subject in this mode with the MA automatically circling. I was under the impression that the subject had to be moving. Learning something new all the time and your videos have been a large part of my learning experiences. I also want to mention, I purchased the PolarPro adjustable sticks a few weeks back. In a word "Awesome" I now have much better/slower movements for those cinematic moves. Thank you buddy!! Ray 👍😊

    Very useful.
    That application of Active track really got my attention as I've been trying to achieve that with stick-contortions only.
    The once or twice it worked well, I was left wondering how exactly I'd achieved it.
    More work needed.
    I think that the more that can be done by the pilot's input alone has to be a worthwhile target to aim for as moves can be segued in unbroken sequence without transitions to hide the "seams". In theory...😎

    Hey Ian, thanks for a great tutorial, it definately helped me with a few ideas.
    You mentioned how important editing can help me use jerky footage, what would you recommend as the minimum time of clean footage you'd use for a video, 2seconds? I guess it's a lot to do with personal preference too. Cheers P

    Another great video. you show the user interface of the dji air, right? With the M2P one does not see the options 'Smart Capture' and 'Tripod', right? Or maybe I have not the latest version? Anyway, your video is very helpful. I can directly implement what you show. Overwhelming performance!

      Hi Otmar. At 1:57 it's the Mavic 2 Pro. Rest of the App Screen shots (like 3:00) are indeed the Air. Cheers for the good words! 👍🏻👍🏻 Ian

    I am new to video editing. I find that creating clips from raw footage is a nightmare within the video editing software. My tactic now is to view the raw video first in my standard video viewing app and creating a series start stop points on paper. Then back to the editing software to pluck the clips I have penciled. I can now include the precise scenes to the finished product and my blood pressure is way down..

      Hi Robert. Maybe check your editing software for the use of 'shadow files' or 'proxy files'. Most editing packages have this function that generates lower resolution copies of the files whcih makes editing way easier for your PC. Then the raw 4k files are only used at the end when rendering the final output.
      Check out PowerDirector for a free trial; it has this function. Ian

    how are the rules in italy for flying drones? i suppose given the way they do things they are quite relaxed about it? lol

    • @IaninLondon
      @IaninLondon  5 лет назад

      Well, pretty much the same as elsewhere; stay away from buildings and people, hence most of this was shot over water. But in saying that, given Southern Italy's driving, I don't think there's much enforcement...😃😃

    Hi there Ian, thank you for a very informative video. However I'd like to know the absolute (pre-sets) yaw (left stick), gimbal and right stick settings for all the intelligent modes for the Mavic Air in order to work around those settings. Of particular interest is tripod and cinematic modes. Hopefully you will help.

    • @IaninLondon
      @IaninLondon  5 лет назад +1

      Hi again Hendrik. You can reset the camera and gimbal settings in the app and go through the various intelligent flight modes default settings. That's something i'lll happily pass over to you to do 😆😆 Cheers again! Ian

    Isn't there a way to turn the gimbal left and right instead of rotating the drone on the yaw axis?

    • @IaninLondon
      @IaninLondon  4 года назад

      Yes. This is the third axis on the Mavic Pro and 2 Pro.... You press and slide the screen... Maybe I should make a video on this feature as most don't know about it..

      I always link the music at the bottom of the video notes; it's either Epidemic Sound, or a track I have from SonicIslandSongs.com

    Nice and informative thank you. But on a separate subject I have a question. What are your thoughts on liability insurance for drones? is it worth it?

    • @IaninLondon
      @IaninLondon  5 лет назад

      Hey Jay. Yes, in a nutshell; given that you can get it for just £19 for the year, it may well help resolve a situation like accidentally landing on a car.... Here's the link.. Ian www.fpvuk.org/membership-benefits/

    I don't know how to do editing and I barely have time to upload my videos so all of my drone videos are just raw... I've got a ton of great footage but I just don't know how to put it all together and even if I did know I don't have the time to do it... So sad

    • @IaninLondon
      @IaninLondon  5 лет назад +1

      You're the second person mentioning this in 2 days.... I'll work on a basic editing video to put together some simple clips. You can make it as polished as you want, or just spend a few minutes trimming, cross-fading and putting some music to it..... A good video for me to work on as winter starts..... Cheers, Ian

    Hi Ian, do you know if its possible to reverse the controller on the gimbal tilt? im one of those people who used to have to switch on look inversion on FPS games, its just not instinctive, so whenever i try to tilt the camera up it goes down and vice versa
    thanks,

    • @IaninLondon
      @IaninLondon  3 года назад

      No, you defo can't alter the tilt wheel. I guess you'll just have to fly it everyday and get used to it.... 😀

    • @WillPreston3D
      @WillPreston3D 3 года назад +1

      @@IaninLondon thanks very much for getting back to me, i think i might write on the controller with a little arrow on the wheel, then i can glance down before starting my tilt,
      i always get it wrong at the moment

    Hi Ian,
    Do you have a vid or link to your recommendations 're Mavic Pro flicker in shadows and sharpness settings ?

    • @IaninLondon
      @IaninLondon  5 лет назад +1

      HI Carey. 'Fraid not; I've not done a video on sharpness settings; and not really experienced flickering in shadows, although in fairness I usually shoot high up and don't get many shadows..... Sorry can't help on this one. Ian

    What's the best Sd card for the Mavic pro

    • @IaninLondon
      @IaninLondon  5 лет назад

      Hi Gregg. Any micro SD card with a write speed over 80 Mbits/ s. You need a very fast write speed so it can write the data as you're recording it. I use 64Gb cards. Cheers, Ian
