I was a truck driver. Came in off the road. Wanted to relax. Backed my pick up into the back yard to hook up the boat. It was gone.Wife sold it. Said it sits for a month at a time. Told her So do you! Got rid of the wife and got a new boat.! Living happily ever after !!!
WOW Great Comment. It's almost worth tearing in all apart and doing it again😂 Seriously I do appreciate the comment and also thanks for watching my Video. Hope ya come back again sometime👊
Hey Thanks for the comment. Man I tell ya I wanted to do something and the more I looked the more I noticed Wood being Sawed. I thought it may be a gamble but I would attempt to post this and see how it goes. Wow all the support has been amazing and the comments are never ending. Hope ya come back and catch another Video👊
Man this is probably the best video on converted Jon boats on RUclips, I’ve been trying to get ideas on how to convert my Jon boat and this is perfect thanks
Hey Dylan it's funny cause I see your last comment first then your first. This comment is freaking AWESOME and made he other one look bad😂 Kidding... Man thanks Sooooo much I truly appreciate them both. Be safe my friend👊
You did an amazing job on this boat! My 15 year old son came across your video last summer and we decided to use it as a guide our conversion. So far we have painted the boat and completed the front and middle decks. We will keep you posted on our progress. We hope to launch by end of June. Thanks again for sharing!
I know this video is 2 years old but man, I am stealing this design 100%. Cleanest conversion I have seen. Also, "20 subs to 1,000" and now you're almost up to 6k! Keep putting out awesome content!
🤣 Believe it or not it still gets tons of views. This JB work out perfect and I still use it today. It stays covered and looks top notch still today👊 Thanks for watching.
You did a fantastic job on your boat I’m doing one now 14 foot Jon boat it’s a lot of work but I love doing stuff like that I really enjoy your channel I’m from Louisiana I get a lot of good ideas from you tube videos
Hey Randy. Thanks so much for the Comment. Easy to say Awesome comment. I truly enjoyed building now if I can just get it in the Water😂 Hope to hear from ya again...
Very much enjoyed your video " DIY Jon Boat to Bass Boat Conversion". Great information and appreciate you sharing the info with the fishing community. I am a recent retiree and live in a retirement community that has several lakes that are limited to boat size and less than 10 HP gasoline motor. Although, I know I will never compete with the professionals, this type fishing is something I can do and enjoy for many years. Keep up the good broadcasting, we appreciate you sharing your knowledge with us. I have every confidence that you will indeed make your goal of 1,000 happy subscribers very soon. Good luck and good fishing!
Hello R Farrow, Thank you very much for the time you took for the comment. I am glad you enjoyed this video but even more I am glad you are living in a community where you can enjoy the opportunity to do some fishing. You know I must say there is some value to reading your comment. I hope life is good to you my friend and may you be blessed.
You are a inspiration to every man with a flatbottom boat & a budget! I actully have the exzact same boat.i am currently gutting all the old stuff right now & doing a build like this.thanks.thats a dam good lookin boat.
WOW. What a comment Jay blue😁 I thank you for watching this video and please come back for another. I did a Video similar to answer some different questions and if ya need it then it's there in my collection. Again thanks so much for watching and keep me up to date on the build👊
@@take2fishing hey! I meant it man.cant everybody.including myself afford a new bass boat.plus here in arkansas the places i fish you need a smaller boat to get in & out.yea ill let you know how my build turns out! I cant wait.its almost fishin time.and my wife is actully pretty excited about my build.as she is ready to spend some time on the water with me as well.great video brother.i even showed it to my boss & hes wanting to start a project on his as well.im thinking of putting something on the sides of my boat to increase stability but not sure what im gonna use yet but ill let ya know! Stay safe out there.
Great comment and thanks for watching. I'll tell you if you get the time to trick one out than do it. What a fun little boat. Hope ya come back for another video 👊
Really nice looking finished project! I’m curious how much weight all the wood added. I noticed someone asked how much lower it sits in the water. When my father and I converted a 16-foot SeaArk tunnel hull jon boat, we used heavy-gauge aluminum (welded) for the front and rear decks and the floor. And instead of carpet used marine vinyl flooring. Set up was slightly different with a side console for running and just two high-back removable seats for fishing. (one front with trolling motor and one on back deck) But with an older 2-stroke 70 hp motor, could run inshore on a plane with half a crab trap showing. Man I miss that boat!
Hey sorry for the delay. Thanks so much for the great comment and watching this video. As life has been a challenge for a lot of us I'm back to recording and look forward to doing several videos this year.
😂😂😂 Man I tell ya I have gotten so much slack off Star Foam... But Dang man I was born in TN in 69 been here all my life and just lazy about talking😂 But Seriously thanks a ton for watching and for the comment annnnnd for not letting a sleeping dog lie😂
Hey Harold Fisher your just down the Road from me. I'm actually in Gallatin. There are plenty of them out there just gotta find the guy who wants to part with it. Anyway I appreciate ya watching this Video and also thanks for the Comment👊 Good Luck on your Build.
@@take2fishing You have that right about finding the guy who wants to part with it. (for less than $500) I'm even open to trades for my 2005 polaris Twister Kart.
You did an amazing job. I have been building boats for the last 3 years and have always been around boats and fishing since I was 5. I can relate with you on a lot of this. Built 4 boats already. However be careful because it's addicting and frustrating... A year ago I gave up at one point and found myself at Cabela's dropping 30k on a bass boat... Amen to the wives that let us do these things. We own 5 boats and I want more LOL
Hey Ya David V... Love the comment no doubt. Funny cause my friend has this boat that he got from BassPro in Nashville and I have been in it MORE than that Jon Boat. But I love his fishing Boat it is the one in my other Videos. I want that Boat....But not the Divorce. Thanks so much and hope to hear from ya again.
Hey Dick Felten. Man that's Awesome. Ya know I think a smaller JB converted would be even better. Now I don't know how stable but ya just have to be smart in the build. I am curious as to how this will turn out for ya. But I hope it's Sweetest. Thanks for watching and the comment👊
You did a great job on the modification, I did snatch a few ideas. Like you a watched a bunch of videos and tried to gleam from the best ideas. Thank you for the video..tight lines my friend.
Hello Mr Gary Mulgrew. Thanks for the GREAT comment. If you are building 1 for yourself I hope it goes smooth for you. I have always tried to study a bit before diving into something....Now but not as a Child haha. Hope you come around and watch another one of my videos. Be safe and Enjoy life😀
Excellent job on the boat I especially like the double seats in the back. I've got a 14-ft aluminum jon boat that I'm planning on modifying and I like those plastic swivel seats and I like how you raise the the seat level on the back.
Hey David McKinney and thanks for the GREAT comments. Man I hope you get something from this Video to use on your build and if so than AWESOME👊 Again thanks for watching and come back and let me know how your build went.
Beautiful job! Should be proud of your work. Thanks for sharing some great ideas. I have a new 1542 and am torn of how to make it ideal for both fishing and family cruising (20hp makes it scoot, troller helps my son and I pretend to catch fish). Might start with a rear deck like yours and some nice carpeted floor boards in middle and front like your middle section.
HEY Brad and thanks for watching this Video. Man what a great comment to read for sure. I like your Idea about a back deck to start. Once you've completed it you can take the boat out and see how it handles for you. Then think about your next move. But great idea to get what works best for you and family. Thanks for the comment👊
Hey Chris sorry for the delay RUclips has delayed comments for some reason. Hey I changed the Motor from a 10hp to a 15 hp Johnson and it is Dark Grey. The Motor is perfect and looks GREAT. Runs faster and shoots out of the hole now. I felt that the Mercury just wasn't doing the job. I will be doing another Video out of this boat soon. Sad to say I have not fished from it yet☹️ But that's about to change. Thanks for the comment and hope ya check back soon for another.
The results of the build are very good. You should prep and paint that trailer too. You would not only have increased its value, but you would have a really nice looking setup overall.
Man what a great comment. I had thought the same thing. A buddy of mine is going to Powder Coat it this Spring. Can't wait and Thanks so much Edmister for the comment. Hope ya come back around for another video soon😀
Hey thanks so much for watching this Vid. I for sure enjoy this little boat and the build turned out great . Awesome comment and good luck on your build.
Well yes.... Take the dang thing out more often😂 Man this build turned out great for me and I will say that 1\2 marine ply would have been my only other choice. But the deck is still strong. Nothing has come loose as of yet and I've been miles across the lakes. Thanks for the question👊
I had to run and find my Wife just to show her the comment lol. I think she is throwing me out. I'll just climb in a Window😂 But Hey Ticky the best comment to date👊 Thanks for watching.
You know Michael, I have yet to fish from this boat. It is kinda sad to think I have a great JonBoat and yet I have not used it. But when you make YT videos it's never easy to make a video that gets everyone's attention. I try my best to mix things up BUT I will do my best to make my next video from this JonBoat ...Thanks so much for the comment and keep checking back for that video😀
Do you have a video on the electrical hook up? Love the boat!!!! I'm doing what you did. But mine is a deep V that my buddy just didn't want anymore and I basically stole it too. Lot's of work to make the trailer road safe, and now it's the boat's turn.
Hey Bee Bob you can email me at Take2Fishing@gmail.com and I'd be more than happy to try to answer your questions. Thanks for watching and for the comment.
Hey Steve Riggs. I appreciate the Comment for sure and thanks so much for watching this Video. I'll be doing a Video soon of Fishing from a Stolen Boat😂😂😂 Again thanks so much👊
About to purchase a 14’ Jon boat and have been looking at several builds and this one is by far my favorite! Would love to have a step by step in detail build log if possible
Hey K Selby, Thank you for your comment for sure. When I built this Jon Boat out I knew there would be a lot of time to finish this project the way I wanted it. I watched a lot of videos to give me ideas but nothing really popped out at me. I didn't want to bore a bunch of people with cutting wood and painting so I got all of the work out of the way and did the video to keep the attention of viewers. I am glad you liked the way it turned out. I added a 15 horse motor to it and ditched the 4.5 I had on it and it flies...Thanks for Watching...
Hey Jonathan and I appreciate the comment no doubt. Man the Dorado is SWEET. I almost bought one but I was hung up on the 13.5 like Love at first sight😂 Thanks for the Jon Boat comment as well. I loved the build and the end product was perfect for me. Hope ya come back and watch another sometime and be Safe👊
I've got a question for you brother. How did you mount the front seat? Is it mounted to factory jon boat bench, or to the new plywood deck? Best conversion I've seen yet. Thanks
Hey Josh thanks so much for the Awesome comment. Viewers like yourself that leave that type of comment make doing this fun. Thanks for watching and I hope to hear from you again.
Awesome video! I have been wanting to do a Jon Boat - Bass Boat Conversion for a while. I have watched many videos and done a lot of research and this might be the nicest boat I have seen!
Hey Zac thanks so much for the great comment. Just like you I took my time and did my homework. I can truly say I am glad I did. I hope that ya was able to take something away from this video to use for your build and if so then Awesome... I hope ya come back again for another video in the future. Oh btw as bad as I have to say it I have failed to do a on the water video review and some fishing from this JB but it's on the way soon. Thanks again Zac and be safe👊
Wow this looks so nice! You did a great job. It’s probably the way to go if you have the skills and the time to do it. I’m sure you saved a lot of money by DIY and not spending all the money on an expensive boat.
Hey R R I appreciate the Comment and also ya watching this Video. Seemed like when I got to the decking that's when the challenge began. Being able to get everything the way I wanted and not being overwhelmed at the same time. At the end of the project I looked at it and I thought to myself there was nothing I would have done different. Thanks again R R and hope ya come back for another.
Take2Fishing my grandpa has an old jon boat that we have been thinking about doing this to, and this video gave me some inspiration for the design . I’m gonna show him this video and I subscribed .
Great question. I put a 15hp onboard then ya have a fuel tank in the back which is only a two gallon fuel cell then the small Platform. So I placed the Battery as close to the front as I could to offset some of the weight. This JB gets out of the hole in a snap and planes out super. Thanks again for the question and for watching.
just picked up 14 foot flat bottom row boat, love your layout and you have given me some great direction thank you very much and great job. one question ..where are the batteries?
Hey Awesome for you. I actually placed my Battery just behind the first seat under that square cover you see up front. This helped shift some of the weight to the front. Hope this helps and thanks for the great comment and for watching.
I had bought a 14/36 rigging for hunting. I had problems with long tail motors I was using and ended up with my 3rd one. To large for the boat! I ended up flipping and lost several hundred $$$ worth of gear. Well got a larger boat for long tail. Now hunting is closed so back to fishing, trying to rig my yak... Well I have this 14/36 and a 2.5 motor. It will work BUTTTT so boaring to put put with it. I found a new non current 8 HP motor and am working on getting it rigged. I have new trolling motor coming. Bimini top coming, working on deck and such so any help I would like. Your video was some help.
Glen Wood I don't know where to start🤔 Dang fist off I'm glad ya left a Comment that meant ya survived a near fatal. All that stuff can be replaced but Man think for a Second......Your here. I will be honest I started with a 9hp and now have a 15hp with some hop ups added. It runs about 18MPH but I'm ok with the putt putting most of the time. It sounds like your on track to building something great and I wish you the best in getting it done. Be safe on the Water Brother and thanks for watching and the comment👊
Very nice. Just wondering what's the purpose of styrofoam inside the boat under the decking? The boat floats because of the shape, not because the material itself floats. Is it more of a sound barrier so the aluminum sounds don't scare the fish?
Well Andy to be honest. The Manufacturing Co will add Styrofoam in the cavities of the seat to increase buoyancy and to decrease the amount of water the vessel can take on. This is how a Vessel is rated. Myself I added Styrofoam as a sound barrier and when placed under Wood or Subflooring and attached properly it will aid in the same purpose. Thanks for the comment and for watching.
It floats as long as it’s upright and not filled with water. Boats sometimes get upside down in the water. That’s when you are glad for every ounce of flotation.
Hey thanks for the tip. I have a battery there now it's just the narrowness of the beam at the front that creats that wobble and being up so high. I may try your idea and just see what happens. Great idea for sure it will help tuck that beam down a little deeper.
Hey Charles Hill, I appreciate ya watching this Video for sure. I tell ya a fever to convert a Jon Boat is a High Fever😂 But glad to hear it. Good luck getting the cure completed for your fever and thanks for the comment.
For anybody looking to do this I would suggest you get as wide a boat as your budget allows. You see folks doing 14x36 boats and I can tell you from experience those boats are very tippy and wobbly and can be easily considered dangerous when you get those high decks on them. You heard him say himself his boat is very wobbly.
i live in selmer tn and i have trouble finding a good deal on my budget, im an irac vet and i cant get out there and hunt for deals so i got the internet but not really working, i loved your vid man and if i had alot of subs i would tell everyone to go to your channel, you really make people want to do that to there boat and like i said if i had one id do it today, keep going bro you never know whos watching these vids. thanks man, if not just for the dream of having one
1st off SIR...THANK YOU FOR GIVING AND SERVING FOR US ALL🙌👊🇺🇸...You are a Awesome. Next I'd like to say I was lucky to have found this boat at the price I got it for and only wanted the trailer for my Kayak. But as you know some Men just can't be happy without spending money😂 My Wife knows everything😂 But seriously. I thought I got it and should just do it. Make it a Boat I could enjoy for going out and just fishing from. I didn't have any reasons to spend big money on a Bass Boat like others. So here ya go...My dream boat. You keep your eyes open and the deal will come. I promiss. People like you deserve it and I hope it happens for you. Thanks so much for the comment and for watching. I'll be keeping an eye out for you to come back with a comment in the future that says I GOT MY BOAT👊 GOD BLESS YOU.
@@take2fishing you was right bro 400 dollars for a small bass boat with a 55 hp motor and you said it, its not pretty right now but it will when im finish with it, ill take pictures before and as i put it together, god bless ya man and thank you
Hey William Thanks for watching and I do hope your build turns out to be GREAT for you. Tell the WIFE AKA BOSS LADY to go easy on ya...And Kudos to her if she does...
Great Job Man,,!!!!🌎🇺🇸🦅💦🍃🐠 reminds me of when my brother & I built one out of a 14’ Sears Gamefisher, back in about 1982.💦 bought the boat from Sears, @ there scratch & dent warehouse,,, a scratched jon boat.. I can work with that...🌎🇺🇸🦅💦💦🌴🏝🐊. Thank’s for sharing such a sweet build,,,!!!! Very Nice... 👍
Hey Robert Sharp, What an Awesome story...Taking a step back in time to simply remember a moment ya accomplished something great like that. Man Sears...Seriously that's Awesome. Robert thanks for watching and sharing that with me and I hope someone else sees this and thinks COOL.
Hey Alex and thanks for the question. After all was said and done with this build I was able to determine my weight limit and found it was around 190 to be safe. I truly caution anyone to be aware of limits and you bring up a great comment. Hope this helps and thanks a ton for watching.
To be honest to much😂 No really I wanted to build out a great Jonboat and I invested $700 on the boat. I upgraded the Motor and that's another $1100 then the build cost around $1000 oh the trolling Motor was $500 and depth finder was $400😂 Yup as I said waaaay to much. But I am super pleased about this build and it runs great on the water. Hope this helps and thanks so much for watching this video.
i saw a white reflector on the rear of the jon boat, it that the law. i am asking because i'am buying a Polar Kraft 1436 jon boat and it has 2 red reflectors. by the way you did a great job
Hey I appreciate the comment for sure. To answer your question in TN it is not the Law to reflector the boat but it must have front and rear navigation lights. As far as the trailer it has to have signals and brake lights. Anything else is just an extra. Thanks for watching and for the comment.
Thank you for sharing this video. You have helped me tremendously with my own build plans. A few questions: Can you please tell me where you decided to put the batteries and why? Font /Back / middle? Are you happy with the accessibility of them?
jacob32 Dang great question. So if you noticed I have a 15hp on the back and 2 Seats. If 2 of us are at the back moving around on the water sitting in the seats and you add the larger Motor, 5 gallons of Fuel, 2nd Passenger that's a lot of weight at the rear of the boat. So the Battery is more center of the boat. Why? Offsetting that weight a little I noticed the Boat planes out faster and When I fish alone and I'm on the front deck not a Problem. I hope this helps and again Great Question...
Hey Jacob32. I just have the 1 Battery dead Center. There is another Battery Box up front in case I decide to add another but for now I just have it stored there. And this Battery should last a full day or longer. Hope this helps👊
Hey Jamie and Thanks for the comment. I truly enjoyed building this JB and can't wait to get it out and fish from it for the first time. Sadly I have not done this as of yet. But it's coming😁
Hey Mr Brad Dobbs. Thanks for the comment for sure...When I planned My build I pretty much had my mind made up to place 2 seats at the rear deck. It has been 1 of the better choices I made. Thanks for watching this Video and hope you come back for another .
Hey Macs gone fishing and thanks for the question. The answer would be NO! Zero issues rather at the front or rear of the Boat. The controller can be a tad sensitive but after working it a few times I have found the sweet spot for operation. Thanks for watching this video and hope ya come back for another.
About how much weight does all of that wood, carpet, etc add to the boat? Does being that high above the original deck make it unstable for fishing? I'm thinking about doing the same with my 14' Tracker jon boat.
Hey Ten Two. Man your Tall😂 Great questions...If I had to guess I have added 250lbs Max. As I stated in the Video being that the Casting deck is 14 inches above the floor and it is a 14' JB it does seem to be a TAD unstable at the nose. But I placed my pedestal seat over the top of the original seat location so it is perfect. I can stand or sit and fish in the general area of that Butt seat. Now the back deck even with the Motor there is very stable. Would I change anything? NO I enter from the front all the time and have no problems. Am I uncomfortable in the front? Not at all and love it. I hope this helps. PS I'm 5-11" and 180lbs this may give you an idea.
Absolute best jon boat conversion on RUclips! Sure, Tiny Boat Nation guys do nice work but it’s too complicated and too costly. This is gold!!! Way to go my friend, respect and slight jealousy from Upstate SC...
Hey Paul, Man I had to get up out of the floor just now because I fell over. No I'm ok😂 Man what an Awesome comment and I have had a lot of them lately so I feel privileged to get this one for sure. Thanks Paul for watching this Video and I hope you come back sometime for another Video...Thanks friend and be Safe👊
Hey James Roberts thanks for the Comment. RUclips was not showing comments on my end so I seen it by Chance. I am sorry for the delay. But HEY Thanks truly for the comment on the build and hope you come back for another Video. Tight lines to ya👊
Hey Jacob and thanks for the comment. I didn't place a piece of foam in the very back where the fuel cell is simply for that reason. I have washed this boat out a few times and the water seems to travel pretty good to the rear of the boat. When someone asks a question and ya have to really think a moment it's a good one😂 Hope this helps and hope ya come back for another some time.
First off, sweet build. This is simple, clean and functional. Is the framing secured to the boat itself? I saw where you attached the deck to the frame but did not mention the frame to the boat?
Hey thanks for the question. Yes the verticals all are secured with 90 degree supports with screws placed in the ribs of the boat. Thanks for watching this video👊
Dang. I was hoping this question would not come up😂😂😂 But anyway NO😂 I have the boat setting under a cover and just looking pretty and still waiting to take it out. Making Baits has kept me so busy it's hard to find the time needed to just GO FISHING. Man your making think way to hard. I'm trying to figure out why I haven't done it yet. But I will get it out and do a video and if your wondering I did do a stability test and Motor check to see how it would do on the water and I was crazy happy. Thanks for the comment.
Hey Austin. Here is what you do. Build you a frame. Next get Cardboard and lay it on top acting as if it was the deck ok. Then lay that on 2 pc' s of Ply Wood to get the correct deck size. Next paint the Ply Wood with Oil base and let it dry. Then get a large enough piece of Carpet to cover both peaces of Wood. Next lay the Carpet on hard surface and coat the back of the Carpet with carpet glue. Lay the ply on it as needed. Let it set to dry. Next Cut and fold and staple carpet as needed then....Get 3 people to help you lay the carpeted ply wood in the boat on frame. Next screw down wood to frame. BAM YOU NOW HAVE A SOLID DECK. NO ONE WILL EVER KNOW. Just be sure to paint with Oil base to keep wood from rotting. Hope this helps and this is how we did my friends and it's perfect.

Nice. I’m looking for something like that I think. Good video. I subscribed. Looking forward to more how to stuff.
Hey sorry for the delay. Thanks so much for the great comment and watching this video. As life has been a challenge for a lot of us I'm back to recording and look forward to doing several videos this year.
I bought a bass raider 10e. Getting it all set. Can’t wait for spring. Happy fishing buddy.
Yep, this is the best jon boat build I have seen. You did everything right.
I want to build a jon boat but i saw yours and was blown away. Sure is sweet.
Hey Arthur thanks. I never expected to get so many great comments such as yours from this build. But no doubt I appreciate it. Thanks for watching👊
Awesome job!! Just completed mine! I also used star foam!
@@take2fishing got a lot of great ideas from your build, so thank you for sharing! Love these jon boat conversions!
Nice setup. Now it's my turn now I just need to find my boat here in Nashville TN. Tired of fishing off the bank.
I really enjoyed watching how you did your build. It gives me ideas for a layout.
Hey Gilbert,
That's Awesome... I appreciate you watching and hope your build goes GREAT😀
If there is anything I can help you on just ask.
Home depot has 3/4 marine grade plywood sheets. The glue is rated to not dissolve when wet.
Right now it’s only 1200 bucks a sheet!

Really NICE job!! I am planning to do this to my 12 ft model.
Be safe and Enjoy life😀
This look great I'm going to try it on my boat first-time build!
Your boat idea is the best ...it’s thoughts is perfect👌 ..
Oh yeah!!!Well your comment was freaking Awesome👊 Seriously I appreciate your comment and for watching. People like you make Videos happen.
@@take2fishing I sure will
Beautiful job!
Paint the motor and really kick it off... Awesome job I just believe the motor needs that love too and it really be shining!!
Wow, thats a nice rig!!! Would love to see that build from start to finish. Can't wait to get mine going here in a few months!!!
Hey thanks so much for watching this Vid. I for sure enjoy this little boat and the build turned out great . Awesome comment and good luck on your build.
Anything you would change now? Like the cabinet wood, storage location, foam etc.
Well yes.... Take the dang thing out more often😂 Man this build turned out great for me and I will say that 1\2 marine ply would have been my only other choice. But the deck is still strong. Nothing has come loose as of yet and I've been miles across the lakes. Thanks for the question👊
Very nice work. Looks amazing. Thank you for sharing.
Hey Donald and thanks for the comment and for watching. I hope you come back for another sometime.
Awesome video! Gonna be building my John boat similar to yours !

I like that country song also...!
Brad Paisley the fishing song..!
exactly! screw all that "if your wife allows you" nonsense.
Looking forward to seeing videos of you fishin in this boat!
You know Michael,
I have yet to fish from this boat.
Slick boat! Yes, you stole it! Love the way it turned out!
Take2Fishing thanks for the response do you have any pics or anything from when you were doing the layout and framing?
@@kselby5529 Yes I do. If you email me at take2fishing@aol.com I'll send you what I have😀
Hi William.
Love the boat. I noticed that upgraded to put a 15hp on the other video. How fast does it go with the 15hp.
Thanks, Lance
Only thing I would change is the back seating configuration.
Got any pics of the boat without the carper deck.. so I can see how to build the shell. Thank you.
Go to the Very end of the Video.

Wow! I want to get a job boat for my wife and i , and your set up is exactly the plan I had in mind. Funny I also have a feel free dorado.
Thanks
Sorry for the delay. I actually built a wood support on top of the manufacturers set and it worked out perfectly...Super sturdy.
Nice and clean, good job

Take2Fishing how long is the boat ?
It's 14" Long.
Any logical reason for placing the battery in the front vs the back seats? Weight distribution? Great build.
Glen Wood I don't know where to start🤔
Dang fist off I'm glad ya left a Comment that meant ya survived a near fatal.
Nice Clean Rig! Love the setup too.
Hey J Foster thanks I appreciate the comment. Straight to the point👊
Very good job to help you with the wobbly in the front of the boat 50 lb bag of sand in the bottom in the front of the boat it will help to stabilize
Hey thanks for the tip. I have a battery there now it's just the narrowness of the beam at the front that creats that wobble and being up so high. I may try your idea and just see what happens. Great idea for sure it will help tuck that beam down a little deeper.
Awesome Build my friend Looks great 👍
Hey John Morgan I appreciate the comment and also thanks for watching this Video. Hope ya come back around for another sometime.
here in Florida in the middle of summer those hatch hinges will leave nice scars if stepped on. Could have hid the hinges underneath
Inspirational and awesome! I’ve got the fever for sure...!
Hey Charles Hill,
I appreciate ya watching this Video for sure.

I have one. Problem is weight capacity of how much you can put on. Super nice Jon Boat 👍🏼
Hey Alex and thanks for the question. After all was said and done with this build I was able to determine my weight limit and found it was around 190 to be safe. I truly caution anyone to be aware of limits and you bring up a great comment. Hope this helps and thanks a ton for watching.

can u link what boat seat mounts you used. the ones you have mounted on the bench seat? that would be awesome.
That is beyond nice!!! I want it but how much do you have in this build???
To be honest to much😂 No really I wanted to build out a great Jonboat and I invested $700 on the boat. I upgraded the Motor and that's another $1100 then the build cost around $1000 oh the trolling Motor was $500 and depth finder was $400😂 Yup as I said waaaay to much.
But I am super pleased about this build and it runs great on the water. Hope this helps and thanks so much for watching this video.
What size wires did you run for all your running lights and trolling motor and all that electronic stuff
i saw a white reflector on the rear of the jon boat, it that the law. i am asking because i'am buying a Polar Kraft 1436 jon boat and it has 2 red reflectors. by the way you did a great job
@@take2fishing Thank you for your response. Do you have both batteries in the big center hatch up front, behind the electronics panel, or other?
Hey Jacob32. I just have the 1 Battery dead Center. There is another Battery Box up front in case I decide to add another but for now I just have it stored there.
And this Battery should last a full day or longer. Hope this helps👊
That is a great looking job boat. Also the price was great. It was a steal...

Just bought my 1436 jon boat and looking forward to tricking it out
How much lower does the boat sit in the water with the additional weight you've added? This is a beautiful conversion. Well done
I like the way you have two seats in the back smart thinking
Hey Mr Brad Dobbs. Thanks for the comment for sure...When I planned My build I pretty much had my mind made up to place 2 seats at the rear deck. It has been 1 of the better choices I made. Thanks for watching this Video and hope you come back for another .
How did you fasten the front trolling motor deck to the gunnel of the boat?
That's a great job! Do you have any problem with the foot pedal sliding on the carpet?
Hey Macs gone fishing and thanks for the question.
The answer would be NO!
Zero issues rather at the front or rear of the Boat. The controller can be a tad sensitive but after working it a few times I have found the sweet spot for operation. Thanks for watching this video and hope ya come back for another.
@@take2fishing Thanks! I definitely will!
You have just started your own BUSINESS buddy cause that boat is AWESOME. I see much money in your future!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks Mr Chad Pennington.
I'm hoping all my Money comes from making Baits...if not I may be in trouble😀😀😀
NO
I enter from the front all the time and have no problems. Am I uncomfortable in the front? Not at all and love it. I hope this helps. PS I'm 5-11" and 180lbs this may give you an idea.
Great video nice looking boat men
Hey Alonso thanks so much for the GREAT comment. Also thanks for watching hope you come back for another.
Absolute best jon boat conversion on RUclips! Sure, Tiny Boat Nation guys do nice work but it’s too complicated and too costly. This is gold!!! Way to go my friend, respect and slight jealousy from Upstate SC...

Does having the 2 seats in the back mess with using the tiller motor if there 2 people in the seats?
Nice build brother.
Hey James Roberts thanks for the Comment. RUclips was not showing comments on my end so I seen it by Chance. I am sorry for the delay. But HEY Thanks truly for the comment on the build and hope you come back for another Video. Tight lines to ya👊
How does it do In the rain? Does it drain good with the foam in the bottom of the boat?
Just got me one. Time to get to painting
Nice boat, where did you get that anchor winch?
Have you done a video fishing out of this boat?
I wish I could build a deck on mine. I just cant seem to find plywood wide enough for my jon boat.
Amazing build! I am working on my 14 ft. Lowe L1436L at the moment. Where did you get the anchor lift system in the back? Thanks!
If I'm not mistaken it came from Cabela's. It was on there Website and is a great system. Thanks for the question and for watching.
