  • With this tracker 1542 I can launch nearly anywhere and catch bass that are virgin and eager to bite! I can fish 3 people for it's stable. With the tricked out trolling motor I can go about 5 miles with one battery. Along with the special rudder, front deck and anchoring system, it really gets the job done!

Two years later this motor is going strong ruclips.net/user/postUgkxBZWgzfpS2Jj7JqIHyaSZjyVHNUgCKCBf Just uploaded a video of it after 2 years. We use it probably a dozen days each year on our small raft.-original review- We got this motor the other day and tested it out. I don't have anything to compare it to, but it seems good to me. It has all the features advertised - the motor housing is metal. We will see how it performs longer term and I will revise this review if needed. Some initial observations:- Good thrust, moves our boat around really well- It comes with a circuit breaker but no switch - so there's no way to kill the motor other than yanking the connection off the battery. I installed an inline switch.- The mount bracket is plastic and I worry it might break- There are a number of plastic parts that I worry about, but the most important ones are metal or some kind of composite

Love it. Simple. Not much in frills. Keeps the weight down and gets you out there! I am looking to get an aluminum Jon boat, for now I have a little craw dad that I haven’t taken out yet but soon, and I hope to get to all the spots I couldn’t. Thanks for the videos and inspiration. I will probably use that anchor system as I have about 75lbs of lead and I like how simple and do it yourself it is.

Your energy is equal to people half your age. I have been fishing for 55 years and still get just as excited each time I go, so understand where you are coming from. Thanks for all the wonderful fishing adventures you have shared with me over the years.

A lot of big-name anglers would like you to believe that fishing is extremely complicated. When it gets down to it, there is a lot of common sense, mixed with some science. Rowland Martin is successful because of his ability to keep things simple, yet understand the science behind what makes fish eat. This example of his simple rig gets him on the water where very few other anglers tend to go. Fishing waters that have no fishing pressure gives him an edge on catching these fish. Keeping things as simple as possible yet understanding the science of big fish are likely traits that have made Rowland the legend in fishing that he is today.

The world of Bass Fishing owes a debt of gratitude to you Mr. Martin, for revolutionizing the sport. You sharing your wisdom in this format and bringing tips to the real world weekend, after work, fisherman is refreshing. You don't need an $80K bass rig to catch em. The best bass fishing to be had is in a quiet pond or canal from a jon boat. BTW if someone made a movie or documentary of your life I would watch it.

I have been fishing in the U.P. off of a 1436 jon boat for years. Everything from rivers, to inland lakes, to Lake Superior on a calm day. Everything from blue gills and walleyes to trout and salmon. Can't beat a jon boat you can just throw in the back of a truck and go. I don't want the headache of a big boat, rather have a friend with a big lake boat.

Getting myself a 1542 very soon for a winter project. I've built several tin boats over the years from simple to full on bassboat. Sadly selling my ProCraft hopefully this season if not in the Spring. To put it simply new or used full sized trucks are just out of my price range now that I'm retired. Not to mention the smaller boat is easier for me to handle on my own after too many surgeries too. I like that that model is rated for up to 25hp as well, should scoot right along if I decide to put an OB onto it. Plus my daily driver car can easily tow this thing on a lightweight trailer, saves me a ton of money and an extra vehicle. I just want to bass fish and these seem to fit everything I'm looking for. Thanks for the video.

Love to see a "hybrid" setup, imagine adding a small gas 1hp motor/generator/alternator as a battery charger. if you need to travel more distance, you just crank up the gasser. a 25lb motor with a 1/2 gallon of gas should run a good few hours and increase your range.
