Perfect Boat setup ! I had 16's with 40 Horse motors but they were always "overkill" for the lakes near me. I live right by Lake Michigan, but a 16 is to big for me to store (no room in garage), and heavy and awkward. Been thinking of a Tracker 14 or 1542 since I been without a boat for a boat 10 years and started fishing again. (Retired now). I have a nice 9.9 Merc. in the garage, just need a boat to go with it. Next spring for sure. Trackers are decent, and price is really good. I agree with the "no fishing platform. My old 16 tracker I had had a nice platform for fishing, it was a V16 boat. The platform was kind of "low". It didn't make the boat feel unstable standing on it. I see a lot of people turn their Jon boat into a "Bass Boat". I'm not thrilled about sitting so high on the platform, easy to tip out or forget and walk off the edge in my opinion. Flat floor with this type of boat is perfect. If i had that trilor I would try and weld a longer 2 foot tongue on it to extend it and possibly make it a "swing away tongue" to save room in the garage. (mine) Great boat ! Simple, and easy to handle
I have been fishing for 60 plus years believe me less is more. you are all set with the way you have it. as well as the trailer if anything have 2ft added to the front you will have much less chances of the back rusting off.
Great info! Been looking into one of these or one similar, the not concern I have is weight capacity for persons always says 250-350 and I’m like 280 alone, and I’d want to take my kids or a friend etc. what’s your thoughts on the advertised weight capacity vs you can comfortably have onboard? Thanks for all your content man!
Thanks for all the info! Your videos have been very helpful and given me some ideas as a new boat owner. I just purchased a 14' jon boat with a 9.9 Mercury in need of some upgrades and will be fishing lakes and generally smaller bodies of water. From your experiences, would you recommend a 3 gallon or 6 gallon fuel tank?
Awesome! Glad I could help. Congrats on the new boat. I run up and down on the river for days before I need to fill my 3 gallon tank up. Mine’s a 4-stroke
Did you find that your motor sinks too much into the water with your set up ? My set up is almost the same as you with the same motor and I have to mount a Jack plate to my transom in order to remount the motor in a taller position
The way you rigged your jon boat is the best way to go! Building decks and platforms looks nice but adds too much weight for these little boats and motors. Your trailer is too small but should handle the light boat fine. These small, light simple boats are great but if you want decks and platforms get a bigger boat and motor that comes that way.
The 15 carb will not turn it into 15 hp they are not the same engine the 9.9 is 208cc the 15 is 351cc....same block as the old 20 h.p. Dont waste your money.
thanks for sharing..:) nice and clean boat. have a great summer...lol ps...that thing sure flies with that motor

hell yea! yea I think I'm just going to add some floor but no decks
Nice catch at the end !
I had a jetski trailer on my 1436. I just got a longer piece of box steel to extend the tongue, then moved the winch bar up farther, fit great.
Yea that’s what I need to do for sure. Did you weld it on?
Thanks homie, good info.
🤘
Man I would love one of those!
They are very affordable
I just cut some outdoor carpet and glued it down to the floor with gorilla glue, it makes it a lot nicer to walk around on.

Look into kitchen floor mats with the holes. Cut to your boat spec for floor.
Yeah I was thinking about those

Sweet set up! How does it handle the bigger water? I need a bayou runner.
I’ve had her in some 3footers. It actually did surprisingly well.
I had my 12ft tracker on a jetski one. Kinda Hella sketch
It’s been working good for me for 2 years now. Just drove it 12 hours on the highway
I want to go fishing
