    My friend works at Tatsu and he's pretty close with the maintenance guys. He says that besides staffing, another reason they don't like to run Side 2 at Tatsu is because it gives more errors than Side 1. Personally, I think that has to do with when Tatsu's computer caught fire in 2021. I remember that day. It was back when I still worked at the park. I was taking my Revolution certification test and all of a sudden there was a big commotion with the supervisors and a lot of talk about Tatsu on the radios. Obviously, staffing is another big issue there but for that and for Superman, they are plagued with lots of maintenance problems

    I 100% agree with getting rid of those comfort collars. I don't think these are much of an issue for shorter riders, but since I'm 6'1, those things really ruin whatever ride I'm on, and I know people around my height also really don't like these. I know it sounds like a petty fix, but it would definitely improve the experience for a lot of people.

    • @thedalekditto15
      @thedalekditto15 6 месяцев назад +3

      Hell nah it is horrible when shorter. I am 5’8 and it headbangs unless you hold it awkwardly down the whole time. The track is smooth as full throttle, but yet it managed to be the third most uncomfortable ride in the park for people tall enough for neck slaps or short enough for ear slaps. Makes me dislike the awesome High five element purely based on the collars (X2 is first or second based on seat, and riddler swaps based on x2.
      Comfort collars are just a horribly flawed design that the gp dislikes as much as thusies. They only benefit the insurance rates of a park in my opinion

      No, when you are short, they also hurt. When I first rode ice breaker the year it opened, I was not even 5 foot yet, and it HURT. Back, they rattled around your ears and head, or forward, it really rubbed against your neck.

      @stephaniesuthers5635 6 месяцев назад +3

      I’m 5’1 and I despise comfort collars. I rode Ice Breaker, before the collars were removed, and Tigris at BGT, and they were both one and done for me. I couldn’t enjoy the them because I spent the entire ride trying to hold the collars down to keep them from chopping me in the neck and ears.

    I do agree about Viper. The last time I rode it was back in 2009 and my head was playing pinball between those restraints. I swear that ride cleared out my sinuses because my nose was constantly running throughout the rest of the day.
    Tatsu is the big reason why I have to wear a good sports bra almost every time I go to Magic Mountain. It seriously isn't the most comfortable when you are on the break run laying on your chest.
    I'm OK with the shoulder restraints on Superman. They are there to keep riders safe and secure on the ride, and I don't think Six Flags wants to get into hot water with CAL/OSHA over it. Maybe instead of just going to a lap bar on the backwards side, maybe consider vest restraints like the ones on Riddler Revenge at Six Flags New England.

    1:40 There is an easy extension possible with just simply extending out the brake run track U-turn by ~15-25ft. The buffer wall to the path is ~20ft thick. They could shrink this down and add better sound damping. Also possible to bump out the buffer wall and relocate that candy store to keep the path wide enough. Any distance extended would also add that much on the other side the U-turn for some brakes as well, you get double the extension in track length, would be enough to at least get the brakes off of the drop.

    Here’s what I would do to the Batman ride:

    • @DoswarePictures
      @DoswarePictures 6 месяцев назад +3

      Not since The Dark Knight Coaster has Six Flags themed a coaster directly to a DC movie. Sure they might tie in, like SFGAM Batman for Returns, Mr. Freeze for Batman & Robin, Joker for Suicide Squad, and Wonder Woman GLC for Wonder Woman (2017). My guess is that they have to pay WB extra.

  • @605coasters

    Making the drop on Goliath steeper is really the only thing it would need if you ask me, save for adding another helix like Titan has. If they wanna tear down a ride entirely, Superman maybe cause its so boring and overrated all you go is up in the air and down, and fast.

    I agree on Goliath and I'd add height so that the drop itself had a more peaked profile and that'd give you more airtime and speed. Plus I'd take that turn around and bank it outward. With the extra speed from the talked drop that turnaround become an airtime moment and possibly a very good one.
    Full Throttle: you're 100%. I have nothing to add.
    Superman: here's my fantasy. Make it a flying coaster and you launch out then do a fly to lie and climb up the tower.
    X2: make it smooth always

  • @psychopompinc.646
    @psychopompinc.646 6 месяцев назад +1

    Definitely in agreement on Viper. Just needs a touch of TLC, new trains would do wonders for it.
    Goliath: I'd add height to change the drop angle to make it steeper. If not that, fix the trim and make it closer to what it was when it opened and was more insane.
    Scream needs theming. Badly.
    Wonder Woman, since I don't really have an issue with the restraints, I'd also add theming to it to create some head-chopper moments.
    Gold Rusher: Build a mine themed tunnel over the final helix.
    Full Throttle: Just finish building the ride.
    Twisted Colossus: I would extend the back half of the layout, because A.) It's a fun ride and I'd love more of it, and B.) it would give more time to load the next train for a guaranteed duel. Barring that, I agree with you that stopping the train is the best option.

    The reason Superman has OTSR's is because of the backwards launch. If it overshoots the brakes (like if there was a power outage) the LSM stators would act as weak eddy current brakes. It has a fixed set of much more powerful eddy current brakes past the station that will stop it really abruptly if it does this. They don't want people getting thrown forward, so they have those.
    They could probably take them off on the forwards side. I don't really see much of a problem with them though, because they basically act as lap bars as the track is straight and the shoulder harnesses don't even touch your shoulders.
    Great video!

    I just went to magic mountain and I agree with most of your choices There are three that I dont' agree with though. First of all Batman needs more themeing and landscape, because I found it depressing because it looked like a bunch of random cement and no landscape at all. Second riddlers revenge. The park already has a looper and I would say that the main point of the coaster being there is for it to be a stand up. I think Riddler's revenge needs better restraints such as the restraints that are comfy like the ones on floorless coasters. Third I think scream needs more left turns. I rode it one time and I chose the spot on the far left and I was disappointed because the right side looked like it would be more fun and there were no left turns.

    Also never really hear much about Magic Flyer, looks like a mall food court coaster. I wonder if the height restraint is due to weight, that train looks seriously precarious for flat lats. I have no doubt it can safely handle a train of adults, the wear and tear on the physical system probably rises exponentially with heavier loads

    For West Coast Racers, I'd change the timing so that the wait before the second lap was shorter. I notice they don't start boarding until the other train finishes the lap. If they consistently ran 3 trains or had some way to speed up boarding, they could make this part less of a buzzkill.

    7:25 Gold Rusher's restraints are my favorite. Maybe get a modern train with a seat divider because those restraints are free like a buzz bar.
    10:34 It is impossible for people to see you due to the doors and the proximity makes it hard to see, which I will get into what I want to see the view of myself for the next one
    11:58 I want to see myself on the ride with a successor to my old Alaska shirt that was a gift from my grandma's sister once I got to that size in 2014 before bidding farewell to it in 2016.
    15:23 Magic Flyer has the maximum height because someone told me height restrictions are based on who can fit.
    I will go to Mexico City, but due to the fact my grandma wants to save up for other things, I really want to go with someone, but I don't want to disrupt anyone, like why I got banned from there after my eclipsed desperation because I was 20 years old, one month before my birthday, during the annular eclipse, wanting to see what it was like from someone sending me the picture wasn't guaranteed, but I was told someone would send it at the last minute, but I was still impacted because I understand being under certain regulations can be strict. I would've changed myself seeing someone who can be with me at Six Flags Mexico (mind you, I can go there) and possibly be reinstated.

    Goliath: Remove it and replace it with an out and back hyper coaster with lots of airtime hills and make it longer. Also, remove the small helix.
    Scream: Add some theming.
    Superman: Tuen it into a Top Thrill Dragster/Kingda Ka.
    Full Throttle: Extend it, add another launch, add more twists and turns. Or just redo the entire ride.
    Revolution: Switch to lap bars if it hasn’t already.
    I haven’t ridden West Coast Racers and Wonder Woman yet.
    Other park improvements it can add:
    Giga coaster
    Wing coaster
    Dive machine coaster
    It also needs to improve the overall park experience. I am a roller coaster enthusiast, but Magic Mountain can learn a lot from Cedar Point. Maybe Cedar Fair will buy it to help. Look how it transformed Canada’s Wonderland.

    I've said before that Green Lantern would probably be one of the better floorless coasters if they replaced the trains with those, but considering Scream is already there, I guess sit-down trains might make more sense. Here's a proposal, though: how about hyper trains? I mean I know they've never had those on a coaster with inversions before, but I can't think of a reason they couldn't. Especially since the park already has inverting coasters that use lap bars.

    Goliath is about the only coaster I disagree with you here, it's not the lack of steepness that hurts it, it's the chain lift. All chain lifts in the history of ever run at a consistent speed from bottom to top, except a select few that slow down due to the block zone programming. Goliath slows to an absolute crawl when it gets to the top, and that's why there's no air time on the drop. This change would be in the EASY category to just let the train ride to the top at a consistent speed. And imo, HARD category to add some airtime hulls. I've always thought it was stupid to have Goliath tower over Colossus with a turnaround. Give the the ride an airtime hill immediately after th3 drop, then rise into a turnaround in the parking lot, before hitting another new airtime hill and then continuing along the usual course. I don't believe that's fantasy at all, it's probably 1000 feet of track, maybe a $10 million investment? And it would save the coaster, eliminating the need for a giga.

    I just want to point out that I ride Wonder Woman without the shoulder restraints. I toss thim off at the top of the lift hill and slide them back on just before the brake run. It works out just fine. So it wouldn't cost a whole lot to change this over, just cut the shoulder harnesses out. I know that falls under the fantasy category because of liability but something along a middle ground like just replacing the restraints on the existing trains with just lap bars would work just fine.
    On a related note, I've also done this on the smaller raptors and yeah... Don't do that.

    Truthfully, I’d be curious to see how Wonder Woman would run with shorter trains. I think the long trains interrupt the pacing of the elements and it becomes extremely apparent when riding in the back of the train. It almost feels as if each airtime hill is providing the pulling force of a first drop rather than sustained ejector throughout the element. It still has good forces, just not quite what it could be.
