That last tip: Thank you for caring about the team members. My sisters had to stay anywhere between 2 - 3 hours overtime this past week. Sure they like the OT pay, but they would rather go home after a busy day.
Of course! I have a few friends who are ride ops/work at theme parks, and I plan on being one myself this summer. I know how hard they've been working, especially given that Six Flags hasn't had the best reopening. It seems that a lot of the guests in the park just don't appreciate the people who are trying their hardest to ensure they have a great time.
The only thing I would say is that some members aren't fully educated on the different memberships. I had to pay full price with a diamond elite to get my friend in. Didn't feel like arguing over it but wish they would be better trained.
I’m going to six flags for the first time ever on Friday and I can’t wait. I’ve been watching all your videos and they genuinely have helped so much! I haven’t been on a roller coaster for 5-4 years and the biggest one I’ve been to is splash mountain in Disney so I’m definitely excited for those faster rollercoasters!

Hey man, some great tips! Really like these videos and it helped out on recent trips with my wife/kid. I've been planning out various routes (considering that little dude can't do the 54" rides yet) and would love to see a video that gives optional best routes through the park. Over the past few years, we've spent way too much time climbing the Ninja hill where there's basically nothing except a path down to other rides either bypassing the (often not working) Honda Express to walk up/down stairs or that winding path down on the other side of Ninja. Basically, a video where you various paths AND elevation would be kinda cool. Thanks, and have a good one!
Thanks for all the feedback and glad you found thus video helpful! I was actually planning on doing a video like that this month but never got around to it; I'll be out of town for 3 weeks so I'm not sure when I can get around to it, but I'll try my best to make it happen!
Your tips are spot on. I don't plan to go to Magic Mountain this year, but my years of experience of having annual passes to Disneyland, Universal Studios, Knott;s, and MM your tip on getting to the park EARLY cannot be over stated,. taking water and some food (if allowed) for me is also a big item as I feel there is too much time wasted and the parks really over charge because they have a trapped audience. When planning a trip to the park I always had everyone eat a good hardy breakfast before leaving for the park. If stopped at the gate about taking in food I tell them my kids and now grandkids have a restricted diet (which is true). And the parks really doesn't want a child have a severe reaction to the food served there. MM will always been remembered by my kids as we would ride our off road motorcycles at Hungry Valley near by, take a late afternoon nap, and finish the evening at MM.
Such a wholesome story! Unfortunately I don't have an actual reason to bring food in so I'm limited to eating what's available in the park! But when I go to Disneyland, I'll just bring a whole Thanksgiving dinner with me!
My tip is go to the restaurant next to the helpful Honda express (station in the front of the park) to get drink refills. It is super rundown looking and easy to walk past so it never has a long line
My home park is Discovery Kingdom and I’m taking my brother in law to magic mountain for his first trip there during the first week of September. We will be there on a Tuesday and Wednesday so we can ride everything. Definitely can’t do it all in one day in my experience. Hopefully the lines won’t be long. 🤞🏻
This video is so helpful I’m going to my end of the year Field trip on Wednesday and it’s my first time going to six flags and we are going to be there really early so this is so helpful in what to do thank you 🥰
One thing is that is also important about going late to the park, if you do, the lines wont get longer, they will get shorter. And less people will ne entering, including you. Yes, the lines may be a little long but like as the 3rd last tip said, be patient.
Thanks for the tips! Me and my son are hoping to fly out on Wednesday September 8 and arrive around 12:30pm. We will be there until 6pm and then all day on Thursday. Can we do it all? And any tips for this specific trip?
Guys don't ride Crazanity. I went on the ride feeling something was wrong. I felt like there was way to many of the seats that had an out of order sign, and it was kind of wierd. I have been on a few similar made by intamin, and I feel totally comfortable riding those. I just didn't feel safe this time. Me and my friend sat down two seats that wasn't out of order, and waited for the ride to start, but then the operators came and said, that we couldn't ride in those seats. I asked why since it was weird, and there was no sign that said out of order. He said, that the restraint isn't working properly. When he said that, the other operator looked at him like he said something he wasn't supposed to say. When my friend asked a second time as he didn't hear my conversation with the guy, the guy started suttering and got very quiet suddenly. Then he just said that he didn't know why, and that we could sit in some other seats. After that we both didn't feel comfortable riding anymore, and left. Thats already a red flag, and it seems that there is something the operators can't talk about. On top of that later that same day, my other friend was waiting for us by crazanity while we were riding wonder woman. When we came back he said, that two people hit thier feet on the metal floor below the ride while riding. They luckily didn't hit that hard, and it happened by the start of the ride so they didn't get hurt. After the ride was over, they talked to the operators about it, and the operators didn't seem to care. The ride just kept running for the rest of the day after that. Something is definetally going on here right? It's like they can't say what's wrong with the seats.
Just get the flash pass and ride whatever you want whenever you want. Saves a lot of time if you wanna ride the rides multiple times a day especially if you're travelling from another country or states
My 7 year old daughter and I were there last weekend for the beginning of frightfest. We had several walkons.. most notably the 12:59am walkon of X2 where we got a PRIVATE Train as the last ride of the day.
They aren't usually exactly spot on, especially once the crowds start fluctuating in the early afternoon, but once the lines have "settled" and the amount of people in the park stops fluctuating, they are very accurate and nonetheless give a good idea of what the crowds are like in the park.
100!% Crowds have been dying down lately, as the park has not been as packed recently, and so I believe a platinum flash pass might be a bit overkill, but it would definitely ensure that you would be able to ride everything with re-rides!
Going to six flags mm this week! We are either going on tuesday or wednesday, but we still havent decided. Its my first time going, and im gonna go on X2 first for my 50th credit. Do you think tuesday or wednesday would be better?
Would you recommend rope dropping X2 or Tatsu for first ride of the day? I think Tatsu makes more sense but I only have one day and dont want to miss X2...
My friends and I brought only one water bottle each and since everything is so expensive we didn't have any money for dinner by the end of the day, cuz we blew it all on water. We chugged 1 water bottle each when my dad came to pick us up.
hello. my home park is discovery kingdom, and my family and i are planning to go to magic mountain in either september, october, or november. we do want to go on a weekday, instead of a weekend, since weekends can be busy, and we’d only be going for one day. we were thinking about a friday in october, since the park is open until 1 a.m. so which day of the week would you recommend going on, and which of the three months would be best? thank you! (amazing video, i’ve taken note of everything you said.)
Hi! So during the 3 months you mentioned, the best time to go is September by far, specifically Tuesday - Thursday. September has always been the emptiest month of the year because people are all going back to school and work, and there arent any major holidays nearby. If you were to go on a Friday in October for Fright Fest, I would recommend Flash Passes because Fright Fest crowds are always pretty big, especially this year because there wasn't a Fright Fest this year, so we can expect to see a lot more crowds this year in general; hope this helps!
Very helpful video! I have a few questions, I heard you can pull up the flash pass on your phone do you know if this is true and if it is do you recommend that instead of the watch they give you?
Hi! I'm not extremely familiar with the flash pass system, especially the mobile system (since I never buy flash passes) so I don't exactly know how that works; I would just recommend trying to find that info on their website or contacting them, I don't wanna provide false info!
From experience flash pass isn't worth the money. Purchase diamond elite and get 2 skip the line passes each visit and includes unlimited free soda/water. We hit all the short wait time rides first then late afternoon use the 2 tickets for the hour long rides. Also always bring a backpack.
Okay so we bought platinum flash passes and we made a reservation for tomorrow, but it didn't give us a time. Do we need to make a separate reservation to get a time spot or?.. Can somebody explain this, please? 🥺🥺
Whenever you make a reservation for Six Flags Magic Mountain, you should be prompted with a list of available time slots to arrive. If you already have a season pass or membership, then you would have to make this reservation separately, but if you are getting a single-day ticket, then I believe you set the reservation at the same time that you buy the ticket and they are both included together.
Quick question is it better to have a printed copy of your reservation and ticket or is the digital bar code fine? Really appreciate the helpful tips 🙏🏼
As long as you have a legible barcode then it doesn't make a difference! I prefer to have a printed version, but if you have a very clear photo or screenshot of the reservation/ticket with the full barcode showing, it should work just as fine! Hope this helps :)
I would recommend heading to the back of the park and getting on Tatsu, West Coast Racers, Apocalypse, Ninja, Superman, CraZanity, and then snaking your way through Screampunk and DC Universe, while also hitting Goliath and Lex on the way to Screampunk. I would get in line for Full Throttle after eating lunch because by then it will have about a 30 minute wait, and then finishing up with Revolution, X2, and Viper
I have personally never had a problem bringing it inside the actual park (security has always checked my bag and always let me in with it) however filming on the actual rides is strictly prohibited unless you have special permission
@@Matthew-qx3dh As in you either have to be part of some media crew, large company, or the news. Unfortunately Six Flags just doesn't allow filming on rides from any individuals for any reason. It's for a safety and copying reason, but I personally feel that if someone has proper mounting gear (wrist/chest strap) then it should be permitted. That's how SeaWorld and Disney parks work.
If you are going to be getting gold or platinum flash pass, then it might be fine to go Saturday, however, the lines for Flash pass will actually be very long, and you will have to park way in the back near scream. You probably won't be able to actually get on a ride until like 2 pm, which is when the park is pretty much the most crowded. If I were you, I would personally reschedule, but it is ultimately up to you.
I haven't been there in ages and got a reservation for Tuesday April 13th . Going to get dropped off there and picked up...is there a set drop off location and pick up location?
Yes! There is, there is a small U shaped drop off/pick up zone directly in front of the ticket booths/temperature screening. To get there, you would have to go left of the parking booths upon driving up to the actual park.
The gates to the park open at 10:30 at the earliest right now, but the gates to the parking lot will open between 9:30 and 10:15, and plus the line to get in the parking lot and the park will get very long the closer it gets to 10:30.
Is the app for magic mountain better than other Six Flags locations? Because we went to Six Flags over Texas and Fiesta last month and the ride status information was near worthless. Multiple rides said they were running when not and we rode multiple rides that said they were closed at both parks. Wait times were also off in both directions on multiple rides, most actually had shorter wait times than the app said and a few were much longer wait times than the app said even though the ride never stopped for issues.
Yes, for almost every ride, they are now running multiple trains. Seating is limited on rides however, and there is sanitization after every few cycles, so operations are still a bit slower than normal however.
Aloha and Ultra Apprecaition, M! Everything GOLD but coming from Hawaii we are getting on as many rides as humanly possible and end of the night is IT #lastine SUPER SOCAL TIP: Indiana Jones Ride crew will run You through a second time after close in Disneyland if You ask super nicely and they LOVE doing it -- Magic Makes MORE Magic. The vibe on-scene is like a party!
Pretty much every Saturday is gonna be super crowded, but on Sundays it depends; the middle of May shouldn't be too bad, but if I were you, I would periodically check that date to see how many time slots are open, because if it becomes fully booked, or the only time slots or at like 2 pm, then I would recommend getting flash pass.
Growing up I had a pass for 8 straight years. If you wanna get there when they open DON’T go with people who lag. They will make the entire day uneventful to say the least
Just went today. I got on everything in three and a half hours. The days between Mothers Day and Memorial day are great. The longest wait was 10 minutes.
I really wanted to ride Tatsu last time I went to MM, problem was line was 4+ hours long. And I didn't really want to stick to the line bcz other rides were like 1 to 2 hours long.
@@M-NL2 Yeah I could try. But the only times I get to go are when we are going to LA and have a extra day or two. I usually like to spend them at Knotts and another theme park. It would be hard since we would have to arrive there really early. But I have to get on tatsu for sure next time I get to MM
Unless its insanely crowded, I would recommend half a day at Hurricane Harbor and the rest of your time at Magic Mountain. Hurricane Harbor would be better on the 2nd day, at opening, and then around 2pm or so, I would switch over to the main park.
Something tells me that these tips are going to work btw I am in Mexico right now and I’m going back to United States in 1 more day and my dad said when we get back we will go to six flags mm
Definitely worth it. Got on every ride with 25-30 wait max. With you getting gold should be no problem. Only down side is you can’t ride X2 multiple times with the pass
We have a reservation next Saturday 12:45 (the earliest I could find 😭). Do you think a Platinum flash pass would be worth it? Or should I reschedule? We plan on buying it online before actually going to the park
Yeah a platinum flash pass is the best work around to a fully packed day. Getting food might be a hassle, but also keep in mind that you'll still have to pick up your flash pass device at the park evem when you buy online, so you would have to wait in the flash pass line when you get there. You would also have to park pretty far from the park's entrance, so there's that too. Basically, you might not get to actually ride anythjng until about 1:30 to 2:00 but once you have your flash pass, you should be able to ride very many rides.
@@M-NL2 I doubt it. Looks like the place is going to be every bit as packed as it has been. Going to try to get in an hour before my actual reservation time.
@@guitarpedal. 2x tatsu, 2x viper, wcr, tatsu, scream, apocalypse, gold rusher, riddlers, a log ride, and currently queuing for Superman but we'll see if I actually board. Got here at 11am. I give it a C+/B- for the day.
Maybe later in the day, but for the first few hours of park operation, it should be very empty and you should be able to ride several rides without waiting in a line! If crowds do pick up, it likely won't be as bad as it has been the past few weeks.
Do the lines for Full Throttle, X2 or Twisted Colossus stay open all the way to closing time or do they sometimes close the queue lines early if it's really busy?
Yup! You can bring a bag in as long as there is nothing prohibited inside of it; every single ride in the park with the exception of X2 has free cubbies to use in the station. X2 requires you to buy lockers the majority of the time, but as of right now with the COVID guidelines, you can put your stuff in X2's station for free as well.
The park has actually been improving a lot as I've been seeing on Instagram, and most weekdays now aren't fully booked on reservations, so there likely won't be crowds as extreme as the ones during the first week of opening. I would say that you should be able to ride more than half of the rides, and it is moreso dependent on what rides will actually be running, as a lot of rides have continuously been breaking down.
@@M-NL2 which is interesting considering that theyve had a year to get any maintenance done. Just doesnt make much sense to me and i am a ride operator.

@@M-NL2 I have just screenshot your response and will do this plan Monday the 28th! Thanks!
Definitely needed tho I go to six flags a lot, it’s still very helpful to know some tips that can come in handy !
Make the most... go somewhere else and eat from an ice chest in your car.
Thanks for all the details! This really helped us prepare for our visit.
No problem! Glad I could help in any way possible! :)
Nice one, brutha.
Are you allowed to bring a gopro? It looks like you were allowed to film on rides
I have personally never had a problem bringing it inside the actual park (security has always checked my bag and always let me in with it) however filming on the actual rides is strictly prohibited unless you have special permission
@@M-NL2 In terms of special permission what do you mean by that? What if I just want to film to have a memory?
@@Matthew-qx3dh As in you either have to be part of some media crew, large company, or the news. Unfortunately Six Flags just doesn't allow filming on rides from any individuals for any reason. It's for a safety and copying reason, but I personally feel that if someone has proper mounting gear (wrist/chest strap) then it should be permitted. That's how SeaWorld and Disney parks work.
i have a reservation this saturday for 1:15 :( should i just reschedule for the sunday after that (25) at 11:30? imma be getting flashpass anyway
Twisted colossus music 👌🏼
One of my favorite soundtracks 🥰
I haven't been there in ages and got a reservation for Tuesday April 13th . Going to get dropped off there and picked up...is there a set drop off location and pick up location?
Yes! There is, there is a small U shaped drop off/pick up zone directly in front of the ticket booths/temperature screening. To get there, you would have to go left of the parking booths upon driving up to the actual park.
Question on hats and glasses what are my rateings?
How early can you get in and park? I have a 1030am reservation
The gates to the park open at 10:30 at the earliest right now, but the gates to the parking lot will open between 9:30 and 10:15, and plus the line to get in the parking lot and the park will get very long the closer it gets to 10:30.
tip number 0: don't do what I did and think your basic dining pass can get dinner
oof rip
Is the app for magic mountain better than other Six Flags locations? Because we went to Six Flags over Texas and Fiesta last month and the ride status information was near worthless. Multiple rides said they were running when not and we rode multiple rides that said they were closed at both parks. Wait times were also off in both directions on multiple rides, most actually had shorter wait times than the app said and a few were much longer wait times than the app said even though the ride never stopped for issues.
Cause when you bring like your entire bedroom
As long as I get to ride X2 I'll be happy
I was at Magic Mountain on Thursday, the lines were awful
rip :(
Hey so I'm going the first week of Christmas break will the lines be decent? (Weekday 19-21st)
How are the ride operations? Are they operating multiple trains on rides?
I will be going next Wednesday at 11:15 do u think it will be crowded. Just in case to buy a flash pass
lol i’m going 11:30 that day
is it super crowded on weekends? like may 16 for example? which flash pass do you recommend?
Pretty much every Saturday is gonna be super crowded, but on Sundays it depends; the middle of May shouldn't be too bad, but if I were you, I would periodically check that date to see how many time slots are open, because if it becomes fully booked, or the only time slots or at like 2 pm, then I would recommend getting flash pass.
@@M-NL2 smart! thanks ☺
Stay the fuck away from gocarts
Growing up I had a pass for 8 straight years. If you wanna get there when they open DON’T go with people who lag. They will make the entire day uneventful to say the least
Yessir I’m going tmr LETS GOOO
Have fun!! 😄
cool vid
Thank you!
Can I bring a sealed gallon of water💧
idk lol, but you can bring as many regular 8 oz water bottles as you'd like lol
What are you calling Superman, Is that another name people call it?
ruclips.net/video/iAppYEAl4wo/видео.html
Just went today. I got on everything in three and a half hours. The days between Mothers Day and Memorial day are great. The longest wait was 10 minutes.
I’m going on a Thursday in April how do you think the crowds will be ??
Should be fairly dead, but as a warning, the park has started running one train on pretty much every roller coaster when the park is empty enough
@@M-NL2 okay thank you still looking into buying the fast pass just in case cause I am traveling to LA from Florida for the week just for a visit
I really wanted to ride Tatsu last time I went to MM, problem was line was 4+ hours long. And I didn't really want to stick to the line bcz other rides were like 1 to 2 hours long.
Rip, once Tatsu reopens, try to ride it within the first hour of the park's operating day! It should be a very short wait then!
@@M-NL2 Yeah I could try. But the only times I get to go are when we are going to LA and have a extra day or two. I usually like to spend them at Knotts and another theme park. It would be hard since we would have to arrive there really early. But I have to get on tatsu for sure next time I get to MM
are you allowed to use your buddy pass during covid?
I actually have no idea. That would be something I would ask Guest Services from the Six Flags website.
I have 2 days in August. Should I do 2 days at Magic Mountain or 1 day Magic Mountain and 1 day Hurricane Harbor?
Unless its insanely crowded, I would recommend half a day at Hurricane Harbor and the rest of your time at Magic Mountain. Hurricane Harbor would be better on the 2nd day, at opening, and then around 2pm or so, I would switch over to the main park.
Have a reservation at 11:45 is that a good time to get on the rides on a Wednesday
Shouldn't be too bad! As long as you are able to park sooner than that and get inside the actual park right at your reservation time.
Apocalypse is a reliably open ride? LOL I'm dying here
Something tells me that these tips are going to work btw I am in Mexico right now and I’m going back to United States in 1 more day and my dad said when we get back we will go to six flags mm
is meal pass worth it?
I went to magic mountain today at 3:00 and everything was a walk-on
Headed back tomorrow after almost 5 years 🙏🙏🙏
I hope you have a legendary time!!!
getting the bronze flash pass hope its worth it
Hey was it worth it?? I bought the gold flash passes and will go in 4 days. What was your experience with using them?
Definitely worth it. Got on every ride with 25-30 wait max. With you getting gold should be no problem. Only down side is you can’t ride X2 multiple times with the pass
I agree with all of these. Do they still serve Dole Whips at Food Etc.?
What are you calling Superman escape from krypton? I don’t understand. Something the ride ?
ruclips.net/video/iAppYEAl4wo/видео.html 😉
I’ve been to six flags more times than I know and this video was amazing
Riddler seems like a ghost ride. It looks like noone rides it at all. The plaza is front looks barely full.
Oh ok, ok. Thank you so much 🥰
@@effyinabox986 No problem! Hope it helps! :)
I'm going this summer 2021 in July ima be hyped when july arrives
Nice! Hope you have fun!
@@M-NL2 I deniflenty will after 3 years
Can i bring water bottles into the park?
Yep!
How you call superman the escape, "son of the ride" lol

I'm going Wednesday. Let you know how it goes
Have fun!
@@M-NL2 I doubt it. Looks like the place is going to be every bit as packed as it has been. Going to try to get in an hour before my actual reservation time.
Kicked my reservation down the road. By all accounts its still a shit show.
How did it go ? T
@@guitarpedal. 2x tatsu, 2x viper, wcr, tatsu, scream, apocalypse, gold rusher, riddlers, a log ride, and currently queuing for Superman but we'll see if I actually board. Got here at 11am. I give it a C+/B- for the day.
Gonna be going on wednesday may 5th, Do you think it will be crowded then?
Maybe later in the day, but for the first few hours of park operation, it should be very empty and you should be able to ride several rides without waiting in a line! If crowds do pick up, it likely won't be as bad as it has been the past few weeks.
thanks for the reply man really appreciate it, great videos too💯
@@yurrrrrrr800 Thank you! Hope you have a great day at the park! 😄
What do u think it’s the most line waited ride
Superman always has a 2-3 hour line on the weekends
i was the thousandth like
very epic
Is the Flash pass available at this time or no?
Yup! Flash pass wristbands are still in use.
Do the lines for Full Throttle, X2 or Twisted Colossus stay open all the way to closing time or do they sometimes close the queue lines early if it's really busy?
Sometimes they'll close em slightly earlier
Can I get bring a backpack? Are there cubbies now? I am used to the no backpack or use a locker days
I am going tomorrow and have a 12:15 reservation. How low should I set my expectations?
The park has actually been improving a lot as I've been seeing on Instagram, and most weekdays now aren't fully booked on reservations, so there likely won't be crowds as extreme as the ones during the first week of opening. I would say that you should be able to ride more than half of the rides, and it is moreso dependent on what rides will actually be running, as a lot of rides have continuously been breaking down.
@@M-NL2 which is interesting considering that theyve had a year to get any maintenance done. Just doesnt make much sense to me and i am a ride operator.
