@@CJMediaOfficial I can confirm that as well. I've had a Hypermotard and a Scrambler and both were way tricker to get into neutral. It gets a bit better after the engine is hotter. Moving the bike forward a bit while trying to engage it used to help for me. All in all, awesome project! That's unbelievable for me how you were able to get it rolling from where it was.
great video mate so glad it runs ok! I had an 1199 a couple years ago and I found mine to be difficult to get into neutral. I found it easier to get into neutral when the bike was still rolling, for example rolling up to the Traffic lights, but when the bike was stopped stationary it was much harder.
I've been watching this build and have enjoyed your content! Great work! I have a few Ducatis myself (899 Pani and 21' SFV4S), and my dealer explained to me that the reason Neutral on Ducatis is so difficult to find is because of the how the gears are straight cut. 🤷♂ In my experience, I only have trouble finding Neutral when the bike is cold. Once warm, I seem to have no problems with finding Neutral.
So glad you put the top clamp on before test riding For the gas tank some companies can use compressed air to pop out the dent if the tank is a single wall tank.
Been following your rebuild, it’s pretty awesome, answer to your question, I have a 2021 V2 Panigale and yes getting it in neutral is a pain, also the kickstand is a struggle lol
I have a V2 as well (well my best friend does but he keeps it in my garage 😈). Have struggled with the kickstand as well. We added an extender to it... it helps...a little bit... it's not AS bad... but still a bit annoying
Yeah lol. I own an S1000RR so we always tell eachother "that bike is yours, take it out whenever you want..." He's like my brother so, yeah... we share bikes hahahaha! I gotta say the V2 is no S1000RR when it comes to over all power BUT... it is an absolute BLAST to ride!
Bro my hands hurt just watching this video, this man really took it for a spin in that weather with no gloves :O and getting the bike in neutral is very easy when the bike is rolling and coming to stop. Go to neutral from 2nd (SFV4 owner)

I find it easier to get into neutral from 2nd then go down to first and kick up. I also put it into neutral when I coast into a stop light. I have a few Ducati’s and they are all a little tough to find neutral.
getting into neutral is common on italian bikes. i own a Aprilia RS660 and all i do is release the clutch a bit for it to grab the gear and then down to neutral. this trick works for me.
You have the clutch lever travel adjusted to close to the handlebar. Readjust the lever travel further away fro m the handlebar to gain more lever travel. I don’t think the clutch is being fully disengaged with the way it is currently adjusted. Air in the system can also add to this issue. Good job on the rebuild!
I just binge watched your whole Ducati series, great work bro keep up the good work. Do you plan on providing a breakdown of cost for parts etc. when you're done?
I've had issues going into neutral as well on mine. You might want to make sure there is no air in the clutch as well. It makes a difference trying to go to neutral. I've given up so many times trying to get the thing into neutral that I just turn it off. Congrats on getting your build up and running. I was very skeptical on you getting this far.
Hello. Nice job there! For the neutral issue try to adjust your clutch lever. Maybe because thé distance between the lever and the clipon is too short and the clutch can't totally disengage. It's maybe why it is difficult to put in neutral. Let me know it that was the problem. Fantastic job bro!
I don't know if anyone manufactures these for Ducatis or not, but you might be able to find one of those plastic covers that fits snuggly over the tank. They fit snug enough that you can't even tell they're there. I've seen them for gixers. That way you could at least hide the dent. I'd search around for one of those if you can't find a way to pop the dent out.
Good idea John, I'll have to see if they make those not too bulky abs color matched! Although I'm thinking it's gunna look weird either way but it's worth a shot. What about just leaving the tank how it is, thoughts?
@@CJMediaOfficial yeah. Rear looks good. Maybe there’s a rotation mark on the tyre? There you can see if its been fitted properly. Looks kinda odd to me. Just sayin’ ;-) bike looks super cool though. Congrats on that one!
Bleed the clutch again. The hard to find neutral and rough shifting is a symptom of the previous generations of bikes, new bikes should be buttery smooth ..

Just started following you on this rebuild..great work..just wanted to ask your opinion I’m looking to start riding and wondering what be your best bike to start off with ???
Hi David! In my honest opinion, any bike. Once you just start riding and do it a lot, you learn alot regardless what bike you chose. If you start with something lower CC, sure you'll be less likely to hurt yourself, if you start soemthing with something Higher Cc, yeah it might be be easier to hurt yourself.
The only realistic way the tank dent is coming out is by draining gas, pulling tank off, flipping it upside down, and removing fuel pump, accessing the dent from the underside, it’s right next to the pump entrance. If done correctly, paint repair will be minimal.
The dent in the tank could possibly be repaired by a paint less dent removal firm, they car do wonders on cars but the tank will be much thicker/stronger metal, worth asking the question though

Gold hammer specialists....they will pop it out without destroying the tank painture... they have the know how. Verify the master clutch cylinder... like a clutch making force and a dificult to the gear box to go to neutral... in 1st gear and clutch pressed you can push the bike backwards??
