Dead Space Lore: The Four Stages Of A Necromorph Outbreak Explained

  • Within Dead Space there are several entities known as the brethren moons who are comprised of dead flesh reanimated to suit a new purpose with a marker at the centre which is basically a conduit for the necromorphs within the lore and story for the games.
In this video I will be going through each of the steps of how a outbreak functions and explaining away the journey from discovery/activation all the way to unity. Unlike outbreaks that happen in other games such as halo or dead rising there is a difference with the first two steps being before an outbreak which shows the disturbing strategies the brethren moons are willing to adopt in order to add another brother to their unholy ranks of flesh.

    • @toddkes5890
      @toddkes5890 2 года назад

I figure the Markers are made by the Brethren Moons, to convert other societies. The Markers aren't sources of energy, they are merely relays. So the Brethren Moons detect a Marker has been found/activated, and attempt to use their psychic powers through that Marker (the first stage listed in the video). If that psychic signal works, the Brethren Moons then provide power to that Marker. This prevents a society from creating Markers that are immune to the Brethren Moons' effects.
So the first culture made the Markers as psionic and energy relay systems, to make a better communications and power network. Over time that society converted into the first Brethren Moon, and that Moon began making more Markers.

My head cannon is it involved conflict with a lot of deaths (a running theme in DS franchise). So maybe a war on a galactic scale.
Said war would've wiped out several thousand alien species both advanced and still throwing rocks at each other.
With such deaths and few resources left from the war (another theme in DS always missing something apparently) there would be a near limitless supply / resource of flesh and bone.
So aliens made a frankenstein level tesla rod that electrocutes cells back to life so long as the signal is kept up.
Thus the first brother moon was made and it contains
      1. First marker ever
      2. Some sort of star in it or star core highly advanced tech that gives off near infinte energy in the form of electromagnetic waves (electricity)
Then the moon with all those dead aliens had many thoughts and ideas. Ultimately it became a hive mind and started to realize it needed new moons to expand and grow stronger.
The remaining alien species were wiped out or tricked into making more markers for energy then wiped out when the harvest was right.
Though this has a loose screw in the machine that the devs said in interviews that DS4 would've had (if EA didn't disband them) something bigger a bigger fish. More terrifying than the necromorphs and brother moons.
So maybe it just happened to be made by a higher alien species or being that preys on the necromorphs.

      @@TheBritishRunner Remake, kinda- reboot kinda
Stage 1: EA funds the game
      The issac trilogy
Dead space 1 acted on real basic values- crew mates and relationships stuck in a situation
Dead space 2 worked on rediscovering those values
Dead space 3 was ‘sacrifice all for this person’s values- also we destroyed all built before hand so why not?’
I think dead space 3 could’ve been a RPG game of Issac trying to preserve the things he values on a isolation colony after the ‘secret fleet’ has a ship crash nearby as it would’ve been a good reaction on dead space 1 and 2- think thief or mass effect, but on a dead space colony.
Another option is making dead space 3 a RPG where you can leave the planet with Ellie at any point or destroy key ways to reach areas and prevent yourself from continuing forward as well as anyone else, forcing Ellie to abandon her mission, it shouldn’t have been a ‘the world ended in 7 hours because the unity attacked’ the focus swing was way too fast and rarely or never brought up in the contest that it was presented as
Dead space mobile acts a lot on a person trying to act on higher values- station, ‘what is right’ and being mislead and offering redemption on those values as they betray them when mis lead
Extraction acts more on a similar goal- Ekheart(?) acting on dead space 3- galaxy wide and ‘greater good’ directly, while Nadine acts on relationships and one on one while the security officer acts on duty, locality, group values

Deadspace 4 should have had the remnants of humanity leaving the Sol system, planning to find a place to hide and rebuild (the Battlestar Galactica strategy). On the way out, they pas the USG Ishimura, and Isaac gets a crazy idea.
They decide to go onto the Ishimura, get it back into working order, and crack a Brethren Moon. They fix her up, head back, and use the Ishimura's gravity tethers (and other equipment) to get down to the core of a Brethren Moon, to pull the Marker at its core out. The Asteroid Mining setup on the Mining deck is then reversed to launch that Marker into the Sun. Lots of cursing the entire time, but then the Marker reaches the sun and gets vaporized. That Brethren Moon dies.
The other Brethren Moons then begin to leave, afraid for the first time in their lives. Game ends with Isaac & friends looking over a shipyard with 3-4 Ishimura-class Mooncrackers being built. Humanity wants revenge.

Maybe Isaac's dad had been working on a project to defeat the Necromorphs all this time, in the form of the most powerful space weapon ever invented.
Although maybe this would come at the cost of unleashing a threat even more uncontrollable than the Necromorphs. Imagine releasing a swarm of unstoppable robots that tear the Moons into shreds, only for them to pay attention to humans next.

Yo, I know you commented this a while ago, but I'd like to respond anyways. I hope this interests you. First of all, something to establish: Dead Space constantly COMICALLY underestimates the numbers of people inhabiting it's various space stations/ships, etc. For example: the Ishimura having a crew of only 6000 despite being so large (possibly city-sized?) it has a tram system and appartment-size living quarters!?!?!? Tiedmann having only ~100k guards left in the government sector before it got overrun!? (Even assuming Tiedmann lost 99.9% of his manpower by that time, (which is pretty generous considering Isaac Clarke, a simple engineer manages to survive 2 necromorph outbreaks almost by himself) that would still mean he had ~100M men at the start, which is a tiny number for a space station the SIZE OF A MOON) Ignoring this, we can guage a few things from our stay at the sprawl: first of all: it's name is no lie, it is named Titan Station because it is litterally located on one of Saturn's moons: Titan! (you can even see Saturn in the background on many occasions during DS2) And, if you watched the ending cutscene of Dead Space 2, you can see the Sprawl is roughly the size of the moon itself. Another factor is that, just like the station itself, Titan's population was expanding at an unprecedented rate at the time of the outbreak and was visibly packed with people. So, knowing that we have a space station the size of Titan with a population that could reasonably fill the entire station (not litterally, but in terms of real estate, at least) and disregarding Dead Space's laughably ridiculous population estimates, I believe we can reasonably assume you could create at least a small bretheren moon with the Sprawl's population. I hope my autistic ahh explaination at least entertained you.

Ok I know this might be a bit of a doozy for me too understand but can a marker convert a xenomorph into one of the necromorphs? Reason why I ask is because I wonder if the corruption/ marker could mutate something with akin to acidic compound. And my second question how would Isaac react to the flood from the halo series and vise versa I with master Chief with the necromorphs?

      1. It works on alien necromorphs and we got the corrosive acid spitters in DS2 and DS3. So yes so long as the xenomorph is dead the flesh or armored body would be of use still. When necromorphs change it is cannon their blood boils. We see it in DS2 intro with the infector turning that guy. So corrosive blood wouldn't be an issue as much. Plus xenos are immune to their own corrosive blood. Just make a necromorph out of all dead xenomorphs
      2. Issac would find a way
      3. Same with master chief.

      Twitchers or those stasis necromorphs
Unless you're fast can block them with objects or have a stasis module (which goes with first point anyhow) they can pretty much kill anything or anyone fast before they have time to draw their weapons or fire a 2nd shot as seen in DS1 amd DS3.

Ik this is going to be a *very unpopular opinion* but once the people who are currently making the dead space remake is finally released and it becomes a smashing success hopefully they will create a Dead Space 2 remake and also bring back the multiplayer because for me personally I found it to be very underrated what they can do is add more players in a lobby and allow us to play as many other different necromorphs and hopefully a game mode or maps where there are several civilians in the chaos and maybe a boss hunt mode where 4 sprawl members are tasked to take out a necromorph boss or a marker and a game mode where you can play as a Ubermorph hunting down every last surviving human being able to call your several necromorph brothers and sisters to assist you being able to command them to flank to get the upper hand on earth gov to become a hive mind or maybe even a game mode or dlc where you play as a rogue necromorph that is resistant to the marker still having his/her human memories and despises the brethren moons and has only one goal to kill every last necromorph until the last one standing is itself and every necromorph it kills makes it become more powerful like a necromorph doom slayer
