Hey man, i hope youre fine. I used your peeling system and man the flamethrower was something else. One of the best weapons in the game. Did my impossible run with ease! Oh and i got a tipp for ya. So when your dead and you hear the heart stop sound just hold the PS button so youre in the PS Mainmenu and just close the game/application. After that you can just load your save file and the run cant be ruined. Thank you very much for your help.
Definitely. Flamethrower has the best DPS verse ammo capacity out of all the weapons. Plus I just found out it works wonders on the Tentacles that pop out to smash you
I only used the plasma cutter, contact beam and kinesis. I kept 2 other guns to sell all the ammo I got along with all other loot, I bought tons of nodes to fully upgrade my first few trees on my stasis and kinesis damage as well as my plasma cutter. I got it on my first try this way. It’s what I did on hardcore in dead space 2.
I had no idea the combat system switched to stripping the flesh then hitting limbs. I thought it was just a visual effect. Total game changer! You rock!
Yeah, Im about to start my Impossible run, and had NO idea. I noticed that sometimes they die easier than others, owing to my lack of consistency of aiming.
yep, as a DS veteran i thought it is a visual only, now i am kinda disappointed with the "peeling", i worked with enough powertools to say that skin&flesh are no factor when accidents occur, power tools (especially in dead space) are ment to cut rock, steel & wood, the only resistance in a human is the bone, everything else is just paper in comparison and wont stop anything.
@gbeach85they are talking about the realism of it. Since the devs wanted a more realism feel to it, if you don’t have anything nice to say don’t say it cuck
@@DerDrecksack87 No game is going to achieve true realism, but if it’s really detracting from your realism, just tell yourself that necromorphs have tougher skin than humans. It’s a fictional game, bro, use your imagination.
If you are in an area where you're certain an infector will spawn later, (i.e. the room mentioned in the vid, or the Crew central hub in chapter 10), you can stomp all the dead human bodies first so the infector will have no bodies to infect. Saved me alot of ammo and trouble on my run.
Some impossible mode tips I found missing here: 1. Chapters 1-4 are the hardest parts of the run as you don't have the best weapons or good schematics, if you find yourself struggling early don't worry, this is intentional. IMO, once you get the medium med pack schematic (after decontamination room) the game gets significantly easier from there. 2. If you're in a room with a stasis refill station you should not spend a single round of ammunition. Stasis enemies and run up to them and stomp (yes even standing enemies) until they drop their loot signifying that they're completely dead. NOTE: do not do this with guardians (wall enemies) as if you get too close they WILL one hit KO. 3. Don't carry 4 weapons. Enemies will only drop ammo for the guns that are sitting in your inventory (regardless of what is equipped on your quick swap wheel). So if you carry 6 guns in your inventory, the game will spread out ammo for all of those guns. The less guns you carry, the more you funnel ammo for better, more ammo efficient guns. You also do not get enough nodes to properly upgrade more than the suit and maybe like 2 guns. I personally recommend only carrying 2 guns, no more than 3. My personal preferred loadout is Contact Beam (single highest DPS weapon) and Force Gun (crowd control + peeling). If I know a swarm is coming up then I'll pull out the flamethrower and put it back in storage when I'm done with it. If you use this method, I would personally not use either the plasma cutter or pulse rifle as they are two of the LEAST ammo efficient guns in the game. 4. White-tipped spikes aren't the only one hit kill TK weapon in the game. You can also use telekinesis on pipes with blue rims on the walls to pull them off, these will also 1 hit KO enemies. Also there are little small square storage shelves with 4 white corners, stomp at them and the shelving until will fall apart and each corner will make a spike giving you 4 spikes for free.
About 3. Plus less guns means less strategy and thinking. Makes you crystal clear about what you should do in varies situation. Force gun and contact beam combination creates only 3 stituations: 1. 1or2 Enemy long range: beam it. 2. Close range: force it and beam it. 3. Lots of enemy: gravity, force and beam them. You could always carry force gun as default weapon and watch the situation to swap to contact beam.
Early chapters are a breeze if you use Kinesis to its full capability. Honestly the first chapter is the one I find most tedious simply because there’s no Kinesis. It’s not that hard, but the spongy enemies with no upgrades just feels tedious. As soon as I have Kinesis, the game may as well be on story mode, they give you so many weapons to throw.
Might not be super necessary but a huge resource save is to upgrade at the right moment. Health and ammo capacity upgrades give you a full refill. So if you have zero ammo in a clip or red Health it's the optimal time to upgrade those. You can get more health than a large med pack by doing that, although it's a little risky to wait in red on impossible. Still it's worth not reloading if you know you can upgrade the capacity for a weapon.
Depending on how much money you have and how often you get hit, which I get hit a lot by the smallest of enemies, you could spend the 5000 credits to unequip all nodes of your armor and then requip them which heals more than a large health pack which costs 10,000 credits
You can go through the whole game without reloading the flamethrower at all due to how incredibly ammo efficient it is and its many capacity upgrade slots.
This is the only real acknowledgment of the peeling and dismemberment tandem system as a gameplay mechanic and not just an aesthetic one that I have found anywhere! The game definitely should have hammered it home a bit more. Great vid mate!
I just conquered my impossible run but just because I haven't seen anyone mention this I want to say DO NOT underestimate chapter 9 .. there's a part in it where you have to avoid a spinning laser beam that insta kills you. You're supposed to stasis it and run through a safe gap but I've often found not even regular stasis will make it slow enough and it will spin and kill you.. -- The absolute best method is to hurl a stasis barrel at it which will give it enough juice to slow the laser down enough for safe passage (The stasis barrel is sitting in front of it, easy to see) That room was literally my only run killer.. there are some other insta death places but ch9 laser is the worst because You're basically on the home stretch. but I did eventually beat impossible mode:)
Thats actually the only time i died on my impossible mode, good thing i restarted before it counted. I admit i did that a few times to beat impossible mode and im not shamed of it. This game has too many unpredictable things
A few things extra and addendums to note: For those unaware, there is an intensity director in the game that will make certain unscripted events occur from time to time and some can be BRUTAL, so if you do watch a playthough of someone else, keep in mind that you won't get their exact results, in fact depending on how much the AI hates you, you can get absolutely swarmed sometimes, it's all down to what it thinks and sends your way. Improvise and adapt to the situations using Smough's tips and you should still be alright. Firewall is one of the single best crowd controls in the game outside proto-stasis and needs to be stated more, it will stop everything that isn't a brute, hunter or armor'd necromorph dead in their tracks buying you a ton of space, along with the force gun's gravity well it makes for a devastating combo Flamethrower is actually one of the best tools for killing guardians, the firewall secondary will delete them in one shot if aimed well and you don't need to get near them. Also prototype stasis will one shot guardians, if you let it sit on them for about 3 seconds On the subject of prototype stasis, it will actually kill enemies on it's own (Killing a brute in about 11 to 12 shots) along with peeling them and can be used to detonate tendrils (Like in Chapter 10 and 12) through walls, this allows for skips to be done in those sections. Another random tidbit I didn't hear as well, Twitchers are all immune to the effects of stasis slowdown outside of their own pack detonations, however proto-stasis will still apply a short stun when used, but mainly recommend force gun or firewall to buy breathing room for them, if their packs had been detonated prior. For the danger sections: Centrifuge is spot on, just take your time and let it work for you, easy enough if you take a breather and wait for the opportunities. @33:25 run through the doorway to deck D slightly to trigger the infectors and stay in the elevator room, you will cover a body from it getting infected, no sticky floors and the infectors and slasher they make will funnel to you through a single doorway, plus the guardian won't have aggro on you to produce more pods, with a firewall in the doorway you can literally blend anything that thinks about coming your way and deal with the guardian alone after. @36:10 The gravity rings have 2 positions on them, look for their "open" position and stand by, when it is swapping positions from closed to open stasis the rings and fly through, also even when they are stopped after planting the beacon THEY CAN AND WILL KILL YOU IF YOU FLY INTO THEM EVEN WHEN STOPPED @37:18 You can prototype stasis kill an exploder without detonating it's sac, HOWEVER, it WILL detonate postmortem if hit with the stasis again, so still not really recommended, just do like Smough says and use the spikes. The generous center mass auto-aim makes it much easier. @37:30 with the door being stasis'd the twitchers had time to let stasis fade and follow you through, recommendation is hit them with a force gun and not a flamethrowers and the stasis'd knockdown buys much more time to open and close the door in this situation. Fun thing of note also is you are indeed vulnerable in cutscenes and can die and even be grabbed in them. @38:15 You can actually do this section without ever going through a moving fan. From where you enter the area at the bottom with the batteries just got to the fan immediately outside the elevator to the right (Back right from the center console), it will have a pustule but will have two covering it partially, destroy the first on on it and then fly through, from there you can find two more fans that you can just fly through without having to shoot anything and they will be stopped. You actually don't need to uncover all the fans anyway, once the batteries in place the objective in that room is finished. @39:12 Hivemind moves extremely erratically during the beginning of the grab, but at one point he gives you ample time to shoot him enough with most any upgraded weapon, set up and wait for that point and fire away. (Watch someone doing the part to get an idea, he basically "focuses" in on Issac, sitting still for about 3-4 seconds) But, besides my long ramblings, excellent tips and tricks, good foundations for anyone wanting to try Impossible and agree with most everything said!
The AI really wants to send me to hell bro. I was backtracking and a pregnant and leaped spawned in front of me, and there was a phantom necro behind me
If anybody was wanting to beat impossible difficulty but are having a really hard time. One of the best tips that I can give you is to download your saved data to the cloud, then reload it once your character dies. This will give you a chance to try again! Good luck with the grind my friends
I’ve always known the lore but I didn’t play the original, but holy crap this game kicks ass. Finally have started playing the Resident Evil games over the last 2 years and I’m so glad to be able to play more gems like these in beautiful HDR
As someone that has played the 1st Dead Space a million times, I went into it: dismember, dismember, dismember. I did not know anything about this peeling mechanic. Now that I do, I'm going to smash the rest of my playthrough. Thank you so much for bringing it to light. Subbed.
The flamethrower got such an upgrade in this game! My main is the ripper though I love it so much. It helps me create a safe bubble, it staggers enemy, and is great for ammo efficiency. Also save your HP and CAP upgrades for when you are low to help save some ammo and health items. For the beginning I cut legs then used the stasis and stomp technique to save ammo. Stomping is super powerful. Use kenesis on the pipes with glowing rings on them they are a 1 hit ko. My load out was plasma cutter, ripper, line gun, and flamethrower. I'd love to hear what everyone else uses in their playthrough. Good luck to everyone!
Yeah the flame thrower is awesome in the remake, and I love that they improved the alt fire to be a WALL of fire instead of a flaming grenade. It's so much more useful in a pinch!
Mine is probably gonna be Plasma cutter, Flamer, and Contact Beam. Having 3 will help with ammo. Plasma for General everything and finisher. Flamer for skinning and area control, killing babies. Contact Beam for oh shit moments, killing brutes, destroying bosses, destroying the arms of Armored Slashers(a quick sweep above the head), destroying the wall huggers in one shot if I can time it right
A tip for D Deck of Mining, with special regard to the danger zone you mention. To foil the Infectors, I used telekinesis to move the two corpses into the room you exit from and stomp the daylights out of them. Once you cross the threshold of the door and trigger the Infectors' spawns, you'll be amused to see them frantically scurry around, all but useless without any slashers to make. This removes two enemies from the equation, and you don't even have to put yourself in harm's way to fight the wall Guardian yet. Cheers.
Now that you mention it, I didn’t really think of the “peeling” system like that. That is kinda cool how they made the Necromorphs a bit tougher in the remake but if you pay attention to the visuals of them as you fight them, you really see how you LITERALLY break limbs off the Necromorphs. Good tip, I might start my Impossible run soon!
Good video. I will say one thing in defense of The Ripper however - it is THE single target Necro killer, as every hit from its primary fire is a guaranteed stagger. This can potentially save you in a bad situation in a tight corridor or corner. With the alt fire upgraded it's supposedly good but I never bothered. The Pulse Rifle also has a cheese where you can put the mines on the ground, then upgrade capacity and shoot more and then eventually pick them all up again and sell the ammo for more than it costs to reset the upgrades and it's basically infinite money though this takes a while. Best spot to do this conveniently enough is the tram station at the end of chapter 1 since there is a shop and bench close by. Oh and FYI one well placed Firewall from the Flamethrower should instantly kill a Wall Guardian. That's seriously cheap for just 25 ammo. Also, unlike the primary fire, the Firewall WILL stagger anything that isn't a Brute so use it liberally in the Aegis VII segments to avoid being overwhelmed - 2 well placed shots should keep anything from getting to you and peel too.
Just started my run of impossible and on my playthrough before I did my one gun run and took notes for impossible. Specifically took notes of tentacle grabs and insta unalive sections. Brute locations as they can probably do huge damage and took notes of all master doors and chests I found throughout the game 😁. Biggest thing I can say is mentioned in this which is save at every save station you come across you don’t know what’s gonna happen or when you’re gonna get caught out and need to reload and try again 😁
Thanks for recommending the flamethrower. I recently completed my imposible run with the plasma cutter and flamethrower. Near the end of the game I had 200,000 worth in credits and fully upgraded my suit and both weapons.
Great vid, broseph. I regularly play on Hard mode, so Impossible was more of a regular playthrough, just a lot more cautious. Things that worked really well for me was only carrying 3 weapons. You get a lot more ammo for the big hitters and save money for health packs. My favorite setup was Plasma Cutter, Line Gun, and Contact Beam. The Plasma Cutter is Ol' Reliable. It's accurate, powerful, and only gets stronger. Ammo is plentiful, and cheap if you need to buy them. The Weighted Blades upgrade is super useful for knocking pretty much anything on its ass in a pinch, even works on the Hunter. The Prototype Stasis Module deals damage, and will kill a whole batch of Swarmers with just one blast. The Flamethrower's alt fire is excellent at quickly killing Wall Guardians if ammo isn't a problem. The Contact Beam's alt fire makes Drag Tentacles the dangling part of the Hive Mind fight super easy. It also one-shots regular Slashers if you aim for the chest, and severely messes up everything else. Pretty much ignore its primary fire unless there are necromorphs that are all bunched together. The Line Gun quickly deals with Lurkers and Leapers. You can also abuse the laser trap by shooting it on a box and using Kinesis to mow down everything in front of you, but I didn't do this. When you futher upgrade its damage it will one-shot regular Slashers if you aim at both of their arms and their head. Two-shot for Enhanced Slashers. Doing all of these helped me beat Impossible on my first attempt with my lizard brain.
A helpful tip for impossible, the weighted blades upgrade for the plasma cutter shouldn’t go unnoticed. It allows you to knock enemies back with a punch given that you have the cutter out. Its really helpful in necro ambushes and hunter encounters as you can give yourself some breathing room to deal with the threats without using statis or ammo. It’s also really funny to just slap the hunter away from you while you do something else. In really tight spaces it stuns enemies allowing you to just punch the necromorph to death. The only downside to the weighted blades is that they aren’t accessible until chapter eight.
I used the ripper in my impossible mode playthrough and i feel like its very underrated. Most necromorphs have multiple stun durations with the Ripper and the game loves to flank you with necromorphs in front and behind you. Thx to the stun, you can bypass the necromorph behind or in front you so you can avoid taking unnecessary damage from a enemy that came from nowhere and easily group them together to use the flamethrower, force gun,or contact beam. Its also very ammo efficient to where if you increase the duration of the ripper you can kill at least 2 necromorphs with 1 blade while also saving/gaining ammo for different weapons which you can just unload for difficult parts of the game (ex:cargo bay segment). I wouldnt use the ripper against the swarmers, guardians, hunter, and the pregnants but by that time i use a different weapon paired with stasis. Awesome guide man keep it up
I just finished my impossible run and the Flamethrower was a big part of my success. When it’s fully upgraded, the “one shot” alt-fire flame wall will melt and trap multiple enemies in seconds, and keep them there, while you finish them off with the plasma gun or other weapon. It’s my second favorite weapon to use and I definitely recommend it for an impossible play through.
Totally agree with you. I’ve seen so called expert ranking it as the lowest weapon. For me it is almost the most essential. Killed so many pesky critters easily
@@thoryrTrue, the Force gun is mint against the armored and twitcher necromorphs, but not so good against the lurkers. I do prefer the Force gun over the pulse rifle though.
Btw, the game does NOT convey how powerful peeling is. I did the hunter side mission already but only now realize the power of the upgrade 😂😂 thanks mate 💪💪
It also doesn't tell you how powerful fire extinguishers are, you can severely weaken necros with one hit, kill most uninhanced enemies in 2 hits, and insta kill Lurkers while their tentacles are exposed.
It's weird, the flamethrower is usually the weapon I use the least (if at all) in most games. I love to see that it actually serves a crucial purpose in this game, while still being optional.
One thing I just thought of which is kinda a cheese is running two games at once. One regular hard mode you can run each chapter then switch to your impossible run. So it should be more or less the same. Only thing I think would be different are the drops, and the spawn times for when enemies spawn. The best way to deal with infectors is before you go into rooms pull all the corpses to you and stomp them clean.
33:46 On the lower mining deck section: you can just shoot the left Infector from the room at the start and then the next infector comes from the door in front of you. That way you can easily deal with both at once without any problems.
Hi, i just want to say thank you for making this video. This video helped me beat my impossible run, especially the peeling system tips and the advice on certain parts.
I just became one of the proud Impossible Finishers.. And holy smokes that Hand Canon that you unlock (foam finger) is absolutely legendary! The finger one shots everything in the game! Well worth the headache for anyone who is going through this insane impossible challenge Happy to help where i can
This is the best dead space remake impossible mode guide yet. Wonderful work!!! Currently running impossible and this is an amazing help. Thank you for your hard work on this video!
Yo, this is the best guide OVERALL for Dead Space Remake, regardless of difficulty level. I've been looking for someone to explain the Peeling System and FINALLY found this video. Thank so much for the actual practical tips on how to handle combat! It's actually good to know how both the Flamethrower and Pulse Rifle play a role in combat. In every other tier list, they're always ranked as one of the lowest, but with the peeling System I can see how they're actually crucial! Thank you so much again. 👊
Wow, seriously a great video! I clicked on your video because I want to platinum the game on PS5 and was looking for an in depth guide. I’ve played the original Dead Space several times and I am so glad you explained the peeling system being more than a visual indicator. Im on Ch 4 of my first play through and I was starting to get a little frustrated with the what seemed like a nerfed plasma cutter and pulse rifle. But after seeing your video, I’m actually impressed that the remake has offered a clever way to make combat a bit more complex and rewarding for being strategic, accurate and quick!! It’s actually a super cool addition! Plus, I never really utilized the flamethrower and even the force gun in the original. Its smart that the developers are encouraging players to branch out more and discover what fun the other weapons can be. Admittedly, this applies to me, as I can get a little stuck in my ways on which load I think I should be using. The remake so far is great! I’m digging all the new additions, curveballs and approaches to certain levels. Thank you for the comprehensive guide! It’ll take me more playthroughs to get to impossible mode but at least I can try your tips now and have been pointed in the right direction. People in the comment section were also helpful.
I really appreciate this guide, thanks a lot dude. The peeling and dismemberment section is extremely helpful, I'm doing impossible playthrough now and this strategy is a game changer but it's weird that the game didn't make this abundantly clear on how to use this system. I didn't even know the benefits of the prototype stasis module even though I did the side quest. I'm also relieved to see that I'm not the only one struggling with the final boss when you're hanging upside down, on PS5, it's crazy difficult to aim.
I went for a Plasma Cutter only run for my Impossible playthrough and while I definitely recommend the Flamethrower for one-shotting Guardians and Swarmers it actually was quite easy for the most part. The biggest advantage overall was ammo was never an issue which I found quite valuable. I never picked up the other weapons so the only time I ever got ammo for those was when it was a set drop like when there is ammo next to the gun its for. I was also using more nodes on the RIG which made me harder to kill and less at risk of suffocating in a vaccume and had a fully upgraded weapon as soon as it was available.
Just beat the game on impossible and man, the first thing I had to do was come here to thank you smough. Watched this vid twice in preparation for my impossible run and only died once. The flamethrower was truly my best friend man, thank you so much lmao. Can’t wait for you to get back on elden ring content too bro, GG.
I liked everything shown here except for the weapons. There are upgrades for the plasma cutter that give it fire effect which allows it to either one-shot or two-shot a limb on just about anything not to mention it's damage as well. Doing combo's is just a waste of time and changes the users focus to making sure that he properly executes the combo. You can check Impossible Playthroughs a guy named Pro Solo Gaming played the entire game just using the Plasma Cutter as his main weapon and he did it very easily.
Ok so I had completely misunderstood what the peeling system was. I thought it was strictly a visual thing, not an actual gameplay indicator of a limb coming off easier. Maybe another issue of why they didn't teach players this mechanic is having the 30 kill achievements with each weapon. Like getting kills with a forcegun isn't what that weapon is meant for. Totally makes sense now.
As an impossible player who made it, I would add this. I kept contact beam and saved ammo for it not for the general play but particularly for the hive mind. It’s a constant beam, where everything else is a single shot. Just making contact is good at that point.
Thanks for this, I'm getting ready for my Impossible run very soon, which should be the platinum trophy as well. One tip to add, even if it's kinda lame, is that many of the enemies you find around the ship are actually random spawns, specially in areas you've already cleared and don't need to revisit at the moment. You can usually just pause and load your game when ambushed by random enemies, and they won't be there when you come back. Lame, but effective! Edit: also, the Contact Beam is amazing against the Hive Mind. I didn't use it at all throughout the game, but for the last boss I removed the nodes from the Ripper (which is useless against it) and added them to the Contact Beam. The continuous beam makes it very easy to fire and adjust it to hit the Hive Mind's weak points, including the last one on the upside down section.
I played on console. PS5. It was really enjoyable. I jumped into impossible right away. It was fun. The formula was nearly 100% all the way in the original game. I used only the Plasma Cutter & upgraded my RIG. I didn’t even do the side missions, I just blasted my way through it. I just bought ammo and stasis as much as could and scavenged what resources I could. I also just used their own blades too. It was super fun and was a very smooth play through. Me and bro played it together and we didn’t even die. It was so fun.
on the first attempt I put it in impossible mode, increased the saw damage and deleted everything that came close, simply the most op weapon in the game
I never thought of using flamethrower or force gun for my impossible run. I just brute forced my way with just plasma cutter and lots of stasis packs. Since on my hard difficulty run I find plasma cutter to be the most effective weapon all around. And carrying less weapon making loot containers and enemies drop only ammo for the weapon you carry. For the most dangerous part I find in my impossible run was the fire section in USM Valor. the hitbox of the fire can be wonky at times and might hit you even you move the box carefully. The fire could stun lock you if you didn't move or heal fast enough. I almost lost my run and have to reload the section because I lost a lot of healing item because of it.
Yeh that is my only complaint about the game - it doesn't make it clear how powerful peeling damage is but yeh I'd say a solo plasma cutter run is really solid. Plenty of ammo and when it is upgraded it rips! Yeh I had a similar experience the other day and it stun locks you for ages! Always been the way in Dead Space Hardcore/Impossible - it is the environmental stuff that is the real danger.
A trick I found out with the flamethrower is burning enemies are way more likely to be stagged by melee when on fire. If not guaranteed for slashers and other common enemies. I'd clear entire rooms with 25 units of flamethrower just by tapping them every now and then, kiting, and smacking the shit out of them
Definitely agree on most things here but I would argue the line gun traps are too good to pass up. Even without using their exploit they can destroy hordes on their own. I have never been a fan of the force gun but I could see it having some utility. Personally I prefer the contact beam for those situations where everything must die asap.
some tips - especially for plasma cutter only impossible run (it's very easy). You dont need a flamethrower at all tho i do like that weapon: 1. On the leviathan outside battle, shoot only 13 or 14 times on each weak spot first, This wont trigger the next phase but essentially make it so each node is only 1 or 2 shots from exploding. Instead of finishing off with cannons, use your plasma cutter but angle yourself so you have view to shoot both soon as one explodes. Going to the 3rd one should be simple enough before anything crazy happens. 2. Stomp is your friend. Use after you've taken out a leg. stasis + stomp...do nottt use ammo from jump. The tram replacement area, you should end up w/70 plasma ammo if you do it right. I know there's been confusion about if stomp stunlocks. It does if it's not an elite leaper or regenerator tmk. There's been maybe 1 or 2 times a leaper's gotten an attack in through some weird glitch but you need to smash the spacebar or whatever you're using. there's a decent number of frames where in recovery if you press it again it will not register. idk wtf they did that, but essentially just keep tapping until they're done. try to stomp their limbs or center of back since i think it registers as a small explosion. Do nottt do this with multiple enemies around. Only finishing off or very very small encounters with maybe 2 and the other you dont have to worry about 3. Depending on the space you're in, take out the weapon that best deals with it. Storage rooms for example occasionally have surprises or an enemy waiting outside the door (like barely a handful of times, but enough to surprise you) so dont get caught off guard there. 4. Dont be afraid to take supplies to other areas. Can be a bit grueling but it's very worth it sometimes. Leave them somewhere very easily grabbable and do nottt put items on top of each other as theyll randomly fling somewhere if you grab the item underneath and the game is bugged sometimes where itll literally disappear even in a narrow corridor. Will thank yourself for backtracking moments. 5. kinesis kinesis kinesis. You should NOT be using ammo at all unless it's to 1) dismember the first limb to shoot or 2) panic situation where there's no kinesis items available or too many enemies (and even then after first dismember you should start throwing spikes you rip off them. 6. stasis brutes & shoot their weak spots w/plasma cutter...it's so easy. 7. Upgrade plasma cutter: when you get upwards of 30/40k, you should then be spending on 1 or 2 nodes unless you know there's a new powersuit or you dont have enough yet to save for one. Go and get your upgrades from the security rooms too because they have free nodes in them even if you dont use the upgrade. The fire DoT upgrade is very important.
I highly recommend using the glitch with selling ammo for Plasma Cuter, which gives money that can be exchanged for Nodes. It still works, it wasn't removed by the update.
something that justified picking contact beam for me is how powerful it is even without upgrades. I only started putting nodes into it slightly before aegis vii and was constantly hovering 50-70 ammo for it due to using other weapons to save ammo (and even selling spare ones for inventory), and basically took turns between using it and the plasma cutter as the main decap weapons while being able to save all the nodes. It goes from one shotting with alt fire to two shotting, but its still great and having extra radius on the second fire is icing on the cake.
I loved the original dead space, so I had to play impossible as my first run through this game. I did Hardcore in DS2 back in the day, and wanted my foam finger back😂 I loved how tense it made every encounter. In chapter five I got into a pretty tight spot where I only had three health bars, 8 rounds of plasma cutter ammo, and I had to go into the room with 3 morphs, 1 baby, and the hunter. I thought for sure my run was over. I managed to kite them, place the circuit breaker and proceed to just sprint past everything to Mercer's office. It was quite the thrill. Enjoying my NG+ playthrough with the foam finger trivializing the phantom necromorphs now😂 I did die once too. In chapter two on the way to medical I went into a bathroom and got boxed in by two necromorphs. Only had to restart once. Once you get the prototype stasis module and the force fun, it's over gg
Damn, didn’t even realize the flesh peeling wasn’t just cosmetic until I was almost done with my second playthrough from this video! Thanks a lot! At least I learned this before my impossible attempt.
I HIGHLY recommend using the Contact Beam, it shreds enemies by itself and barely uses any ammo. It is also extremely good in the sections with the tentacles and for the final stand with the Hive Mind. Swinging the beam around is much easier on a controller than using any of the other weapons, not to mention it's doing massive damage more than any other weapon. For me I'd 100% swap out the Pulse Rifle for it, i've already done Impossible and i just wanted to see how others did it since i kind of just jumped into it. I used every single weapon you use except the PR and you mad very good points on everything else. The flamethrower is very important I'm glad you've taken the time to say that, i also recommend using it's alternate fire mode that brings up a wall of fire. This is very useful in the encounters where you have Necro's coming at you from more than one angle. Shoot it at the floor then turn around and deal with the ones behind you, this saved me quite a few times especially near the end of the game. Edit: 35:48 You can stasis this and while it's stasised it can't kill you even if you touch it.
Just beat this game in impossible mode and literally did everything what this man said to do and it was so easy! Just subscribed hoping to see dead space 2 remake guides 🙏🏼🔥
I did this pistol only. Getting to use the hand cannon after all that was pretty cool. I actually wish it just shot of limbs tho and wanst an instant 1 shot.
Didn’t notice the effectiveness of the peeeling weapons , I am a veteran so I just stuck with plasma cutter and line gun. I am gonna switch things up thanks to you!
This vid is the definition of comprehensive. Excellently done, sir. I’m ready to start the grind (last trophy I need) and this guide was very informative. New sub here. Look forward to more of your content. 🤘🏼
I really do think my one gripe with the remake is they didn't actually emphasise that peeling the skin off with support weapons, like the flamethrower and force gun, would actually make dismembering easier. I did notice that shots with the plasma cutter and such would peel skin off of each limb every shot, but I thought initially it was just an indicator for how damaged the limb was.
I like the contact beam a lot, the primary fire laser is a lot more effective than the alternative fire once upgraded. It melts everything and makes brutes a lot easier
Use stasis on the rings around the asteroid to set the SOS beacon. alot of people forget it exists and can be used on anything! Great in depth guide though!
I look up walkthroughs with commentary and weapon ranking videos and they couldn’t do what you just did. The Pulse Rifle, Force Gun, and Flame Thrower were my most ignored weapons first and half of my second time around. I kept relying on the Ripper for using 1 ammo per victim with a reward of 3. I don’t even like the weapon as its noise makes it hard to listen for sound cues. Thanks for telling me about the multiple systems. I completely thought peeling was just for show.
Really can't overstate how powerful yhe upgrade stasis module is. A single blast with strip the flesh off of most enemies in the game. The only exceptions are the enhanced enemies and the brutes. This extra damage for free is very valuable and basically means you are fighting 2 enemies at the same time. You can stasis one while you kill another while the 1st enemy takes constant chip damage and can usually be finished in 2 shots to take out its legs or arms. Very very powerful tool.
My experience: If you shoot the pregnant necromorphs 2 legs with a plasmacutter they don't burst and are also dead. You only find ammo from the guns you are wearing so you never run out of ammo of you're favorite gun if you only wear 1 or 2 guns. On Playstation you can disable auto save to the cloud, i recommend you manually save to the cloud every chapter so you don't have tot start the entire game if you are dead.
Playing it on hard, haven't yet beat the game or unlocked impossible but...holy shit. Flamethrower + Plasmacutter as an tactic is so goddamned effective I can't believe I never thought about it.
I’ve played dead space over and over and for my first attempt I thought why not go all in and try impossible; thanks to you I now know why I’m on my third run and dying because I’m using all my time gathering ammo and burning it rather than burning them and saving ammo🤣 let’s see if third times a charm with this new information 💯
I beat the hardcore run my first try with no reloading on impossible with no foreknowledge except beating the first Deadspace. The problem area's I saw were: 1: The centrifuge, that almost took me out when i got held up for a moment by a controller disconnect. (Took a 5 min break after due to heartrate and general panic 😅 2: The air being removed from medical, I was down to 15 seconds of air when I managed to figure out how to restore the air. 3: I know everyone will bring up the tentacles but I felt pretty safe when dealing with them due to upgraded damage on plasma cutter. 4: Those damn FANS! Every time I had to pass thru one it stressed me out. 5: Late game fight moving the marker. I used my favorite combo of Plasma cutter (single enemies and things i wanted to hit hard)/Pulse rifle(crowd control weapon) / Flamethrower (small enemies) note: i would sell of extra flamethrower ammo to buy extra ammo for other weapons. I focused on upgrading HP/SLOWTIME/ bit of extra air and bringing up damage on plasma cutter to save on ammo then once cutter was upgraded I dumped points into rifle. I really think I had the most fun playing the remake blind. Don't ruin the experience by trying to use a guide, try and get there on your own a few times then come back.
I almost forgot, when you go back thru areas there's a system to spawn attacks on the player. Also, keep a few health kits on hand and a few stacks of extra ammo.
Impossible mode made easy by Spoden: - Shoot the legs, then stomp em out - Sell literally everything and just don't die - Get the flamethrower - Get the contact beam (very important! for killing things in one shot!) - Get the force gun - Blindly run through the whole game because the flamethrower force gun combo trivializes the game - Win This has been impossible mode made easy by Spoden.
If you use Kinesis and Stasis to full effect, you can save up so much ammo in this game, even on Impossible mode. Keep some extra in storage and sell the rest. Buy nodes with the remainder! By the end, I had my suit and four weapons fully upgraded. It was easy mode at that point. Fully upgraded Contact Beam turns the difficulty into a joke. As long as you don’t whiff on the environmental hazards, one-shot-kill enemies, or encounter a run killing glitch, you’re golden. The only necromorph combo that can give me trouble is Pregnant + Exploders. If you get attacked by swarmers while Exploders are heading your way, that can easily end your run. I usually stasis the Preggie until the Exploders are dealt with, but if you have the Flamer (or the Heavy Flamer huehue), that’s also great for Preggies. I don’t personally use the Flamer cuz I prefer the Force Gun but it does make Preggies more of a potential problem.
the fan not spinning until you try go through it is not a glitch. it is a "fake out." giving you a false sense of "lets quickly jump through here" before ending you instantly. the same way the in game music sometimes swells to a 'oh no there shit on the way' but then nothing happens. or it sounds safe lets go then boom. multiple enemies or a sneaky slashed pops up behind you. thrilling
Plasma cutter, line gun, contact beam and force gun. Still the dominant Loadout, but this might be an unpopular opinion but I wish the line gun still has the timed explosives. I loved grouping them all up just to stasis them and then blow them all up all at once saving on ammo and making for a very quick divisive kill.
Contact beam is for bosses, but I'm on ch. 11 and never got a hint on the peeling system, this is a poor oversight by the team. I'll try to use it on the next playthrough thanks.
the peeling system in Dead Space 2023 really makes all the weapons more important. In the original two games, you could just go through just using the plasma cutter and pulse rifle and then just call it a day. Now all the guns need to be combined to really kill necromorphs.
Thanks for watching my guide on Impossible mode! Please subscribe for more Dead Space Cotent
I completely agree with your strategies having found them out on my own the hard way. However I throw a lot more rods at enemies
It took me the whole day but finally made it...thanks for the tip...couldnt stop...now what?
Hey man, i hope youre fine. I used your peeling system and man the flamethrower was something else. One of the best weapons in the game. Did my impossible run with ease! Oh and i got a tipp for ya. So when your dead and you hear the heart stop sound just hold the PS button so youre in the PS Mainmenu and just close the game/application. After that you can just load your save file and the run cant be ruined.
Thank you very much for your help.
As a fellow Impossible finisher, I’ve got to praise you for calling out the importance of the flamethrower. It’s huge. Good job.
Definitely. Flamethrower has the best DPS verse ammo capacity out of all the weapons. Plus I just found out it works wonders on the Tentacles that pop out to smash you
It's easily the best weapon in the game for swarmers, guardians, divider spawn, pregnants and yes even tentacles! That and it's fun to use!
It's actually pretty incredible how Motive made it ridiculously useful, because it used to be almost worthless in the original if I remember correctly
On impossible I had used the force gun and plasma cutter and had a ridiculously easy experience. No match to dead space 2's hard-core mode
Some impossible mode tips I found missing here:
I did my run on plasmacutter. I get it first try. Most versatail weapon and has a realy good melee mod
@@akoss_online nice
Just another tip on kinesis weapon, after killing a leaper or shooting the backend off that’s usually a 1 hit kill/pin
Yeh excellent shout
Depending on how much money you have and how often you get hit, which I get hit a lot by the smallest of enemies, you could spend the 5000 credits to unequip all nodes of your armor and then requip them which heals more than a large health pack which costs 10,000 credits
@@chriskoloski32 refills stasis as well
This!! Saving ammo capacity upgrade till you need it is a life saver
I just conquered my impossible run but just because I haven't seen anyone mention this I want to say
DO NOT underestimate chapter 9
.. there's a part in it where you have to avoid a spinning laser beam that insta kills you.
You're supposed to stasis it and run through a safe gap but I've often found not even regular stasis will make it slow enough and it will spin and kill you..
-- The absolute best method is to hurl a stasis barrel at it which will give it enough juice to slow the laser down enough for safe passage (The stasis barrel is sitting in front of it, easy to see)
That room was literally my only run killer.. there are some other insta death places but ch9 laser is the worst because You're basically on the home stretch.
but I did eventually beat impossible mode:)
Thats actually the only time i died on my impossible mode, good thing i restarted before it counted. I admit i did that a few times to beat impossible mode and im not shamed of it. This game has too many unpredictable things
@@MetaITurtle I hope they remake 2 and 3 so bad
A few things extra and addendums to note:
For those unaware, there is an intensity director in the game that will make certain unscripted events occur from time to time and some can be BRUTAL, so if you do watch a playthough of someone else, keep in mind that you won't get their exact results, in fact depending on how much the AI hates you, you can get absolutely swarmed sometimes, it's all down to what it thinks and sends your way. Improvise and adapt to the situations using Smough's tips and you should still be alright.
Firewall is one of the single best crowd controls in the game outside proto-stasis and needs to be stated more, it will stop everything that isn't a brute, hunter or armor'd necromorph dead in their tracks buying you a ton of space, along with the force gun's gravity well it makes for a devastating combo
Flamethrower is actually one of the best tools for killing guardians, the firewall secondary will delete them in one shot if aimed well and you don't need to get near them. Also prototype stasis will one shot guardians, if you let it sit on them for about 3 seconds
On the subject of prototype stasis, it will actually kill enemies on it's own (Killing a brute in about 11 to 12 shots) along with peeling them and can be used to detonate tendrils (Like in Chapter 10 and 12) through walls, this allows for skips to be done in those sections.
For the danger sections:
Centrifuge is spot on, just take your time and let it work for you, easy enough if you take a breather and wait for the opportunities.
@36:10 The gravity rings have 2 positions on them, look for their "open" position and stand by, when it is swapping positions from closed to open stasis the rings and fly through, also even when they are stopped after planting the beacon THEY CAN AND WILL KILL YOU IF YOU FLY INTO THEM EVEN WHEN STOPPED
@37:18 You can prototype stasis kill an exploder without detonating it's sac, HOWEVER, it WILL detonate postmortem if hit with the stasis again, so still not really recommended, just do like Smough says and use the spikes.
(Watch someone doing the part to get an idea, he basically "focuses" in on Issac, sitting still for about 3-4 seconds)
But, besides my long ramblings, excellent tips and tricks, good foundations for anyone wanting to try Impossible and agree with most everything said!
I played enough XCOM to know that the AI hate me a lot
The AI really wants to send me to hell bro. I was backtracking and a pregnant and leaped spawned in front of me, and there was a phantom necro behind me
Best impossible guide.
They should give an peeling weapon earlier. U don't learn about this.
Small correction! Dividers are also not bothered by the fire wall from the flamethrower. Learned that the hard way in the room with 2 Dividers...
If anybody was wanting to beat impossible difficulty but are having a really hard time. One of the best tips that I can give you is to download your saved data to the cloud, then reload it once your character dies.
This will give you a chance to try again!
Good luck with the grind my friends
Jest pause the game when you're about to die, quit to main menu and reload the save 😉
Subbed.
Game should have explained more .....I was wondering why I was struggling
This video deserves more praise for the emphasis on peeling!
Thanks! Perhaps I need to give the ripper another go!
@SmoughBurgh as long as you don't use the ricochet alt fire, it's awesome!
Contact Beam for oh shit moments, killing brutes, destroying bosses, destroying the arms of Armored Slashers(a quick sweep above the head), destroying the wall huggers in one shot if I can time it right
I mainly used the plasma cutter, ripper, and the line gun. Then I did the line gun laser trap cheese most of the time lol
Best Impossible guide anywhere on the internet
Thanks for recommending the flamethrower. I recently completed my imposible run with the plasma cutter and flamethrower. Near the end of the game I had 200,000 worth in credits and fully upgraded my suit and both weapons.
Best guide I've ever seen for Dead Space Impossible No Death Run. Truely impressive
Whats your favorite?
The Plasma Cutter of course.
I would go for the force gun personally
@@thoryrTrue, the Force gun is mint against the armored and twitcher necromorphs, but not so good against the lurkers. I do prefer the Force gun over the pulse rifle though.
I think that for me using kinesis (rods or tubes / Claws) is still one of the most effective way to kill enemies.
Btw, the game does NOT convey how powerful peeling is. I did the hunter side mission already but only now realize the power of the upgrade 😂😂 thanks mate 💪💪
Aye it really doesn't tell you that it is basically one of the pillars of the game! Thanks bud
It also doesn't tell you how powerful fire extinguishers are, you can severely weaken necros with one hit, kill most uninhanced enemies in 2 hits, and insta kill Lurkers while their tentacles are exposed.
I love people like you who make good guides man, godsend
Excellent guide! Much appreciated!
It's weird, the flamethrower is usually the weapon I use the least (if at all) in most games. I love to see that it actually serves a crucial purpose in this game, while still being optional.
Pro tip, you can stasis the gravity ring in the asteroid mining bay. It trivializes that bit of the area.
Oh shit. Can you do the same in og?
Love the Demon’s Souls music in the background. Thanks for the guide!
Smough I'm glad you've branched out bro. Can't wait to see what you produce 😊.
Thank you my friend! Me as well
33:46 On the lower mining deck section: you can just shoot the left Infector from the room at the start and then the next infector comes from the door in front of you. That way you can easily deal with both at once without any problems.
Superb ty. Just started the remake on normal and the guide is invaluable. Played DS through twice already years ago.
Hi, i just want to say thank you for making this video. This video helped me beat my impossible run, especially the peeling system tips and the advice on certain parts.
Great video. The explanation of the peeling mechanic was very good, keep up the great work.
These tips are amazing! The flamethrower and then cut the limb is a game changer.
I just became one of the proud Impossible Finishers.. And holy smokes that Hand Canon that you unlock (foam finger) is absolutely legendary!
The finger one shots everything in the game!
Well worth the headache for anyone who is going through this insane impossible challenge
Happy to help where i can
This is the best dead space remake impossible mode guide yet.
I'm also relieved to see that I'm not the only one struggling with the final boss when you're hanging upside down, on PS5, it's crazy difficult to aim.
a tip I've heard, and am trying to use myself is use the contact beam. Apparently it makes it easier to use.
Line rack trap on an object you can hold with kinesis = OP
That's awesome to hear my friend! Thank you so much, super pleased you got the W!
Now the pulse rifle makes sense! Thank you!
Very cool insights on the flamethrower. I'll be trying it out on my first impossible playthrough!
Thanks my friend! Honestly has become my fave weapon.
As an impossible player who made it, I would add this. I kept contact beam and saved ammo for it not for the general play but particularly for the hive mind. It’s a constant beam, where everything else is a single shot. Just making contact is good at that point.
Yeah I think it's the best tool for the job, especially for that final phase.
My brothers and sisters from Smough town got it all covered..💪💪💪🇵🇷 This guy is really good..
Nice guide! Subbed! I love the dead space remake!
Thanks for the tip of the flamethrower, I never used it in the original. I’ve always been a force gun/plasma cutter guy. I’ll have to give it a go.
I was the same! Especially in DS2. Honestly, I was blown away by the flamethrower in the remake
I died to a guardian running from the hunter but my quick reaction of quitting to main menu saved me
on the first attempt I put it in impossible mode, increased the saw damage and deleted everything that came close, simply the most op weapon in the game
I'd clear entire rooms with 25 units of flamethrower just by tapping them every now and then, kiting, and smacking the shit out of them
Your advice directly contributed to me beating my first attempt at an impossible play-through! 👍
Definitely agree on most things here but I would argue the line gun traps are too good to pass up. Even without using their exploit they can destroy hordes on their own. I have never been a fan of the force gun but I could see it having some utility. Personally I prefer the contact beam for those situations where everything must die asap.
Another tip is that reloading your save often despawns the enemies that were previously present in the next room or hallway or whatever
some tips - especially for plasma cutter only impossible run (it's very easy). You dont need a flamethrower at all tho i do like that weapon:
Only finishing off or very very small encounters with maybe 2 and the other you dont have to worry about
Using the Atl fire of the Flamethrower will auto kill the guardians most of the time
something that justified picking contact beam for me is how powerful it is even without upgrades.
Enjoying my NG+ playthrough with the foam finger trivializing the phantom necromorphs now😂
I did die once too. In chapter two on the way to medical I went into a bathroom and got boxed in by two necromorphs. Only had to restart once. Once you get the prototype stasis module and the force fun, it's over gg
This is a masterful breakdown smough keep it up, hope all is well with you!
Damn, didn’t even realize the flesh peeling wasn’t just cosmetic until I was almost done with my second playthrough from this video! Thanks a lot! At least I learned this before my impossible attempt.
I managed to do the impossible mode. Thanks for the guide. It gave me courage to win the trophy in the correct way
I HIGHLY recommend using the Contact Beam, it shreds enemies by itself and barely uses any ammo.
I always feel guilty using it haha. But I guess you've 'earned it' after Impossible.
Flamethrower is SOOO underrated. Fully upgraded that thing saved my ass so many times on my run lol
Thank you for a in- depth guide the force gun is my close range go too and the Pulse fully upgraded.
I died my first two runs, but after watching this video and using the flamethrower more. I completed the game first try, thank you!
I really do think my one gripe with the remake is they didn't actually emphasise that peeling the skin off with support weapons, like the flamethrower and force gun, would actually make dismembering easier. I did notice that shots with the plasma cutter and such would peel skin off of each limb every shot, but I thought initially it was just an indicator for how damaged the limb was.
thank you for pointing out the aiming f!cking sucks at the last hive mind section, i'm surprised not more people say this.
Thank you! Also: use the contact beam on the final upside-down segment!!
The problem area's I saw were:
1: The centrifuge, that almost took me out when i got held up for a moment by a controller disconnect. (Took a 5 min break after due to heartrate and general panic 😅
2: The air being removed from medical, I was down to 15 seconds of air when I managed to figure out how to restore the air.
Impossible mode made easy by Spoden:
- Shoot the legs, then stomp em out
- Sell literally everything and just don't die
- Get the flamethrower
- Get the contact beam (very important! for killing things in one shot!)
- Get the force gun
- Blindly run through the whole game because the flamethrower force gun combo trivializes the game
- Win
This has been impossible mode made easy by Spoden.
The one and only death i had was the flappy electrical cord (right after a brute fight)
Thank you very much for the all the effort you put in to provide this video. Kudos 🙏
Thank you so much! Really pleased you enjoyed it
the fan not spinning until you try go through it is not a glitch. it is a "fake out." giving you a false sense of "lets quickly jump through here" before ending you instantly. the same way the in game music sometimes swells to a 'oh no there shit on the way' but then nothing happens. or it sounds safe lets go then boom. multiple enemies or a sneaky slashed pops up behind you.
I love how everyone thinks this mods was hard I had a blast doing it and found it easy to do tue impossible mode for the remake
Exactly. Impossible Mode in the Dead Space Remake is barely any more difficult than the medium difficulty. It was a piece of cake.
the peeling system in Dead Space 2023 really makes all the weapons more important. In the original two games, you could just go through just using the plasma cutter and pulse rifle and then just call it a day. Now all the guns need to be combined to really kill necromorphs.
