I collect those church lady, plastic spiral bound cookbooks. I have so many, most from my Nanny, other I find at yard and estate sales. Honey we get a kick out of them. Im telling you, these old recipes leave us when these wonderful old cooks pass. They take them with them. I’m so happy to have ran across this recipe of yours. I’m going to make this when my brother is over. He and I are the only grandkids who remembers eating what ever my sweet, Godly Nanny Richey put in front of us. ❤️ from Alabama, Jenny T.

Thank you Paula ,I wanted a recipe for years. I’m 65 and my grandma made that for me when I was a little girl .I’ve never made it so I’m going to make this today thank you Paula😘

My mother made this alot when I was growing up, and it so good made it just like this, and sometimes she would put whipped topping on it thanks for sharing this with me Paula. RIP my loving Mother.
I was so addicted to rice pudding when I was pregnant with my daughter who just turned 20 years old! I still love it now! This recipe looks delicious!!💞
My Mom use to make rice pudding all the time, when we were little, and it was always so good, this makes me think of her... I loved your dish pantry, it’s beautiful.
I enjoyed this video. My Dad loved Rice Pudding so I made it for him when he visited. Sadly he left us a number of years ago and I never made it again. Now watching you enjoy cooking and reminiscing I can't wait to bake your rice pudding. Thank you.
I starting cracking up when Bobby said "No secrets here!" 😄 I could listen to Miss Paula tell stories about anything and everything. Love and best dishes❤
I LOVE these videos!!! And I love Paula more and more with each video I watch. She never fails to make me smile and laugh. What a lovely human being!!!
I'm not a cook and will probably only try a few of these recipes because of my lack of ability in the kitchen, but I just love watching Ms. Paula. She's so cute and funny! Watching her makes me smile and makes my day!
Good morning everyone...Rice Pudding😋 I'm drooling already this morning. This is one delicious dessert . My momma made this all the time when I was a kid. She doesn't like to cook much anymore...they eat out alot now. But she has a magical touch to her rice pudding and most of her dishes. Mine just doesn't turn out like hers. But mom's and grandmother's have a magical touch with food they can make it to die for. Love you Paula ♥️😘 Everyone have a wonderful day and week ahead love you all ♥️😘🤗🌞
You are so right. They have a way with food! I have a cookbook from my grandmother's little church she went to. There are so many of her recipes she contributed to that book. When I make something she made, it's like she's there with me. My sweet Me-maw went to be with Jesus two years ago at 96.
Is it me or are the videos getting better and better and better?? Rice pudding wow. My mother used to make that all the time. She used to use cinnamon sticks though. Paula is right - it does bring back memories. Oh and Eddie thank you for the quick tour of Paula’s very beautiful home!!
I just loved not only your yummy rice pudding but all your lovely happy cute dogs, you always bring a smile everytime I watch you Paula , a breath of sunshine ,in the kitchen. Love your dishes, from a top fan from across the miles New Zealand.
I am a true lover of baked dessert rice pudding, so when I saw this video this evening I had to give it a try as the ingredients are thing I had on hand. I added an extra egg and all of the condensed milk because I like mine creamier. No raisins for me. I topped with brown sugar before baking and added sliced candied pecans when serving. I thought it would have been sweeter with the condensed milk. For my taste I would have added some brown sugar and a dash of vanilla and almond extracts before baking to increase the flavor and sweetness. I had a nephew try it-we concurred, interesting but will stick with our family version of the recipe.
Rice pudding never goes out of style. That and bread pudding are way up on the top of the list of my favorites. I prefer the rice pudding cold and the bread pudding warm, but hot or cold, either way is perfectly fine with me really. Thanks for posting.
I absolutely love rice pudding. I add a good amount of vanilla to mine. Sometimes, I will also put a dab of almond extract in, too. It's got to have the vanilla, though, for sure.
I started making rice pudding for the first time in my life during the pandemic! Those three times so far, I have cooked it in the crock pot. I started making it because I had quite a bit of milk left that I needed to use up before it went bad. Not because I have leftover rice. I rarely cook rice. It was a good reason to start cooking rice more often! I'm considering adding craisins next time.
My mom would only make baked rice pudding. She used milk, eggs, sugar and vanilla over rice. Always raisins and nutmeg. I loved it!! She made for my kids. I need to try your recipe. I haven’t had it in years
This looks so yummy and comforting. I just love your household. It reminds me of mine with the furbabies all around your bare footed self. Keep them coming. Really enjoyable
i just loved the pantry!! I just felt like a grandchild again in my grandmother's kitchen!! Just loved the colour of the orchre orange cabinets as well -- love to do this with old furniture - refurbish, or if it doesn't have a nice oak wood, beneath -- paint it and give it an artisanal, one of a kind ... look.
Do you know why we all love you so? Because you’re just like us and aren’t afraid to let us know! 😘😍😊 As for rice pudding, My husband and I absolutely love it! I would make some today now that I’ve seen this video, but I promised to make my husband a peach cobbler this afternoon - using one of your videos, of course! Bless you! Thanks again for these quarantine videos! I try to never miss one!
These cooking classes remind me of being with my grandmas n mom in their kitchens when they were teaching me to cook. These classes are more fun than food network.
My grandma used to make rice pudding with leftover rice. She was a fantastic cook! She did use milk and vanilla. Ps. I just love you so much. From a 50 year old woman from Oklahoma.
Let me tell you something ma'am, i grew up in rice pudding and it's by far my very favorite dessert. I too use the minute rice, 🙊😶😶 shhh don't tell my family. But let me tell you out comes out perfect every time. I noticed that the regular rice takes forever and who has that much time?? Plus the flavor profile is just perfection with the minute rice. I don't bake it. i cook it over the stove and i don't put raisins in it.. But in my Mexican cuisine we always add condensed milk & evaporated milk. You can't use one without the other 😁 sometimes when i want to eat it a bit different i add coconut slivers and coconut milk. Boy its 🔥 Anyways i enjoy your videos so much. You are just a sweet soul to watch
I have long looked for a rice pudding similar to my great Aunts. She baked hers as well. I remember it being buttery and having some orange zest in it. 😋
My family made rice pudding so differently. It was long grain rice cooked with water on top of the stove as per directions. Then it was let to cool sometimes overnight in the fridge. We never really measured anything but put milk, butter, white sugar, lots of raisins, little bit of salt in the pot with the rice, brought to boil and cooked until thickened. Removed it and let cool a tad and added vanilla. We had no cinnamon, nutmeg, eggs or condensed milk in it and it was not baked. Usually we ate it after it had cooled and had extra for refrigeration. It was delicious. It was a lot like eating sweet sticky rice and wonderful raisins.
Oh my God that's a beautiful pantry!, I love dishes I have so many..... lol I would love a tour of not the whole house but like the kitchen and pantrys and what not. And it's called Yorkshire pudding. 😊
My mom made this and put buttered bread on top with cinnamon and baked it. It’s absolutely delicious and easy to make .. custard recipe, cooked rice.. buttered bread leftover is good to use and add raisins are good .. nom nom.
My granny did. and she put raisins, cinnomon, can milk, eggs , butter brown sugar , vanilla ,and baked it mmmm!!! Good!!!! gona have to make some been a long time thanks for the reminder??
Hi Paula. Love this show. I’ve learned a few things from watching your channel. Not putting down rice pudding but when I was growing up, my grandmother made rice custard. It’s a sort of rice pudding with about an inch to two inches of custard on the top and boy was it good! My grandmother was and still is the best cook I’ve ever known. Unfortunately, she passed away several years ago at the age of 106. I should have gotten most of her recipes before she passed but I didn’t. Fortunately for me, my aunt gave me a few of my grandmother’s recipes and rice custard was one of them. My aunt gave me what she could remember and I did a little research to find a recipe like the one my grandmother made. I came up with something very close to it and wrote the recipe down. I haven’t eaten it in years because now I’m a diabetic and rice is off the menu for me but I still remember what it tasted like. It was heavenly!
We just Love you Paula! Thanks for inviting us into your home. I get excited when I see a new show uploaded. And thanks for the dish pantry tour too! Its gorgeous!
Just made this as I had all the ingredients in my pantry, and it is sooo good. Thanks Paula for another amazing recipe! Making the fig cake tomorrow for my husbands birthday.
I feel like I was there in person. I love hearing your stories, seeing the boys pop in, meeting the four-legged for babies .... too cute🙂 Thank you, Eddie for showing the "dish room". I didn't know that was a thing😂
We ate a lot of rice when I was growing up. My dad didn't do a lot of cooking but I remember Sunday evenings he made rice pudding from the leftover rice. If there was leftover rice pudding the next day, it was going d for breakfast. This recipe brought back memories. I've always done fried rice with my leftover rice and had completely forgotten about rice pudding! And I love rice pudding!
That looks delicious!!!! It gives me very fond memories of when I would get home from elementary school and my grandmother would always cook rice pudding in a salmon color square dish with plenty of raisins! 😋When I saw the dish on the stove I would always get so excited. 😄(she raised me) 💕💕 Thank you, Paula ❤️
Jan, it looked like: 2 c. Cooked rice, 1 beaten egg, 1/2 can sweetened condensed milk, pinch salt, 1/4 t. Cinnamon, dash nutmeg, 2 t. Vanilla, 1/3 c. Raisins, 1/4 c. Melted butter.
Paula thank you for putting up the retro recipes. As we move into cooking season (yay!!) I look for those good, tried and true recipes we grew up eating! Don’t forget about us in fall, the sides (yes those WONDERFUL SAME OLD THANKSGIVING SIDES) because that’s what most everyone of us remembers and still enjoy eating. XO 😘 LOVE you, Paula!
Omg. I loved this whole video!!!! The dogs, your son, dish pantry!!! Oh yeah def gonna try this different version of pudding. Thank you SOOOOOOOO much for these videos!!!!!
Love watching you, Paula! Your house is beautiful! My late dear Daddy loved rice pudding with raisins. He also loved raisin pie. I miss my sweet Daddy and dear Mommy. Love ya! 🌷💗
I Love rice pudding. Especially the baked kind. I have used leftover rice for pudding, but also freeze it for soup also.I agree Paula, raisins do make the pudding.
My mother made hundreds of rice pudding during her lifetime. Daddy loved sweets and rice pudding was a favorite of his. I wish I could taste mother’s delicious rice pudding again. She never used canned milk and daddy hated raisins and so does my husband.
I look so forward to these videos! I just love them! My Daughter and I just love your kitchen, home and family! Eddie, ( I think it was a Edie) thank you for the tour of the dish pantry. My dream home has room for at least 20 sets of dishes and all the linens to go with them. Love you Miss Paula!💜
I just love love love these quarantine videos! They’re so much fun and so casual, y’all are all great! Eddie and Theresa too!🥰 Blessings & hugs from north Louisiana! Natchitoches, home of the Louisiana meat pie festival and Lasyone’s meat pie kitchen!
That Eddie is such a great camera man! Paula looking for those ramekins and Eddie looking for them while giving us a mini tour at the same time! I really enjoyed that. Thank you, Eddie! 🤗
If you don't want to use sweetened condensed milk, I've always made the Rice Pudding in the BH&G New Cookbook. We love it! It has 3 slightly beaten eggs, 2 cups milk, 1 1/2 cups cooked rice, 1/2 cup sugar, 1/2 cup raisins, 1 tsp. vanilla, 1/2 tsp. salt combined well, baked in 10x6x2 glass baking dish 25 min. @ 325 F. Then you stir it, sprinkle ground cinnamon on top and bake until a knife inserted halfway between center and edge comes out clean, 20-25 min. longer. We like it warm or chilled.
Can't go there. My mom is Korean, and I had to do the dishes. There is NEVER left over rice, and it's NEVER eaten with anything other than hot foods. I pick every grain out of the dish to this day with chopsticks or whatever. She lived through WWII, and the Korean War... they used to use rice as glue too. I've got some stories, and so does she.... everybody does! Right? That's why we come here.
Korean Accord 한국 평화 When I was in Korea I had something so unusual and so delicious-and I don’t know if it was just something that was a one time deal or if it’s a real thing, maybe you can help. It was basically burned rice that had stuck to the bottom of the pan and had then been scraped out and broken into pieces. It was one of the best snacks I’ve ever had and I have tried to recreate it a couple of times with no luck. Am I crazy or is this a thing? 감사합니다 !
@Stephen Smith I, too, lived in Korea for a while and I think that scorched rice is puffed. I don't know if you can recreate it at home. Maybe OP will know better. Or you can try to Google "Korean puffed scorched rice."
Leen 霖 Yes! That’s it! 누룽지 ! 대단히 고맙습니다 !! Now I just have to figure out how to make it. I’m thinking that’s not going to come up on Paula’s Quarantine Kitchen! Thanks again, 霖 !
You are just magical! Its nice to watch your videos! I've grown up in the kitchen with my grandmother and my husband LOVES rice pudding. He's a yankee so he loves some southern cooking! 😁
I love the baking and turbinado sugar idea. I've never done that before...Using pistachios or cashews are wonderful (Indian rice pudding). Delish! xoxo
Thanks so much for sharing this ! I’ve been waiting for a rice pudding recipe. My grandmother was the only one that made it from the south! I’m going to be able to carry on with the tradition now 😊.
Hi Paula I just tried your Rice pudding. I'm 80 I've tried other recipes. So I stopped makeing it. Well not anymore. THANKS ☺️ for the greatest rise pudding ever. Great job Patti Schneider
Yes, it brings back childhood memories, and I’m glad you did this video. I’m going to make this for my granddaughters, they’ve never had it but they’re going to love it. Can’t wait! ⚡️💖⚡️
Love rice puddin'! Must have homemade whipped cream (that's been flavored with almond extract) on top & I use craisins instead of raisins. Delicious! Thanks, Paula, for the reminder to make this hearty dessert. It's even great as a breakfast!
I did make a stovetop rice pudding when my kids were still with me: not baked and i just used enough brown sugar and milk to thicken it up: I didn't make it quite so sweet as i used to sneak it for breakfast!!
I love how she's always spontaneous Cooks in her bare feet doesn't mind sharing her home with anybody and it's like you're right there with her.
THANK YOU! I've been watching videos for the best easiest recipe and I found it here! No water, no milk, no simmering, you just shortcut the heck outta that pudding!....and I'm here for it!

It’s like being a guest in her kitchen-a very welcomed guest! Thank you, Paula!
I would add toasted pecans or walnuts; soak the raisins in dark rum. For more flavor a small amount of dried ginger.
Zachary Lavender ... WOW ... the ginger sounds amazing 🤗
That sounds amazing 😋
Zachary Lavender I love your additions and I will try.
I was thinking the same thing about the pecans. I hate raisins, and the ginger sounds amazing!
That sounds amazing. I was thinking rum flavored raisins too! I do that for bread pudding as well 😊
All these years I threw out leftover rice after 3 days and could have made dessert with it lol. This is easier to make than I thought. Thanks Paula. I love watching you. You are a breath of fresh air.

I just love it when Paula walks off to get something!🤣. I get so tickled! She’s the real deal!!💝
Yum I’m going to make this recipe ASAP !!!!! God Bless your precious family ❤️🙏🏻🇺🇸
My mum made it all the time for me growing up....miss her and her rice pudding! ❤❤❤
Yessss! Both ny Mom and Grandmother would make rice pudding! Made the entire house smell so wonderful!
I love her home that kitchen and that pantry 😱 there was like 3 kitchens within that kitchen.
I love rice pudding and tapioca pudding! I am going to make this one day this week! Thank you!
The recipe link does not lead to the recipe you made today, it’s a different rice pudding recipe!
I was about to say that very same thing. She used about 1/2 of a can of sweetened condensed milk, not half and half.
write it as you watch like with your momma so recipes. because you have to measure those pinches of this and that out.
and grandmama never measures
I know you can make caramel out of sweetened condensed milk, I wonder if that's the flavor? Or maybe I'll stick to half and half or milk
Jan, it looked like: 2 c. Cooked rice, 1 beaten egg, 1/2 can sweetened condensed milk, pinch salt, 1/4 t. Cinnamon, dash nutmeg, 2 t. Vanilla, 1/3 c. Raisins, 1/4 c. Melted butter.
My Mother’s Aunt was a Lunch Lady at my Elementary School. She made the most Delicious Rice Pudding. I loved her Rice Pudding.
I have those same measuring spoons. They were given to me from my husbands grandmother 💗 I cherish them.
Love ya! 🌷💗
This is what I love more than a formal show. Talking to one another.
Yorkshire pudding?
I hope, that you never experience an earthquake in you kitchen! All these beautiful dishes!
I d love a tour of your beautiful house and pantry

I just made rice pudding the other day. My husband loves it. Thank you for your recipe of it.
I understand your directions better than other people’s. Thank you!
Oh wow!!! That’s your pantry???? HEAVENLY for a cook ❤️❤️
Plan on trying your B,H & G cookbook rice recipe that you posted here.
It’s so great to see you all back in the kitchen, one good thing that the quarantine done y’all ❤️
Can't go there.
감사합니다 !
@@SuperManning11 I think what you're talking about is Nurungji (누룽지)
Oh, come on. There's that shikae or something -- sweetened puffed rice dessert.
And it's not wasting to make a dessert.
@Stephen Smith
I, too, lived in Korea for a while and I think that scorched rice is puffed.
Whenever I hear rice pudding, I tank of my uncle’s mother who was known for her recipe. It does bring back memories.
Delish! xoxo
My mom always made too much rice and after supper would make rice pudding. We loved it.
Can’t wait! ⚡️💖⚡️
Love rice pudding 💜💜💜 I'm going to try this recipe. I buy Kozy Shack rice pudding in the Refrigerator section of the store and it's delicious 😋
We never, ever threw away any food . We make chinese fried rice with left over rice . So good!
Love rice puddin'! Must have homemade whipped cream (that's been flavored with almond extract) on top & I use craisins instead of raisins. Delicious! Thanks, Paula, for the reminder to make this hearty dessert. It's even great as a breakfast!
I need a good bread pudding recipe. I do not like sweets usually, but I love good bread. That warm cinnamon roll taste and bread gets me every time
My father-in-law made THE BEST rice pudding, with a hint of lemon, YUM!
Oh I love rice pudding, bread pudding and any custard. I have a baked rice pudding or custard recipe and I put it in a water bath in the oven to cook.
My mother baked her rice pudding also... I haven't made that in years... Looks wonderful
I did make a stovetop rice pudding when my kids were still with me: not baked and i just used enough brown sugar and milk to thicken it up: I didn't make it quite so sweet as i used to sneak it for breakfast!!
