Hi Bold Bakers! It's time to make some Rice Pudding: bit.ly/CreamyRicePudding
Yum
Bigger Bolder Baking hot rice pudding is where it’s at.
Love u yaaaaay 😘❤️😍
Go for it!
Could you use a slow cooker? Probably not because of should be stirred? Thanks gemma
Hot or cold rice pudding? The only answer to that is “yes.” I like both.
Yess and yesss 🤤🤤🤤🤤
Same.
I like cold more than hot but both are good
I love cold but hot is ok to
Yesssss! Love rice pudding! Yummy!
I love the fact that even though Gemma is an established RUclips "star", their kitchen looks like anybody's kitchen, instead of a "cooking show" kitchen at home (as some celebrities do)--inckudibg a messy fridge! 😀
You know it, Deborah! Thanks for watching. :)
I think so too...it makes us feel right at home. Feels real and good. I am really enjoying these quarantine family sessions.
Yes, fridge looks like mine. Normal life!
Not really it's shaped like a hex
I love that you don't just teach us the recipes, you teach us why you use what you use & share your hard-earned experience!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Hot rice pudding here in Australia with nutmeg sprinkled on the top.
For diabetics...cinnamon offsets the sugar...
Canada Québec here love the nutmeg into it sometimes i take a hole teaspoon in my mouth... and drink down a couple of sip of milk HAHAHA
And baked with knobs of butter and nutmeg
Jeni10 Absolutely, in fact I’ll make a big pot to day. Temp is 9 dec Celsius wet and miserable. Umm winter comfort food.😋🇳🇿
I eat it hot when freshly cooked, but there's always plenty left for next day which I eat cold.
Unless it's a cold morning, then I reheat it with a bit of extra milk and eat instead of oatmeal.
Neither hot nor cold: WARM!! That's how I grew up eating rice pudding.
I haven't had rice pudding since my grandma made them for me when I was little. It looks delicious and it really makes the memories flow back to me. A comfort food indeed
Gemma you have actually united the world with this one recipe. The base ingredients remaining same with variations only in flavours... thank you for this.
Watching baby George is my favourite part now...😍
In Denmark we “boil it in our bed”...yes actually. Bring it to the boil/simmer. Wrap the pot in newspapers and a blanket and put it to bed with the duvet covering it. Forget about it for a couple of hours. Perfectly cooked and no chance of burning.
It’s an old farmers trick from way back when, when the mattresses were stuffed with hay which kept people...and porridge warm 😃😃😃
Thank you for sharing.
Omg, people laugh at me when I tell them how I make "Milchreis". I'm German and I grew up making it like that. Now living in France people eat it cold and I fight a lonely battle trying to convince my friends to eat it hot.
That’s so cool thanks for sharing
@@SanniW7 yes! i grew up on Michreis. Sometimes we had it as our dinner. There were 5 kids in the family and money was tight. My mother always used some beaten egg whites in hers. This made it more fluffy. Are you familiar with this method? Shes gone now so I can't ask her. I was wondering if this was a german thing. If so, how do you do it?
@VivaColoratura It's remarkable how so many different people have the same way of doing things. My native american side of my family practices this as well and have for a long long time.
It’s so interesting how we’ve got different versions of this all around the world... in Peru 🇵🇪 it’s “Arroz con leche”
In Uruguay too. We just add an egg yolk whipped with suggar at the end of the cooking
Also we add cinnamon on top
In Cuba it's called arroz con leche too lol
Green Tea&mint we do that too in Portugal but we call it arroz doce.
I love my rice pudding créamy just like yours! However My Paraguayan husband likes it with lots of liquid......traditional in Paraguay and always served cold.
I’m native Texan and I love love Warm rice pudding!! It’s just sooooo comforting!! We also add a lot of cinnamon and touch nutmeg!
Thanks a ton Gemma! Love you so much!❤
You're welcome!
In Norway we eat it hot on saturdays as dinner with cinnamon, sugar and some butter on top. 😊
Same in Denmark, though usually only around christmas. It's important to note that the pudding itself hasn't any spices or sugar.
In Denmark we don't have milk and cookies for santa, but we leave a bowl of rice pudding for the nisse (elf) that supposedly lives in the attic of the house.
That is how we do it in my German family as well. There is no specific day or season we would it though. My absolute favourite comfort food. My sister loves eating it with applesauce which I feel is so wrong.... but oh well, everybody is allowed to do what they want. We just make it differently than Gemma... 😃
Same here in South America, Suriname 👍🙋🏽♀️✌❤
Same in Greece. We eat it hot or cold. Only cinnamon on top and a light dusting of powdered sugar. Whole milk, vanilla, and some butter make it flavorful.
Looks absolutely amazing and delicious
I hope you’ll give it a go. Thanks for watching.
I love that the comments are filled with childhood memories and traditions
Me, too. And we get to learn how bakers around the world make theirs!
your baby is adorable!
Thank you!
Bigger Bolder Baking You had a baby?! I’ve been living under a rock too long. Still, my mom would make rice pudding, or Arroz con Leche.
Very delicious and George is so cute when he’s waking up
This is our kheer ❤️ I'm totally on the cold rice pudding/kheer wagon! I love how food is pretty uniform in its shape and form across the world! As is it would make my day to be served with a bowl of warm kheer on a cold day in Ireland! Keeps us united in a way! Love from India!
I love it! Here in Brazil we call it “arroz doce” - sweet rice. I prefer cold. 😁
Here in Spain we take it cold, and add lemon peel, we call it “ arroz con leche”
In Portugal we call it arroz doce. Everyone’s favorite but mine. Seems like a world desert.
Marilo Monje same but in Honduras and Nicaragua
@@ninoskaalaniz6233 My goodness, it really is a worldwide desert. Indians and Pakistanis eat it as well. The Indian said they use cardamon instead of cinnamon (which sounds delicious btw, I'm also a massive fan of their garam masala blend).
@@saintejeannedarc9460 cool
Im Mexico I call it arroz con leche to
If you use sugar/jaggery, cardomom powder, saffron(optional) and some nuts like pistachios, cashews, raisins etc instead then it would be called Kheer which is an Indian desert.
I was going to say the same, it's like an Irish cousin of Kheer!! 😋
Delicious
Thank you for sharing,
Can I use plain rice, not the starchy one?
Sh. Shelin i don’t think you’ll get the creamy porridgey effect but it could work. It’d just be like rice cream soup.
Wonderful,I was just taking about making some.Thank-you!
Go for it, Linda. Here's the complete recipe www.biggerbolderbaking.com/creamiest-rice-pudding/
It's looking so yummy, I love it thanks for sharing
Growing up in South Africa, we always had our rice pudding hot!
I'm an Indian from gauteng S.A. living in prague and we use cardamom and cinnamon in the pudding for Indian prayers especially. I'm gonna make me some to feel at home!
Thank you for sharing.
Thank you for sharing.
In India, we call it "Kheer". We add sugar to make it sweet & also add dry fruits like Cashews & Raisins.
Also known as Payesh in Bengali, and we like it cold.
Carnarolli rice is my favourite and the best for risotto. Thanks very much to you all, and stay safe and well, love from England. xxxx
Just got done making this and I’m sitting here enjoying my bowl! It’s amazing! I managed to find all the same ingredients at Walmart! Including the rice and butter!
Well done, Heather.
aww is that your son? he’s adorable ♥️
Thank you, Laila.
@@GemmaStafford He was really very cute. Loved the glimpses of seeing him💖
Hi Gemma, in India we call it kheer. We add sugar and saffron into this.
oooh my that sounds amazing
Another youtube cook mentioned that rice pudding came from India to Britain in Victorian times, like kedgeree did, so we have India to thank for delicious pudding. 😊
Just made this ! Super Yummy! I have been looking for a good rice pudding recipe for years. You have provide the solution. Thank You and Thank your Mom too!
Well done, Lynn.
I can't wait to try your recipe. So excited, I really like your tutorials.

Go for it! Here's the complete recipe www.biggerbolderbaking.com/creamiest-rice-pudding/
@@GemmaStafford I am gonna make this too! It looks so creamy and delicious!!!
Rice pudding was a favorite dessert when I was growing up back in the 1940's and 50's, but where yours was always served hot, mine was always served cold. My Grandmother and Mother always served it cold, and they added raisins to their pudding while it was cooking. I've never had it hot, or with a dollop of jam, but it sure looks wonderful, so I would definitely try that. Looking forward to ding just that. Very nice video, and George is adorable!! 🤗😍
Thank you for sharing, Sandra. Go ahead and give this a go. Here's the complete recipe www.biggerbolderbaking.com/creamiest-rice-pudding/
Yes we love the Behind-the-Scenes cam! It makes the whole video so homey 💞 Love watching your quarantine videos with your whole family, keep it up!
Thank you so much for your feedback! Stay tuned for more!
I love it hot in the winter, and cold in the summer, it is very satisfying all season long.
I totally agree!

My Irish great grandma always used nutmeg in her rice pudding and grandma would do her version in the oven. I am ashamed to say I never made it but will have a go.
Sonia Pieczenko my grandma always sprinkled nutmeg on top! It was always so good!
Go ahead and give this a go. Here's the complete recipe www.biggerbolderbaking.com/creamiest-rice-pudding/
I'm originally from Tyneside in Northeast England and my mother and grandmother both made rice pudding with nutmeg, and in the oven too. We often had it for Sunday after the roast beef dinner, in winter. And served with Carnation milk plus a dollop of jam on top. 😊
i love that, we have that in Egypt and we called it rice milk
This looks Incredible! I love the creaminess!!
I hope you'll give it a go!
Love it so much, thanks for recipe 🥰
Glad to hear that! You're so welcome !
Looks awesome, definitely brings back nice childhood memories!! My mum would use nutmeg instead of cinnamon and evaporated milk instead of cream because cream was just for special occasions!! 😋
Thank you for sharing.
*Cold rice pudding for breakfast!*
Hot is okay too, but more flavorful cold to me for some reason.
Thank you for sharing, Jo.
We loved our rice pudding growing up in Dublin, very comforting in winter oh the memories of comfort food.
I love it really warm, it seems to accentuate the flavor ❤
Eat it hot in winter time, and cold in summer time.
I just love rice pudding. We always had it hot when my Mum first made it but then we’d have the leftovers cold. She always made hers in the oven. I do too. Baby Georgie is beautiful 💕
Thanks a million!
So great to see you and your family. Love your rice pudding.
Thank you so much for the support 😊
THANK YOU!!! My mom just requested this for her birthday next week and I wanted an easier recipe. Definitely making this. Thank you again!
You are welcome. Well done, Sarah.
We ALWAYS have rice In our kitchen ,w never go a day without having rice I have to try this immediately I might add a bit of coconut milk to go with it and some mango on the side of the plate !!⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I've been wanting to learn how to make rice pudding for a long time. Thank you for this video🌼🌼
You literally just have to simmer rice in milk. Thats it! You dont need these extras like vanille extract or cinnamon ;) Just add some sweet stuff when its finished like cinnamon-sugar or apple sauce.
You are welcome.
I love rice pudding, never had it hot, enjoyed the way you exsplain hope to see more of you,!🐾♥️🐾♥️🐾♥️☘☘☘🇺🇸
Having made your rice pudding recipe today I will never do it any other way, so lovely, thank you.
I'm delighted to hear that! 😊
I love both! I’ll have some while it’s hot, and cool the rest for later and eat it cold!
The two camera angles are nice and you are looking GREAT! 🌹
Love the new recipe. Thanks 💗
You are welcome.
I am going to make this! Looks delicious.
Go for it, Sonia. Here's the recipe www.biggerbolderbaking.com/creamiest-rice-pudding/
I love it both ways it just has to be homemade! Definitely
Delighted you like this very popular comfort food!
My nan made rice pudding in the oven. It was so delicious, especially the crust you'd get on top. 😋
My mum also made rice pud in the oven. Oh it was so lovely on a cold winter night
Yes, cooks well in the oven; but stir regularly to not get an awful crust...lol.
Can i pre-rinse rice? I know it washes starch, but its more to clean impurities put from rice
My Mom made it in the oven too! The best. I love it with raisins too. Years ago I used to make it that way but recently I couldn’t find my written down recipe and searches online just where not the same! I will never cook it on the stove so I am out of luck until I find the right one!
@@vbella39 My Pillsbury cookbook has a good recipe, but it is with cooked rice.
Hi GEMMA, we love Rise Puding in Slovakia.
My mum adds eggs yolks and meringue at the end.
As a kids we use to eat it hot, now I like it both ways.
Little George is so cute 🥰
Thank you for a delicious recipe. Definitely it is a comfort dish. Very easy to make

Sorry, I’m a cold rice pudding girl! Can’t wait to make this! Thank you for this awesome recipe!
You are welcome!
Like that it is creamy....my preference is warm rice. Will have to try this recipe. Thanks for sharing
My mother made this for us...I love it
I’m Puerto Rican and we also have a version of rice pudding called Dulce de Leche. It’s very similar to yours and is traditionally served around Christmas. It’s traditionally served cold, but my sisters and I always snuck in a serving of it while it was hot, fresh of the stove. So I love it both ways. 💕
We call it Arroz Con Dulce 😋😋
Love it❤
From South Africa....luv rice pooding
Thank you.... love rice pudding!
Hope you enjoy !
Hi Gemma! In Latin America (Costa Rica) there is a very similar dish called "arroz con leche" literally meaning "rice with milk". It is quite traditional, and some times there is also debate about hot or cold. I like both but prefer it cold.
Thank you for sharing.
Hi Gemma and Kevin. Hope you guys are doing great. I like my rice pudding/ Kheer hot in winter and very cold in summer. Never lukewarm or warm.
Yummy recipe!
We eat it both ways in Greece. I like it cold too. I love rice pudding! My mom use to make it for us! Brought back memories! Thanks for sharing! ❤️
Thanks for sharing.
both hot AND cold rice pudding are delicious! I had a creamy 'Greek' rice pudding which was to die for! But this sounds similar so I'm RIGHT there ready to try it! ♡ thank you for your great, fun videos! Organic and/or raw milk - cream - can be healthy...
Thank you for sharing this here, Debra. This is a forgiving recipe, you can change the ingredients except the rice and get what you are craving for.
I never knew hot rice pudding was a thing! I will have to try it!!😁
Go for it, Evan! Here's the complete recipe www.biggerbolderbaking.com/creamiest-rice-pudding/

Looks delicious recipe.
what a surprise, I was just looking to make a simple yet nice rice pudding recipe. Thanks.
Hope you enjoy!
I eat it hot when it's done fresh n I also enjoy it cold as well. I love a good old rice pudding. In the Caribbean (well St. Lucia we refer to it as "sweet rice")
Thanks for sharing!
It's called that in Trinidad as well!
I was taught to eat rice pudding cold- and we used leftover, already cooked rice.
So glad to finally find a recipe for rice pudding that didn’t include eggs! Looks yummy and I’m going to make some today. Thanks Gemma. Lovely family!
You are welcome.
So good to find this. I love rice pudding yet it’s terribly expensive to purchase ready made. I also love Kerrigold butter. I have never made rice pudding but you can bet tomorrow will be the day! You are an Irish blessing! Thank you from Tennessee, USA!
Thank you for the kind words, Vikki.
Early again!! That looks🤤👌
Go for it, Srindhi!
Hi Gemma! Great dessert! I love rice pudding! Here in Spain we just call it "rice with milk" hahaha And we add a lemon peel to the milk for some light aroma (and we remove it when serving the pudding) I've never tried it with jam, I will do it next time for sure!
Greetings from Barcelona! Stay safe!
Thank you for sharing.
My mother always served ours cold with a drizzle of golden syrup. Delicious.
Love your videos! From My beloved Ireland 💚

great video, super recipes always
That startle reflex Georgie was doing: my sister used to call it the "newborn baby rap".
Why don't we go cold in the summer and hot in the winter
Indeed. Very sensible.
I can’t wait for the weekend to make it🐨🦘
Yummy with puri. Little and puffy fried flat bread. stay safe love from South Africa
I have only had rice pudding hot. But my mom would make it in the oven.
does it have a "crust" on the top when you bake it in the oven?
Much nicer ... and then instead of jam, golden syrup or honey - but then it must be hot.
Thank you for sharing, Jules.
