My granny just did it in the pot or pan. Leftover rice, milk, cinnamon and raisins. A touch of vanilla too. She went through the depression. My sister and I loved it. Granny let us sprinkle sugar on top. A way to do it if you don't have time to bake it.
After everyone had a good serving of buttered rice at dinner, honey was stirred into the rest. After dinner it was a great dessert. It also made a great breakfast with the addition of a bit of cinnamon while heating it up in as much milk as wanted 😁
There are a lot of novice cooks here. You're the first one I've come across to tell viewers how to test if the pudding is done! Very important detail. You always can't assume people will know. Lot of viewers too don't know what and why the addition of certain spices enhances a dish. Thanks for posting.
Kevin, since I only discovered your channel days ago, I'm having a lot of fun catching up on your videos. There's not one video I've watched that I wasn't mesmerized by. It's truly a therapeutic experience watching you bake, cook, garden, shop, or even clean. Last night I sent a friend a link to your channel and it was one where you were cleaning the ashes out of your fireplace and polishing the wood. Cleaning my fireplace is always something I dread, but watching you do it was zen like :) How fortunate Mr. Fox is to have someone like you making a delicious and healing comfort food. It's raining here in California today so I'm making a pot of split pea soup for dinner and will surprise my husband with this delicious dessert with our evening tea. We like raisins in baked goods but I think I'm going to use dried cranberries tonight. Thank you for another fabulous recipe.
Charmed that you used a consomme cup and saucer in which to serve your rice pudding. Very creative and attractive. I'm late commenting because I just discovered you about a week ago. So glad I did! 🙂
Well, since you asked - I'm one of those people who loves raisins in my bread pudding, or rice pudding, and even in cinnamon rolls. I also put raisins in my cole slaw. Go figure. But your point is well made when you remind us it's "your" pudding or cinnamon rolls or cole slaw, etc. I'm sure that your versions are tasty and delicious, so please continue to "have it your way". One of the reasons I like fixing recipes "my way" is my ability to add or delete what I like. That's what making recipes my way is all about. Thank you for all that you do and for the variations you offer!
IM FEELING BLAH TOO… I NEED RICE PUDDING TOO…🤣😂‼️OMG! Talk about COMFORT food?? Egg custard, rice pudding, tapioca pudding are 3 of my food groups🤣😂🥰♥️‼️🙋♀️☮️THANK YOU DEAR HEART! Mr. Fox will certainly feel better!!!YUM!!💕🤭
I’m with you, Kevin! No raisins in anything. I do like them on their own maybe not as much as you but my husband loves them in everything! Love to watch you in your kitchen. I love how everything you try is fabulous! It looks it! Loved the rosettes going to look for one. Lots of love from Boston.
My Grandmother made the World's Best Rice and Raisin Pudding, looked different than yours, but yours looks delish! I am making it tomorrow with Raisins that have been soaking in high-quality Rum for two months, with my homemade Vanilla Extract. I can wait, Will let you know. Thank you 😀
Oh My Kevin! Another winner ! My mom baked hers also & added golden raisins ! So delicious but the peaches would send this over the top! Thank you so much ! I was able to save most of my mom's recipes but missed this one! She would have loved your version even more! Thank you so much Kevin!
Luckily everyone on my side of the family loved raisins. My husband and his family with the exception of his dad didn't like them so I came up with an alternative idea. I rehydrated dried cherries, cranberries, pineapple, mango, apples or I'd add nuts (sometimes this was a combination of these fruits and nuts or I'd just choose one). Of course I adjusted the spices between, cinnamon, allspice, clove, ginger and mace. Garnished with homemade whipped cream, a couple of the dried fruit or nuts pieces and a sprinkle of the condiment used. Haven't made this year's since most of our families are decreased. It was nice of you to think of your friend. Thanks for sharing.
This looks phenomenal, Kevin. I definitely have to make this. How comforting for Mr. Fox. You are so kind to make it for him while he’s under the weather.
I love rice pudding but somehow I never made it because my sister in law always makes it for me when I go visit, now I can make it myself. Thank you Kevin, I hope that Mr. Fox will be feeling like himself again. 😊
Raisins everywhere, please! In Chile we make a dessert called "arroz con leche", which is rice with milk. You cook the rice (on the stove, not the oven) in milk with sugar, lemon or orange peel and cinnamon. It can be served cold or warm. It's creamy and delicious. It can also be cooked with evaporated milk or a combination of evaporated and sweet condensed milk. My mouth waters as I write this!!
Wow Kevin I love rice pudding and I have wanted to make some for such a long time... but couldn't decide on a recipe I am making this tomorrow! what a wonderful treat for Mr. Fox I hope he is feeling better very soon. I like raisins in mine but what a great idea with the peaches!! I think I will try it both ways💕👩🍳 thank you for being the best I truly mean that!!!! I very much enjoy you and your channel... my regards to Mr. Fox hope you are both staying warm and safe. 🥂🍾👨🍳
My German mother-in- law used sliced peaches in her rice pudding. She cooked the rive in mild. It was then baked. Delicious! I enjoy everything you do.
Super wonderful! I grew up with baked rice pudding. I love the peach idea, and agree with you that raisins are great by themselves, but no good in baked stuff! Thank you so much for sharing!
Kevin…you are really special and adore you for the time and effort you put into sharing your time and wonderful recipes. And I really envy your friends and neighbors ❤
Hi Kevin, my mom used to make rice pudding, but she never put raisins in it, and I make it the same way. This recipe looks fabulous, I'm going to make it soon, oh BTW I love the dishes that you use, this one and all the other ones.💝💜
I love raisins every possible way they can be used in baked goods and I also love them by themselves!!! I sometimes plump my raisins in warm water or rum depending on how they are being used. I haven’t had rice pudding is a very long time-I need to try your recipe, except with raisins--and then again with the peaches because I love peaches!!! I’ll bet this recipe would be delicious with pineapple as well!!!
I like to add cardamom as opposed to nutmeg and always golden, dark and diced peaches to mine! KLJ is my favorite channel! Cannot wait for Christmas 2022 vids! I want to see his decorations and of course recipes.
I am one who dislikes raisins totally. My love for bread pudding is profound. The idea of peaches had ascaped tell your showing. Know I cam have the bread pudding I have wanted fir so long Thank you, Thank you Russell La Cour in Tucson, AZ
Hi Kevin, your recipe looks good. Personally I’d add raisins and cinnamon as my Grandmother did years ago. I do appreciate the fact that you can personalize the rice pudding to your liking. Thanks for sharing and inspiring us to make this delicious dessert.
Oh wow! I love rice pudding! This looks yummy. And I'm with you Kevin. I like raisins by themselves but not in baked goods at all. I think I'll give this a try when it gets cooler. 😊
Definitely going to try this with some plant-based milk as I have a family history of Cancer and need to avoid all the estrogen in dairy--thanks for posting
Hi Kevin! Made this today but...assembled it yesterday and refrigerated overnight to see if it would avoid separation whilst cooking... Worked like a charm. Always made mine stove top with raw rice. Your recipe is dreamy. 💕 visiting with you. Thank you for how easily you make us all feel like family .
Nutmeg cinnamon Yummy Thank you for sharing 🙏yummy. I used to make rice pudding left over rice but I always cook it on the stove. I will try this recipe soon have a great day 🙏💃🕺
The lightly browned custard which contains the Rice Pudding creates a delicately jiggling mold that with the peaches outshines the white grain. / My Scottish mother used to use Thompson raisins in Italien meatballs, Bread Pudding & Oatmeal Cookies, but in not much else. / I used to put raisins in coleslaw.- But, in Rice Pudding, neither one of us. / Happy hours & days. // D.C
I can’t wait to try your rice pudding! I like the idea of using peaches! I use an old English recipe. Preheat oven to 300*. Combine 1/2 cup uncooked white rice, 1/3 cup sugar, 1 quart scalded milk, I pinch of salt in 13x9x2 inch baking dish. Dot the top with 2 tablespoons butter. Place pan in oven and stir every 15 minutes for 1 hour. Top with nutmeg and bake undisturbed for another 30 minutes. No fruit needed. It is creamy and delicious! Your china set is lovely, too!
Love this recipe, Kevin. My Mum made milk pudding. Two tablespoons of rice, a pint of milk and it was cooked forever ( about 250). Had a skin on top. Very delicious. But your recipe looks Devine. Thank you for your gentle manner in presenting the cooking. I’ve tried several recipes and they always work out well. Tomorrow will be the zucchini fritters followed by the corn fritters.
i am 1 of 10, my mom used raisins in everything for filler & to stretch. none of us like raisins now except i love white raisins in my weird taco casserole with black olives and pineapple. (raisins are soaked in tequila b4 cooking) and now i add brandy to rice pudding and bread pudding. kids luv it.
Kevin I like this recipe and have made it. Both my mother and grandmother made rice pudding a lot and they ALWAYS added raisins ( and cinnamon), so I guess I like having them because they were always included as I grew up. But I like the idea of trying peaches too. I have never tried dead flies so I have no comment on those remarks! I love your little two-handled pudding dishes, and your beautiful china. My preferred china is Fiesta Ware. Although Homer Laughlin made similar two-handled pieces in Fiesta, they were called "French Onion Soup" bowls, come with a cover and are extremely rare and thus hard to find, as well as being the most expensive Fiesta pieces if one is lucky enough to find them. Yours look so nice and appropriate for a dish like this.
Thank you for the video and recipe! My Mom would make us rice pudding with raisins, but I never cared for the 'boiled' raisins bits in it either. I don't mind them in oatmeal-raisin cookies or stirred in to oatmeal, but not 'boiled'. The flavor and texture are unpleasant to me. It was super nice of you to look after Mr. Fox and make him the rice pudding with the peaches. I bet it was divine and tasted very good to him. You are the best of the BEST. Please take care and be safe. 😄💖🙏
I’m in total agreement . Raisins on their own, great. Not in things. I never thought of peaches in my rice pudding and I love peaches. Thanks for that idea.
You are such a thoughtful friend. Shingles are a challenging issue; I had a vac yrs. ago. Re: raisins, I let them soak before use. Also, have found that nut milks do not allow the puddings to thicken like milk. Your dessert looks so delightful, especially with peaches.
Thanks for the idea of diced peaches. One of my sons doesn't like raisins in anything either. I think the peaches will be a great substitute. I hope to be making this soon.
You are so sweet to do this. I’m sorry Mr. Fox feels down but I’m so proud of him for getting the vaccine. I had shingles and it is absolutely the worst!
I am going to start the shingles vacc8nes soon, just how does it make you feel, a doctor is never honest on stuff😂, oh its ok means watch out to me, lol.
My comment about raisins well it depends on what raisins are being put in ! No i dont like them in rice pudding yes i like them in hot cross buns for lent & Easter... Peaches sounds great in rice pudding gotta try that🎉... Your funny when your not trying to be makes me smile & laugh this is a compliment😅❤
We eat rice almost everyday but never in my life to cook or to see anyone around me to cook the rice in this way😊 thanks for sharing, I will definitely try this recipe. We usually use the rice flour instead of rice. And steam instead of bake.
Love raisins on their own and in rice pudding as well!
Love them in oatmeal too!!!
What beautiful China to serve it in
My granny just did it in the pot or pan.
Nice touch!

This recipe convinces that the best rice pudding is to be baked. -And, how lovely with peaches!
I really like it when you explain what a particular seasoning is for. It is really helpful in understanding the use of each one.
Charmed that you used a consomme cup and saucer in which to serve your rice pudding. Very creative and attractive.
I'm late commenting because I just discovered you about a week ago. So glad I did! 🙂

I like my rice pudding with only rice, no add ins. It’s just comfort food times ten. Rice and custard. Luv it that way
Luckily everyone on my side of the family loved raisins. My husband and his family with the exception of his dad didn't like them so I came up with an alternative idea. That could be called a hodge podgy allsorts dish
The peaches are a brilliant idea!
This looks phenomenal, Kevin. I definitely have to make this. How comforting for Mr. Fox. You are so kind to make it for him while he’s under the weather.
Another delicious recipe. I enjoy your videos so much. I especially like that you are a real person, not some overly rehearsed or perfect phony.
I do not care for raisins in or out of anything. Love the peaches in the rice pudding.
The peaches, look very good, in pudding, will try !!!! Thanks
I totally agree about raisins in cinnamon rolls, peaches sound delicious in rice pudding. Another recipe I’m gonna make. Thank you Kevin❤
I love rice pudding but somehow I never made it because my sister in law always makes it for me when I go visit, now I can make it myself. Thank you Kevin, I hope that Mr. Fox will be feeling like himself again. 😊

I have always thought those tiny wisks were a joke. You are the first person I have ever seen use one. Thank you
You did it again, now I have to make rice pudding with peaches, I don’t only like raisins in oatmeal cookies!
Hi Kevin, my mom used to make rice pudding, but she never put raisins in it, and I make it the same way. This recipe looks fabulous, I'm going to make it soon, oh BTW I love the dishes that you use, this one and all the other ones.💝💜

I feel the same way about raisins! I have never had rice pudding or bread pudding for that very reason!! 😂
Peaches and raisins still yummy enjoy your day 🙏
Love your recipe. In Denmark we eat ricepudding with ,homemade, cherrysauce on top and diced almonds in the pudding. For shure no raisins in there.😀
I love raisins on their own and in things!
I love rice pudding, Kevin...
How sweet of you to make something special for your Mr. Fox. This looks delicious. I love rice pudding!
Brought back fun memories of my mom cooking this! Thanks for sharing. I'll definitely be making this one without any fruit.

I like the raisins IN food, not out...just the opposite! Perfect recipe and not difficult. I would sprinkle cinnamon on top. 🍧
Looks wonderful I like the dark raisins in the pudding myself.
I'm the same way with raisins.
Great recipe! My son loves rice pudding, now I know how to make it.
