Oh goodness, my Grandmother was a purist. Absolutely no almond extract. Granddaddy would pour coffee in his saucer and put a tea cake on it to soak. The recipe had disappeared for years; I was visiting a great Aunt and she had it written on the back of an envelope. What a joyful day! I made them for my Daddy right away 😋

I have to add that my mom always rolled out the dough and just took a knife and cut the cookies into free form rectangles, because her grandmother had done it that way. So I do too.

“Don’t give your mama no lip!” 😂🤣 😂 Mrs. Paula, I have heard that myself a time or two! I have never had a tea cake and will certainly be trying this recipe. Love your videos! It would be so awesome to hang out there with you and your lovely family! We would hee haw all over ourselves! Have a wonderful day!
