The 5DMARKIII came out in 2012 and even though we are in the age of the R5 and R6 mirrorless cameras there are still a lot of people asking me whether they should get the older 5DMarkIII. So today we will run through the specs, I’ll talk about what I’ve used it for and whether or not it might be the right fit for your creative needs.

I still shoot a 5D Mark III. It’s still producing great images. I’ve finally upgraded and am waiting on my R5 to arrive. My Mark III is fighting for it’s life, just creating solid shots.
Did you ever upgrade your Firmware from the original in the 5D Mark III?
I still use mine after 9 years, I love this beast, I dropped it so many times, even down concrete stairs, this is probably one of the strongest camera out there, I will keep it till it died! I also like the picture and video quality for me the look seems more organic, I don’t care too much about 4K, HD is more than enough for me.
For my needs of photography, the 5D Mk lll is still a capable camera today. The quality of pictures it is capable of producing matches even today’s modern mirrorless cameras. For me it is still a keeper.

Cool video mate! I remember back in the day when the 5diii was the most sought after lens for filmmakers because of 1080p 60 and I was so close to getting it but then the sony a7s came out and ever since then they have always been trying to catch up to sony for that small form factor camera that shoots great video.
Love Sony cameras - I think the new Canon C70 is looking very promising as I make a decision on my first Cinema camera :-O

Enjoyed this one buddy! Honestly if you can pick up of these for a good price on ebay, it's a perfectly great camera if you pair it with some good glass. I remember reading somewhere they used a bunch of 5d mark II's on Mad Max and some other hollywood movies for some of the action shots, and that's even older! I guess the only downside for me personally is the lack of 60fps and higher at full HD. Wouldn't hesitate to use of these as a backup/secondary camera on a photoshoot though!

All the magic lantern footage I seen from this camera is so freaking organic its strange it can achieve such film look before you even put a LOG file and grade it.
I bought two of them for our budding photography business, to replace our aging 7D bodies. It's literally night and day, with the same familiar menu's and settings. The mk4's are still twice as much on the used market. Sure, Id rather have two mk iv's, but it doesn't justify the price right now. Honestly IF I wasn't a canon fanboy I'd go for the D850 instead, but that's another story.

I have bought the 5D iii, I do have the 5D i and 5D ii as well with 7D. I want to experiment on each of the cameras, oh yes I just paid for the 5D iii with the battery grip for £500, reasonable price? Learning curve from 5D ii to 5D iii is quite steep to compare with 5D i to 5D ii. Loving it, maybe.

Still a great camera. I just invested in the 5DS just didn't want to put down 4 grand when released. Just got one new US model for 1k. And love it! The mark iii is still excellent too.

I shoot the either R and need a back up photo cam. Planning on getting the iii for a backup or b cam for photo. Bmpcc6k is my main video cam tho.
Just bought a used 5D MK III last year for my birthday for about 650-700 somewhere in between. No regrets but sadly my 50 1.4 has failed on me before I got the camera so it’s a hit or miss when it wants to focus. I haven’t used it’s full potential like I wanted but I did recently buy a Sigma 18-35mm so waiting for that to come and I do have a 300mm F/4 I’m going to use when I go shoot drift & track events

Depends what you want to shoot - for wide 16-35mm 2.8 L lens, for everyday the kit lens 24-105mm L lens - for events and weddings I also love the beauty maker the 70-200mm 2.8 L lens 💪👍👍

Great question - what is your budget? If you can afford a more modern full frame like the 5DMarkIV I'd say go for the MarkIV (:
