Great review on point, im switching to canon from the entry-level nikon d3100 wud u recommend these as my first full frame camera? Or is there something better with same price range 😁
abduallah nader Thank you! If you’ve never shot full frame before, you’ll love either one. If you’re not interested in video, I would even save more money and try a used 6D mark i or 5D mark i or ii. You’ll love the images. I actually switched from Nikon to Canon too and one of the reasons was because Canon lenses tend to be cheaper so I got to try more lenses witht the same budget which make it more fun to shoot.
@@HyunRalphJeong thanx for the tips, will definitely keep an eye out for any good bargains. And im gonna get a 50mm prime lens as a start for my new ff camera
I recently bought the 6d mk2 after watching several reviews on the Internet. Yours was the one that convinced me that it was the camera for me. Lots of reviewers pretentiously bashed this great device and it seemed to me that they were frustrated that it didn't have the same features as a 5dmk iv despite costing significantly less. The truth is that many of us just want to take great pictures just because we enjoy it without necessarily having to pay 4000 dollars body and lens. I wanted a camera that would be a good upgrade from my 2000d in terms of image quality, low light performance, burst rate, depth of field and usability and that's exactly what I got. Thanks for the reviews which are always comprehensive of our expectations. Couldn't be happier with my 6d mk2 which cost me just 1300$ used with its lens.
I love these two cameras. We wanted to get 5D mark III but we couldn’t afford once we hit the road, living on a budget doesn’t allow us to upgrade cameras yet, so we invest in lenses. Love this review.
Thank you :) I pretty much only buy used gears and trade them in quite often so I consider them more like long-term rentals. I bought one used 5D mark iii a year ago for $1100 and just sold it this week for $1000. Which for the use that I got out of it, is not a bad deal at all haha.
thank you for mentioned dual memory cards advantage. As a wedding photographer, its a must for me to use 2 memory cards: 1 for Raw, 1 for medium sized JPEG ( smaller file, should be safer & faster to burn into memory card)
Since I own a 5D Mk lll, I am glad to be reminded about all its professional advantages. As a photographer and not a videographer, this camera still serves my purpose even to this day in 2023. The only other thing I bring these days is my iPhone 15 ProMax and I am set. Thanks for your straightforward review.
I've just stumbled on this video. I really enjoy your unbiased no nonsense work. A humble but very professional video maker. There are a lot of video makers could learn a lot from you.
Excellent presentation style. Very clear and to the point. I’m in the market for a 6d, and Ralph hit all the important points I need to consider. I wish more vloggers used Ralph’s approach.
I was saving up for a Canon 5D Mark IV but checked out my local camera store here in Seattle. I was able to get the Mark III body used with 47k shutter count for $760. They also had others ones for $899. Only flaws on mines was the a small spot of black on the body was fading probably due to tripod use since it’s in a weird place.
So the 6d mark ii is great for filmmaking/video? And will buying a good lens with low F stop help with the quality. Want to upgrade from crop to full frame without breaking the bank at this moment.
Ralph, another brilliant technical user comparison. Historically always a Canon advocate but my last full frame was the Nikon D850. Positively one of the best still photography camera I've ever used. However, as a vlogger it is somewhat lacking. I think in future I will revert back to the 5D line purely for the industry's best Dual Pixel AF. Thanks mate!
Thank you Tim! Yeah I'm stuck with Canon because of Dual Pixel AF and the flippy touchy screen lol. I'll be reviewing the mark iv and the eos r soon so stay tuned!
Clear and concise point for point review. If you are looking at both these cameras then this should help immensely. Glad the price points are coming down on both these cameras.

Hi Hyun, quick question that might sound stupid, but i currently have a 200d, flippy screen dual pixel all of that, i don't use the flippy screen at all BUT, my main "work" is mostly on farm animals and stray cats, dogs etc, so i often shoot with live view with the camera super close to the ground to get the most dramatic look on the strays i see. My question is, is the live view mode on the 5DMKIII any good at autofocus or will it be the most frustrating thing ever? side note: i also don't really use face tracking or continuous autofocus in live view (might be dumb of my part haha) thanks
Only if I seen this video much earlier I would have bought a different camera. But on well. I am pretty happy with my 5D mkiii. Thanks for the good video btw.

I just bought the 6D MKII from Canon itself.. I got it refurbished for $880 I was gonna buy an EOS R but if I do that.. I want RF glass too.. I still want the EOS R but the 6D MKII will serve me well for awhile..
Lack of a thumbstick is no longer a disappointment. You can customize the d pad on the 6dII to move the autofocus point without pressing another button. 🙌
Very helpful video! It was no-nonsense and not self-serving. I have a Canon T6 and I’m looking to upgrade to a full-frame. I’m not a pro, so I think the 6D Mark II is going to fit my needs. Thank you very much for this excellent review!
Dude did you shoot that opening? Super pro! The 6D is incredible. I've worked on film sets that used those once. Great footage. Yea you can hear the shutter difference. Enjoyed your overall review and comparison.
This is useful information since we're looking to buy a decent old camera for our trips. The 6D image does seem cleaner in lower light, which is always a pain point.
The Canon 5D Mk III is like a V8. Mirrorless cameras are like turbo-charged four bangers. They are highly efficient but don't expect any rumble. A V8 is a V8. For the same reason, after I bought and used the Sony A6000 for some three years now I still keep my Canon 5D Mark III. Since the Mk III is bigger and heavier my best recommended combination is the 40 mm 2.8 pancake lens.
Dude. I've been searching for ages trying to figure out what I should buy. Your summary at the end made it so much easier for me. I can't see me using a DSLR for video all that much, if at all. I'd love the connectivity features of the 6D Mk-II, but even when you buy these secondhand there's a £300 price difference...
@@datnt__7943 actually no, but if you want the DPAF and the flippy screen, then it's a good "upgrade" I guess? But I simply can't ignore the organic image (in video) that comes out of the Panasonic S1H. So I will have to save up a lot more, and get that one.
All im intetested in is pictute quality and being able to use the camera indoor for events like weddings without using a flash. What is the noise like?.
It all depends on what you consider as "acceptable." Between these two cameras, image quality is almost identical. The 6D mark ii is slightly better in low light but not by much. What camera do you use now?
But the 6d is not a serious video camera, because it doesn't have the headphone jack. I'd say if you are a videographer buy the 5d mk3 and you can always install magic lantern later if you're missing anything.
I hope you can help me. I have a canon 600d which only have 18 mp and the canon 50 mm 1.8. I am going from hobby to getting paid as a photographer. So I was thinking I need to go full frame and was thinking of canon mark 5 d IV, with a canon 24 70 2.8 lens. I photograph families, kids, newborn and maternity and noticed that many others who shoot that, is using that gear. Would this be the right choice for me? I photograph a lot outside, so I need it to work well in low light too. I need to upgrade, because I want sharper and more professional looking images.
Still debating between the 5D Mark iii and the 6D Mark II... Just getting into full frame as a hobby/traveling - nothing professional.. lol.. and i'm more about taking photos than video and I don't really care about the dual-slot. Does it still make sense to buy a used 5D Mark iii over a 6D Mark ii despite it being older than the 6D? All the bad reviews on the 6D Mark ii around the web is making me rethink about buying
It all depends on what you're doing. Canon cameras in general are not very good at heavy post manipulation but they are great at making images look natural and a lot of people prefer their color science. I find images from 6D mark ii more than good enough for most people and it's better in low light than the 5D. If you don't care about dual card slots, I'd say just go for the one that feels better in your hands haha. I prefer the size and control of the 5D but the 6D is almost 200 grams lighter. Go to a local store and try them out.
@@HyunRalphJeong Thanks for the quick reply. I think I will try it in store first, but I am definitely leaning towards the 6D Mark II. Thanks again for your video! it was really helpful

Base on yoir review... I think if i ever decide to buy one to vlog.. 6D please.. I want a dual AF and 60fps plus flip up touch screen.. should come in handy plus its slightly smaller
hey @Raph i found your channel couple days ago i subscribed at the same time because you remind me my primary teacher the way you're explaining things lol, i want some advise from you i'm self taught a video director i'm about to buy a 5d mark iii for my productions videos and photography (event, wedding...) before i want to work as a freelance so is a good camera for video that 5D mark iii ? i don't have enough cash
Hannah Knight A good question. My understanding is the 5D mkiii is the better “all around” choice. Both would seem about the same for sports. But for portraiture, having more AF focus points covered, and controlled by a dedicated joystick, you can get focus on the subject’s eye with a large aperture without recomposing (which then can create an image out of focus since the focal plane shifted). The images that come out of the 6D MkII look better to me here, but if more so you’d not nail the shot compared to the 5D MKII any quality improvements don’t count for much. Both could be available to rent or borrow. Seeing how each performs with your lenses and style of shooting should help a lot.
Loved this video it was very informative. However I have a doubt. I currently have a Canon 750 D. I basically create content around beauty, fashion and lifestyle. I want to upgrade but I’m confused between the Canon 6 mark 2, Canon 5D Mark 4

I still use my Nikon D700 for some of my more "professional" shoots but I am looking to switch body. I definitely don't need 5D Mark iii but 6D Mark ii is something along the lines of what I am looking for. Would Nikon D650 in the similar class as 6D Mark ii? I was looking into..D650... still a bit too expensive for my budget tho. I need something that does video and still well like 6D Mark ii but I am already pretty heavily invested in Nikon lenses. Great video! Production quality of your video is simply amazing.
I would say D750 would be closer but they are still very different cameras at this point because of video...I actually started from Sony and moved to Nikon, and then to Canon. I would have stayed with Nikon if I were only shooting stills but now I'm just spoiled by Canon's video autofocus lol
Dont switch, Nikons is about 5 years ahead at this point in sensor tech and that isnt going to change anytime soon. If you are already in the Nikon system there is 0 reason to switch to Canon honestly. Atleast, I assume with shoots you mean photography, as the D700 does no video at all so. I'd see if you can spring for the D750. If you are making money it's easy to write it off. Its excellent for both video and photography.
@@BurningBroadcast yeah no video on D700. What's awesome is, even tho it's super old it still does what I need it to do. I never needed more resolution (12mp is plenty). The reason I want to upgrade is exactly what you mentioned - video function.
Yea the D700 (and D3) is a legend. Absolute tank. Beautiful output too. Resolution is over-rated. More pixels also means faster computers, more storage etc.I own a D810 and I can personally attest to that. I mean the output is downright incredible, as is the detail, but it does come at a cost. D750 is great for video and photography. The Z6 is even better, I'd highly recommend that if the majority of your lenses are AF-S or AF-G and not AF-D. Adapter makes those work flawlessly. It is an investment though, Z6 is about 2 grand, D750 about 1 grand used. (www.mpb.com/en-us/used-equipment/used-photo-and-video/used-digital-slr-cameras/used-nikon-digital-slr-cameras/nikon-d750/ ) So big difference there. @@FiveMinuteSneakerTV
I’ve had my 5D3 for 6 years now and it’s a great camera. Anyone thinking of doing professional photography is better of with a 5D3 than a 6D2 for the reasons stated in this video. 6D2 is a great camera but it an amateur camera at its core. Although at this point in time, unless one is really looking for a DSLR, the way to go for canon cameras is the R.
If anyone can help and give an opinion, I'd be grateful. Had a canon 700d and sold to buy a 5d mark iii or 6d mark ii... In this video I got the same idea, so I ask, can you explain to me what is best for use in photography? Thank you and greetings
@@luisalves9241 if the camera is your source of income, than I’d vote for the 5D but if your use is mainly amateur, like family photos and videos than the 6D2 is the better way. The 5D is more robust but it’s not like the 6D isn’t built well, it is. The 6D will be a bit easier to use overall and easier to get better results, it a more modern autofocus system, live view, autofocus for videos.. the 5D3 had pretty good autofocus using the viewfinder but no so much when using the live view. It has dual card slots an that’s the most important feature for professional use. Also, by now, you’d be buying a very used 5D..

well i was use to taking pictures only on my phone i never use the camera before so my uncle gave me his old camera a canon 400d 10.1 megapixel and i was using that and i learn the camera and i took some great shots. but then i realize my pictures wasn't looking sharp like the girl pictures who lived next door to me. i was using the tamron 18-200 lens that came with the camera and i notice in low light situations the camera didn't take a good picture and i had the iso at the max which was 1600. the camera don't record video and i notice all of this by using another camera that excels in everything that's what i meant by that. what i meant to say was i wanted a camera with a better auto focus and better in low light and can record video when i want to do that. a couple of people told me to go full frame and look at the canon 5d mark 3 and the canon 6d mark 2 i just want to choose between the ywo and call it a day lol.

So i guess its 5d mark iii, right? With godox ad 200 should be compatible enough in wireless way. Have you tried 1dx, is it much better than 5d mark iii in terms of af? I have mark iii for years now, 2 cameras and have shot A LOT with it. Aside of truly terrible dynamic range, this camera is superb. I have discovered that a good or better dynamic range is essential and you can’t go around it regardless of the shooting situation. Because of that I wouldn’t recommend mark iii to anyone who is very serious in becoming the pro photog.
yup, lost the photos once. Never again. I am actually looking at this as a second shooter canon camera kit as many wedding photographers seem to only want canon files.

It is worth to wait for 90d for sure??.. Or else can I go for 80d
Jarns Nagendran get a cheap used one now and upgrade later. You’ll be waiting forever
Which is the Best for video and photography
If you're gonna shoot any video, get the 6D mark ii.
Make next video ers r mirroles
Today I took my mirrorles fujifilm to repair and I was checking other cameras for future purchases...
Good comparison, I'm not convinced yet...prices could go a bit lower...
Thanks for this review!
Lifetime Travelmates thank you for watching! Yeah you don’t need an expensive camera to create great content. Which Fuji camera do you use?
@@HyunRalphJeong We use the Fujifilm Xt20 with a 16-55.
But on our videos there is also footage from our phone cameras too...
Thank you very much. I still use my 5D MK3.
Great job on that intro. Did you do the moving lighting effect with your editor or manually?
Bruni Family TV haha thank you. That was me swinging my video light left and right it was quite a scene
Base on yoir review... I think if i ever decide to buy one to vlog.. 6D please.. I want a dual AF and 60fps plus flip up touch screen.. should come in handy plus its slightly smaller
The Hungry Black Panda yeah I love the 6D and I’ve been using it a lot more because of RUclips.
Great vid! I laughed out loud when you compared the shutter sounds :))
hey @Raph i found your channel couple days ago i subscribed at the same time because you remind me my primary teacher the way you're explaining things lol, i want some advise from you i'm self taught a video director i'm about to buy a 5d mark iii for my productions videos and photography (event, wedding...) before i want to work as a freelance so is a good camera for video that 5D mark iii ? i don't have enough cash
I shoot people portraits and sports. Do you think the 6Dmii is a good bet for me?
Well done Hyun, best review I have seen in quite sometime. :)
Loved this video it was very informative. However I have a doubt. I currently have a Canon 750 D. I basically create content around beauty, fashion and lifestyle. I want to upgrade but I’m confused between the Canon 6 mark 2, Canon 5D Mark 4
thx for test! i have canon 800d and 6dm2 - both cameras are perfect at video and photography
Is it still a good camera for making RUclips content? Thanks
For shooting any video, I recommend the 6D mark ii between the two.
Good video and helpful I am currently looking for a camera so good information to know 😊👍🏼
Thank You... Great Content.... I believe i will get the 6D mark ii
Omoroga Tomiwa did you get one? How is your experience with it? I am confused currently between 90 D or 6D mark ii
@@jeetshah2913 6D mark II is an entry level full frame, I got 5D mark III instead... A friend Got the 6D Mark II, Quite Great with the Time Lapse and Flip Screen, But i was not a fan of the AFs clustered in the middle... However its a Great Camera to have if you just moving to FUll Frame
Way I'm thinking Sony over Canon as second body. I can't afford a Canon mk4 and happy with Nikon 800 series. I don't shoot 4k video.
Would you prefer 90d over those for home vlogs ?
I think so. It's much newer and can shoot better video
If you have a chance, can you please make review video for canon mark 1dx??
Kwon's Corner hahaha I always think about selling ALL my other cameras and getting a 1dx 🤣 but I’ll definitely try to get a hold of one

I can make a video or another of my daughter, but it's rare... usage is 99.9% photography. Most people I talk to tell me to go to 6d mark ii for being newer, better processor, etc... but there's one or the other person who tells me... 5d mark iii is better, but when I ask in what ways, i'm just told more professional construction.
@@VicenteSchmitt currently i own 80d. I got it at first cause i love photography but as time goes i am into both photo and video. I have two ef lenses. I just got one used mark 5d mark iii around $700. does 5d mark iii catch up with 80d or not in terms of video? is it worth to get it or not?
@@milangurung4349 it’s a tough call.. 80D gives you 60p and autofocus while the 5D3 has better low light performance and the full frame look. If you are keeping both then use each to their strength :)
I will stick with the 5d mk iii
Trying to figure out which one to buy and this review and comparison really helped!
Great video i have a Question what is different between 5d II & III ?
Thanks, Mk iii has 1 more megapixel, it has dual card slots, better autofocus and better low light performance.
Hyun Ralph Jeong awesome im so lucky to have this , i dont know much on settings i will be more happy if you can make a tutos how to set up each of settings ( Camera and video ) . Thanks again to uploaded this video for ours
@@BlackMusicRecordProd Glad I could help! It will be a while until I can make the video but I will eventually.
Hyun Ralph Jeong oky no problem well i will keep my eyes on it , im moving up to watch the rest of videos your release on your channel
well i was use to taking pictures only on my phone i never use the camera before so my uncle gave me his old camera a canon 400d 10.1 megapixel and i was using that and i learn the camera and i took some great shots. but then i realize my pictures wasn't looking sharp like the girl pictures who lived next door to me. i was using the tamron 18-200 lens that came with the camera and i notice in low light situations the camera didn't take a good picture and i had the iso at the max which was 1600. the camera don't record video and i notice all of this by using another camera that excels in everything that's what i meant by that. what i meant to say was i wanted a camera with a better auto focus and better in low light and can record video when i want to do that. a couple of people told me to go full frame and look at the canon 5d mark 3 and the canon 6d mark 2 i just want to choose between the ywo and call it a day lol.
Great video, clear and concise! Nice one! This has helped me make a decision on which camera to buy! Thank you
Thank you and appreciate the comment! Just curious, which one did you decide to buy?
Hyun Ralph Jeong I’ve decided to buy the 6D Mark 2. I’m upgrading from a 600D
which Canon lens would you recommend as a good overall use lens (24 -105 ish) for the 5D Mk III?
getting 5d for me would just be for faster shutter speed and more focus point.
Hello. Hello. Exactly the video I wanted to watch. Concise.
The rare review that you can watch with pleasure and use for yourself. Thank you, Ralph! Keep up great work. Regards from Saint Petersburg. Now i am thinking of a body for action portraits, i.e. portraits made in scenes like in cinema, within some environment, so i d need good quick af, and no video at all is needed. So i guess its 5d mark iii, right? With godox ad 200 should be compatible enough in wireless way. Have you tried 1dx, is it much better than 5d mark iii in terms of af? I heard its got the same af processor as 5d miii. The weight and its wireless flash work/compatibility kind of make me rethink for 5d mark iii. Kinda wanted to make sure - it took me tgree months and this one video to 99% decide)
Thanks. I guess you covered everything i need to know.
Congratulations on 100k sub
Thank you so much and now I'm use canon 5d mark iii
I am sold on the 6D MarkII...

I just thinking to get mark iii, for video the mark iii can auto focus or not?
@@mudaktif9289 I’ve never shot video with it so I don’t know how focusing works there. But with shooting pictures it was very good I have to say.

Very good comparison. Thanks a lot! 👍🏻
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it.
Great comparison.
Thank you :)
Good information. Good job ! I’m looking to upgrade and will be looking for the 5D iii. As I’m not that interested in video
Thank you! I love the 5Ds and the mark iiis are great cameras. What camera do you use now?
Hyun Ralph Jeong I’ve been using the 0lder 40D. Yep. That’s why I’m upgrading. 🙂. Again. Will be looking for a 5D iii. Regards.
Excellent comparison.
yup, lost the photos once. Never again. I am actually looking at this as a second shooter canon camera kit as many wedding photographers seem to only want canon files.
What?
Canon 6D Mark II is it weather sealed?
Technically yes, but I never fully trust weather sealing. But as long as you don't fully submerge it in water, you'll be okay.
@@HyunRalphJeong Thank you for your reply, one last thing, can i do HSS 1/8000 Sec shot with 6D Mark II?
