Hi there. A bit of a fix to the Con fix list: - Player bodyblocking is removed from the game completely. Not sure about enemy, but I don't think that should be removed. - I don't think it's completely fixed, however if I heard correctly there was a fix for dodges. Now the hame prioritize dodge command over other inputs, so if you spam your normal attacks, but you need to dodge, the game will do the dodge after you finish your current animation, and you can also dodgecancel normal attacks. At least that is how it felt to me. - I think they did something with the stagger. It didn't feel as bad lately than a year ago.

Cacti are technically trees The have a soft plant like outer layer and can bloom with flowers but when they die the green rots away and you see the skeleton which is all wood. They are more than just throny annoyances in the desert. Cacti can even grow fruit ( a prickly Pear it is called) I have eaten said fruit off of cacti, well I actually just poked a hole in it an popped a metal straw in there and sucked out the innards, the skin has little needles all over it that will get stuck in you hence gloves are recommeded when harvesting. It does make a great juice imo add it to water and sugar and you have a prickly pear koolaid kinda thing. Actually quite lovely.

@@ommin9558 I’d say the game is worth the purchase if you like MMOs. I feel like the game is pretty straightforward and somewhat easy to learn. Haven’t done much with crafting yet though but combat is super fun

Thank you for your revisit LazyPeon. This was the first extended game play I've seen that wasn't a meme roll or a dis review. Game looks beautiful and combat looks fun. I especially love the original world/lore of the environment.

Regarding the new expeditions, Barnicle and black power is personally my favorite Most fun mechanical wise and such, it's REALLY unique and fun. while Tempest is the most visually pleasing and "pretty" expedition
Yoo I literally just started to play NW again few days ago, I decided to start from scratch, so far so good reg it's new player experience. There was a very huge step back for this game from its launch, but I'm glad to see that slowly but surely its progressing the right path.
You better off continuing or you'll have to get back to 600GS and then get back all your trophies and stuff and perfect gear and armor dont forget how long that takes and how unreasonable the player prices will be.

Just started playing New World today. I actually like it quite a bit, it’s a nice change in style and format from WoW or GW2 for me and very enjoyable so far 2 hours in
I decided to bite during the 20 dollar sale and I've been playing for 4 days now. Level 30 and so far I really love the community. It's funny, it's edgy, it's helpful. The cities feel alive. The combat is nice. The questing leaves a bit to be desired, like all MMOs really, but it's pretty damn enjoyable. For 20 bucks I say go for it and try to avoid reading all the negativity on reddit and the like. It's pretty good!
I came back too. At first launch, I had made it to level 24. This round I have made it to 60 and still going. Definitely worth trying again. Especially after the upcoming expansion launches. Compared to launch, it's a more forgiving game in the sense that progression keeps your interest. Double XP weekends. etc.
Can you help me answer if endgame gearing was fixed? So back when I quit and 4 months after when i last checked up on the game the entire endgame loop was running the same daily rotation for chests, is this fixed? Somehow Peon did not list this as a con In the list and if its still what they think is "end game" I wont even give it a second thought. And can (larger) group PvP still be boiled down to whatever team has the most great axes?
I just started playing again about a month ago and I'm loving it! I only played 3 hours on launch and didn't like it, but now I've maxed lvl 60 and played 150 hours in a month or just over. It's way better now and that's without this new update that I can't wait for!
What i would like to see: - Mounts. When they are introduced i would honestly like most of the quick travel removed, otherwise mounts will feel negligible. Would be nice to have some sort of depth to this like different mounts having perks or roles depending on what you need them for, not just something to move on. - Guild wars. Absolutely needs a rework, not just visually, gets bland quick. They are incredibly anti climatic for the purpose they serve. Bigger scale, longer wars, more intricacy and objectives. - Owning territory. Currently doesn't serve anything too wow for additional content, would be nice to see some more dynamic effects. - Guild housing. This in its self can provide loads of social content. Guild trophies for defeating bosses that grant perks, maybe pvp trophies, guild banks, guild perks and many more things. - PVP contested zones. For rarity base resources or progression that can only be achieved in these zones or predominantly in these zones for endgame would give nice repeatability and give pvp more of significant presence. - Something that will be way off id imagine but naval content. being able to craft components for ships with your professions. Could even tie into more guild activities. - Factions. They feel like they dont merit to much, not much character or pride to be in one, just a colour. Would be awsome to have more distinctions in the three groups you can join, an example would be faction ranks that reflect your worth from pvp and faction quests, a bit like how you can grind to grandmaster in wow and unlock rewards that fit the faction's theme, gear, cosmetics, mounts, titles.
Sure, there is more content, and nerfed content (you are welcome. It took months of screaming in the forums to get just a 10% nerf on craftings) However, as NW always been, watchout for when you are done with current content. It reaches a point where it gets boring and pointless.

I have always thought this game had a lot of great things going for it, and only really suffered from lack of content. I hope New World succeeds and last for many years, because it is a really well done experience, and nice looking place to hang out and have fun.
As someone who enjoyed in recent times Albion, BDO, Lost Ark and New World. New World is the only one that I have felt like I could play casually, like once a week or 7 days a week and each session feels just as fun efficient. It was sad how many problems it had(bugs/glitches/cheats), lack of content was never really a problem for me so I have just been waiting for it to be good again. I think a couple more updates and I will be back in as my main mmo(the others I mentioned feel too commitment focused)
One thing they could do to make the cities/towns feel more alive is have NPC's walk around. Maybe a bell from a clocktower etc a special time that a market is on like Sundays for a few hours.

People aren't fully away of just how many dupe mules are sitting in wait for the game to make a comeback. I'm still sitting on several exploits that 100% break the game that STILL aren't fixed.
Honestly pretty hyped for this patch, it looks like they have done a really good job on the game here, and improved it a lot, loved the game when it came even though it still needed a lot of work. Definitely coming back for this patch! Love expeditions there.
Is anybody else hyped about the fresh world servers? I seem to be the only one within my friend group but I’m just looking forward to experiencing everything again without ‘half’ of the bullshit we had to endure at launch
People are but I don't think those people are really thinking about the reality of what will happen: - people who have level 60 characters will be in brimstone checking it out and not on fresh start servers, so population won't be as crazy as people think - people who couldn't get to level 60 the first time won't be able to do it this time around (they revamped 1 to 25 experience but 26 to 60 is still the same and so many people quit because they got bored before 30) - people who actually know how to efficiently get to level 60 (because they've done it before) will speed there, but then won't want to re-grind skills and will go back to their main characters on non-fresh start servers - fresh start servers' pop will tank once initial hype dies down and will not rise since people won't be able to transfer to it - fresh start servers' pop will tank further when people start transferring out of them once they realize it won't be going back up - fresh start servers' will be merged by Amazon until there is just a handle one to two fresh start servers, eventually even those will close
The territory wars are what really needed redone as the faction rivalries were what made this game great at launch. I hope they gave that love but I want to get in and give the game a shot again.
Yeah i hope they would add a territory war mode that can be played with randoms.. I don*t know maybe a "All man to the wall" mode that is 50v50 with rnd ppl and starts before the real war und gives like a small buff for the real war so everybody on server can feel they do something to protect there home city or fight for a new one but also keep the normal war as it is to encourage Guilde play.
BIG love to AGS for revamping this amazing MMO that has tons of untold potential when it comes to storytelling, competetive PvP and exciting dungeons. Been playing for a week after returning to the game and it's been a blast with the new company I've joined
Regarding the con list: Players only block eachother if their weapons are out And i believe they have implemented a type of lvl up reward for crafting for every X lvls.
I was hooked on this game at the start. It included the best gaming experience I'd ever had after our faction took a province and the people we beat launched a 3-hour world PVP romp of about 400 total people on both sides. I just couldn't handle the end game grind so I stopped. I may peek in again though as I did love a lot about it.
Open world pvp is kinda dead since mutations came out. Most people dont contest other factions when they run up a territory cause they want the war, and when people do chest runs, they do it unflagged cause pussy. Which was the biggest source of world pvp when I started playing.
@@propersod2390 We did tell the Devs people needed more incentives for pvp. I remember before the 'controversial 30% flagged Luck' PvP died completely on my 400-player-Server. I could literally leave my character afk anywhere and no one would bother kill me for hours haha! Then I did have to pvp over Nodes, which was funny in a different way. Now, pvp decreased again and pve increased. Which seem to have worked. Cuz most people (~90%) are PvErs. PvP is always a minority in mmos.
@@Sinvx people do chest runs unflaged because there's hundreds of people running in a zerg and pvp flag adds collision to your character. Makes it an absolute cunt running around with that zerg.
I remember playing this at launch. It was fun and I loved the crafting mechanics. Hearing the echoes through the woods while your pickaxe hits the iron veins. Sadly for me another guild tried to make me merge my guild into his. Spam inviting some of my members and mass reporting me, getting banned. Sending an email to Amazon did nothing, never got a respond back from them. That killed my hype a little of the game, and after that when I tried to play the towns just didn't even wanted to load in fully, crashing me most of the times out of no where. That was the last time I played the game, I'm glad to see improvements and a lot of fixes of the game. I saw that New World is doing an double xp thing the 5th of october (tomorrow). So I'll be sure to try it out again and jump in New World once again. Thanks for the video, TheLazyPeon! It made me give it another shot :)
New world. Picked it up on a steam sale recently. I love it. I'm level 20. I'm just waiting for the update to come out to keep going. I never played it before so I don't know how bad it was but I think it's pretty fun now. I don't think it's good enough to get a million players like it had at launch or whatever but the way people shit on it is insane.
As a new world player I'm happy to say that it's improved greatly, and that the people working on the game are listening to players complaints about the game and are always working in fixing and improving the game, so Play New world!!!!

The new player experience comming next month is hella great and sets such a great pace for the game. Most of the annoying stuffs are gone, tp's cheap and returns faster. You can run while opening the inv XD. GS raise is at a good pace and basically EVERYTHING in this game rewards you. Really nice. Hopefully they keep up like this and the game is gonna be hella good
I will prob hop back on this game once mounts are added. no matter how many possitive changes there are, i really dont want to run everywhere. Its awesome that the game is making these improvements though
Yea it looks like Highland sword from Chiv 2 when it should be something more close to Claymore in that game...Definetly looks out of place considering it tries to be low fantasy not high fantasy like Final Fantasy XIV or World of Warcraft
@@ValidatedPerson its high fantasy. Look at everything so far. Look at it. Magic? High fantasy. Deadric looking armor? High fantasy. Glowing trees? High fantasy Magical skeletons? High fantasy. Magical volcanoes? Probs high fantasy. Portals to other dimensions?....i could go on and on.
Glad to see a brighter future for the game. I've yet to play it and I don't intend to in the immediate future, but it's always good to have games doing well and improving. Hopefully New World hits the threshold someday that finally gets me to give it a try.
So glad to see this game getting some love again. Been playing for a long time now since release. It's in the best state it's ever been in and it continuing to show signs of growth and improvement. If you haven't come back to the game yet or haven't ever played it, now is a good time to start.
FWIW, I 100% bought this game because of this review. I'm loving it, and cruised through to 60 in a short a mount of time. Keep up the great work with the quality and entertaining content.
The game has improved so much and is definietly much much better than it used to be. Aside from the weapon balancing the game is the best it has ever been and hopefully the expansion does not bring around a new expansion of game breaking bugs. The only thing holding this game back is the Moderation/Support team. It is the most overlooked subject of this game and until that is fixed, the game will b good for the masses but terrible for the hardcore players that know the truth.
Did 1200 hours of this fantastic game from launch. Yes, it had issues, but the environment, and combat alone kept me around. I've not not played for 6-7 months, maybe it is time to return :)
@@Tokena14 Yeah, I loved it despite the issues it had. I could spend hours just exploring and gathering. The world was interesting enough. The story was the most lacking part for me, unfortunate as it's a big draw for me. But had a good time PvP'ing with friends, trying different build-setups and such. Think I'll join a new'ish server and restart from scratch to re-experience the whole thing but now in better shape (hopefully) :)
Played the beta and put in 100 hours the first month it released and haven't touched it since. Downloading it again as we speak so hopefully its improved
The thing that bothered me the most with New World was how spaced out the npc's were that you'd have to talk to when doing quests, I hated having to cross the entire map for one quest then go back to the other side for the next. Glad to see that they fixed it
Can we give some love to the developers? They have poured their heart and soul into this game. The amount of work and commitment as well as being open and transparent and their ability to listen to the community is unlike anything else I have seen from a gaming development team.
Agree, and no subscription! Classic plus isn't coming regardless of whatever survey results are. Blizz will clloct the sub and copy paste every expansion without any new content
I came back to the game about two weeks ago bought it at launch and played for about 2 months and just stopped playing, after seeing this new content dropping in October I am hyped for the future of this game looks like its a good time to come back for sure and I just hit level 60 a few days ago so I am gearing up getting ready .
Maybe MMO developers need to consider a flailing launch as part of its development cycle recognizing that then continuing to work on the game and add to it will build the player base. One of the reasons it’s hard to compete with other, more established MMOs is the content differential. But if a player base thinks the devs will stand behind their game and keep it going, and they deliver, more players will come.

I have a feeling new world is going to reach that vaunted top tier mmo slot eventually - there have been other examples of huge MMOs launching with terrible starts before bouncing back over time. ESO and FF are the biggest examples.
New world is going to have to fix/expand combat and skills if they’re ever going to reach those levels. Theres a big difference between using 6 abilities between 2 weapon and using 15-20 like in FF. Not to mention those franchises also had huge pre-existing fanbases that cared about lore and story.
Im sure someone has said this but im just going to throw it out there. Loadouts have been leaked (not confirmed) to drop with brimstone sands. in reference to 3:57 "No easy way to switch between gear sets when it's a big part of endgame". love the video hope more people get back into new world it is a joy of a grind (i swear I'm not coping)
I can't wait for this new expansion to come out, I also played since launch and stopped playing after about 70 hours of gameplay but seeing this makes me excited again
Been playing since early alpha a few years ago... It has been my personal favorite MMO since it's beginning (and I have been playing MMOs for 20 years) and it is only getting better.
hope many people return to new world, it's great and the community is really nice! i asked someone for help while he was teleporting, he ran back to me which took him almost 6 minutes just to help me
I played maybe 25 hours or so on launch and my personal biggest gripe was that the combat system felt so shallow. Every class only had a few skills and if everyone can easily max out and switch between any class at any time it just seems to lose the class identity/power development aspect in my eyes
As great as it is to see a lot of cons you listed fixed, it still seems some of the big ones that haven't been fixed are for pvp and the trading post. I hope they come out with fixes soon for those things.
I would definitely pick this up again in the future if the new player experience is better. Soloing quest as a healer was rough (maybe I suck lol) also not enough quest. So much grinding to be high enough level to do a quest. Edit: great video. I would definitely give it another shot.
If you are healing with Life staff+Void Gauntlet then it is plenty viable solo, VG has great solo damage even if built for healing. It is good for 1vX pvp as well (a bit worse than life staff/greataxe in group pvp but still great)
Just watching this makes me want to go back. Despite all of its problems, New World was genuinely fun to play until end game. Happy so see all of the improvements.
you should! Just got back myself and only the latest live patch that improved the salvage/expertise and added the BB dungeon has made the game so much better to play. Cant wait for whats to come in the expansion!
I actually found brimstone to be very pretty but also felt very empty At other than a few scorpions here in the air a Earth and a few scattered mobs it just felt like a dead zone There was no real challenge running through there till you got to the dungeon
I just got back to new world today but I feel like this review is maybe a few weeks early. Apparently there's a massive update planned for October. I'd like to see what you think of it at that time.
I paid $40 at the start and can still go in and play whenever I want, even the new DLC. That's how you make sure your players will come back when things improved!
Looking back now, the only reason why I quit this game wasn't because of any issues i had with the game, but because most of my company left due to the pandemic slowly stopping and them having to go back to work. I have always loved the game (even with it's many bugs and issues) but loosing that comradery i had with my company kinda made me loose motivation to keep playing. I will however come back again for the fresh start servers for my own sake this time.
I, like you played at launch for a few weeks and hard ditched the game. I heard about the expansion and decided to log in and look around a bit and decided I would give it another shot come fresh start. Looking forward to it.
What i hate in NW on release is that they aint got no NPC to sell your trash , you farm for hours and gain few gold cause the materials you farm plumets in price
that quest with the first dungeon is actually what made me not play the game further because i couldnt find any groups, so its nice to see that they have added a solo option
Dude, I saw you on AFK Arena months back in Legend Challenger's Tournament and I was like, "No way this is the real peon..." and assumed it was a troll. Awesome that it was really you! Also, nice aSolise, she's a banger. I'm so glad they finally did a sponsorship with you, this will undoubtedly bring in a bunch of new players (which AFK needs after the mass exodus from engraving). Anyone who enjoys hero collectors/rpg's such as Pokemon, Fire Emblem, WoW, LoL will love the game, as long as they can get over all the pop ups/in-game purchases (which can be annoying). One of the things I wish Amazon would focus on is the resource gathering loop. There's too many people and not enough nodes, and the problem only gets worse as the node tier goes up. Claiming that PVP counters it or be somehow damaged if it was revamped is a red-herring, implying that large numbers of people aren't already running around without being flagged.
I recently got the game and play solely on my steam Deck. It took a bit of setup but it runs perf2 well and after years I've finally got that mmo buzz back!
I’ve played since launch and got to GS 625 and got bored. I left for about 2-3 months and came back and saw anew game. No orbs for dungeons, and actual group finder, more way for ppl to get gypsum, new dungeons and more. The PTR I leveled so far to 40 and haven’t tried brimstone yet but everything just feels better.
I just came back today with a new character and the weapons weren't laying on the ground. I got a great sword and blunderbuss from quests early on. While I like the blunderbuss I notice the quests are the same (with a bit of change to them) and that most of the level 60's running around are part of a clone army of using the same gear. No blunderbuss. I didn't realize there are new lands and I'm mostly bored so far. What gets me is how simple the skill trees still are. I'll keep tinkering around but it's just something to do waiting on other games.
Love your videos, man! Judging by these improvements and how many people have already seen & reacted to the video, I'm hoping many will try NW again and bring the numbers up.
Regarding the cons: there is diminishing returns on mob stagger. You get a free roll out after being staggered a certain number of times. Also works in pvp. Automated bans are STILL a thing and people are constantly getting screwed by it. Expect it to be an issue when brimstone comes out. Same for absolutely non-existent customer service.
The best thing about new world was building a community on your server. I know that servers were slowly dying but everyone knew each other, there was politics, and a lot of fun moments. I lost interest when we merged into a new server. I felt lost but maybe ill grab a few friends and try out the new stuff. Probably won't dive into the politics anymore though.

While this is true, I think the boss fights in Tempest are much more fun and rewarding.
BB has my favorite boss. The one where you use the cannon is just so fun to me lol
BNB is soooo much fun. Really like that one. I havnt done the ennead yet but if it’s as good as BNB I’ll be stoked

Yoo I literally just started to play NW again few days ago, I decided to start from scratch, so far so good reg it's new player experience. There was a very huge step back for this game from its launch, but I'm glad to see that slowly but surely its progressing the right path.
You better off continuing or you'll have to get back to 600GS and then get back all your trophies and stuff and perfect gear and armor dont forget how long that takes and how unreasonable the player prices will be.

Just started playing New World today. I actually like it quite a bit, it’s a nice change in style and format from WoW or GW2 for me and very enjoyable so far 2 hours in

I decided to bite during the 20 dollar sale and I've been playing for 4 days now. Level 30 and so far I really love the community. It's funny, it's edgy, it's helpful. The cities feel alive. The combat is nice. The questing leaves a bit to be desired, like all MMOs really, but it's pretty damn enjoyable. For 20 bucks I say go for it and try to avoid reading all the negativity on reddit and the like. It's pretty good!

I came back too. At first launch, I had made it to level 24. This round I have made it to 60 and still going. Definitely worth trying again. Especially after the upcoming expansion launches. Compared to launch, it's a more forgiving game in the sense that progression keeps your interest. Double XP weekends. etc.
Is there still heavy focus on PvP or do we have some proper PvE elements now as well, interesting dungeons/raids etc?

So back when I quit and 4 months after when i last checked up on the game the entire endgame loop was running the same daily rotation for chests, is this fixed? Somehow Peon did not list this as a con In the list and if its still what they think is "end game" I wont even give it a second thought.
And can (larger) group PvP still be boiled down to whatever team has the most great axes?

@@Inttallity Chests are optional now. Expeditions are the way to go now for gear progression and they no longer require dungeon keys for it
I just started playing again about a month ago and I'm loving it! I only played 3 hours on launch and didn't like it, but now I've maxed lvl 60 and played 150 hours in a month or just over. It's way better now and that's without this new update that I can't wait for!
What i would like to see:
- Mounts. When they are introduced i would honestly like most of the quick travel removed, otherwise mounts will feel negligible. Would be nice to have some sort of depth to this like different mounts having perks or roles depending on what you need them for, not just something to move on.
- Guild wars. Absolutely needs a rework, not just visually, gets bland quick. They are incredibly anti climatic for the purpose they serve. Bigger scale, longer wars, more intricacy and objectives.
- Owning territory. Currently doesn't serve anything too wow for additional content, would be nice to see some more dynamic effects.
- Guild housing. This in its self can provide loads of social content. Guild trophies for defeating bosses that grant perks, maybe pvp trophies, guild banks, guild perks and many more things.
- PVP contested zones. For rarity base resources or progression that can only be achieved in these zones or predominantly in these zones for endgame would give nice repeatability and give pvp more of significant presence.
- Something that will be way off id imagine but naval content. being able to craft components for ships with your professions. Could even tie into more guild activities.
- Factions. They feel like they dont merit to much, not much character or pride to be in one, just a colour. Would be awsome to have more distinctions in the three groups you can join, an example would be faction ranks that reflect your worth from pvp and faction quests, a bit like how you can grind to grandmaster in wow and unlock rewards that fit the faction's theme, gear, cosmetics, mounts, titles.
In the PTR each faction has its own base now and a bit deeper lore so they are improving that aspect.
The different starting towns are based on different time periods too. Monarch Bluffs is Medieval & Everfall is American Colonial

Sure, there is more content, and nerfed content (you are welcome. It took months of screaming in the forums to get just a 10% nerf on craftings) However, as NW always been, watchout for when you are done with current content. It reaches a point where it gets boring and pointless.

I have always thought this game had a lot of great things going for it, and only really suffered from lack of content. I hope New World succeeds and last for many years, because it is a really well done experience, and nice looking place to hang out and have fun.
As someone who enjoyed in recent times Albion, BDO, Lost Ark and New World.
New World is the only one that I have felt like I could play casually, like once a week or 7 days a week and each session feels just as fun efficient.
It was sad how many problems it had(bugs/glitches/cheats), lack of content was never really a problem for me so I have just been waiting for it to be good again. I think a couple more updates and I will be back in as my main mmo(the others I mentioned feel too commitment focused)
One thing they could do to make the cities/towns feel more alive is have NPC's walk around. Maybe a bell from a clocktower etc a special time that a market is on like Sundays for a few hours.

People aren't fully away of just how many dupe mules are sitting in wait for the game to make a comeback. I'm still sitting on several exploits that 100% break the game that STILL aren't fixed.
Honestly pretty hyped for this patch, it looks like they have done a really good job on the game here, and improved it a lot, loved the game when it came even though it still needed a lot of work. Definitely coming back for this patch! Love expeditions there.

People are but I don't think those people are really thinking about the reality of what will happen:
- people who have level 60 characters will be in brimstone checking it out and not on fresh start servers, so population won't be as crazy as people think
- people who couldn't get to level 60 the first time won't be able to do it this time around (they revamped 1 to 25 experience but 26 to 60 is still the same and so many people quit because they got bored before 30)
- people who actually know how to efficiently get to level 60 (because they've done it before) will speed there, but then won't want to re-grind skills and will go back to their main characters on non-fresh start servers
- fresh start servers' pop will tank once initial hype dies down and will not rise since people won't be able to transfer to it
- fresh start servers' pop will tank further when people start transferring out of them once they realize it won't be going back up
- fresh start servers' will be merged by Amazon until there is just a handle one to two fresh start servers, eventually even those will close

The territory wars are what really needed redone as the faction rivalries were what made this game great at launch. I hope they gave that love but I want to get in and give the game a shot again.
Yeah i hope they would add a territory war mode that can be played with randoms.. I don*t know maybe a "All man to the wall" mode that is 50v50 with rnd ppl and starts before the real war und gives like a small buff for the real war so everybody on server can feel they do something to protect there home city or fight for a new one but also keep the normal war as it is to encourage Guilde play.

Regarding the con list:
Players only block eachother if their weapons are out
And i believe they have implemented a type of lvl up reward for crafting for every X lvls.
I was hooked on this game at the start. It included the best gaming experience I'd ever had after our faction took a province and the people we beat launched a 3-hour world PVP romp of about 400 total people on both sides. I just couldn't handle the end game grind so I stopped. I may peek in again though as I did love a lot about it.
Open world pvp is kinda dead since mutations came out. Most people dont contest other factions when they run up a territory cause they want the war, and when people do chest runs, they do it unflagged cause pussy. Which was the biggest source of world pvp when I started playing.
@@Sinvx there's open world pvp all the time at forts. Especially first light fort as it gives 10% extra refining yield
@@propersod2390 We did tell the Devs people needed more incentives for pvp. I remember before the 'controversial 30% flagged Luck' PvP died completely on my 400-player-Server. I could literally leave my character afk anywhere and no one would bother kill me for hours haha! Then I did have to pvp over Nodes, which was funny in a different way.
Now, pvp decreased again and pve increased. Which seem to have worked. Cuz most people (~90%) are PvErs. PvP is always a minority in mmos.

@@Sinvx people do chest runs unflaged because there's hundreds of people running in a zerg and pvp flag adds collision to your character. Makes it an absolute cunt running around with that zerg.

I remember playing this at launch. It was fun and I loved the crafting mechanics. Hearing the echoes through the woods while your pickaxe hits the iron veins. Sadly for me another guild tried to make me merge my guild into his. Spam inviting some of my members and mass reporting me, getting banned. Sending an email to Amazon did nothing, never got a respond back from them. That killed my hype a little of the game, and after that when I tried to play the towns just didn't even wanted to load in fully, crashing me most of the times out of no where. That was the last time I played the game, I'm glad to see improvements and a lot of fixes of the game. I saw that New World is doing an double xp thing the 5th of october (tomorrow). So I'll be sure to try it out again and jump in New World once again. Thanks for the video, TheLazyPeon! It made me give it another shot :)

New world. Picked it up on a steam sale recently. I love it. I'm level 20. I'm just waiting for the update to come out to keep going. I never played it before so I don't know how bad it was but I think it's pretty fun now. I don't think it's good enough to get a million players like it had at launch or whatever but the way people shit on it is insane.

Fair review! New World has certainly evolved since launch and I think the devs deserve some respect for not just moving on to the project. Great video, and welcome back to NW.
The new player experience comming next month is hella great and sets such a great pace for the game. Most of the annoying stuffs are gone, tp's cheap and returns faster. You can run while opening the inv XD. GS raise is at a good pace and basically EVERYTHING in this game rewards you. Really nice. Hopefully they keep up like this and the game is gonna be hella good

Yea it looks like Highland sword from Chiv 2 when it should be something more close to Claymore in that game...Definetly looks out of place considering it tries to be low fantasy not high fantasy like Final Fantasy XIV or World of Warcraft

Glad to see a brighter future for the game. I've yet to play it and I don't intend to in the immediate future, but it's always good to have games doing well and improving. Hopefully New World hits the threshold someday that finally gets me to give it a try.
So glad to see this game getting some love again. Been playing for a long time now since release. It's in the best state it's ever been in and it continuing to show signs of growth and improvement. If you haven't come back to the game yet or haven't ever played it, now is a good time to start.

The game has improved so much and is definietly much much better than it used to be. Aside from the weapon balancing the game is the best it has ever been and hopefully the expansion does not bring around a new expansion of game breaking bugs. The only thing holding this game back is the Moderation/Support team. It is the most overlooked subject of this game and until that is fixed, the game will b good for the masses but terrible for the hardcore players that know the truth.
Did 1200 hours of this fantastic game from launch. Yes, it had issues, but the environment, and combat alone kept me around. I've not not played for 6-7 months, maybe it is time to return :)

@@Tokena14 Yeah, I loved it despite the issues it had. I could spend hours just exploring and gathering. The world was interesting enough. The story was the most lacking part for me, unfortunate as it's a big draw for me. But had a good time PvP'ing with friends, trying different build-setups and such. Think I'll join a new'ish server and restart from scratch to re-experience the whole thing but now in better shape (hopefully) :)

The thing that bothered me the most with New World was how spaced out the npc's were that you'd have to talk to when doing quests, I hated having to cross the entire map for one quest then go back to the other side for the next. Glad to see that they fixed it
really made their decision not to add mounts more irritating when quest design was a walking sim
Can we give some love to the developers? They have poured their heart and soul into this game. The amount of work and commitment as well as being open and transparent and their ability to listen to the community is unlike anything else I have seen from a gaming development team.

The fresh start server really bring this game back to life, It's been a while I saw the starting zone - mid level zone packed with people
I came back to the game about two weeks ago bought it at launch and played for about 2 months and just stopped playing, after seeing this new content dropping in October I am hyped for the future of this game looks like its a good time to come back for sure and I just hit level 60 a few days ago so I am gearing up getting ready .
Maybe MMO developers need to consider a flailing launch as part of its development cycle recognizing that then continuing to work on the game and add to it will build the player base. One of the reasons it’s hard to compete with other, more established MMOs is the content differential. But if a player base thinks the devs will stand behind their game and keep it going, and they deliver, more players will come.

I have a feeling new world is going to reach that vaunted top tier mmo slot eventually - there have been other examples of huge MMOs launching with terrible starts before bouncing back over time. ESO and FF are the biggest examples.
Even GW2 had fallen off and got a huge bounce back. This is the normal life cycle for a good MMO. I'm sure the same thing will happen with AoC.
New world is going to have to fix/expand combat and skills if they’re ever going to reach those levels. Theres a big difference between using 6 abilities between 2 weapon and using 15-20 like in FF. Not to mention those franchises also had huge pre-existing fanbases that cared about lore and story.
That arm clipping run animation to the sword is driving me crazy.
Im sure someone has said this but im just going to throw it out there. Loadouts have been leaked (not confirmed) to drop with brimstone sands. in reference to 3:57 "No easy way to switch between gear sets when it's a big part of endgame".

Been playing since early alpha a few years ago... It has been my personal favorite MMO since it's beginning (and I have been playing MMOs for 20 years) and it is only getting better.
hope many people return to new world, it's great and the community is really nice! i asked someone for help while he was teleporting, he ran back to me which took him almost 6 minutes just to help me
I played maybe 25 hours or so on launch and my personal biggest gripe was that the combat system felt so shallow. Every class only had a few skills and if everyone can easily max out and switch between any class at any time it just seems to lose the class identity/power development aspect in my eyes
that's the point of it to be fair, it's not supposed to be a game with lengthy power creep.
As great as it is to see a lot of cons you listed fixed, it still seems some of the big ones that haven't been fixed are for pvp and the trading post. I hope they come out with fixes soon for those things.
I would definitely pick this up again in the future if the new player experience is better. Soloing quest as a healer was rough (maybe I suck lol) also not enough quest. So much grinding to be high enough level to do a quest.
Edit: great video. I would definitely give it another shot.
If you are healing with Life staff+Void Gauntlet then it is plenty viable solo, VG has great solo damage even if built for healing. It is good for 1vX pvp as well (a bit worse than life staff/greataxe in group pvp but still great)

I actually found brimstone to be very pretty but also felt very empty At other than a few scorpions here in the air a Earth and a few scattered mobs it just felt like a dead zone There was no real challenge running through there till you got to the dungeon

I just got back to new world today but I feel like this review is maybe a few weeks early. Apparently there's a massive update planned for October. I'd like to see what you think of it at that time.
I paid $40 at the start and can still go in and play whenever I want, even the new DLC.
That's how you make sure your players will come back when things improved!

This game literally came out last year but the nostalgia I feel when I hear the music is like I've played this game for 10 years for some reason.
What killed it for me was the rampant exploits some of which were fixed in one weekly patch and the following week it would come back.
Looking back now, the only reason why I quit this game wasn't because of any issues i had with the game, but because most of my company left due to the pandemic slowly stopping and them having to go back to work. I have always loved the game (even with it's many bugs and issues) but loosing that comradery i had with my company kinda made me loose motivation to keep playing. I will however come back again for the fresh start servers for my own sake this time.
I, like you played at launch for a few weeks and hard ditched the game. I heard about the expansion and decided to log in and look around a bit and decided I would give it another shot come fresh start. Looking forward to it.
What i hate in NW on release is that they aint got no NPC to sell your trash , you farm for hours and gain few gold cause the materials you farm plumets in price

One of the things I wish Amazon would focus on is the resource gathering loop. There's too many people and not enough nodes, and the problem only gets worse as the node tier goes up. Claiming that PVP counters it or be somehow damaged if it was revamped is a red-herring, implying that large numbers of people aren't already running around without being flagged.
I recently got the game and play solely on my steam Deck. It took a bit of setup but it runs perf2 well and after years I've finally got that mmo buzz back!

I’ve played since launch and got to GS 625 and got bored. I left for about 2-3 months and came back and saw anew game. No orbs for dungeons, and actual group finder, more way for ppl to get gypsum, new dungeons and more. The PTR I leveled so far to 40 and haven’t tried brimstone yet but everything just feels better.
The quests you needed to travel so far for is what exhausted the fun out of it quickly for me.

I just came back today with a new character and the weapons weren't laying on the ground. I got a great sword and blunderbuss from quests early on. While I like the blunderbuss I notice the quests are the same (with a bit of change to them) and that most of the level 60's running around are part of a clone army of using the same gear. No blunderbuss. I didn't realize there are new lands and I'm mostly bored so far. What gets me is how simple the skill trees still are. I'll keep tinkering around but it's just something to do waiting on other games.

Regarding the cons: there is diminishing returns on mob stagger. You get a free roll out after being staggered a certain number of times. Also works in pvp.
Automated bans are STILL a thing and people are constantly getting screwed by it. Expect it to be an issue when brimstone comes out. Same for absolutely non-existent customer service.

The best thing about new world was building a community on your server. I know that servers were slowly dying but everyone knew each other, there was politics, and a lot of fun moments. I lost interest when we merged into a new server. I felt lost but maybe ill grab a few friends and try out the new stuff. Probably won't dive into the politics anymore though.
