For those who don't know, the VA for Lando (the furry we see at 3:55) was recently diagnosed with Stage 4 Colon Cancer, let us all pray for his recovery and his well being 🙏
This is a horrible review of the game. You should give the game a try and go into the seasonal character. Peon is butthurt because he used to spend thousands on the game and ended up just not being skilled enough to play at a high level.
@@simonsays9545 Understandable, but it might be a bad game to you but for most it's not. As mentioned, LazyPeons review is highly bias and both him and his editor are salty about the game because they get dumpstered even when they play 18hrs a day.. Peon doesn't invest as much time anymore but his editor does.
My favorite part of the “new” MSQ is that they advertised it as a story players won’t feel the need to spam R through. But they didn’t bother to make it engaging gameplay wise so most of the player base just spammed R anyway
Only reason I play sometimes is lifeskills Only reason I kill mobs is money. Money for hobbies. I play on mena server (turko-arabic) server, people are real jerks when times come to pvp. Only reason people do pvp is to insult other person's family members.
@@votum6595 I never said i didn't like violence. As for my name, not even closely related to furry shit. My name is based off a D&D dwarf sorcerer called Steve Thunderballs I made years ago when I first started playing D&D.
Yeah BDO without gear upgrading and other bullshit and with fun PvE content like Dungeons, Raids, Treasure Hunting, Trials, pretty much anything that is not mindless grind. Also the combat could be easily improved by just letting you add every skill to hotbar rather than having to press multiple buttons to execute one skill. It doesn't make the combat feel better if I need to press shift+Q instead of just Q or any other button I would map the skill to.
@@Jacob_YG yea im actually surprised that Heedun is the editor lol, use to watch his sorc guides and commentary quite a bit before stepping away from bdo.
Yeah except the video is Lazy Peon probably being mad he failed pen zarka again and made this video lmao. don't get me wrong, BDO has it's problems, but the dude criticizes the story but didn't actually put effort into the new story quest. The general consensus is that it's good... lmao
The revised questline is significantly better than any prior iteration -- for story. Unfortunately, if story is not your bag... the main questline is better to introduce players to zones for leveling through grinding. Bdo has been trying to implement alternatives to leveling beyond grinding. It is now easier to quest to 60/61 then grind for it. BDO is the game i play when I have the vertical progression itch. Gw2 is a better game overall just wish it had BDO graphics.
Funny enough my reason for quitting Gw2 was the fps problems in WVW and in BDO iIusually get way better fps even in castle siege and at my lowest graphics it still looks better than any other mmorpg. I do think GW2 is a superior game overall though. BDO is a master in certain elements but really lacks in other departments
@@warframeees8013 The thing with the upgrade system is its double edged sword. I would not have my gear if it wasn't for rng because I don't invest enough time to buy all my upgrades so I really got luckily with some rng. I do feel they are changing some mechanics to give more guaranteed upgrades instead of rng. So its worth while to see what changes they bring. I'm sure they will give us all easily end game accessible gear eventually because they are already doing it for some pieces.
I agree with most of your points in this video but if you pick the lore based questing zone rather than the new player questing zone then don’t be surprised when it’s mostly lore and dialogue
I think you missed the part we're it says the new starter zone/quest path is for experienced players (creating alts) and new players are recommended to play the old route.
BDO could be the best MMO out there. Stunning graphics, awesome sailing, housing, worker system, horse breeding, best combat out there… and they throw ALL of that away with the gearing system. It is so damn disheartening grinding for a week, to attempt to get one level out of a chest piece for it only to downgrade a level and lose durability. WHO THOUGHT THIS WAS A GOOD IDEA? Lol
The gear leveling is literally the only thing that keeps me from coming back. I wish failing an upgrade would just fail instead of slapping you in the face with a downgrade, it just feels like it's punishing you for playing their game
I've said this before, and my opinion hasnt changed. BDO is an mmo with a fantastic foundation that fails to properly put all of it to use. It has a lot of stuff that I really love, and a lot of annoying drawbacks. Like I admittedly do with a lot of games, its one of those games I like to get come back to every so often, play for a couple of weeks to months, and then drop it again.
Black Desert does justice to lightning attacks, unlike most other mmos. I spent hours murdering random animals in the woods with my wizard, for no other reason than seeing lightning attacks.
I just got back into BDO too. Forgot how much fun I had figuring out logistics of managing a node empire haha. you can get it set up on autopilot and make a decent passive income while grinding. No other game has given me the satisfaction of pulling off the perfect combo like BDO has. Stringing together each skill is like an art form, or a dance. I keep mixing up the skill combos until I find a nice flow that's super satisfying. Life skills are super chill when you want a break from practicing combos. I usually listen to a podcast or something when doing that. I stay away from enhancing, less stress and my node empire let's me buy anything I need from the market. BDO has the best combat of any MMO. I just wish they had better co-op/questing. Hoping that's what Crimson Desert will be.
Dunno about other classes, but once I figured out the best skill rotations for my Ninja, pve combat instantly became boring. Its not the hours of grinding in one zone that bothered me, and I loved Ninja's moveset and flashiness, but I just felt like I couldn't break away from the optimal rotation and so every NPC encounter just felt tedious.
I come back to bdo for like 2 months a year, I grind, I life skill, I get bored as fuck and move on. I don't hate the game, but there's not a ton to like either. It's simply, alright.
This is how I feel too. The game world seems like it has so much potential. It’s huge, beautiful, has cool systems like sailing and the worker/node system. The combat is fun and impactful as well. But…the more you play, the more you realize that all there is to do is just grind the same boring content over and over again. It’s so disappointing. BDO has a massive world, but basically forces you to grind in a tiny little box. BDO has great combat, but it completely flubs the potential the combat has by just forcing you to grind boring repetitive mobs over and over again. Other MMO’s with far worse combat actually have challenging content with mechanics that makes the subpar combat pretty fun. I don’t get why BDO can’t just add some challenging PVE content to actually utilize the combat that’s accessible to everyone.
@@laurentpecriaux1345 Me saying BDO was pretty average and I eventually get bored ( it has a declining player base and has for a while, i'm not alone) isn't a personal attack against you for liking it bro. I eventually get bored of every game and play other games for a while. Most people do. Im sorry you took it personally, lol.
To be fair, the same game keeping you for two whole months every year is pretty insane. That game is accounting for over 15% of your total game time a year. I can't last in most games that long.
@@Creslin321 The world has no potential dude, all it is is one big map for you to grind a mob on. Thats literally all the world is designed for and im not sure how you see potential in that?
BDO is like a Michael Bey movie. There are lost of explosions and fast paced action. But that's all there to distract you from the point that there really isn't anything else worthwhile to pay attention to.
are you implying explosions and fast paced action aren't worth paying attention to? Those two things are how the matrix made most of it's money since 90% of the audience didn't understand the plot anyway (proving that 90% of people are morons)
Theres a lot worth paying attention to, bdo is a standing testament that you can have interesting lore, character development and aliens but ppl dont care if the game isnt sucking you off every 5 seconds.
As I don't see anyone pointing it out... This questline is story driven... it isn't supposed to be played for the first time (In the selection of what questline you want to play , you have the main questline with "Recommended for beginners" and Everfrost (the new area/questline) with "Not recommended for beginners"... So it's more about the story... if you want to tell from a perspective of a first time player... you should have picked the other questline ..
THEY SAY WHEN YOU ARE GOING TO START IN THAT ZONE THAT THIS ISNT FOR NEW PLAYERS AND STILL YOUR ONLY ARGUMENT IN THE WHOLE VIDEO IS "I DONT THINK THIS WOULD BE APPEALING TO NEW PLAYERS" WTF?
I have such a love/hate relationship with BDO. I love the classes, animations, action-style combat, waifus, life skilling and sailing. I hate the high level gear (especially the enhancement system) and XP grind. It's a damn shame that the latter is such a huge bottleneck to enjoying the former. I still go back every now then, fall in love with it while reconnecting with how to play my characters, then quit, dejected, when I get to remembering how awful the progression is at high level.
I think it's a shame because this is the only time I don't spam the r key in a BDO game. Yes they focus more on the story and with the voice acting it actually makes me appreciate the world a lot more. Sometimes it's nice to just immerse into the character and story rather than hacking and slashing for a change.
Whilst I agree with pretty much everything you said in the video, I still feel that this video came across with negative bias. It would've been nice to mention the massive improvement to the new player experience. The rework of valencia grindspots to be really good for new players, the upcoming 1hr private grind as well as a pity systems added for a pen accessory, armor/weps and the infinite potion. Though I definitely agree, the endgame experience isn't good and has been neglected for far too long.
@@zarryc1687 Yes, 1hr a day, you use it at the spot and it automatically puts you on the best rotation for that spot and instances it. Should be with NA/EU in a couple of weeks.
Fundementally I guess I just feel apathetic towards the game due to the end game being dead, it feels to be like BDO needs a complete reset, some calatyst to bring everyone back, but even if they did that the their business model is to release new classes so frequently that it'll never be remotely balanced, I think we need BDO 2 to be honest, and I think the reason we haven't had any news on Crimson Desert is that PA knows this and is reworking CD into BDO 2, doesn't matter what positive changes they make to the game if you're grinding for nothing at the end of it imo
@@TheLazyPeon what do you consider "end game" tho? The highest gs grind spots like Oluns, Ash, Crypt and Gyfin are far from being dead, and Calpheon Elvia for 300+AP is gonna drop soon. PvP certainly isnt dead either. Life Skills got big boosts (Hunting, Trading, Alchemy). Some say fashion is the endgame and that one isnt dead either for sure. In my opinion BDO is one of those games where you have to set your own goals, your own "endgame" and use whatever time or pace youre willing to spend to get there.
for me BDO was fun as long as it lastest but the lack off content specificly coop content made it die for me! Exploring and playing all the classes was the fun i had two classes i enjoyed the most but overall i had every character played to lvl 58-62 (last one was guardia) but keep getting killed at the grind spot from other players with 100-200 different gearscore class bcs they had no good spots to go to was obnoxious
BDO could really do with some more variety in its content or some actual dungeons, it has a lot of stuff going for it but doesnt rly stick the landing imo.
Agree 100% got to 60 which was fun ngl upgrading my gear and seeing myself get stronger with new abilities, but theres nothing to show for it! I wish the game had raids to conquer or something
i remember this game, it was actually pretty fun for a few months after it came out but i stop playing after 2 months from release and came back on like last year only to get like 60 trillion silver and i instantly got off XD
The stealth quest on launch day was.. interesting to say the least haha I notice everyone who dislikes Drakania NEVER uses her ability to fly or half of her kit but calls her boring and slow.
what the game need is some kinda co op experience that is actually fun and easy for new players to get into.... should be obvious, group fun pve that's somewhat challenging and in some even halfway decent designed area's (Or in pre existing places just used for this purpose!!!)
At the End of the Progression Pass you dont get a free Pen. There is a Jetina Quest line wehre you get full Pen Boss Gear but each peace cost around 8-12b and Valencia is not dead anymore many people go sulfur and some even fogans for money it is only more of a beginner area now!
So better save the money and get better accessorys ? because someone said you can get free pen this time because of some event but when I checked the price for that old moond shard 50 mil each where I need 110 , 30 weapon 80 armor it is not worth for me I stay with tet for now
@@aivarassimonis depends on your Gear ^^ i dont know what you have. But If you have full tet yellow accessorys the best thing you can do is getting Pen Boss. With Full Pen Tuvala i would get the PEN Capotia Neck from Season graduation and then get a Tet Basi Belt and then 2 Tet cresents and then 2 Tet tung earing or a disto and a narc earring
@@aivarassimonis yeah Pila ku and Sulfur are great spots for your Gear ^^ But only if you have agris or a lot of loot scrolls. Both spots only drop one 1 Trash so you need at least 100% more drop amount you can get this in 2 ways the first is agris and level 1 loot scroll (200% more so 3 trash per kill) or level 2 loot scroll (100% so 2 Trash) with only the level 1 loot scroll you would just get 1 Trash because it gives only 50%. If you dont have agris i would go Aakman or Hystria. Its easy to get there just look up 100% Aakman/Hystria teleport. You can also try Bandits and Altar Imps but they are not as good as Sulfur and you need there agris or loot scroll level 2 to get good results.
I feel like they tried to focus a little more on the story of the new region, thus a bit limiting the early combat experience. On the other hand I know you like to gloss over the story and dialogue in most mmo-s but I think this time the story was actually quite interesting. To be honest I think the actual main story was getting better as time went on, the Kamasylvia msq was also much better compared to what was before. I know that almost nobody plays BDO for the story but I think it's getting more and more interesting.
Lol I remember when I tried to get into BDO I was curious about the story so I tried looking for a wiki or something with lore but I found nothing. Players should really try to write down the lore.
@@meraketh that was my point. Throughout the video, he kept saying new player experience, but it was never meant for new players, lmao. This video seemed very biased, imo
I remember when Snowballs were first released into WoW for the first time. They knocked any player back and stunned them for a short amount of time. Raids and BG’s were ruined, but it was a fun week.
I have started BDO 3 times now making it only a few hrs in each attempt. I'm on attempt 4 and all I can say is BDO is such an anomaly to me, looks and feels fkn amazing but GD no MMO has ever had me completely lost like BDO.
When you don't play it for the meta, it's one of the most fun and immersive RPG/life sims out there. If not for the creepy monetisation, it would have been huge over here in the West.
Next up in BDO: Class that grabs you from Valencia to kamasylvia and then throws an ICBM. The whole combo of course can be done from the other side of the planet while being protected.
@@bloodwolf9428 This. And also more recently Lost Ark. Punika is literally just running from an npc to npc and spamming G. The combat is almost non existant. Just 2 short dungeons and couple of "kill 10 mobs". I can see why that game has power passes and even a way to skip storylines in the stronghold.
The quest is specificaly not for new players but for those who already played trhough the story and want to be at higher lvl faster and continue the story that they already played with other characters. So i dont know why he always refers to it as new player experience
The "Remastered" option, dumb's the graphics down to gain performance. (there's also looots of pop in with that option) If you want the best visuals, use the "Ultra" option with the "low gpu power" option unchecked. (and turn on the A.C. in your room. The GPU will be extra hot!)
I’ve always hopped back into BDO, leveled up a character to 55 and then felt super lost and bored, if I even made it that far, with massive menus with tons of words, super over whelming and past leveling I just didn’t have the motivation to do anymore, I always wanted to get super into it but just could never quite get myself all the way there
I've never played BDO officially nor purchased it, but I have tried a private server for BDO and the time I tried it I found myself overwhelmed by how many menus and buttons there were, the graphics are beautiful and amazing but all the convoluted confusing nonsense I am looking at to see that kinda ruin the experience and it is intimidating. I find myself not ever being able to get into it despite the combat seeming really fun and impactful.
Are you sure you didn't just click-spam through the story? Cause as a new player, being 40 lvls in, in both story "starting" areas, I like the experience in the snowy lands better.
While I feel that some things you've said in this video are true, it appears to be made with negative bias. To name a few things that I think are reviewed poorly: the new "starting" zone, for once. When you create a new character, it literally asks you in which zone do you want to start, one literally being for new players, and the new snow region being for veteran players, again, this is written in big parenthesis in the zone selection screen. Of course it doesn't make sense to start in the new zone for the story's sake since it spoils the rest, but absolutely new players are not meant to start in it. That's why I think that you complaining about the "new player experience" isn't really justified. In regards with the new zone's looks, that is entirely subjective and I won't touch on it. 2nd thing I think is reviewed poorly: "boring mindless quests". I can understand saying that if at least you tried to give the story a chance, but from what I've seen, the R button has been your greatest friend for this video. I don't think one should be complaining about something that hasn't been tried yet. I can't complain about pineapple on pizza if I haven't tried it, can I? Just defeats the whole purpose. To a certain extent, a game will be about as fun as you're willing to give it a chance. Same principle applies for the aforementioned quests. If you want to get through the dialogue and story, the worst that will happen is you having to sit through a few hours of mediocre writing, but if you choose to instantly skip any dialogue on sight, the appearance of new dialogue will quickly become frustrating and you'll start to hate doing the same thing over and over again. The new snow region is designed to be more narrative heavy, if you wanted combat, you have the whole massive world at your disposal. 3rd thing I think is reviewed poorly: "dead content" section. I think some of those are entirely dependent on the region you are playing on. For example: Guild Bosses, Node Wars, GvGs might be dead on your region since it looks like a smaller one, but they are definitely not dead on EU/NA. Hunting literally got an extremely nice buff recently and is actually really profitable from what I've heard from some friends because I don't do hunting. Valencia as a whole also got buffed a while back and some grind spots there are equal to or better than some low-end Elvia spots in terms of money/hr and is the go-to to everyone playing on season servers, pvp is also, at least on EU, so active its actually frustrating sometimes (more specifically duel-for-spot). The rest of the content on that list I actually haven't seen people talk about, so in fairness, it's probably dead content. Regarding the "dying playerbase" statement, well at least according to steamcharts, the game has the same numbers of players as it did 1-2 years ago, with the usual spikes in popularity when the game goes free for a limited time or a new major update is released. 4th thing, that I saw in that negative review you showed: content that takes time. I don't understand players that want to have maxed out end game gear within a week. What do you do then? PvP? How long is the pvp enjoyment going to last since that's the only thing you can do in the game because you have maxed gear? Of course going somewhere with gear or crafting takes time. If you're served everything on a platter you're not going to fully enjoy your meal, for example. But if you learn to make it, and take time to practice it over and over, you'll have immense satisfaction when you finally do it right. Same thing applies for gear, in my opinion. If you want the best gear in a game, you should work for it. That negative review guy complained about a 2k mob kill daily, it literally takes 30 or less minutes if you have decent knowledge of your class. Maybe some people don't have X amount hours per day to straight up grind, why not give them an afk or semi-afk option for making money, like, cooking, fishing, horse training, etc. To state this again: I do think your video is fairly well constructed, the editing is really nice, props to your editor for that. But the thing that made me write this comment is your unawareness of the games state and content. It feels like every BDO video you make is just a veteran player coming back to the game, playing for a few hours to get reminded of why he quit the first time, and then he quits again. All being said, I did find the video quite enjoyable, I have been following you on and off for quite a while and I like seeing you shit on really obscure and bad MMOs from time to time, but I think you should at least put a little bit more time into researching and preparing your videos sometimes.
@@itsvaith8605 Thats just retarded thinking lmao. Most games are free to play nowadays with having to pay nothing for the mmo's. They've given BDO out for free every year during christmas or other random times.

I kind of feel the same way about the new region. Graphically I think it's fine. Things only look so good covered in snow. I did appreciate the story though, and that they put in the effort to voice all the dialogue in the quest line. I'd personally recommend setting voice overs to Japanese and reading the subtitles. Feels better that way. I did try to listen through all the cut scenes and dialogue but started spamming R half way through. I just really want to see the new regions and more devotion to creating group content. And to just stop coming out with new classes for a while. It's like two new classes a year. I'm not sure how many more options they could create.
the problem i have with these MMOs is that they look beautiful and seem fun, but the moment you start the game you are bombarded with menus and bad hud design. these games need to take a lesson from Elden Ring
Bro the UI is the least of BDO problems, its just an empty sandbox grindfest that has good gameplay wich is not put to good use and completly wasted potential.
It’s a really cool game tho despite all its shortcomings. There’s really nothing like it and it looks really fucking good on top. The characters and animations are straight from a AAA fighting game. The world is gorgeous. The combat looks ridiculously good. But I do feel like the version we have now is not the best it could be by a long shot. There’s so many things that could be done so much better.
Just returned to BDO as well, and they've actually fixed a lot of things and changed literally every class. Classes I used to like, I don't like anymore and I'm maining a character I didn't think I would like. Definitely worth trying out all of the classes on the Trial server before deciding, so you can get a feel for them at lvl 60 both awakened and pre-awakened. So you used to have rabam skills (input + Z or X) and now they have other skills which use C and more Q skills. As far as progression goes, Fallen God armor is currently 2/4 slots, plus you have garmoth enchantments for your weapons. Also, the new Elvia servers dial up the difficulty and s/ph to 11. People literally making a bil an hour. When you consider Pen boss armor and Tet Blackstar equipment is roughly 10b a piece, you can see how you'd be able to gear a fleet of characters inside of a month. Season servers basically get you and endgame character inside of a month even if you're new. Quests to get pen gear, quest exp to get characters to 61, artifacts from questing you can socket for 400% more exp, quests for infinite potion materials, tier 10 horses... As a returning player the game actually felt fresh, and with a pc that can run the game on 4k Ultra it actually looks a little better as well. Oh, and that garbage questline I can't help but feel it was to give extra story to the few people that care about it, since the other 99% of the game is just killing stuff. It replaces the mediah questline if you choose it with a new character, which is also a completely mindnumbing experience, so it's pick your poison between the two lol.
BDO has some great looking characters, best action combat system with real player control. Sadly, everything else is just meh and I wish there was a better alternative. Right now, all I do is visiting BDO from time to time to check the new classes. Nice video, didnt even know the kekw series was a thing :P
What do you mean good i dont get iiiitttt Do you like assassins creed combat thats why you like bdo combat ? whats going on how can gamers be so different
I didn't mean to watch the whole video but it was a lot of fun :D I haven't played in a while either and I don't see going back... but I'll also never escape the feeling that I *need* to check in once in a while because of how much money I sank into it when it was hype. :')
"Feels like they designed something worse than they had years ago." This sums up most MMORPGs nowdays. Old developers move on, quit, die, whatever. New ones come in and try to "fix" everything. As a result we're getting worse and worse experience in the games we used to play. It's not us getting older, it's the developers getting younger and dumber.
If the boneheads fixed their games before releasing it we wouldn't have to deal with this stupidity and the publishers and developers would save a ton of cash in the long run. But nope laziness breeds crap games that rely on a microtransaction system to keep it going because they constantly have issues they need to fix. This is why I don't buy games that require an internet connection to play because they are never finished.
The majority of people don't realize this is happening across everything. Under talented younger producers and developers that want to fix everything and prove themselves who end up making all of it worse.
It's weird that people state openly that they're skipping all the story content, and then complain that the game is boring. It's like watching a film, but muted, and at 1.5x speed, then saying it's shit.
Because it plays no major role in the game. Hell, not even a minor role. BDO is all about running in circles for hundreds/thousands of hours, unless you're into lifeskilling.. which essentially ends up being one and the same at the end.
As a super casual player, I have plenty of fun in the game without spending a single penny :) Though I do treat it as more of a lifeskilling game than anything else
My biggest problem with BDO is it always felt like too much. It's always just going full throttle. The combat is overly fast and flashy, the graphics are overly flashy, the design is overly flashy, the story is convoluted and over the top. I don't know, I just felt like I never got the chance to just chill lol
it also just dumps you into a position where you have tons of moves available and it takes a shitton of time before you feel like you can actually use them in a way that makes some kind of sense for the actual situation the UI is a fucking mess, and so is all the quests
@@BloodPlusPwn you don't complain or you don't play? If you dont play, then good for you! Games arent for everyone, find a game you like more and play that :)
Hey LazyPeon, love your Videos. Could you maybe do a first impressions to Flyff Universe? Its gonna release soon in South East Asia ( start of may). Its a childhood MMO i have played many many years ago. It was quite big for its time. Keep the good content up!
Infinite grind is one of the things i love about bdo. Long term and hard goals keep me interested, constantly wanting to have more and more gear. This could be a true fact for other mmos, but in general, for me other mmo's progression system seems way too easy. EDIT: Reading the comments i can see how for most people what i love is actually a burden. Korean MMO's are usually this grindy and difficult which is something not good for western releases (imho i think people here is way more lazy), but i totally understand it. BUT... Pearl Abyss is constantly improving on this subject and they're making progression easier lately, so anyone thinking they don't want to try it or comeback because of it i tell you is way better now.
the thing that most end game players dislike is the fact that theres nothing to do with your gear, pve is an absolute joke in this game and in some regions rbf/gvgs are completely dead so theres not much to do in the game besides grinding circles.

To anyone who hasn't played BDO, it's quite a lot of fun to explore and get in to. You can get quite a lot of fun out of figuring it out. Just don't expect any end game.
For me it is just progressing on my own tempo and discovering stuff. I have played about 100 hours (and 250+ afk) and I can say I will def continue to play every few days. I still really like it but I can see how old players don't anymore
Last time I thought about giving BDO another try I read steam reviews lol. People with 11000 to 13000 hours basically saying stay away at all costs. Yup no thanks. Thx for the content Peon!
Every time I check out Black Desert I'm like "So, have they figured out not to lock the classes to max level? Nooooo, well see you in a few months/ years then to grow a brain"
tbf mmorpgs arent known for having the best storyline, with only about two exceptions- when you play for an hour straight and havent done anything other than talk/collect quests ofc it sucks
You just made me chuckle Matt when I played this game last time I didn’t do any of the quest I just browned for levels but since they made it so that you can actually get like all the way to 60 questing I decided to do the quest and after like the first like three requests I found myself just manshing the ski button because there are so no pointless them to any of the story it’s it’s just pointless it’s like but can we just skip that just give me my next quest and we’ll skip all about log because it’s pointless
I just started playing BDO when they were offering it for free and gotta say it’s pretty damn fun. Definitely a change of pace compared to the traditional tab target mmos
They added auto-skip button for title to sync with the FULLY voice acted cutscenes and story. They're trying to actually tell a story, it is your choice to spam R R R but there is more substance than ever there if you don't
My friends and I were looking for a fun MMO with good combat. The level up to max level was fun (thanks to exp boost on newbie servers), then we found out that the PVE was nothing like traditional Dungeon MMOs and that there was nothing to look forward to. We all quit in that moment
There's actually no "max level", PVE is either lifeskills or korean grinding, and endgame is pvp focused (nodewars, sieges). It's not a themepark mmo like ff14 or wow, it's a korean mmo sandbox, some people often come to the game with the wrong expectations.

But they didn’t bother to make it engaging gameplay wise so most of the player base just spammed R anyway

I cant play gw2 anymore since ive experienced bdo combat. I dont play bdo anymore since i hate their upgrade system with a passion.
I have probably 1000 - 2000 hours in BDO but I can’t stand the upgrade system anymore. It’s just disgusting, I’m not going back.
I'm sure they will give us all easily end game accessible gear eventually because they are already doing it for some pieces.
im a new player and starting from snow mountain is horrible, Velia is 100x times better
I agree with most of your points in this video but if you pick the lore based questing zone rather than the new player questing zone then don’t be surprised when it’s mostly lore and dialogue
Yeah but it's all shit, why put it there if it's garbage, just to make people suffer? LMAO
And the lack of PVE
If there were instance bosses exactly like Vindictus, I'd never quit BDO
Koreans.
It's a Korean MMORPG.
Its not the hours of grinding in one zone that bothered me, and I loved Ninja's moveset and flashiness, but I just felt like I couldn't break away from the optimal rotation and so every NPC encounter just felt tedious.
didnt they promise dungeons and raids for BDO in 2022? so we probably gonna get a lot of co-op stuff to do
crimson desert will be a single player game

the rule of bdo NEVER CHECK HOW MUCH YOU SPENT when I last checked it was $3000 and refuse to check again you described it perfectly
So ... what is that amazing OTHER game you seem to play without getting bored ??,
@@laurentpecriaux1345 Me saying BDO was pretty average and I eventually get bored ( it has a declining player base and has for a while, i'm not alone) isn't a personal attack against you for liking it bro.
I love that new raw style of yours !
I still go back every now then, fall in love with it while reconnecting with how to play my characters, then quit, dejected, when I get to remembering how awful the progression is at high level.
this is why I play only BDO private servers
I was so close to installing it back again but saw your video... thank goodness you exist. :)
I think it's a shame because this is the only time I don't spam the r key in a BDO game. Yes they focus more on the story and with the voice acting it actually makes me appreciate the world a lot more. Sometimes it's nice to just immerse into the character and story rather than hacking and slashing for a change.
I agree! I do the same thing, I find that I appreciate the game more that way.
i just watched one of your old vids from like 2016 u look so good now like a chad. very attractive. congrats on ur glow up
Whilst I agree with pretty much everything you said in the video, I still feel that this video came across with negative bias.
Holly shit they're gonna add a private grind?

You just described the entire BDO questing experience.
The entire mmorpg experience honestly. I cant remember any quests / storyline from Gw2, BnS, ESO, or BDO
Just like lostark
The quest is specificaly not for new players but for those who already played trhough the story and want to be at higher lvl faster and continue the story that they already played with other characters. So i dont know why he always refers to it as new player experience

I’ve always hopped back into BDO, leveled up a character to 55 and then felt super lost and bored, if I even made it that far, with massive menus with tons of words, super over whelming and past leveling I just didn’t have the motivation to do anymore, I always wanted to get super into it but just could never quite get myself all the way there
Bdo is a hard game to solo. It's a very guild based game. You might be able to have more fun if you get into a guild.
Had the exact same problem with the game which is why I play New World. The simplicity keeps me hooked.

That 1st 90sec may be my fave intro you've ever done ahah
This game's still a grinding simulator, after i finished my season character i switch to other games since grinding is so boring in this game
then y even play to being with?
@@L4ri11 what?
Hey Peon. My name is Suko and I’m from Germany, i’ve been watching you since 1-2 Years now and you are my absolute Favorite youtuber. I just wanted to thank you for all the content you do. You helped me a lot going through a rough time.
I want to support you as much as possible, so i wanted to know where you stream, if you do.
It's that time of the year again guys.
the problem i have with these MMOs is that they look beautiful and seem fun, but the moment you start the game you are bombarded with menus and bad hud design. these games need to take a lesson from Elden Ring
THIS^
Bro the UI is the least of BDO problems, its just an empty sandbox grindfest that has good gameplay wich is not put to good use and completly wasted potential.
No it doesn't.
But elden ring isn't a mmo if this game was a rpg I'm pretty sure it would be the same
But elden ring isn't a mmo if this game was a rpg I'm pretty sure it would be the same
It’s a really cool game tho despite all its shortcomings.
Skipping content and saying there is no content is very strange
Lmfao the Stardew Valley music. Editor, amazing job!
Always a pleasure to watch your videos
BDO has some great looking characters, best action combat system with real player control. Sadly, everything else is just meh and I wish there was a better alternative. Right now, all I do is visiting BDO from time to time to check the new classes.
Nice video, didnt even know the kekw series was a thing :P
What do you mean good i dont get iiiitttt Do you like assassins creed combat thats why you like bdo combat ? whats going on how can gamers be so different
@@RUclipsstolemyname99999 Dude, maybe dont smoke weed when browsing the internet and comments on youtube. I have no idea what you are trying to say.
@@Korgass best combat game atm yeah
I didn't mean to watch the whole video but it was a lot of fun :D
I haven't played in a while either and I don't see going back... but I'll also never escape the feeling that I *need* to check in once in a while because of how much money I sank into it when it was hype. :')
The main reasons I play BDO every so often is for the graphics and the combat. That combat is so much fun!
How can you love that pop up issue, the graphic is horrible and it’s even worse if you play it in 4K
Went to watch a BDO review, watched this; subbed
@@HermannTheGreat very much so. You can see this trend across the entirety of the entertainment industry.
@@robbedoflife1828 yeah, the "game as a live service," or as I call it the lazy cop-out to make easy bucks. No effort, big money.
It's always cool to see you jump back into this game
It's weird that people state openly that they're skipping all the story content, and then complain that the game is boring.
It's like watching a film, but muted, and at 1.5x speed, then saying it's shit.
Because it plays no major role in the game. Hell, not even a minor role. BDO is all about running in circles for hundreds/thousands of hours, unless you're into lifeskilling.. which essentially ends up being one and the same at the end.
As a super casual player, I have plenty of fun in the game without spending a single penny :)
Though I do treat it as more of a lifeskilling game than anything else
My biggest problem with BDO is it always felt like too much. It's always just going full throttle. The combat is overly fast and flashy, the graphics are overly flashy, the design is overly flashy, the story is convoluted and over the top. I don't know, I just felt like I never got the chance to just chill lol
it also just dumps you into a position where you have tons of moves available and it takes a shitton of time before you feel like you can actually use them in a way that makes some kind of sense for the actual situation
the UI is a fucking mess, and so is all the quests
I think that's a regional tyle for these types of games
people complain there is to little, you complain there is to much, idk, just don't play XD?
@@R3ar3ntry I don't though??? Have you considered that people can try things and then form opinions?
@@BloodPlusPwn you don't complain or you don't play? If you dont play, then good for you! Games arent for everyone, find a game you like more and play that :)
You inspire me. How to be you? Can you share tips on how you manage your time in between games and lifestyle/gym?
a "KEKW series" is a must right now.
Agreed
the thing that most end game players dislike is the fact that theres nothing to do with your gear, pve is an absolute joke in this game and in some regions rbf/gvgs are completely dead so theres not much to do in the game besides grinding circles.
@@gigabased4 Maybe the joke is for you. And not for some people. some people just love endless grinding..
@@bugzauditore clearly people with nothing to do with their lives because grinding in circles doing the same thing over and over isnt even good for your brain.
@@gigabased4 So basically you called out Thomas Alva edison is having no live. And his brain is not good. Right. Or Doctors with the same task all over their lifespan isnt good. Right.
I have wife. i have kids. i have couple of business. And im still playing BDO, and i keep grinding. even just for an hour max. Dammn.. i must be a god then. Thanks for figuring it out for me.
Wow I was laughing so much in the intro. Well done
i said EXACTLY the same thing when i failed my t9. ive never been more thankful to NOT get what i want, that was the very "out" i needed to finally leave this game behind 😅
I did a PEN roulette before leaving to make sure I'll never come back, since PVP was the only fun part of the game and I'll never be able to do it again with what I have
This video in a nutshell is a guy that goes into a restaurant , order a random plate of food just casue he has to order something , disliked it and then gets ups and say " this restaurant suck better close this place " and gets his phone and puts a 0/5 rating on it
To anyone who hasn't played BDO, it's quite a lot of fun to explore and get in to. You can get quite a lot of fun out of figuring it out. Just don't expect any end game.
It has heaps of end game combat and non combat. Sounds like you didn't achieve much.
i literally just saw black desert online on mobile then i wanted a review and this came out today, thank you.
The fucking irony of having a Dragon Raja sponsor in a video criticising BDO is almost satirical in all honesty 😑
i know right? they are literally the same in MTX. lmao
Every time I check out Black Desert I'm like "So, have they figured out not to lock the classes to max level? Nooooo, well see you in a few months/ years then to grow a brain"
"the questing sucks" spams r and complains hes just running everywhere instead of reading
tbf mmorpgs arent known for having the best storyline, with only about two exceptions- when you play for an hour straight and havent done anything other than talk/collect quests ofc it sucks
Lmao BDO storyline is trash
This is mmo combat game, not reading game. Dev need to understand we play game for gameplay not READ
Definitely a change of pace compared to the traditional tab target mmos
oh you are in a rude awakening pretty soon my friend.
Could be talking about any MMO tbft XD good vid
