    Don't forget that the blackwood update brought in the "Companions" which u can easily achieve by doing a 5 to 10 minutes quest. Having these companions play with you can be a big game changer as they are quite useful for starting players or even players who just wanna do content by themselves or even people who doesn't have anyone to play with, the companions can become your personal tank, dps or even healer, letting you play the role that you want with ease. the crafting bag is like a drug that once u start with is very hard to let go, but what most players don't know are the "Storage coffers" these are chests which u can put inside your house where you can store your items. there are 8 storage chests, 4 with 30 item capacity and another 4 with 60 capacity. the bank itself can be filled with crafting materials 240 item capacity, combine that with your own character inventory space that can at most hold 200 items 210 if you buy the inventory pets and the crafting bag shouldn't be really needed. there are addon's that you can actually download if played on pc that will help with the inventory management.

    I started Eso recently and I am liking it. I wish the combat had more ability slots. I love that you can quest anywhere.

    • @JB-xl2jc
      @JB-xl2jc 3 года назад +3

      It's been a while since I played but if I recall the choice of slotted abilities was a pretty major part of the tactical balance and your "loadout" for a given combat required some thought, which was kinda cool.

    • @jakobfel2
      @jakobfel2 2 года назад +4

      @@JB-xl2jc This, and the fact that they wanted to try to take the single player Elder Scrolls formula and translate it to an online version. As someone who plays MMOs for the RPG side of it, ESO's focus on TES-style combat with a small amount of abilities really appeals to me. The number one thing that turns me off from an MMO (other than boring fetch quests and lack of sandbox elements) is when the combat has craploads of abilities to memorize. I hate having to fine-tune a build, I'd rather just roleplay a character and level up abilities that are fun to use. Thankfully, ESO nails that.

    • @jujubear9909
      @jujubear9909 2 года назад +1

      @@jakobfel2 Relatable. Granted, there was a time where I didn't mind a cockpit of a hud in MMORPGs and actually put in the effort to get the muscle memory down - but personally, it has gotten exhausting for me overtime and the simple 2-bar swap, 5-slot ability HUD of ESO was pleasant change for me.

    • @jakobfel2
      @jakobfel2 2 года назад +1

      @@jujubear9909 Exactly the way I feel. I used to enjoy a lot of different MMOs but between the amount of time they take, the lack of sandbox and RPG mechanics outside of combat and the fact that combat is typically absurdly complex, I really don't play them anymore. ESO, RuneScape and SWTOR (despite its complex action bars) are the only MMOs I actively play now. I also used to play Guild Wars 2 but drifted away over time and, well, I have a complete vendetta against ArenaNet now so it's pretty hard to enjoy the game in general lol

You can be within the same instance as someone, you both travel to a part of the zone where you’ve done the quest and they haven’t and you won’t be able to see each other but you’re still in the same instance.
      A difference in instances for example, is being side by side in a major city like grahtwood, you can see their group arrow but can’t see them. Select travel to them and it will put you in the same instance and you’ll be able to see them, this won’t work for progression updated areas like Arenthia in reapers March. Hope this helps

    I never liked ESO combat but started playing more this april and I have to say once you ''understand'' how you supposed to play you will love it. I like that everything IS for every player in ESO, I feel like a lot of MMOs just create content for certain kind of player meanwhile in ESO everything is for eveyone and I love that the game is build up, expanded with every chapter instead making older stuff not matter - everything in ESO matters. I mean, it's kinda crazy that most MMOs that sell you ''expansions'' that don't expand your game they just replace it. Visually it holds better than any MMO that came out around it's time and I love how it has this ''raw'' feel, and I do actually love gear desing as it's really simplistic and real feeling. I would say ESO is a game for people that want to play... a whole game not just small part of it. If you are raider or some who only does group content ESO is simply not for you. If you are someone who like to do everything that game has to offer (and it is worth it in ESO) ESO is for you.

    Hey Peon, i do a lot of pvp/pvp content and pve, its pretty fun. Europe times probably impacted your amount of people shown, but the NA server is ALWAYS packed, also the game does have instancing, which may effect how many people are displayed on your screen at once in *some* zones. I know you mentioned you wouldn't do transmog in ESO, but you should REALLY go to a costume station in a town and check out all the styles and outfits, along with the polymorphs in your collections (collectibles keybind) and other transformations or character model edits, i think youd really enjoy customizing your character once you realize the vast options, actually, its much more detailed than just simple transmog. If you ever look up some pvp videos, or PVE parse videos you can really see how people keep high damage rotations up or customize their builds. You can also achievement hunt in ESO for lots of custom unlocks and rewards / titles / outfits / etc, this is shown in the section of your quest journal key. Goodluck!!

    Another huge con (for me at least) is how 95% of all mounts (probably 99% of the cool ones) are from loot crates. As someone who loves collecting mounts, it’s very off-putting they’re so heavy on the cash shop. It wouldn’t be so bad if there was a decent amount of stuff you could earn in game

    • @Kessra
      @Kessra 2 года назад +3

      In the end that boils down to some cosmethic stuff. I never understood why people need hundreds of different skins for their mounts when they actually can only sit on one at a time. Some of the mounts can also be obtained from logging in each day and doing the endeavors, though you probably need to grind those for almost a year. In the end this boils down to whether the time investment or money investment is the better fit for you

    You mentioned that Blackwood felt empty of players despite being a new zone. I think a lot of people have said the same thing. It's so weird because non of the other expansions felt that way. Something must be up with how it manages concurrent players in an area.

    • @OhSo_Bear
      @OhSo_Bear 2 года назад

      Late comment, but also it's important to note 2 important elements: Not everyone purchases the latest expansions as soon as they're out, usually people wait for the classic year-end discounts to get it, it's really full of people nowadays. And 2) ESO manages an "instance" system inside the megaserver. If you haven't completed any story quests, you're placed in one instance, if another player has already done quests and stuff, is placed in another instance. In consequence, you won't be able to see that player, even if you're in the same zone. This makes it virtually impossible to see "all" of the players simultaneously, hence why you don't see a massive amount of people around.

  • @mental4508
    @mental4508 3 года назад +2

    Also, to those concerned about the population in Blackwood zone, there was recently an event that offered players double crafting materials from another particular zone, so many were capitalizing on that and flooding the zone. I’m sure in coming weeks Blackwood will be filled with questers

  • @LouieNJ

    Elder Scrolls actually has a lot of fun to offer. The downsides are that they really try to capitalize on that "fomo" element like what exists in mobile games. Rewards for logging in daily, various things taking extremely long times to research, etc. I tend to dislike this model. Also hurting it is that their server infrastructure has really lagged behind and because of that they had to completely revamp the progression tree and the super fun PVP area Cyrodil has all armor set bonuses 4set ability disabled because they contribute so much to the lag there. The combat is also def not for everyone, but PVE and PVP are completely different experiences. I hate PVP in most MMOs I have played, but I really enjoyed it in ESO because of all the build/armor set combos make people/fights unique. Many will find the type of combat really boring though. Last, the game is really meta heavy. Builds and armor sets shift every patch and you really need to be tuned into that to be any good. They need to stop pumping out expansions and fix some of the more basic issues with the game. Having a massive awesome PVP zone where your best armor set bonuses are disabled is stupid and broken.

    • @boerny6757
      @boerny6757 3 года назад +3

      Totally agree with the fomo stuff. Every time i quitted eso is the past was because I burned out but felt like i need to log in instead of just not playing it for a week resulting in me doing that, starting to hate it and not playing for 8 month.
      Also there are many people here who say that they dislike the combat system. Since you actually played the game and seem to understand why they dislike it, could you explain it? To me it feels like skill is by far the most important thing in ESOs combat system (atleast up to the point they changed CP). Once you get a decent build, skill is all that matters. You can 1vX, you can beat higher CP players so why is it disliked this much?
      Note that i stopped playing when they increase cap to 3600 don't know how important CP is by now^^

    • @deaththeclover
      @deaththeclover 3 года назад +1

      @@boerny6757 I completely agree with the original commenter but I can explain a little bit more about the combat. I came into ESO a few months ago and got to about CP 700. In all that time leveling, I’ve come to the conclusion that a big reason people dislike the combat has to do with the massive skill gap with DPS. Questing in ESO can be fun for awhile but it gets boring after some time, so most players find more enjoyment in doing group activities such as dungeons/trials/group dungeons/or arenas. If you aren’t able to hit good enough numbers with DPS you get kicked and replaced by someone else. This makes it so that players feel pressured to obtain meta gear and/or work on their skill bars and rotations to reach maximum DPS. Players also feel forced to master light-attack-weaving and animation-cancelling allowing for more hits done per second while also weaving together skills.
      Pro players who’ve been practicing on their skills and learning their rotations for years got everything down to muscle memory. Meanwhile, most newer players struggle to reach high damage parses. Speaking from experience playing on mouse & keyboard, the amount of hours I spent building skills and practicing them over extended periods of time have put my fingers through so much strain. All for the sake of trying to improve DPS and to feel a sense of progression in my characters’ strength. It ultimately led to being burnt out from the game and feeling discouraged seeing as I’m stuck with a 15-30k DPS parse while other players are reaching 80-110k DPS parses almost naturally.
      This reason alone is why combat is so disliked in ESO. It gets boring and repetitive to mimic a certain rotation everytime just for the sake of maintaining high DPS and having to work so hard on your DPS just to be considered a decent player.

      Ah, there lies the fundamental problem with ESO. Expansions. The area that they essentially copy/paste, wrap in neat tidy new packaging and expect you to buy ...They will never stop this. It's how they milk you of your money by mostly wasting your time with the same old content. They have no intentions of actually filling the massive cyrodil area and making it interesting for example ...

    • @LouieNJ
      @LouieNJ 3 года назад

      @Ira Fomo totally exists, just like with a lot of MMOs, but it is turned up in ESO. My trade guilds would kick me for being inactive, I'd miss out on tons of massive XP and free gold from dailies and writs, if my research finishes I am not there to start the next one I am adding tons of time to become a master crafter, and not entering in PVP daily will diminish my rank. Don't get me wrong, I am not saying this is a make or break aspect of the game but it is def a con for me. There are tons of times where I didn't want to log in but felt the pressure of how much I'd set myself back in XP, gold, or rank.
      I def enjoy that the time I do spend in ESO on one character feels like it matters and is an investment I can feel...but at the same time where is the payoff? Even when you master a solo build you get bored after a while and wonder why you're grinding in the first place because loot is so RNG intensive. Trials are the same way. So the only payoff comes in PVP, however Cyrodil is broken due to the lag and you spend all that time getting these hard to RNG sets but they turn the set bonuses off. It also doesn't help that people find ways to exploit that lag, like ball groups in Cyr, that go against the spirit of the game by exploiting old hardware, but also contribute to making the game more unplayable for other people. It's frustrating.
      As far as the combat is concerned, many feel like ESO combat doesn't feel impactful. I don't really care about the animation canceling so much as the aesthetic of combat overall due to the lack of feedback when you swing at mobs. Like I said, the impactful nature of the combat feels different in PVP than PVE for me. It's a lot more exciting.
      I wont go into the rest @DeathTheClover came close enough on trying to fill the skill gaps.
      At the end of the day, to each their own. Maybe I am too sensitive, but I find other things to invest my time and money into.

      I've just discovered this game, it looka really fun but do you need the membership? What do you actually get for it? Do you have to pay extra to get the pet dog and the wolf you can ride? I'm hoping its part of the pure game, including expansion pack is doesn't require membership. I really don't want to spend $15 AUD p/month on top of the original purchase price. I hate subscriptions, I'm sure they must lose a lot of potential players.

    If you go to an outfit station you can pick individual styles of armours to apply to your characters current armour "called outfits" it allows the player to create really unique designs, mixing and matching different armour styles etc. Thats what most people do in terms of the "fashion" in all honesty most of the "costumes" in eso are alright at best. The outfit system is the real way to make your character look and feel cool. It requires a lot of style pages etc. But its pretty worth it if you're into the fashion.

    /////The thing that annoys me about this game is that with every new adding, the starting experience changes. Instead of starting with the original Main quest you are always thrown into the current AddOns main quest. And if you want to actually start with the original main quest you have to look online how and where. This always puts me off every time I try the game. I wish they would give me the option at the beginning of the game to decide myself where to start.
    --->EDIT/Update: I jumped back in and they seem to have updated this problem! At least when I created a character and finished the Belfier tutorial I ended up in a room that brought me to any of the by me owned starting areas through gates. So I could actually choose where to go, and the tutorial lady even explains to me what is going on in each region. And if I skip the tutorial, it brought me to the original main quest start with a little intro movie summarizing the original tutorial area. So, I am really happy to see that!

    The combo and skill system in this game is actually good with a great amount of complexity and customisation.
    What's bad is how the combat feels and it's BIG bad. I'd call it a damage over time simulator. Big majority of abilities deal DoT to begin with and the ones which don't still feel like they do because there's almost no impact when hitting the enemy. If you have a strike attack that's supposed to smash and deal damage, make it sound and look like a goddamn smash. Another part of this whole problem is the enemy healthbars. They move from each side and in over time manner as well, not immediatelly. Which again adds more to the problem, making the combat feel like the only thing you ever do is to stack some kind of entropy on your enemies.
    This is a beautiful mmo in many aspects but time and time again I get burnt out after 2 days because of the horrible combat.

    • @emmasgamingcorner1422
      @emmasgamingcorner1422 3 года назад +4

      It's really hard to get back into ESO combat after trying other games which actually have combos for example. Pressing a synergy button every 10 seconds is not a good 'combo' system imo.
      In GW2, you can combo your own skills and that of your party members in tangible meaningful ways. If you put down a fire trap, it will leave a fire AoE, and if you throw your axes at an enemy through that fire field, the axes will now apply burning when they land. If your engineer friend detonates a bomb inside your fire field, they will create a fireblast combo. Etc. ESO's combat is really static and boring in comparison, where skills have no CDs, where everybody just stacks the same spells on their free-build bar so almost every build is just self-buff, DoT up, spam light attacks between everything, then rinse and repeat. Press a synergy button if it flashes on your screen every 20 seconds or so. Lol.
      That said, it's great seeing videos like this, that highlight the actual advantages of ESO - such as the voice-acted quests and exploration! ESO content definitely deserves a playthrough, even if few people will stick around just for the combat.

    Your experiance in Blackwood and why there were not as many players there are at least two reasons why.
    It's probably a bit early play time and players mostly come online in the evening at around 18 o clock
    Second reason is that each zone also has it's own instance so players that travel to this or any zone are about equally spread around the instances. So if you try to meet a players or a friend in one zone you have to travel to him and not to the zone, so both of you can be in the same instance. You can see that by a group member or a friend is invisible even tho he can be right beside you.

    I really loved ESO when I was playing it, the leveling experience felt amazing, quests and lore were fun, challenge was appropriate...
    Once max leveled, I found out that overworld content was way too easy. Tried doing dungeons and such, but they are incredibly min-maxy (I learned how to light weave and such, but still it was not really fun), so I focused my attention on PVP. Started in BGs, I soon bought BiS gear, mastered my magsorc burst combo and started totally dominating solo Battlegrounds, like absolutely destroying it...
    But since there is no stats system, no points, no ranks, nothing to motivate you, I told myself, lets do real test and went to cyrodiil.. That zone felt amazing, PVPVE content, sieges, skirmishes, raids, found a small group immediately, got into combat...
    AND FOUND OUT I HAVE (NO KIDDING) 5 SEC INPUT DELAY. HOLY SHIT. I am not kidding, it was that bad in prime time. Enemy would lock onto me, I would start apllying my shields... ANd I was dead before they went up. Multiple times. Every day of every week.
    People always just told me you have to play at different times.. I am working father, I can play two hours in the evening for fucks sake :D And it was like this for two months, before I lost my will to ever try that again and just quite ESO alltogether.. so much wasted potencial. Its 2 years now, and it still hurts, and from what I heard, its not really getting any better still, netcode of this game is absolute garbage.
    So if you like to try ESO the real way - I actually think that creating new character, experiencing whole storyline of one expansion and then rerolling new character for new storyline will actually give you the most fun in ESO - you will experience all those great stories and quest, with appropriate challenge and meaningful nongrindy progression. And even PVP pre50 (after you finish your storyline usually) is actually quite fun and balanced I found out :)

But the quests have a lot more to them than typical fetch quests, the graphics are solid and cartoony, nice to look at. Lots of variance on the different areas.
    I have o doubts people blow money on in game purchases, but the bottom line is so far, I don't see it as at all necessary.

    People talk about the quest in ESO but for me, the fact that overworld content is super easy makes it hard to be immersed and get into it. You hit a couple times even zone bosses die quickly, world bosses are not easy if you are new but I can solo over 95% of them and on my way to 100%. The combat itself is not bad for me personally as it creates a ceiling between good and bad players and rewards people who practice. And I don't really care about cosmetics as it's not the reason I am playing.
    My biggest problem lies in the ping and desync issue, I have an average of 350ms and around 300 desyncs, this has kept me from reaching 100k DPS, I'm stuck at 90k. Usually, I have around 180-200ms when I use NA servers on other games but for ESO it almost doubles. Connection is also not that stable as you can get booted randomly, game crash is also not something new. I cannot play PvP normally because of this as the massive desync fucked me up especially when going to a populated PVP server like Grayhost, your health was full one moment and the next second 5-7 abilities suddenly hit you and you die, this is because of the desync that doesn't register those abilities in time. I can play BG somewhat normal and non cp on non peak hour but very low population is that trade.
    If you are from Asia or have high ping, this game is not for you, you will not miss out much playing other MMO as the frustration and work around those ping takes a huge amount of time. Peon impression comes from someone who barely knows anything, this is a blessing and trick at the same time. There are tons of performance-related issues and they are not fixed properly and most of them not at all, a simple inventory bug takes 5 months to fix, break free bug has been around as long as the game itself and still exists to this very day. The game is also becoming more casual with each new minor/major patch, which doesn't properly reward people who are good at the game. 95% plus mounts are through crown stores, end game pve get one trial a year and sometimes a mount for completing 3 very hard achievement which takes times and effort. Most of the time you get skins and title which no one really cares as the majority of them are casual. One particular trial Sanctum Ophidia has been a bug fest for year now. The dungeon finder is also buggy including many of the dungeon itself.
    The developers themselves promise this year to dedicate for performance-related issue and the best they've done is disabling proc sets only to re-enable them again with some minor constrict. If you are the type of person that wants to get good, play end game, pvp, this game is not worth it. I've sanked too much time to just quit so I am stucked for now. This game has very little love for people who wants to play and push their limit.

I believe it took me about 2-5 hours. Assuming I went ham at it and bosses were there and such. I’m champion lv 470 or so I think. Nightblade to. Also as far as player count goes. It depends on location and yes there are instances but I can believe in new content not having a lot of players in it. Most are either grinding gear somewhere or PvP or even just flat out trading/farming.

    I absolutely love this game! I hardly ever have a moment where I am bored and want to do something else. Probably the game I have enjoyed most as of late, especially after quitting World of Warcraft.
    ~~Things I love about the game:~~
    +Character/Build cusomization. With over 500 item sets, tons of skill trees and abilities that morph, CP Mundus attribute and the ability to become a werewolf or vampo... The possibilities seem endless on what you could create and this is easily my favorite part of the game... just theory crafting and trying out weird and wacky builds to use in pve and pvp. It is really refreshing coming from WoW when you basically just do the same build as everyone else.....
    +The PvP is always so much fun! It's Midyear Mayhem right now and everyone is flooding the PVP game modes and it is a beautiful chaos. Queue times feel much faster than WoWs pvp.
    +The PvE I thought I was going to like the least about the game but I am actually addicted to Vet Dungeons and Hardmode bosses. I really enjoy the tank role and I love the tanking style in this game... You can try to handle your responsibilities in a variety of ways... You can be a unkillable tank if you build your tank right... a dps tank... a support tank that buffs the party and shields the party.... you can make a aoe taunt and super mobile tank.... Queue times are almost immediate as a tank :P Dps doesn't feel bad either... again... a lot less waiting around like in WoW.
    +Player Housing! I f**king love this! Again coming from WoW... if it wasn't raiding, M+, or pvp it didn't feel like there was anything to do in the game when friends weren't online or it wasn't raid night or something... I'd often be in WoW just .... logged on to be logged on? I was terribly bored. Something like player housing is really relaxing and fun to do when you don't feel like being super focused and intense in pvp or pve.
    +Crafting! WoW crafting is boring and unsatisfying... Eso gathering and crafting is super fun to me... like above... a really relaxing activity that gets you exploring the world and appreciating the beautiful areas. It's also a really nice way to make some money $$$
    +Story and World exploration... like a true elderscrolls game... adventure awaits you around every corner in every zone. Side quests feel relevant to what is going on in the world/zone and/or the main story quests or expansion story quests. The world and the immersion has a great integrity and while adventuring you feel like an actual adventurer. While I explore the world I am also getting skyshards for more skillpoints and lorebooks to lvl my mages guild... I'm getting crafting materials killing world bosses, helping people out with dailies like Dragons in elswyer, hunting for leads and doing archeology/skrying, doing random story quests for fun. I dunno... I just feel like anywhere I go there is something to do.
    +Community is amazing. Most of the community seems to be encouraging, supportive, and happy to help out and answer questions. I haven't yet experienced any toxicity actually. I find it odd you didn't run into many players.... I am constantly encountering people... They are like ants... they are everywhere.
    ~~Things I don't like that much:~~
    -The animations are a little meh... not bad but they just don't excite me that much.
    -The art style took a bit to get used to coming from the cartoony art style of WoW. But not I actually prefer this type of art style compared to WoW... so maybe it's a pro now?
    That's it.... I really feel like this is the MMO for me... It's got content everywhere you look whether it's adventuring, crafting, raiding, dungeoning, pvping, theory crafting and making wacky builds, story telling, dailies quests, player housing, archeology and exploration, and amazing lore....

      Ah yes, the wacky build. I am expert on that and idiotical housing structures for sure. No joke last 3 characters I made, I can comment fighting on them as "Gods. I don't know what's going on. Pls help". On my last Warden I have no idea who killed who, since she is swarmed with crows and spawns volcano, so often mob is dead before she can reach it + she uses the Falcon Speed skill so she is running up FAST. As in real fast. Combine it with spawnable things and you get idea of clusterfuck.
      My altmer templar mage burns fast through enemies, but he isn't good for sustaining himself when swarmed for sure, playing him is tricky thing to do, good that he is strong healer with healing set bonus whenever he activates sun shield ability.
      And last one was runaway train templar, on whom you might have used joke about Leeroy Jenkins. He is definately op, so much that he was taking lead on Skyreach run with ease, just wiping enemies out before even 50.

      Enchanta. The game has a THRIVING 100+ active player count. Not sold yet? How about the fact that it's basically runescape but with Majin Buu in it? Yea you can sign up now and remember to thank me later. lol

    I got back into this out of sheer desperation to have something to play till the other MMOs come out in a couple of months. It's alright so far I guess, enjoying necromancer.
    15:22 surprised you played that long and missed the transmog system that has been around since before even Morrowind I think. Outfit stations.

      That's exactly why I picked up ESO back in 2014, waiting for other games... (even back then I was waiting for ES6...) Ever since, there's no going back.... you won't catch me playing a single-player Elder Scrolls game ever again...
