I just started a new Necro 2 months ago after taking a 6-year break from Guild Wars 2. New character start off with the same miniscule bag space. It totally isn't hard and doesn't require any money out of your pocket to increase your bag space. Anything that's a crafting material you put in your crafting storage anything else you sell. You can right click your materials in your bags and put them right into storage no matter where you are in the game, or put it on the trading post. It is not an issue
Yes you have to unequip the artifact from your character and remove it from any saved gear sets, and then it will show up in the recipe list at the gypsum kilns
This keeps getting missed by reviewers but you can earn transmog tokens from the free battle pass track as well as once a week you can get a transmog token from any elite chest or expedition chest. They apprently have a 1% drop rate so might take a while. I haven’t purchased any transmog tokens yet but have 7 tokens so far.
13:30 In order to upgrade an Artifact at the gypsum kiln, it needs to be in your inventory, so you would have had to take them off in order to see the recipe to upgrade it. Upgrading is pretty expensive, but it allows you to add one more perk of your choosing (you need the corresponding item for that perk in order to apply that perk). You can also upgrade any new named item via the gypsum kiln with this system... you can choose the perk and it will upgrade to 700 GS. BTW the mechanics on that first boss in Savage Divide are super cool.. kinda reminds me of something from a destiny raid. Overall, the expansion is amazing IMO... the MSQ is just a one and done thing, but the improvements to mechanics and gameplay across the board are great.
@@Z7ZMusic Yes you can. If it's a new named item released with the expansion, gear score doesn't matter. I've upgraded multiple items below 650 already.
@Barewell I do think they should do away with everything related to the old gear cap, like 625 gs legendaries, but I also don't think it's a priority. I think in general the open world and story mode dungeons could use a revamp on mob level and loot table, but maybe that would be something to look at for spring 2024 since they will be done updating the base game msq in winter 2023
You didnt check out the influence races! They are massive open world fights that have three points in each zone where all the factions fight for control. They happen daily too
Great video. Just want to add for anyone watching this right now, most of the bugs have been fixed. The quest bugs and mount bug have been fixed. The artifact pants was not a bug, you have to upgrade them at the kiln but you can’t be wearing them or they won’t appear. The regular dungeons were made extremely easy on purpose. The mutated dungeons are much harder and there are difficulty levels you can feel between them. There was a memory leak that had been fixed. There are some other issues with the game that are a bit annoying at the moment but nothing worth abstaining from playing the game.
I’m a more casual player (only doing pve), I’ve been level 60 for a year and never did a mutation until this release. Got up to lvl 65 and started doing mutations. I’m a tank so it’s much more comfortable knowing I don’t need a specific whole gearset just for a specific expedition. Already done a M1 and M2
I really appreciate your reviews. They are exactly what I need before investing time and money into these games. I don't have the time I used to so being selective is important. Thank you
If you're considering picking this game up, start with the base game as it's currently on sale for around £13 I think. We purchased the expansion last night as we know we'll make it to the end game.

I played it at launch and quit shortly after because there was nothing to do at the end, but I just came back a couple months ago and have been having a blast. Whenever I hop on I feel like I have something I can do, like lifeskilling, expeditions, or seasonal events.
I got to tell you New World is a game where I really love gathering and crafting. Its like about 90 percent of the time i spend in game. This game has probably the most enjoyable gathering and crafting of any game i play. I am not really an end game player, most games when i get to the end I end up shelving my toon and I roll a new one.
Same, even fishing in this game is great, and that's saying something. They nailed the crafting/profs on all fronts. The detail on the mining nodes, logging, the variety/ details of fish you catch...all good.
I played it from beta into initial launch and quit on hitting 60. So happy I came back though, feels so much better. Mounts, perk changes, pvp, everything is just better. And the Devs constantly work to improve the game.

I really enjoyed New World while levelling my first character, but after that it was not as fun any more. They do have some good ideas, like making materials from all zones relevant even att max level.
This game has no idea what it wants to be. This many years in and it still has an identity crisis. Removing First Light to add a over the top fantasy zone removes one of my favorite towns/leveling areas. This is something they should have figured out and implemented before the game was out.
With Weapon leveling.. they smoothed out the curve and lowered the overall xp needed by a lot (like 30%)... I just used the the flail doing whatever I was doing and got it to 20 and it didn't feel like a chore.

Funny to see all the bugs. I haven't had any bugs so far and I played on day 1! BTW i completely agree with the combat system, Tanking is so difficult with stagger, glitching, sliding along mobs/bosses. Especially with 2 of the new Flail abilities where your character moves in place... I love the game though.
Yea... he listed the game's "unique combat system" in the pros but I would argue it's the game's biggest weakness. Anything larger than 1v1 is riddled with clipping, bouncing around in glitchy "staggered" animations, etc. Makes any group content, large scale pvp, or combat against multiple mobs look and feel terrible.
I'm stuck between this or wait for something new to come out. Just got a new gaming PC since 2013, and haven't really gamed PC since 2011. So I really want to make sure I start with something great, not just jump on the first thing.
I think for me one issue is the overall story just being pretty bland, I think the concept from the introduction is super interesting though still. Really love the start of the game, just wish the rest of the main story kept that tempo
I started this game the week the expansion launched and from that time until sometime today(maybe still bugged for some people) the main quest was bugged and prevented you from getting to the expansion area. I don't think I've ever played an mmo where the entire expansion area was locked off because a quest was bugged and stayed bugged for over two weeks.
if any DEVs read the comments PLEASE ADD MORE WEAPONS I cant get back into this game because I am instantly bored by the limited weapon choices and combinations of weapons that actually synnergize.
I picked up this game on the recent steam sale. Been eyeing it up for ages. It's pretty good honestly. Last mmorpg I played for a good length of time was tera. I prefer new world over eso and gw2. Always loved New World. Played every Alpha / Beta and loved it even after release. Never understood the hate tbh. I absolutely love the new DLC, it's just so much fun and the servers are still full. having a blast farming all the bosses and elites for legendary mount drops or Artifact gear. Had 500 hours till DLC, now i'm at 700 and still have a lot on my to do list :D
The game deserved alot of the hate it got/gets. They have done alot with it these past 2 years instead of abandoning it, but don't go thinking the game shouldn't have deserved the hate it got.
Because it became popular to hate the game, so people had to stand up against popular opinion to stick up for the game. Which is hard for people who aren't leaders. One thing interesting about the launch of the game was how the player base was not held accountable for exploiting bugs. I missed all the duping cause I was too busy doing my own thing. If new world taught me anything it's how unreasonably toxic the gaming community has become.
@@DblTapSlapMcGap Yup, imagine an ATM being bugged so it gives you double the money. You think people who abused that wouldn't face consequences irl? Yes the devs are at fault for letting that bug slip, but the community is what destroyed the market by abusing it yet the stupid "sigma male" guys were all like "they did nothing wrong! They simply saw an opportunity". Gaming community is getting more and more toxic incels with no morals blaming anyone but themselves
@@DblTapSlapMcGap No offense, but people hate the game because it's a massive disrespect of their time and/or it's a buggy and clunky experience with stupid time-gates and RNG slapped on top of RNG. You didn't miss all the duping, some of the methods of duping were never fixed but were kept in a small circle of people that always banked on people doing RMT to avoid the stupid time-gates and RNG. That's why you could buy millions of gold on fresh start servers minutes after their launch. The vast majority of new world players is oblivious to the level of cheating happening in this game.
NW is in a good state, only thing is a few MSQ bugs can kind of be a pain in the ass. Really alot of good things in NW though and the expansion was a very good addition.
They have improved the game a lot, but some of the main issues are tied to core systems they haven't touched much (territory control and wars, for example). Some performance issues are still there as well (i.e., desyncs for melee) and the optimization is all over the place.
NW is much better, IMO it is now worth a try if interested. Still some issues but it is solid+ now. There's PvE and (currently) a bit of open world PvP. The flail is alright and mounts are good. For me the removal of expertise is massive. Still takes a bit to gear in whatever way you prefer but not ridiculous and can be reasonably geared quickly. Multiple paths to gear is available and that is anothe rgreat change. My main con is that the new area is really easy, at 65 you just roam and kill and do whatever. Sure, couple areas have to be a little careful solo but with just 1 other player helping you can clear most content in no time. I don't do mutations, but I imagine the dungeons are still pretty good just is not what I like to do. (why I originally quit, was basically only path to do, mutations)
They messed the original release of this game so badly that me like many others just gave up. Its sad because this was suppose to be the next best thing in mmorpgs. Maybe this is the game they should have released in the first place.
I mean ya I hear you but the game is alot of fun and it you wanna go play nothing is stopping you. Me and my buddies are having a blast after returning after almost 2 years.
In order to upgrade an item at the Kiln, it must be unequipped and in your inventory, AND not part of any gearset. Expensive, but highly worthwhile given the complete freedom to pick the perk of your choice. Sweet addition.

About that swimming. I understand that it is annoying not having the ability to swim, however at least it is part of the lore. According to the lore (that I know of) not being able to swim is part of the curse that keeps everyone here. There is that giant storm around the landmass, but there is also the limitation on swimming. I mean even if they don't want to spend resources on swimming animation at least it has a lore-accurate explanation. That's something.
@@user-lz5vh9bb5w I don't think the lore reason is stupid. In actuality I think it makes a lot of sense. I mean, I understand that there is a giant storm outside, but they really want out, they will try, at least they can swim back, but without swimming there's no way back. On the other hand they could just not say anything and add swimming. Nobody would care about the lore reason. This is a typical examaple of story/lore over gameplay mentality which is never a good sign.
@@user-lz5vh9bb5w What are you talking about? I just explained how the lore reason they give is really good, but the whole decision of not including swimming was really bad, a detriment to gameplay. What's the coping here?

After playing some of the new dlc A.E. And using the flail weapon. I have to admit. It's starting to feel like a good MMO. Now they should keep polishing up the combat. Add Different looking zones. And improved 60+ fps performance target.
Game looks pretty decent, although is is possible to deactivate portions of the UI? I dont care to have my XP bar or that spreadsheet for a quest list on my screen.
Are older Problems of the game fixed, like different random spawning locations from your friends or is the old map less copy paste? Are the mission more interesting than kill 10 sheep and is the world more alive and dynamic? Those are actual questions, since the video as well as the add-on don't really go into the "old" content and I'm really not into having the invest 60+€ and 100+ hours before reaching "the fun stuff" (assuming it is even fun).
New World today is nothing like New World what you describe. Only two starting zones now, but you can simply move to the other zone and start questing. There was a complete overhaul of many areas, especially starting areas. Most main story missions are way more interesting now. Side and town quests can still be kill 10 sheep but yeah i mean it's still an MMORPG right so you will always also have these. The world feels very alive and dynamic but imo it always did. You don't have to invest 60 from the start. First DLC content afaik is with lvl 25 when you can get your first mount so you can buy base game and play till 25, then decide if you want to go on.
@@iMarQs89 Thx for the answers. Still have a few questions and answers as well. "Only two starting zones now [...] There was a complete overhaul of many areas, especially starting areas." Are those overhauled starting areas or in fact any area copy pasted somewhere else in the world or are they different to each other? "Most main story missions are way more interesting now." In terms of mission design or story? Or maybe even both? "The world feels very alive and dynamic but imo it always did." I guess we have different values/expatiations then, therefore I assume, I can't trust on this one. "[...] you can buy base game and play till 25, then decide if you want to go on." Won't probably pay 38€ to just look if it's for me or not either. Maybe a free week, a demo or going the full GW2/FF14 approach and making almost the entire Base game (and I think In FF14's case even older expansions) free would be nice. I mean NW has an in-game shop anyway, so I think it wouldn't hurt them that much either, especially considering that it's freaking Amazon behind this game. Anyway, good to hear, that they at least improved. I liked the Idea of a souls-like-ish combat and lvl system in a MMO. Altho it would have been an "achievement" on its own, if they had managed to make the release version of NW worse over time, so I guess the real challenge of making good content and decisions starts with the upcoming years/expansions.
Even if they don't add swimming, at least don't let us sink straight to the bottom with no hope of surviving. I cannot believe this is still a thing in this game

I didn't mean to sound condescending with the skill issue, but it's usually a newbie's problem not knowing they can delete it
I just started a new Necro 2 months ago after taking a 6-year break from Guild Wars 2.
13:45 you have to unequip the artifact to upgrade it, it allows you to put one more perk of your choice on it
Yeah if you 250 smelting and stonecutting inless you want to pay crazy amounts
Yes you have to unequip the artifact from your character and remove it from any saved gear sets, and then it will show up in the recipe list at the gypsum kilns
@@edellenburg78 wot lol, 15k for the matrix and it's so easy to make $ rn it's hardly nothing don't need smelting/stonecutting for nothin
Many of the named quest rewards cannot be upgraded
@@fooojin You cant upgrade items under 650 gearscore and the quest reward items are under 650gs.
Ya I am not in favor of there being pointless items like 625 named legendaries I can’t get to 700 that’s wild to me. So many useless items.
There are some other issues with the game that are a bit annoying at the moment but nothing worth abstaining from playing the game.
gay
I’m a more casual player (only doing pve), I’ve been level 60 for a year and never did a mutation until this release. Got up to lvl 65 and started doing mutations. I’m a tank so it’s much more comfortable knowing I don’t need a specific whole gearset just for a specific expedition. Already done a M1 and M2
Yeah, that change is so nice
@ 14:29 Defeat Kurok! 😂😂😂 The boss name sounds a lot like Kurak from Conan Exiles dungeon. I am so gald they finally added mount into the game though.
I really appreciate your reviews. They are exactly what I need before investing time and money into these games. I don't have the time I used to so being selective is important. Thank you
If you're considering picking this game up, start with the base game as it's currently on sale for around £13 I think. if anyone sees this that was curious; the artifact pants he was confused about is he was still wearing the pants, he needed to unequip the pants to use it in a craft
You didn't even do BY FAR the best part of the update, the influence races. Give em a shot. Open world PvP in New World is incredible and the players scream that from the rooftops. I just hope AGS notices and puts more effort into it
my experience with the influence races was getting constantly teleported out of an area while my group leader shouted @ the 20 of us that kept getting teleported over and over lol was a bit disappointing

And the combat is fun, even if a little scuffed at times. I can't wait for future content, and hopefully a few much needed additions such as swimming. Oh and mounts should really be a vanilla feature. It's kinda bullshit how you need an expansion for something that most MMOs offer for free, and that you'd expect to be part of the vanilla game.

Man, New World does look fckn stunning. Haven't really played it but visually it makes me want to.

@mufasafalldown8401 that's what got me when I played. The combat actually felt bad in dungeons.

The artifact won't show in the gypsome station if it is equipped, it's not a bug , this is how it work.

If new world taught me anything it's how unreasonably toxic the gaming community has become.
you have mental illness
@@DblTapSlapMcGap Yup, imagine an ATM being bugged so it gives you double the money. You think people who abused that wouldn't face consequences irl?
Really alot of good things in NW though and the expansion was a very good addition.
hell I wanted to watch this to wake up in the morning, but your soothing voice straight lulled me back into a world of dreams and bodily restoration 😴

About that swimming. I understand that it is annoying not having the ability to swim, however at least it is part of the lore.
According to the lore (that I know of) not being able to swim is part of the curse that keeps everyone here. There is that giant storm around the landmass, but there is also the limitation on swimming.

If you buy the expantion as a new player..,cane you instantly get the mount quest ?
If swimming is your only con now I think that says it all. Also $30 for an expansion 2 years in is nothing compared to well, any other MMO out there.
"Only two starting zones now [...] There was a complete overhaul of many areas, especially starting areas."
Are those overhauled starting areas or in fact any area copy pasted somewhere else in the world or are they different to each other?
"Most main story missions are way more interesting now."
In terms of mission design or story? Or maybe even both?
"The world feels very alive and dynamic but imo it always did."
I guess we have different values/expatiations then, therefore I assume, I can't trust on this one.
"[...] you can buy base game and play till 25, then decide if you want to go on."
Won't probably pay 38€ to just look if it's for me or not either.
Hi, does this game have a good trading/crafting/gathering part? Or is it combat-centered?

Even if they don't add swimming, at least don't let us sink straight to the bottom with no hope of surviving. I cannot believe this is still a thing in this game
BDO still have the best mount system for me XD but im glad New World implemented this and hope to gradually improve this over time.
Having to ride on my mount for 20 min for a quest would make me not play. That literally sounds HORRIBLE.
